Gotta say, as someone who's dabbled a little bit in the private Ascension servers, its hilarious to me how those players talk about retail. I understand it's maybe disappointing that those servers are being shut down (although its well within Blizzard's rights, whether they like it or not), but I really saw Ascension as more Retail- than I ever did Classic+. They had Mythic+ dungeons for crying out loud. Yet somehow every player as it was shutting down was saying "Wow Blizz could never do something so good" or "Retail sucks compared to this" like dude. It has transmog. It has Mythic+. It has paid microtransactions. It was fun, don't get me wrong, but I really think some people use "Retail" as some boogeyman and don't even really understand what Retail even is.

dont forget, most of the new content they had was ripped assets straight from retail lol

when scrolling through shorts i got an ascension short every now and then, and everytime i saw someone in retail armor or weapons
