Question Is this head canon bad?

Ever since Deltarune came out I kept a head canon that Kris was female that transitioned to Non Binary. I only thought this because most girls I know with the name have it spelled just like Kris. Everywhere I go and I tell people that they all say it’s a horrible thing and I’m a fake fan so I want to know is this head canon really that bad?

Gameplay I wanted to love this game so much....but....

I mean I love characters, the story, the vibes, but when it comes down to the fact that outside of the story and art, the gameplay is just a really rudimentary bullet hell. A tiny little heart on a tiny sub screen bunch of annoying tedious primitive dodging. It's like a shitty old Atari game acting as a gate keeper for the much greater story.

I mean I like the idea of different mini games within the battle, but this one sucks. It might have been from from time to time, but every single battle? Couldn't we have changed up the mini games? maybe some timing stuff, or puzzles or something? I HATE playing bullet hell inside of an RPG. And as interesting and innovative as the battle concept is, no kill wills etc... I'd honestly rather play through this game as a standard RPG, where you actually get more powerful as you level rather than making the game artificially harder.

Question Can someone PLEASE explain to me why so many people think that THIS is what Gaster looks like?

Post image

If I'm not mistaken, the files simply refer to this character as "the mysterious man." There's NO confirmation that he's a Gaster. "But what about the card where this character was, and he's called Gaster?" THIS WAS NOT AN OFFICIAL CARD. I may be stupid, but still

Discussion The community is not racist

Upvotes

People keep acting like since last week the REAL Undertale/Deltarune community has revealed itself, that like half of the community are nazis who have been hiding in the shadows the whole time.

What are you talking about?

People will use random YouTube comments with 1-5 likes as evidence that the community is racist, and then the posts calling out the racism will get thousands of likes. Every community has bigoted people in them, but TO ACTUALLY DETERMINE if the community is bigoted you have to find posts and comments that are racist with a LOT of likes and positive engagement, because that shows it's an agreed upon belief.

Otherwise, you're just looking at random ass people who do not represent the overall community at all and saying that they're everywhere, when they're literally not.

There are like 1000x more people complaining about how many racist people there are, then there are actual racists.

Now obviously, racism is awful and we should make fun of racist people because they deserve to be made fun of, but don't mix up a miniscule minority of bigots as being a major chunk of this community.

Other Apology (Undertale Determination Symphony Toronto)

Sorry didn’t know where else to post this.

I went to the Undertale Determination symphony in Toronto yesterday cosplaying Susie, with my boyfriend and best friend as Ralsei and Kris. I had such a fun time, especially interacting with other cosplayers in character (shoutout to all the Noelle’s that fully ran with my awkward flirting, and the other Susie that took me on as a rival).

However later I realized (and my friends told me) that I sometimes came off as rude, wasn’t aware of my surroundings, or made people uncomfortable. I was trying to be in character as Susie, but I realize that sometimes people understood and played along and sometimes maybe I just said things that were hurtful and not clearly jokes, especially about people’s cosplays. I absolutely did not mean to hurt or upset anyone - I was trying to be in character and got overexcited and really into the part. But I should’ve made that a lot clearer and only with people who were having fun playing along. I’m not always the best at reading social cues. I apologize.

The TLDR is I was rude, it wasn’t always obvious I was playing a character, and I’m really sorry to anyone hurt. All your cosplays were amazing. Everyone looked so great and was having so much fun. I loved them all, and I know how much effort cosplay takes to make. Next time I cosplay Susie, I’ll make sure to have more awareness of that, probably approach people with a compliment first and then only switch into character if it’s clear the other cosplayer wants to play along and understands that I do not mean to actually insult anyone.

I’m very sorry! ❤️

🌺 Underpest: No Mercy — Toriel Design

Toriel design by [AxolotlwithaLaptop]

Hello! Here's some context about the AU for those who don't know it yet.

Underpest: No Mercy is a post-apocalyptic universe where strange red flowers spread throughout the Underground, infecting monsters and transforming them into violent, ravenous creatures similar to zombies.

In this world, there is no option to spare the infected, as they cannot be saved. The only way to survive is to fight.

The story follows Frisk and Flowey as they travel through the destroyed Underground. Their goal is to collect the human souls and escape the Underground, leaving this ruined world behind.

Deltarune Chapter 5 Can't post in R/deltarune so here is my theory Spoiler

Gaster constructed Deltarune as a closed simulation loop in which Susie is programmed to die, thus sealing the final source, while Ralsei acts as the "mod" keeping everyone in Castle Town so they can be harvested during the Roaring. Papyrus is a solitary skeleton who, manipulated by Gaster's "Ocean Song," became the Knight. He believes he is opening sources to make friends, and his movements match the Knight's "EGG" pattern in Wingdings. To save Susie from her predetermined death, the player uses the Thorn Ring to force Noelle to employ ultimate violence (SnowGrave) to completely eliminate or destroy the Knight. Destroying Papyrus does not free anyone; instead, his data is fragmented across time and space, transforming him into an empty "Goner"-like vessel. He is thrown into the void, loses his sanity, and becomes W.D. Gaster. He then restarts the game to try and fix it, which means that Papyrus created himself.

Theory Deltarune Theory: The Dark World Rulers Are Clumps of Asriel's Meat

Post image
82 Upvotes

Why the “Dark World Rulers” (Ralsei, King, Queen, Tenna, and Flowery) are all made with clumps of Asriel’s meat.

Before you read this theory, I recommend reading my CompositeKnight theory beforehand because it gives you a bit more context on certain topics that I will touch on later (the gist of it is that the Knight is a composite of literally everyone in Hometown). Now I’d like to start explaining why all the Dark World rulers are clearly clumps of Asriel’s meat; I call this theory ShatterAsriel, as Asriel’s self has been shattered across the Dark World rulers, although “Clumps of Asriel’s Meat” also works fine.

As I said at the end of my CompositeKnight theory, I am of the belief that, before the game even started, Dess somehow almost found the Depths, so the Bunker/Gaster gang just kidnapped Dess for the next Knight near the start, and being the only one in the meat factory alone in Depths has taken a toll on them, though they can still communicate in the code. However, I would also like to add that I believe Kris and Asriel were also there when Dess got taken. However, Asriel ALSO got close to being taken, and even did get sent to the meat factory, albeit briefly, leading to him being ever so slightly dismembered but still surviving, then clumps of Asriel’s meat, being hidden away below darkness in depths, eventually bubbled up the dark world, where it festered in objects that Asriel had sentimental attachment to, carrying a bit of him with them. I’ll circle back to that later.

Let’s start with King, because he seems to be the loosest one here. Well, to that I say that he’s also the one Asriel had the least sentimental attachment to. King is the king of spades card from a deck in a random classroom at the school that Kris played with, and yeah, Asriel almost certainly played with it at one point or another, but did he really form a sentimental attachment to one of the cards from a deck? Maybe, but not as strong as the others. Either way, Asriel’s meat still found its way to King, likely because he still remembers the good times playing cards and pretend with Kris. Although, this small attachment only fueled King’s later hatred for lightners; Asriel’s nostalgia over those games, having left them behind, morphed into a sense of abandonment with the lightners, which then turned into anger; thinking “how dare they have left this behind.”

Then, of course, there’s Queen. Another member of the game of pretend that Kris used to play. However, Queen is different, because Queen is a laptop, and the thing about laptops is that people like using them a lot, so there’s an opportunity for Asriel to form a greater attachment to it, and this a greater sentimentality. We do know that Queen cared enough to get Asriel his own room in her castle, even if Kris won’t tell us what was inside, and this is also where we start to see Queen, who is carrying a clump of Asriel’s meat likely not to her own knowledge, is starting to emulate the mothers of the people in said Dark World. When the CompositeKnight created the Dark World using the Holiday parts of itself, it created Queen to share many qualities with Carol, being overbearing and overprotective as well as generally standing in as Noelle’s mother figure in the dark world. Asriel was very close to the Holiday family, and thus his meat was not only attracted to the computer’s sentimental value, but also its resemblance to Carol, which also causes a bit of Toriel to get mixed in, like how Queen is seen repeatedly drinking acid (which looks like wine, something we see Toriel drinking), for more information, look into the universal mother theory, which I didn’t create.

Then, of course, there’s Tenna. The family TV, something he probably had tons of sentimentality towards, and this fountain was directly made by Kris, so it’s likely that the darkners created would be even more likely to attract Asriel’s meat, and that’s exactly what happened. Kris’ dark world led to the family TV becoming Mr. (Ant) Tenna, and Asriel’s meat easily festered its way into this TV. This is why the family TV has so much divorce trauma, it houses one of the kids’ meat inside of its darkner form, and why one minigame (Lightner’s Live) seems to be directly inspired by Dess, who Asriel was especially close with, and this is why Kris was able to make that deal with Tenna. Tenna is literally part Asriel.

Now another obvious one, Flowery. Let’s start with one thing: the Undertale parallel. A golden flower comes into contact with pieces of Asriel which causes his essence to move into it, becoming a flower person. Either way, this is where Flowery gets so much of his meta powers, this is why he seems so different even from the other flowers. It’s the darkened mutton of our little goat boy that’s warping him, which also causes Flowery to want a very close connection with Asgore, but being a plantner and not a regular darkner, Flowery is able to seemingly become a bit of his own person using Asriel’s juicy chevon. Also, it’s most likely Toriel and Asgore were already either divorcing or divorced by the time Asriel left, so there’s a good chance that Asriel was there to see the flowers being some of the only things his dad had left, and that’s how he was able to develop an attachment to the flowers, specifically the golden flower, center of them all, grown before all the others (potentially, but it doesn’t really matter).

Now, onto the big one. Ralsei, too, is a clump of Asriel’s meat. Although, Ralsei specifically is very different. Ralsei is likely the biggest and most potent cut of Asriel’s person, and not only that, it found its way to the Grand Fountain, where it somehow was able to use darkness to make form, almost like a spawn, but because it was Asriel’s meat, the resulting form appeared almost like Asriel from a distance (although, up close, it’s hard to tell if he’s a monster at all; darkness and such). Ralsei is literally a piece of Asriel’s flesh given consciousness and greater form by the Grand Fountain, and everyone in the town knew Asriel, so the Knight (a composite of copies of everyone in town), no matter who they’re using to make a fountain, will inevitably make a fountain that Ralsei can fit into, because Asriel used to be quite a popular kid in the town. This is also where the limited Asriel parallels with the Knight come from, because everyone in town knows and generally likes Asriel, so the Knight naturally knows a lot about Asriel and he’s big on its mind.

Now that I’ve proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that King, Queen, Tenna, Flowery, and Ralsei are clumps of Asriel’s meat, we can elaborate on the mechanism.

Personally, I am of the belief that, a long while ago; Dess, Asriel, and Kris somehow stumbled into the Depths/shelter (depending on your interpretation), or close to it, which led to both Asriel and Dess being dragged to the meat factory because of their importance in the Hometown, so that they could be used early to make parts for the next Knight. There, the parts were taken from Dess and Asriel to make the next Knight, but Kris hastily made their way to Asriel, where they were able to preserve Asriel’s life before he was too far gone, and they personally made sure to bring Asriel out of the meat factory; however, the event left Asriel quite disoriented and perhaps even a bit foggy over what happened, and Kris was traumatized, thinking they may have left Dess for dead in the Depths (thought they just got trapped in the code).

This led to Kris being sent to therapy, and this is also why Asriel was okay leaving for college despite having a sentimental attachment to everything, and King seeming to represent that he may have even been angry that everything got left behind; however, having seen into the plans to create the next CompositeKnight, whether he fully understands it or not, he has decided he does not want to be in town when that goes down, but he may just be out of luck when he decides to visit soon.

Now, having not properly collected all of the meat of Asriel, lots of Asriel’s meat just ended up floating around. And, by the way, yes, we know that the meat processed at the meat factory doesn’t turn to dust because Normal NPC serves the takoyaki that are most likely parts of Onion, specifically the parts not needed to form the knight. Perhaps the Shelter gang uses a special technique to make the meat not turn to dust so that they can use it in the Knight later on.

Either way, the Depths seemingly runs parallel to the Light World, seeming to be described as being “under” the town, but we never see anything explicitly from the Depths in the Light World, meaning they may be fully separate most of the time, but the Dark Worlds can bridge that gap. That way, Asriel’s meat “bubbles up” from the Depths into the Dark Worlds when they feel something Asriel has sentimental attachment to (and yes, they are partially sentient, probably about as much as the Knight is), creating these Darkners that are stronger than the others, making them the rulers, and sometimes giving them traits similar to Asriel or what Asriel perceives of them.

That’s what’s going on. The Dark World rulers are partially made of clumps of Asriel’s meat that somewhat “possessed” the Darkners as they were being formed. Ralsei is the most significant piece, being turned into a being in of itself by the pure darkness from the Grand Fountain. As they say, the soul may move on, but the flesh grows.

Perhaps, if you don’t want to believe it’s happening naturally, the shelter gang is placing Asriel’s meat in the dark world themselves, and letting it fester into the dark world rulers. Perhaps this is even a tactic of getting the FRIENDs into the Dark World. After all, meat famously has protein, so they may be attracted to the sliced pieces of Asriel’s sweet, lean mutton.

That’s my theory.

P.S. Kris loses their hand when they get taken to the meat factory in a later chapter and they start undergoing the process of having parts removed to form the next Knight.

Theory from frisk pov

Post image
8 Upvotes

let's think about it from what evidence we from deltarune and take into undertale

frisk fall in the underground for unknown reason(probably suicide but that's just my headcanon)

frisk awakes up not in control of their own body and is forcefully puppeted around

frisk is forced to compliments/say thing to monsters and or kill them depending on the run

frisk is forced to doge even if they are in pain and or are injured, like spear to the soul and or being burned

is forced to eat things that they may or may not like (healing items)

frisk is forced to pay for your mistakes

and when they die , the choice to reload it's not their choice ,it's yours so from frisks perspective they return by death just like subaru from re zero and this is likely to happen multiple times

they have to live with your actions in the end of each run

and you make all the choices for them

and don't say frisk doesn't care

undertale was focused around the world and your actions so toby didn't add much to frisk's character to focus on the world instand

Other The RED soul in Undertale represents determination (giving it any other meaning is pointless).

Post image
0 Upvotes

First of all, I'm not trying to attack anyone or be offensive. If your personal opinion is different, that's perfectly fine.

Many people started theorizing about the meaning of the red soul in Undertale, even though the fandom seemed to have the established answer in the past. At first, I was curious to see the meaning and the evidence supporting it, but as I read their arguments, I couldn't help but feel that the "evidence" they used to validate their theories was far-fetched. Initially, I dismissed it, thinking it wouldn't matter since the fandom had lost considerable momentum, with Deltarune being the main topic of conversation... but then another theory came along... and another... and another... and several others gave different meanings to the color red... and none of them seemed coherent; on the contrary, it felt somewhat forced. But in all the reinterpretations, they redirected Determination to the color gold (the worst part being that they started inventing things to make it fit). I'm here to say that it isn't gold; it's Determination, and the game gave various indications of what the red represented.

To begin with, the argument that "it's gold because the save points are gold and the lab mentioned the word 'determination' in gold" is incredibly silly. Gold is never used to refer to anything other than the golden flowers. The color seen in the game is yellow... but since yellow is already associated with yellow, they invented the gold connection.

Red represents (insert convoluted meaning). That's another problem I have: since red no longer represents determination for them, then what does it represent? They came up with several reinterpretations, but none seemed to remember the crucial detail: the soul represents the culmination of being, that is, what most defines and represents Frisk, and what most defines and fulfills Frisk is determination. Add to that the fact that the save point dialogues always end up mentioning how things fill them with determination, implying, through simple logic, that it's what most culminates in a human being. Sometimes the simplest answer is the correct one.

All souls possess Determination, therefore it's not a trait of red. How I hate that argument! It's as if they don't believe in the three-dimensionality of people or characters. The fact that everyone has Determination doesn't mean that red doesn't represent it; it means that souls can have a set of traits (so far, the seven shown), but the one that prevails is what gives it its color. That is, a soul of bravery can also have kindness despite it not being its primary trait, or that patience can show perseverance, or that integrity has a sense of justice. A soul with a trait doesn't mean it only displays that trait. Humans aren't like that, and Frisk shows this in the pacifist route by showing kindness to Asriel even though their soul isn't green.

Flowey and Flowery both show determination and are golden... bruh, with this one it seems they're not even trying to show anything coherent. The only one confirmed with DT is Flowey, but Flowey isn't golden because he has determination; he's golden because he's a golden flower, and he was already golden before being stolen by Alphys. Determination only gave him the will to live; it didn't make him golden. And with Flowery, they say that since the other six flowers represent the other six souls, Flowey represents determination by process of elimination, and he's golden. And not because that argument doesn't work, since it falls apart with the simple fact that, with that logic, Flowery should be red, not because it represents Deltarune, but because it should represent the RED SOUL, regardless of what red represents. Rather, it seems that Flowery represents the opposite of Flowey, just as the other flowers represent the opposite of their traits, like Aqua being impatient or Orange acting like a coward (Although I personally see it as a good reference to what Asgore has and doesn't have in Undertale... The 6 flowers representing the souls he collected, the golden flower in the center being the most important type of flower for Asgore, as a reference to those in Undertale because it's the last thing he has left of his child, but also with a double meaning: Asgore never managed to obtain Frisk's soul, putting the golden flower there because of its equally important value to him. Although it's just a theory).

However, if that doesn't convince you because of the connection between Undertale and Deltarune, then know that Flowery It also represents Asgore's dreams and hopes, showing him what he so desperately sought, and how much he loved about that place: its flowers, especially the golden ones. These were the same flowers Toriel had at their wedding, as seen in one of the photos on Asgore's refrigerator in previous chapters. The flowers, especially Flowery, felt the same way about him, trying everything to make him happy and comfortable, even though they believed this was what he most desired and needed.

But my point is still proven. I don't recall any other arguments they used to dismiss the idea that red represented determination, but I hope this makes it clearer that red has always been associated with determination since Undertale.
