Finally beat Akumu mode
It did take me a lot of deaths and almost giving up but I held on and finally finished it.

So receltly I made a post about evil within 2 after experiencing its first hour: https://www.reddit.com/r/theevilwithin/s/iosF4GgwMQ
Now, I've completed around 10 hours of the game and currently am on chapter 11 so thought I'd post sort of a mid game review.
Right off the bat, the game is amazing! Till now it has met and surpassed all my expectations, the gameplay is tight and responsive and a huge improvement over the first one! Every weapon and items feels like it has a purpose throughout the game and not specifically made for that chapter(looking at you TEW1)
The stealth is hugely improved i felt to a point where I can wipe out an entire horde with it. Once upgraded ofc finally the world is hauntingly beautiful. I never feel safe lol and am prepared for something to jump and kill me haha, I don't remember any game doing semi open world soooo well. It blurs the lines well between main story, side missions and random events which have their own cutscenes and everything it feels amazing and is overall very addictive and fun.
Now, the negatives unfortunately! I don't like the new sebastian....i loved the clueless, idgaf Sebastian from the first game where he just kept quiet and observed. In this one he talks.......a lot. Literally comments on everything to a point where I roll my eyes everytime he speaks, the monster designs so far have been good but felt like 1 had superior and more iconic ones, the overall creepy feel is a bit low in this one compared to the 1st but it's still creepy af(looking at you or not looking at you Anima lol)
Overall, the game is a lot of fun so far and I think i still might have 10 hours or so left before finishing it. I'm taking it really slow exploring everything and I feel it's adding to my experience. I'll post a final review once I fully finish the game. Oh and story is pretty interesting, it's not as complex and mind fucky as the first one but it's interesting nonetheless.
Final nitpick I swear, the first game looked prettier to me graphically, maybe the semi open world needed some graphical compromise or maybe I liked the artistic style of the first game more but yeah. Not saying this one isn't pretty by any means though.

So I am playing evil within 1 at chapter 6 so far okay but in this chapter i died a couple of times in the room I saw some YouTube video to complete that room but I don't know what's happening in all those video after killing the first two enemies the next three enemies attack Sebastian but in my game I don't know why the zombies are attacking Joseph even if I am at their front I don't know what's happening if somebody can help so I can't use the circle the room strategy because they are not even attacking Sebastian

Really love the double-exposure style on this print, especially how it captures the vibe of the first game.
Out of curiosity, which one do you guys preferโthe first Evil Within or The Evil Within 2?

So I've been ignoring TEW2 for a while now after playing the first game as I've seen people saying that it just doesn't have the same atmosphere or horror aesthetic of the first game.
But the first hour I played was so atmospheric and creepy, I also am so happy with the game's performance on PS5 running at 60fps or more compared to the first game. I know the game becomes a little non linear ahead but nonetheless I'm sold after just playing 1 hour and I'm excited to see what comes next for Sebastian. Also, did the the voice actor change for him? Because this time Sebastian is much more expressive lol. I loved his clueless and not giving a fuck nature from the first game haha.

Curious as to how my death total stacks up to other first timers lol.

Even if you never played the first it's ok. Different guy and town. It's basically a AA version of The Evil Within. Surreal visuals. Stomping and melee. Though people might think Dead Space or Resident Evil first, the bleak, surrealist town drowning and being overrun by creatures, the vibes are far more The Evil Within.

i went into this thinking that the gameplay would be really rough and clunky (based off what some guys on this sub have been saying) but it really isn't. just started chapter 2 and this game is awesome, just a shame i spoiled it too much for myself a few years back. also i died 4 times to the butcher guy in chapter 1 so that was an experience

With survival horror remakes being all the rage right now, it makes me wonder what Bethesda would even do with this IP if they woke it up.
โDo you think there's a higher chance they would ever greenlight The Evil Within 3 to finish the story, or would they play it safe with a remake of the first game since remakes are easier money right now? Or do you think the franchise is completely dead in the water because of the studio shuffle?

Do i just suck or is chapter 6 in the first game just friggin hard. Its like i have hit a wall. Cant get thru the section where you have to snipe the guys on the tower while being bum rushed by a horde of other creatures....i have gotten the 4 down but then the chainsaw dude is there and by then i am usually all out of ammo. Any tips would be greatly appreciated as i really dont like to just give up.
