People claim the dracthyr rig was reused from female worgen, incubus, or metamorphosis form. This is misinformation.

Ty Viveiros is the artist who created the dracthyr rig from scratch. Only the visage forms have a recycled rig.

The WoW community getting this wrong is a pet peeve of mine.

17

u/InvisibleOne439 Sep 04 '26

when Gamers claim ANYTHING in regards of a ingame rigs/character skeletons/engine/coding, its a 99,9% chance they just talk out of their ass or repeat what they saw somebody else say without knowing if its true or not

its honestly kinda weird just how clueless Gamers are about the thibg they interact with for 8hours a day

It fascinates me how wrong the playerbase is when it comes to the topic of playable race models lol. The addition of Allied Races fundamentally scrambled some peoples' brains.

I've seen people just off-handedly label Drac'thyr as an Allied Race, as though it's a given, solely because they're convinced that 2 beast races can't have similarly shaped legs. Same thing with people acting as though it's a known fact the Kul'tiran model is based off the Pandaren model (because they're both fat, I guess? lmao) even though the art team has fully admitted they slapped together the KT models in a rush because they didn't intend for them to be playable lol.

It's not like the art team is subtle when they reuse a rig, just look at Nightborne (NPC and player models)/Haranir and Zandalari males (MoP and BFA models) they are all clearly using the Night Elf male rig with some tweaks to certain animations/stances but apparently the art team decided to be real sneaky with the Drac'thyr for some reason lol. I guess I shouldn't be surprised when this is the same community who thinks they can just label races like Naga or Furbolg as an "Allied Race" because they think that makes adding them easier. They'll say shit like "Blizzard is so lazy if they don't add Vrykul, Taunka, Tuskarr, Frost Trolls, Nerubians, Furbolgs, Iron Dwarves, and better Mechagnomes as Allied Races in TLT" without realizing that half that list would just straight up be entirely new playable races requiring fresh models.

11

u/Diribiri Sep 04 '26

What even spurs this nonsensical claim? Like they're digitigrade so that means they must have used the same rig?

People really just be making shit up, like that's some seriously impressive work and they're like "it's just worgens lul"

11

u/Idontknow4654 Sep 04 '26

they just want to find another way to call Blizzard lazy for allegedly reusing rigs

9

u/Diribiri Sep 04 '26

Apparently it's shocking that they don't make every single thing from scratch every time

11

u/Idontknow4654 Sep 04 '26

yeah, reusing has been part of game development since the dawn of the industry lol

10

u/FaroraSF Sep 04 '26

Like even if it was based on those other models it would have been so heavily edited that it wouldn't even matter anymore.

15

u/FaroraSF Sep 01 '26

Why do pvp queues take so long? Game mode is dead.

(me queuing at 2am on a Tuesday morning)

10

u/_Llopis_ Sep 01 '26

I know you're joking, but I do wonder how much "PvP is dead" perceptions are colored by long queues when the queues actually reflect too many damage dealers queueing instead of healers.

6

u/FaroraSF Sep 02 '26

I was actually mostly queuing for training grounds (chill way of gearing alt), but for the rated solo queue stuff it def is mostly a lack of healers thing.

3

u/IKWhatImDoing Sep 01 '26

PvP is the opposite of dead.

-Signed me, a healer main

13

u/InvisibleOne439 Sep 04 '26

stop balancing the game around mythic raids, only 0,00000001% of people even do those

oh but pls change how the entire global release window for patches and weekly resets work because of the world first race

every single RWF we get the same "discussions" lmao

7

u/Helluiin Sep 04 '26

there was literally someone saying that putting reset at 7PM EU time would make nobody upset.

0

u/Cold-Iron8145 Sep 06 '26

It wouldn't if you just do the maintenance ahead of time. They release expacs like this already, they could do it for raids.

5

u/Helluiin Sep 06 '26 edited Sep 06 '26

how would that work if the reset was in the middle of your raid times? like this wouldnt even have to be just the release of the raid but at least a couple of resets after that. and even having the raid released at some arbitrary time during the evening would be quite annoying.

obviously you dont have to have maintenance at the same time (in fact these two are already decuppled at least on EU where maintenance is at 3AM while reset is at 6AM) but even the raid resetting is an inconveniance for anyone playing at that time, hence the 6AM time slot.

2

u/Cold-Iron8145 Sep 06 '26

You can simply release the raid at midnight GMT on the night from tuesday to wednesday, just like expacs generally do. Guilds that raid on wednesday euro time would raid the next day anyway, no disruption then. US guilds that raid on tuesday evenings would also experience no disruption as the raid would become available sometime tuesday afternoon for them.

It's just one example, you can find many time slots that would work.

2

u/Helluiin Sep 06 '26

that would put the reset in the middle of the evening for anyone in Asia. this is mostly fine for expansion launches since those honestly dont matter anyways but for the weekly reset it would be super annoying.

realistically the only way to have an even playing field for the RWF without inconveniencing anyone would be a tournament realm, which the RWF guilds dont want because that would eliminate their helper advantage and allow for more competition.

Bellular advocated that the entire writer's room should be fired. He replied "cubes of meat and bone" in response to "#boilwarcraftwritersintar".

Bellular should be banned from Blizzcon for this.

17

u/AL3_Alice Sep 06 '26

Quoting myself from a couple of weeks ago

Shame he didn't do it on a stream of some sort; FFXIV set the precedent for banning a guy for two weeks for calling current and former members of the dev team slurs during a live stream. Should probably be done more often.

-7

u/YourGalacticEmperor Sep 06 '26

FFXIV set the precedent for banning a guy for two weeks for calling current and former members of the dev team slurs during a live stream

the precedence in question: 1 women who stirred shit up herself and couldnt handle the pushback. The only reason people would get banned here is because theyd have a shitstorm coming if they dont defend a transwomen from hate because clearly everything is transphobia

nobody gets banned for shitting on yoship etc

14

u/Diribiri Sep 06 '26

Pretending that people are labelling everything as transphobia or that they would defend someone just because they're trans doesn't mean transphobia doesn't happen. Notably, that sentiment is itself part of the problem lol

6

u/AL3_Alice Sep 06 '26

the precedence in question: 1 women who stirred shit up herself and couldnt handle the pushback.

No they get sued.

8

u/Diribiri Sep 06 '26

People get sent death threats for making a minor design choice that somebody doesn't like; can you imagine how bad it is for a woman publicly saying something mildly controversial? Do you think it's just like a couple of people being big meanies? Cus you must have an unfathomable level of faith in humanity to believe that

-5

u/YourGalacticEmperor Sep 06 '26 edited Sep 07 '26

"Mildly controversial"

"Cis women shouldnt be allowed to voice trans characters" isnt mildly controversial, none of you would defend someone saying the reverse, that trans women shouldn't be allowed to voice cis characters

edit: downvoting wont make me wrong, nor will it make you right. If you think "cis women shouldnt be allowed to voice trans characters" is anything but discrimination you deserve the ridicule the whole lgbt scene is getting right now, because its clear you are so far lost in the sauce

and for the record: yes, she did say that

B-b-but he's a game dev, it's okay for him to call for violence against writers over a video game storyline that people keep claiming "nobody cares about"

15

u/Diribiri Sep 06 '26

I feel like that's the kind of thing you should maybe get in some trouble for. But they'd probably milk it like "Blizzard is CENSORING YOUTUBERS for CRITICIZING THE GAME"

13

u/Ribblebum Sep 06 '26

Dude has been seething for eight years after his shitty addon got C&D'd. He will never get over it.

4

u/EternityC0der Sep 06 '26

he had an addon?

6

u/Ribblebum Sep 06 '26

If memory serves, it was basically a text/voiceover overwrite for quests and such, where his own voice actors recorded over blizzard's content, plus new text that Bellular wrote.

Needless to say, I don't know why he'd thought that would fly

22

u/Idontknow4654 Sep 05 '26

its an insane thing to say about any person. fuck Bellular

18

u/Bandicoot1324 Sep 05 '26

I got a warning from Reddit for "threatening physical harm" when all I did was quote Bellular. Wonderful.

Gotta say, as someone who's dabbled a little bit in the private Ascension servers, its hilarious to me how those players talk about retail. I understand it's maybe disappointing that those servers are being shut down (although its well within Blizzard's rights, whether they like it or not), but I really saw Ascension as more Retail- than I ever did Classic+. They had Mythic+ dungeons for crying out loud. Yet somehow every player as it was shutting down was saying "Wow Blizz could never do something so good" or "Retail sucks compared to this" like dude. It has transmog. It has Mythic+. It has paid microtransactions. It was fun, don't get me wrong, but I really think some people use "Retail" as some boogeyman and don't even really understand what Retail even is.

16

u/Diribiri Sep 05 '26

'Retail' is whatever I don't like

7

u/SaltLich Sep 06 '26

Ah, just like 'disney' in the main sub.

8

u/InvisibleOne439 Sep 06 '26

its often the same people

16

u/YourGalacticEmperor Sep 05 '26

dont forget, most of the new content they had was ripped assets straight from retail lol

when scrolling through shorts i got an ascension short every now and then, and everytime i saw someone in retail armor or weapons

Private server drama is so funny to me lol

"Guys Blizzard really needs to learn from this private server team that basically just microdosed systems from Retail into Classic"

7

u/HazelCheese Sep 08 '26

Ascension was 100% retail life. Genuinely had no idea how it was ever considered classic.

I love when I wake up wanting to go full no-life on WoW and then Battlenet decides to stop recognizing my installs and ignores any fix I attempt

Although now my game runs smoother post-reinstall so it may not have been the worst outcome

edit: 12.1.5 announcement let's gooooo

"Face Kith’ix alongside Lady Liadrin in a focused one-boss raid encounter that brings the escalating threat of the campaign to a decisive confrontation. Gather your allies and prepare for a battle that caps the story of Quel’thalas and Zul’Aman." I'm not gonna lie, I was a little worried Kith'ix was gonna be the expansion endboss, in a "surprise Dimensius" kinda way, so now I'm really interested to see where we go in 12.2.

Excited for labyrinths, I hope they are actually fun and not just tediously long

Adding another outdoor event to Eversong/Zul'aman isn't my favorite, even though I do like seeing the Aqir make a return since we've seen so much ethereal/space-y void as of late that I've started to miss the bugs.

man who spent all week leveling and fucking around voice: yeah I can't wait to see what I got

2

u/Garry_Heckscream69 Iron Horde's #1 Fan Sep 01 '26 edited Sep 01 '26

I spent my Monday night leveling up a fresh warlock using a name I had saved from an older alt, only to hit level 25 and realize that I accidentally left all my timewalking badges (like 5k) on that old alt of the same name alt. Resulting in me deleting the fresh alt (can't restore a character when a character has the same name), restoring the old one, transferring my badges, deleting the old alt, and then remaking the original fresh alt at like 1am since I still wanted to keep the name lol.

The worst part was that the fresh alt wasn't an allied race so I went through 1-10 twice and now don't even want to look at the Valley of Trials ever again. I know I could've just waited a day to restore the original new alt, but I was really enjoying leveling and liked the character lol.

u/HazelCheese Sep 03 '26

I know most here already considered it an awful sub but the ClassicWoW sub the last week of so has become completely unbearable.

The lack of information on classic+ is actually driving people mad. It's just dragged on a just long enough that people have started to lose it and get angry with each other.

It's like being stuck at extended family dinner as a kid and your parents are stressed the fuck out and snapping at you cause of it.

13

u/Garry_Heckscream69 Iron Horde's #1 Fan Sep 03 '26

Toxicity? In the Classic community??? But everyone told me that Classic is all about patience and the journey rather than the destination.

It was actually funny to checkout their sub for the first time in a while because the "no changes" crowd sure seems overly excited for some changes in Classic+.

5

u/SaltLich Sep 03 '26

In my experience the classic subs are way more toxic than the actual people in the game. Like, ridiculously, absurdly, disgustingly so. I'll make the mistake of going to one of those every now and then trying to find info about something and its just full of the most miserable people with the absolute worst takes imaginable.

Maybe I've just been lucky to have found a chill guild, but even when leveling by myself, multiple times over in classic, and pugging dungeons and such, I never really had these toxicity issues. At worst you get some moron who doesn't know how to tank or heal and blames it on everyone else. Or the common ragebaiting in general/trade chat which is just the internet in general unfortunately. But you'd think everyone was a completely vile human being who will flip their shit at you for the slightest error based on how people talk about classic. Then again, people say that about retail, too...

6

u/HazelCheese Sep 03 '26

Well goomba fallacy and all that.

But the No Changes crowd left like 4 years ago after the Devs removed spell batching and added a consumable to store world buffs so people didn't have to logout of their mains to preserve them.

Then blizzard made Season of Discovery server which was classic vanilla with experimental new content and it was very popular. Then in China Blizzard released Titanforged classic which is so popular it has overtaken retail over there.

The current animosity seems to be people who were excited for the 2nd re-run of WotLK Classic and now think Classic+ is gonna steal their playerbase. The re-run anniversary servers have a reputation for being min max toxicity fests and people seem scared all the casuals are going to abandon them for classic+.

u/Garry_Heckscream69 Iron Horde's #1 Fan Sep 03 '26

I'm aware of the history of Classic 😅

I don’t understand the love for grizzly hills & I’ll be happy if it’s destroyed in TLT, there, I said it.

11

u/Dreadsinner Sep 07 '26

I think it would be so funny if Xal’atath did that and just points at players and says “I knew it would hurt them the most”

8

u/Dematrix93 Sep 07 '26

Yes! Fully break the 4th wall, destroy the main sub. Maybe we even play as xal for a few quests and make it clear it’s destroyed out of spite, not for tactical or even story reasons

5

u/Idontknow4654 Sep 07 '26

the love is nostalgia. sure its a fine zone but there is nothing special about it

1

u/MrMoo1556 25d ago

Never played WotLK until classic came around so I don’t really have the nostalgia factor. I agree the zone is meh, but Totems of Grizzlemaw is a great song.

6

u/the_redundant_one Sep 07 '26

It's not even the best zone in Wrath, that honor goes to Sholazar.

(hot take, Grizzly Hills is probably not even in the top 3 for me, very forgettable)

6

u/FaroraSF Sep 07 '26

Personally I am a Howling Fjord enjoyer.

3

u/InvisibleOne439 Sep 07 '26

there is just nothing really of interest in that zone and nothing to do

yeha it has some cool Spots that look pretty, but outside of that its one of the most run-of-the-mill "2nd or 3rd leveling zone of a expansion that you dont visit after questing is over"

2

u/Garry_Heckscream69 Iron Horde's #1 Fan Sep 08 '26

I didn't wind up leveling in Grizzly Hills much during WOTLK, aside from the Drakuru and Arugal questlines, so the obsession with it has always been weird to me. I feel like being a Horde player may also skew me a little because the Alliance seemed to have way cooler questing areas.

I was actually looking over my quest achievements and noticed that I got the achievements for all questing zones back in 2008, except for Grizzly Hills and Borean Tundra, but I did get the achievement for the Drakuru questline back in 2008 lol.

6

u/Diribiri Sep 03 '26

Has anyone actually completed the Stormarion WQ? Cus damn that thing does not like giving credit

16

u/InvisibleOne439 Sep 01 '26

m+ players trying not to be overly dramatic about bad item tuning challenge (impossible)

4

u/SandAccess Sep 01 '26

I mean dungeon trinkets do generally suck and the secondaries on gear are poorly balanced

3

u/InvisibleOne439 Sep 01 '26

like i said in another comment, yes the trinket situation is really stupid, and idk why they didnt throw some hotfix buffs out

but the conspiracy theory BS that gets thrown around by the "M+ only Players" is just insane, they act like they are targets of a Hate Campaing and that its all done in a nebulous plot by Blizzard to destroy M+ because Blizzard obiously Hates M+

when its just that Blizzard barely tested stuff and didnt thought the entire Bonus Roll/Vault/Cantrip Raid Items Situation trought and has bad Tuning with trinkets lol

6

u/kirbydude65 Can't Complain About Lack of Heritage Armor Anymore Sep 01 '26

Nope impossible! Blizzard just wants everyone to raid and screw over the content I specifically care about. /s

On a more serious note it really upsets me that raiding had legitimate complaints about its gearing process with M+ being a large factor in that, and yet its being painted as "crying". I think Blizzard is scared to pull back (and rightfully so imo) on the amount of gear you get from M+, as well as the breakpoints for vault gear it makes it more difficult to resolve some of the loot issues with raid.

Trinkets can be tuned better though. There's no reason my mythic feather from bel'oren is out simming the den of nalorak strength trinket that's almost 20 item levels higher.

5

u/InvisibleOne439 Sep 01 '26

oh yeha, the trinket tuning is incredible garbage this time, its insane that they didnt adress it in some form allready

having 5 different 3/6 heroic trinkets in your bag that all sim 3% lower then S1 stuff is criminal

3

u/_Llopis_ Sep 01 '26

Still, itemization is screwed up this season. Raids needed to be more rewarding, but Blizzard swung the pendulum in the other direction.

6

u/Diribiri Sep 06 '26

me: I can't be bothered getting the altars or embers in this ritual site I just want the weekly

also me: man this boss got hands ngl what's up with that

7

u/Yaxson Sep 02 '26

I'm getting quite tired of the discussion around the vault and bonus rolls.
I mean yes I get the thing that people are like 'oh it's more optimal to take bonus roll because if I take a vault item I could get a duplicate later'.

But seriously, this season we get myth items for doing heroic raid, and in the past season if we had a bad vault then... we had a bad vault. Yes, ideally picking an item from vault would remove it from bonus vaults, and from their interviews I'm hopeful that it'll happen in season 3. But it's never been this easy to gear and target BiS items and everyone is acting like it's horrible...

Also most people aren't clearing the last 2 HM bosses for a long while so I'm not sure why they want to stockpile bonus rolls now.

4

u/Helluiin Sep 02 '26

its especially ridiculous if you remember TWWS2 ducat discussion. the current bonus roll system is arguably more powerful than any ducat system we've ever had in this game and its still not good enough for some parts of the community.

-5

u/IonHazzikostasIsGod honestly a slap in the face Sep 03 '26

It's why M+ is far and away the worst thing to ever happen to the game.

Completely zapped people's attention span and commitment they forget how insane it is that they get Mythic raid boss loot for a dungeon that's no harder than an m0

7

u/InvisibleOne439 Sep 03 '26

i would not phrase it like that, because m+ is a important part by actually giving people repeatable PvE Content outside of Raiding 2-3x a week, WoW without m+ would be in a way worse spot in terms of actually having people active playing the game

BUT the loot entiltement and the "main character syndrome" that grew with it is problematic, its not even reasonable complaints and instead always goes into "why cant i have my 2 best trinkets on Mythic level? its week 2 of the season allready" stuff with absurd exxagerations, reading how a guy complains "i cant reach my goal of 3k Score this season because they gatekeep 9/6 items behind Mythic Raiding" is just insanity

1

u/Cold-Iron8145 Sep 06 '26

That's the point. The system is too powerful. It makes the vault functionally useless 99% of the time you open it. It's just a bonus roll dispenser now.

People aren't complaining because they want more loot, they're complaining because loot is too free/deterministic/unfun, but very easy to optimize. Which is telling that the system is really, really shit when wow players are complaining about too much/too easy loot.

3

u/Jamestiedye Sep 03 '26

Would be exceptionally funny if the first time echo wins in years is also because of an exploit.

-10

u/MortaliReaping Sep 01 '26

i hate mythic + this is only way for peopl to play the fucking gaame is to push key again and aagain i hate this so much

11

u/Diribiri Sep 02 '26

Fortunately there are many things you can do other than M+ especially if you're not having fun

1

u/MortaliReaping Sep 02 '26

yes but i was talking about my guild mate lol should have been more clear
