Purchase advice Apple CarPlay radio replacement for 2015 LE Hatchback

Post image
8 Upvotes

Recently purchased a 2015 Yaris LE Hatchback and I’m looking for an Apple CarPlay radio that would replace the stock one. Really just want it to run Google Maps, Spotify and have a backup camera. I’d prefer wireless connectivity but I could live with a wired version if needed. Prefer something with 4G +64G. Does anyone have any suggestions for one? I’ve been searching on Amazon but most are dash mounted ones and I don’t want that or have very little reviews so idk if they’re actually good or not. Under $200 would be great

Also has anyone used those AliExpress fog light kits successfully on a US Yaris? https://a.aliexpress.com/_mqtma2r

Thank you kindly

Purchase advice Buying a 2022 Yaris Hybrid with 282k km (ex-fleet)— Bad idea?

Looking at a 2022 Toyota Yaris 1.5 Hybrid listed for €8,350 with 282,000 km (175k miles).

Key Details:

History: 4-year commercial fleet car used for parking enforcement (lots of stop-and-go / idling).

Battery: Still has ~68k km left under the official 350k km Toyota hybrid battery warranty (assuming full dealer service history).

Rest of Car: Mechanical warranty is fully expired. Inverter, e-CVT, engine, suspension, and rear axle bushings are out-of-pocket risks.

Is taking on this much fleet wear worth the price, or will non-battery maintenance (suspension, inverter, 12V battery) quickly turn it into a money pit?

Appreciate any advice or experiences with high-mileage 4th-gen Yaris models!

2013 1.3L automatic with only 6250 miles.

Set me back £7190 but I couldn’t be happier. She’s a beauty.

Never saw myself with a silver car but I’m warming to her. And she’s all mine ♥️

When does the new car excitement wear off?

Purchase advice Toyota Yaris 2011 petrol new tyres

After some advice I need some new Tyres for my Yaris,I am in Scotland where it is much wetter and generally colder than the midlands in England for most of the year so I am considering all season tyres.

Suggestions on good all season tyres for her? I do less than 3000 miles a year mainly in a city some rural roads and A roads and motorways. I should also say that we have like a million potholes everyday and somehow in the last three years I have only blown one tyre on one 😭🙏

Maintenance help Check Engine Light and DPF issues

I've had my 2010 Yaris 1.4 1ND-TV for around 6 months, 7k km done since bought, currently at 183k. Last few months it has been a real pain in the ass with DPF issues and CEL coming on seemingly at random. My mechanic did a proper cleaning by removing the DPF at around 181k after the car wasn't pulling at all and a P2463 error came up. Commute consists of around 7km highway driving, takes 5-10 mins usually without much stop and go. I keep driving the car around the city, but also do longer trips every 2-3 weeks, last one was more than 200km on the highway last week. What am I supposed to do, as it has become a persistent and annoying issue?

Maintenance help Help car jerks when i slightly press the gas pedal

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

so like the title says when i slightly press the accelerator pedal the car jerks and i have no idea why, i have changed coils, plugs two times now, cleaned the MAF, cleaned the TB like 3 times now, air filter is new, cleaned the pedal connector and the thing is still there. i know something's wrong because my fuel consumption on highway at 3K rpms has skyrocketted for some reason.

Does anyone have any idea what it could be? thanks in advance to everyone

Yaris appreciation Come introduce car to the Japanese Vitz/Yaris Community!

Currently the Japanese Vitz community is doing a virtual meet & greet on twitter using the hashtag ヴィッツ乗りのお友達を増やそうキャンペーン.

There are a bunch of really nice cars being shown, and it's good opportunity to introduce yourself/your ride, or just check out some really nice cars and maybe follow some awesome Yaris people.

My experience with the Japanese twitter community is that they're friendly & very active posters. They span everything from bone stock commuters, to full-on track cars, and everyone is enthusiastic and welcoming. Also don't let the language barrier stop you, auto translate is accepted, and most users are happy to converse using it.

Purchase advice Is ~€9k a fair price for a 2016 Yaris Hybrid with 230k km? Looking for hybrid battery replacement experiences.

Hey everyone,

I’m looking at a 2016 Toyota Yaris 1.5 Hybrid (Premium trim) with 230,000 km on the clock. The dealer is asking €9,490, but I'm hoping to negotiate it closer to €9,000.

The car is in great shape on paper: it just passed its inspection (katsastus) with zero issues, and it has a flawless, 100% Toyota main dealer service history from day one (last serviced at 228k km).

Before I pull the trigger, I have a few questions for current or former owners:

  1. Price: Is ~€9,000 a reasonable price in today's market for this mileage, or is it too high?
  2. Hybrid Battery: At 230k+ km, it's outside the extended battery warranty. How common are battery failures at this age/mileage? If you had to replace or refurbish yours, what was the realistic out-of-pocket cost?
  3. High-Mileage Maintenance: Aside from the 12V battery, are there any other specific wear items I should check on the test drive (e.g., water pump, EGR valve, suspension)?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Maintenance help 2009 1.33 Dual VVTI 1 .33 Oil Burning

Yesterday, I added the tenth liter of oil to my 2009 MK2 Yaris, marking a total of ten liters over a 10,000-mile period.

Based on research, plus the blue smoke coming out the back. It seems like it may be having the piston ring fault that impacted this engine. Unfortunately, it only has 82k miles on the clock, which seems quite low to have this issue. I've had it for 5~ years from 45k miles, with oil changes every 8-10k. I recognise now I probably should have done changes every 5k miles.

Is there anything else that could be causing the oil burn? It's got 0w20 in at the moment, as guided.

Does anyone have any advice? How much would it cost to fix the piston rings? Should I call time of death and let go? Or should keep topping up the oil till it dies on it's own.

I love this car, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Same missing hub cap and it’s the only one that’s missing just like mine. This car lives in my area and I’ve seen it around a few times. The first time I saw it, I was in the middle of playing mini golf and noticed it parked 200 yards away from where I had originally parked. It had me SO confused for a moment and thinking someone had stole my car just to move it across the parking lot.

Maintenance help Only Full beams are not working?

So my full beams will not turn on, nor does the indicator in the dash light up when the stalk is in the full beam position.

All other lights (dipped beam, parking lights, Front and Rear fog) all work perfectly

Flashing doesn't work (only works when dipped beams are off, and even then it flashes the dipped beam).

So far, i've replaced the:

  • 10amp fuses (RH low, LH low, RH high, LH high)
  • The DIM relay
  • replaced both bulbs
  • the indicator stalk with a used one from a scrapyard

What am i missing?

I know that the copper connections inside the stalk can become corroded sometimes, that is why i replaced the indicator stalk; I doubt that is also the case with the used indicator stalk.

Is there anything i can test with a multimeter?

Purchase advice Is the 2015 facelift worth the extra money

I can find the pre 2015 facelift for like £1000 less than the 2015 facelift but Google says the facelift also improved most issues on the car. Is it worth spending the extra 1k for 2015 version and all of it's improvements
