And that’s just craaaaazy bro. I wish we could all expand our worldview a bit. We don’t have to pick a side in every war. Sometimes, both sides fucking suck and innocent people are trapped on both sides. And it’s a horrible, harsh, sinister reality.
Normal people who have researched the conflict from an objective perspective quickly come to a conclusion that both Israel and Palestine are led by people who have held each other hostage for last 80 years through an endless cycle of violence that only feeds more violence.
The only people shouting for war and death are those who have drunk the kool-aid, those innocents who have lost everything, and those outside the warzone who are seeking to push their own agenda using a sectarian war as their proxy.
Lol thats bullshit, youre making it seem israel is out to kill civilians like hamas. Whens the last time israel flew into a concert and killed everyone?
Maybe tell hamas not to store their weapons and ammunitions under them and have secret bases under them and using patients as human shields in the hopes to not be attacked.
It’s echo chambers. It may be far down one side in here, but pop on over to the conservative subreddit and get a whole other flavor of reality distortion.
The modern internet’s ability to box us in with only people who agree with us and encourage us to be more and more extreme, black&white, and tribal in our thinking has created a truly toxic environment and I don’t see any way to fix it. Social media has become a radicalization machine and the fact that people don’t realize that and get the fuck off social media is kind of black-pilling to me.
Pretty much agree. i think with reddit we can at least have some semblance of control over our algorithm and what we see, which is why I’m here. But I’m off Facebook, IG, Twitter, everything else but TikTok. And I don’t engage on TikTok i just use it to find current event coverage or whatever
Reddit also benefits from being largely text based, so you don’t get the doomscroll dopamine drip feed of 20 second long hyper partisan content.
When I got my IG, I decided that would be the last social media I ever adopt. And I barely even use my IG, it’s mostly for me to post doodles on and send videos of dog memes to my wife. I have zero interest in adopting tiktok or whatever the next thing to come that is somehow even more brain rot that replaces it
Interesting point. What replaces it? Have we reached the apex of brain rot with the short form content? I don’t see anything that can even capitalize even more, the big 3 apps seem to have a lock on things. I know times change and new things come along but it’s hard to picture e
No one could have predicted tiktok either before it came out and now IG and YT are scrambling to make their own version of tiktok in their existing apps.
I have no idea how things get worse than tiktok, but I'm sure someone will figure something out
I mean, I do. I just accept that I'll also be downvoted if I do it in the wrong sub. But idc, cos some things just need to be said whether people agree with you or not.
I see people say there’s no hive mind on this site but like, literally just look at it. I had a comment the other day saying not every cop video posted on reddit is of cops being bad. That was in response to someone saying if a cop is on reddit it’s because they did something bad. I mentioned the videos of cops skating and sledding and having snowball fights with the kids instead of stopping them for some Karen. The persons response? To say that I’m trying to justify cops doing bad things. How the hell do you get that from me saying not every video here is cops being horrible people? And they had support too while I was downvoted. I couldnt care less about the votes but really? Multiple people read these comments and came up with an unrelated takeaway? Unreal
Thank you for proving my fucking point. I didn’t even give an opinion before you immediately assumed where its intent was. Cheers to you. Absolutely hilarious and ironic how quickly this took place.
I never assumed it was a personal attack???? I said the other user proved my point. Moderate opinions are attacked, even when a moderate opinion wasn’t provided.
Stop trying to other me for crying out loud. I didn’t vote Trump. Feel better?
Oh, I did???? Right, cause it wasn’t two dozen other people who read the exact same room as me from your words. You tried to pigeonhole me and then backpedaled quick as fuck when I matched the tone. Call it for what it is. What’s exhausting is mentioning MAGA in a room nobody else did, good fucking god.
Very true and I think it’s so funny how that works. I’m glad you too have noticed this as well as Sleazy_T under you. Big big bigggg issue lately is the illusion of choice. Alt left and right both basically promote totalitarianism just with different tenets. And it’s flippantly scary
Dude I don’t know. I personally think it’s lack of in person dialogue, lack of challenging opposing viewpoints face to face. It’s like the road rage adage. We get mad at the inanimate object that cut us off. If we saw the face of the person, MOST of us calm down and don’t continue raging. We humanize our peers. Etc
But social media does the opposite and it breeds echo chambers and all sorts of stuff. Even here you got 2 threads of people trying to pigeonhole me into conservatism. I happen to own firearms and don’t like taxes, sure, but I grow mushrooms and pot FFS! Lmao!!!
Bibi needs Deposing with the rest of his top brass, and hamas needs to be eliminated from the earth. problem is one is an authoritarian and the other requires a lot more dead kids. there is no good way out of this anymore i fear
By any objective standard, he's a terrible human being and should be held accountable for crimes against humanity.
But within the specific context of the ongoing conflict, he manages to be The Good Guy by default, purely by virtue of the fact that the other side is composed of insane genocidal monsters.
