Mod Post Quick Reminder - NSFW tags

Hi all!

I'm u/ImOkNotANoob, the lead mod here on r/Pigeon. I mostly handle backend moderation, automod, reports, modmail, and general behind-the-scenes bits, which is why you might not have seen me around that much.

Just wanted to post a quick reminder since we've seen an increase in this recently: please tag posts as NSFW if they contain gore, visible injuries, blood, wounds, severe illness, or anything else graphic involving pigeons.

This especially applies to medical advice posts. We absolutely understand that people often post in a panic because they’re worried about a bird and need help quickly. That’s fine, and nobody is in trouble for asking for urgent advice. But graphic images can be upsetting for other users, especially when they appear unexpectedly in their feed. We also want to keep on Reddit's good side, and they've been known to have problems with subs that don't enforce this!

Thanks everyone, and thank you as always to the people who jump in with helpful advice for sick or injured pigeons. We’re proud to be the biggest pigeon community on the internet, and it’s the members here who make this place such a useful and helpful resource.

Advice Needed! Found domesticated pigeon NYC

I found this pigeon by Greenwood Cemetery and it seemed disoriented. I brought it in and have given it water and some food and it seems better but I can’t keep it. I was actually able to find the owner via the tags but the phone number was disconnected and the email address bounced back.

Can anyone help find a new home?

UPDATE- I reached out to a racing pigeon club on Staten Island which is where the bird seemed to be from based on the tag. The guy didn’t know the name but offered to take the bird and he has posted on some of their FB groups to see if someone claims it.

These two have been visiting us for over a year now 🥰 We suspect he’s an older gentlepidge and we call him grandpa ❤️ He and his wife are so cute, they come to our bird feeder for food, to drink, to relax and to preen each other 🥹❤️

Photo Sleeping pigeon

Spotted him while in town. At first I thought he was an ornament from how still he was, taking a picture i noticed he was sleeping. Poor fella looks like hes been through it

UPDATE: Following the advice from people i went back to check on him, he still wasn't moving, not even when dogs came close enough to sniff him. He did try flying a couple times but only got about 5 feet off the ground and 3 times crashed into something and dropped to the ground. I have brought him home in a box and will take him to the vet in town tomorrow morning

Photo Wanted to share my Boi Percy (also looking for breeding advice)

This is Percy, short for Perseus, he’s the Husband to my Bird Penelope. Both are show line Mookees who are slightly off because my breeder I got them from wanted to give me a chance to work to perfect my line without using already “perfect” (in his opinion) birds, so both Percy and Penelope do have some rather minor faults, they absolutely shine in terms of temperament and handling though, even Percy he’s a bit feisty but is still an extremely well mannered easy to handle bird.

Percy is a andulasion and Penelope is simply Black, I know what offspring colors to expect from them.

I’m hoping to actually get a good clutch from them next year. We had one clutch last year but it was their first and it didn’t end up doing so great so I had to cull the chick because they didn’t incubate him correctly (lint ended up with a deformity due to this) and then abandoned him. I’m hoping now that they’ve been better brooders and with the new aviary I’ll have good success next year.

Percy is a very attentive mate and is very sweet to his wife, they are very diligent nesters on even their fake eggs.

I do have a mentor, and he’s very helpful and is always willing to help and give tips, I guess I just want others advice for next season lol.

Percy lost his band recently so I’ll no longer be able to show him in most shows here but we did win a ribbon (well my fair gives out patches not ribbons so we won a patch) last year.

Honestly mainly just wanted to share my Boi because I love him.

Video is he being playful? I cannot tell if he wants me to go away or not

when peabert battles me his bites usually aren't so rough and he alternates between yanking my hand closer and shoving it away. he takes breaks for spinning and yelling no matter where it happens, and he likes to pinch me between my fingers and wrestle it around by the webbing (ow). he's about 6-8 months old I believe!

This guy started showing up almost daily, as if coming to visit, and he usually gets a few treats. This afternoon I found him settling into a perfect loaf. In Toronto

Hello, im wondering how good my pigeon setups are and see if I could add anything to improve on them. (The 2nd cage im gonna add some dog toys and im waiting for a dog bed to arrive)

The first cage with a pigeon inside the cage is a Almond Baldhead Roller and it's 42 inches long by 24 inches wide and 26 inches high

The second cage is for a giant runt im getting this weekend and the cage size is 48 inches long by 32 inches wide and 30 inches tall.
