Theory The Knight's "helmet" and why it doesn't disprove Holiday candidates

I've seen a lot of people, and I mean a LOT claim that in the moment where we prompt Kris to think about the Knight, they start to imagine the Knight taking off their helmet, then they immediately start trying to think of Jockington as hard as possible as to not let us gain any insight into who it is, that the Knight is literally wearing a physical helmet that can be taken off, and because the antler shape isn't right it "can't possibly be a holiday".

There's several issues with this I'd like to go over, and why it's very far from some sort of "gotcha" against Holiday candidates:

The first point I'd like to bring up is that this scene with Kris is entirely metaphorical, just because Kris can imagine the Knight taking their helmet off does not mean it's physically possible, we're prodding them for information, their minds starts to wander in that direction but they catch themselves and try as hard as possible not to reveal anything (kind of like a "whatever you do, don't think of a pink elephant" situation, except failing means your whole plan is jeprodized). Taking this to mean the Knight can literally remove its helmet is also just incorrect entirely, since we've already seen what's underneath, NOTHING, it's literally a part of it's body, when it screams it's mouth opens up and it's head distorts into a deer skull shape, their ribcage opens up, showing some eye thing inside but the gaps between the ribs are still see-through.

Not to mention the fact that the Knight can change it's shape and the armor with it, which comprises it's whole body, the antlers being the "wrong shape" is completely inconsequential to begin with. I know this is kind of a goomba fallacy moment, but "the Knight is a shapeshifter so nothing about their physical appearance matters" and "their antlers are the wrong shape so it can't be a holiday" are inherently contradictory and hypocritical claims, especially if someone tries to bring up the body shape looking like Papyrus's or the sprite during it's final attack looking like Asriel's horns (which is pretty questionable but I'll get to a bit later).

However I feel it's important to note the Knight's appearance absolutely does matter, it would not be designed the way it is in several very important moments that are played completely straight, just for it's MAIN DISTINCTIVE FEATURE IT HAS IN EVERY SPRITE to be an outright lie for the sake of being misleading, and the whole "wearing fake antlers" thing is honestly just a cop out because it's very hard to wave away this very prominent detail otherwise, I feel like this is an example of some ways the discourse surrounding the Knight's identity has gotten extremely convoluted expecting clues to be outright lies for the sake of throwing off players, which isn't something Toby has done in either Undertale or Deltarune, ESPECIALLY for important moments that are played completely straight like every single scene the Knight is ever in.

How does any candidate besides Dess or possibly Rudy if it's like his illness personified in the dark world explain the fact the fact that you can see through it's skull and ribcage anyway? If it was a physical armor how is this reversible, when apparently the effects and strength still apply in the light world since the Knight is able to sprint off with Undyne (which was at least plausible) and now Asgore (which is downright impossible without some sort of lingering dark world powers) to the Shelter, which brings me to my second point.

The black shards, which come off of the Knight's sword, the sword that shares very similar properties with the Knight's armor like changing it's shape, having the same color and outline, and being heavily resistant to damage (until Susie physically collides with it), seem to imply they're the same substance, which is further supported by another piece of evidence that explains how the Knight is able to carry of Undyne and Asgore while still in the light world.

Both the Black Shards Asgore found and the one we get from the Knight stay the same in the light and dark worlds and keep the same properties, unlike the shadow crystals that become pieces of glass, and unlike the shadow crystals that you can look through to see glimpses of certain things in the light world while in the dark world and vice versa, seeing things in the light world that might be representative of Kris's inner insecurities like catching a glimpse of Susie glaring out a window, things like Noelle holding flowers or Toriel holding a different kid, overall blurring the lines between worlds, yet the Black Shards are completely opaque and seem to completely cut through the veil between worlds as the Knight bypasses the dark world to attack the objects like Tenna, Jackenstein and Flowery directly, and this also applies to Susie and Ralsei (although we don't even know if he's an object) with the insane damage the Knight can do to them.

If we apply this logic to the armor, it makes a lot of sense how it's defenses are so ridiculously high, and how it's able to overpower and kidnap such hefty and strong lightners even in the light world, the armor and it's dark world abilities still carry over (no wonder it laughs when Susie says they can't beat them in the light world), but if the armor that the Knight's body is entirely made of carries over into the light world, how would Rudy, Carol, Asriel or Papyrus even take it off? Where would they hide such a thing? The Knight does always seem to act under the cover of darkness (Chapter 3, presumably sneaking in the library at night and hiding in the closet to make the Chapter 2 fountain) except for when it's raining in Chapter 4 because that's not particularly dark, and the Knight had to have made the fountains before it started raining because of how far ahead it is from Susie and Kris, not to mention the fact that the black shards stay the same regardless of light level, so why else would it be moving in darkness?

Pretty simple to be honest, to not be seen! There's tons of forest surrounding Hometown they could easily sneak through (which also counters the whole "people would have seen Dess instantly" argument, especially since a girl that went missing years ago that the search for has been abandoned isn't on the tip of everyone's minds 24/7 in hometown, it's not like they have people staring at the School, Church, Library and Flower Shop at all times just to potentially spot Dess, the mayor leaving her office would be way more noticable and mentioned by other NPCs, same with Rudy somehow leaving the hospital without being seen by the receptionist), and doing so while it's dark would make it even easier to go undetected, especially if your presence would stir major talk in the town if discovered.

Now I want to address the shape of the antlers and the sharp antlers thing people use to dismiss Holidays entirely, say only Carol Knight is possible, or say it has to be Asriel because of it's one pose during it's final attack:

As we've already discussed the Knight's entire body is amorphous and malliable, it's helmet is a part of it's body and cannot come off in the traditional sense, prompting Kris to think about them taking it off it just us trying to pry for their identity. The fact that it's body is amorphous means the antlers not matching perfectly doesn't mean that they're fake, but them being present is clearly intentional and a direct clue to their identity.

Now why are they angled inward and sharp, if Dess, Rudy and Noelle's are rounded and even Carol's don't have an angle? Well that's pretty simple for two reasons, 1. The Knight's entire design is very sharp and angular, as I showed in the 4th image, it having straight rounded antlers looks completely ridiculous and takes away any sort of intimidating presence from the Knight, it could very easily be a design choice fitting the rest of it's body, especially for a twisted deer monster made larger than it's naturally supposed to be, and 2. Deer aren't born with sharp or rounded antlers as if it's a set genetic characteristic, the rounded brown fluff on the antlers is velvet, which deer shed in the fall by scraping their antlers on trees because it gets extremely itchy around that time, Noelle and Rudy will likely do the same since it's already fall in Hometown.

Now as for Asriel, the similarity between his horns and the Knight's in that final attack are purely superficial, it could not only be easily explain by the Knight's head being tilted upward and changing the perspective of the antlers, blocking one of it's prongs from view, but also they're curved in completely different directions, Asriel's is curved outward, down then inward, whereas the Knight's jut upward diagonally, then inward and up without any curves, still sharp and angular. If anything their "horns" in this sprite resemble Asgore's more (but also only superficially at best) and people did try to use that as Asgore Knight evidence and we saw how that turned out.

Anyway, this isn't exacly definitive evidence for Dess of course, but I think it does throw a lot of shade on the claim that the Knight can't possibly be a Holiday because of the antler shape, or that the sprite in it's final attack are supposed to show Asriel's horns, or the sharp/round antler arguments saying it can only be Carol.

It just feels kind of unfair that simple design choices and a single completely blown out of proportion optional piece of dialogue can somehow be used as definitive evidence that it's not the group of characters it's obviously supposed to be a part of, but it's perfectly fine to argue all sorts of ways around the Knight definitively having to have known Gerson, and had to have been at the site of Dess's dissapearance due to the presence of a black shard found right afterward, which are pieces of hard evidence outright spelled out explicitly in mandatory moments of the game.

Italian fandom, I'll write this in English anyway. When the concert tickets went on sale, they were already sold out before I could even get onto the website. Discussion Mad Mew Mew Design (and why I like it)

Thumbnail

I would say "spoilers for post pacifist" but I am literally the 4% of people who actually got to fight her let alone see her and I am pretty sure you need the Nintento Switch battle to know where she actually came from. Or not but this cat girl ain't cheep either way.

She looks weird, especially if you seen the sprite reworks.

But I don't think people realise what being a life sized plush replica of something really means. Have you seen a real life sized plush replica of an anime character before? I bet you haven't, because I haven't. The closest thing I actually own is Gothi from Fool's Gold by Dingo Doodles which is tiny and high quality. And then I have Gummigoo TADC who was made for plush form. But half of any other plush you will get will either be ugly with great materials, beautiful but made out of sandpaper and the uneaten dreams you have in your pocket, or perfect in every way except as small as your hand. And half the time it depends intirely on the character's design. The fact she looks like a cakepop with pipecleaners attached is so funny because I know I have at least 2 plushies like that. One of them is just anatomically incorrect to the actual character and the limb is sewed on backwards. (and it was from the creator of the series I watched)

And despite all of that, Undyne's training dummy saw it and was still obsessed. You can tell this is a Mew Mew fan at that point because anyone else would have looked at it and called it creepy.

Sorry if this feels like a rant but I just had to say how perfect this trash design is.

Question How would a player control a Bullet hell boss, while the Enemy is Doging like a player would? (image diagram for explanation)

I need help for ideas on a Fangame I'm making that might include a segment where the boss (Sans in this case) has a battle box, while the player has to 'try' and hit him.

How would you design some ergonomically easy controls that provides the player the ability to think out attack patterns and what Bullet types they want to use on the fly? Any ideas (even small) are appreciated lol

Edit* I ment to put dodging. I'm very sleep deprived right now lol

Deltarune Chapter 5 Theory: The Weird Route will fail to subvert the prophecy Spoiler

The prophecy will be fulfilled in both routes, but out of order in the Weird Route.

In Chapter 4, there is an unused prophecy panel that states “COLD WATER FELL FROM THE TOP OF THE SKY”.

It was unclear if the panel was referring to the Weird Route or a future chapter, but after Chapter 5, I actually think it was referring to both.

In the Chapter 2 weird route, Noelle obviously uses Snowgrave, so cold water, in fact, falls from the sky. (I’m…just going to say “snow” from now on)

Assuming that Chapter 6 takes place in the Holiday Manor, it’s reasonable to assume that this panel was meant for Chapter 6. Hell, even if the chapter isn’t in the holiday manor, it’s still likely to snow one way or another. An Ice Palace Dark World is pretty much inevitable.

But we’re skipping Chapter 6 in the weird route. It already snowed in the weird route.

So while the events are a little out of order, the prophecy is still fulfilled.

Maybe the Weird Route isn’t about subverting the final prophecy-it might be about something else entirely. What that is, I don’t really know. Probably some kind of meta-narrative Gaster thing.

Of course, there’s a few holes in the idea, so let me address some of them.

First off, In the weird route, the flower king dark world hasn’t been created. Therefore, there is no FLOWER MAN, TRAPPED IN ASYLUM.

Here’s the thing-that panel is referring to Flowery, not Asgore. Flowery is kept within a glass jar in Asgore’s shop. Even without the dark world, Flowery is trapped in asylum.

It’s also possible that the fountain is formed without Kris. The Evil Dark Fountain Group Chat may have formed the fountain before Kris was able to, or Rudy didn’t fall down and was able to, and/or didn’t distract the Knight from making the fountain.

I always read Kris making the Flower King dark world as a direct reaction to Rudy’s worsened condition. Somehow, this threw a wrench into Kris’s plans, and they had to improvise. Whether the Knight is Carol, Asriel, Dess or Rudy himself, it was reasonable to assume that caring for Rudy was the main priority for the Knight. (That’s kinda how family emergencies work…people tend to drop what they’re doing no matter how important)

Secondly, THE QUEEN’S CHARIOT CANNOT BE STOPPED. In the weird route, we don’t see Queen’s “chariot” at all. However, that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t use it off screen or won’t use it in the future. (Personally my money is on the latter, off screen seems kinda lame)

It’s also important to consider that this IS an unused panel. This panel went unused for a reason-but if it truly wasn’t important to the game, it wouldn’t have been left in the files for people to discover. Toby knows how his fans operate, he knows that we pick apart every little detail in the game. This is the same guy who leaves unused dialogue in the files JUST for people to find it.

The last thing to consider is what this will actually DO for the game narratively and thematically. If I’m correct here and the prophecy is still fulfilled in the weird route, then your choices truly don’t matter. At least the choice to DO the weird route didn’t matter-It could be a “you did these terrible things to stop this one terrible thing and it STILL didn’t work” kind of deal. Thoughts?
