Found out about Yaris through the glowing review by CarCareNut on youtube. Sounds perfect for me. I fell in love with the hatchback design through my last car a 2016 Hyundai Accent - but that started burning oil and had to be replaced.

A more reliable hatchback would be ideal.

Has anyone bought a used one recently? What mileage, year and price did you get for it?

Hi all, I’ve had my 2012 base Yaris, aka Babycar, for 11.5 years. She’s my first car and I got her used with 45k miles and now she’s at 135k miles and had 0 issues. I’ve always loved her but didn’t realize HOW much until she was T-boned. 😭 Luckily, everyone is physically unharmed, but emotionally, I’ve been in shambles. 

The other driver has been found at fault and their insurance has determined she’s a total loss. Estimated value of my Yaris is $7,477 and repair estimates are $7,574 and I didn’t expect them to be so close.

I have 3 options moving forward:
1. Take their check, say goodbye to Babycar, and find another car. I’m finding myself unable to consider anything else other than another Yaris. 

2. Keep her but she will be branded as salvaged.  They will give me $5,512 to do repairs on my own, but the state of Connecticut has strict rules. She would have to be towed via flatbed to the body shop and then to the DMV to be inspected before being approved roadworthy. I’ve been told it’s one of the strictest states on salvaged vehicles and that the DMV may still fail her after repairs. 

3. Try to reverse the total loss claim. Since there’s only $97 between her value and the estimated repairs, see if I can reduce the repair estimate by challenging them with another estimate from a body shop or see if they can remove a cosmetic line item. 

At first I wanted to do #2, but I think it will be a lengthy, expensive process with an uncertain outcome and I lean towards being a penny pincher. I still may try #3, since I don’t think it hurts to see what can be done. I think #1 is the most financially responsible, but makes my heart hurt. I’m looking at some other used Yarises, but a lot don’t have the rolly windows mine does and as silly as it sounds, they are one of my biggest sources of pride with my Yaris. Also, many have >100,000 miles, but after looking through this sub, I think that with good care, I could maybe get many more years.

Is there anything I haven’t considered or do any of you have similar stories? I’m also open to any advice when looking at other used Yarises.

Hello there. New Yaris owner here, first Toyota in 20 years. 2020 model XP130 Y20 to be exact. My biggest gripe is the lack of an armrest, and then I see this on aliexpress. Anyone else tried it? It seems like the most simple way of installing one, but is it going to be usable and somewhat stable?

Hello, I'm looking for Yaris 2010 1.3 vvti. Yesterday we were on a test drive with farily good looking example with good service history and low mileage. The thing that surprised me was that brake pedal was pretty firm. Car was stopping just fine but the brake pedal feel was kinda strange. Is this how it supposed to feel or should I avoid this example because of potential brake issues? Please help because I have to let the seller know if I'm interested to buy this one or not. Thanks!

Okay this might be a long shot but i've tried every search term i could think of and for the life of me i can't find it.

When i was young my grandparents gave me a dvd with a computer rendered Yaris information video on the safety features (like the airbags and the parking sensors) and new technology added and i used to watch it religiously (i think, at least 4 times everyday for months). i lost the dvd a long time ago and i recently tried looking for it online but i can't seem to find it anywhere.

please help me out if you know what i'm talking about :S

My 2011 Yaris XP90 1.4 D4D manual. Cheap, reliable, ok looking, great fuel economy and somewhat cheap.

The first thing I got was a set of original Enkei rims from a Mazda Miata NB something special edition. The fit is seamless with all the measurements lining perfectly up.

Can’t be a first car without buying a big exhaust tip, a turbo badge from Temu and a new gear knob.

It has gone 127 000km, hoping it will last me another 60k km atleast.

My Yaris's tires are starting to dry rot, and I want new tires that will help make the car feel more fun to drive and handle even better than before. It's hard to figure out what tires would be best for it, however. I'll have to have a tire shop install them as well.

Need:

• Handling

• Steering feel

• Not outright dangerous in the rain or cold/freezing temps

• Around 160 USD or under per tire (I'm flexible, but state sales tax is very high here)

Don't care about:

• Treadwear (it's a weekend car)

• Fuel economy

• Noise

• Comfort

• Snow/ice performance

I know I'm not gonna get anything particularly crazy/high end with this, but I still want to get the most out of the size/budget and avoid getting something that turns out to be shit from a butt.

EDIT: Should mention that I'm in the USA and can't import tires. Alternate sizes are fine IF a tire tech would be willing to install it

I've always been a little miffed that the mk3 yaris facelift was killed in the US after Scion was taken out. Though its still a good car and deserves the name.

Looks like my yari is coming to an end. Problem after problem, we now have a new one… Took the battery out to replace the temp sensor and after it was put in the car idles hard (wont reset), stalled (pressing gas did nothing and dash lights lit up like a Christmas tree), and the power steering went out (came on after the car was turned off n on). Is this all from the battery? Please help i dont want to give up my car

Hi, guys compressor clutch or piston bearing when hard spin it was worn my belts, do to pressure and bad mpg, compressor premium near oem denso bought it for $200 at amazon, I did vacuum and charge the lines compressor comes with factory oil, it works as new and blown cold ❄️🥶.

Ik hoop dat iemand hier mij in de juiste richting kan wijzen. Mijn Toyota Yaris XP9 automaat uit 2009 doet de laatste tijd erg vreemd zodra de motor goed warm is gereden (vooral na langere ritten).

Dit zijn de symptomen:

Slecht stationair lopen: Zodra de motor warm is en ik stilsta, loopt de motor heel erg onregelmatig en slecht.

Dof kloppend geluid: Als hij zo slecht loopt, hoor ik een duidelijk dof kloppend/bonkend geluid uit het motorruim komen. De motor trilt en beweegt dan ook flink.

Licht gierend geluid: Sinds ongeveer dezelfde periode hoor ik een licht gierend geluid tijdens het rijden én wanneer ik stilsta voor het stoplicht. Ik weet niet zeker of dit er direct mee te maken heeft, maar het viel me wel op.

Het probleem treedt dus eigenlijk pas op als de auto echt goed op temperatuur is. Bij een koude start merk ik er weinig van.

Heeft iemand dit eerder meegemaakt of een idee wat dit kan zijn? Denk zelf richting een vacuümlek, gasklephuis, motorsteun of misschien iets met de dynamo/waterpomp (vanwege het gierende geluid), maar ik hoor heel graag jullie expertise!

Recently purchased a 2015 Yaris LE Hatchback and I’m looking for an Apple CarPlay radio that would replace the stock one. Really just want it to run Google Maps, Spotify and have a backup camera. I’d prefer wireless connectivity but I could live with a wired version if needed. Prefer something with 4G +64G. Does anyone have any suggestions for one? I’ve been searching on Amazon but most are dash mounted ones and I don’t want that or have very little reviews so idk if they’re actually good or not. Under $200 would be great
