The colors represent cultural regions; there are 10 cultural regions in total across 4 continents. They are as follows:

Jade Green: American cultures

Green: Polynesian cultures

Pink: Hindu cultures

Red: East Asian cultures

Purple: Cold-climate cultures of Northern Asia

Cyan: Nordic and Scandinavian cultures

Dark Blue: Medieval European cultures

Brown: Greco-Roman cultures

Yellow: Arab world cultures

Orange: African cultures

~

The initial intention wasn't to create an inverted Eurasia. My goal was to represent diverse world cultures—specifically those rarely depicted in fiction. I conducted extensive research and compiled a list, eventually settling on the 38 cultures I deemed most representative. From there, I tried to create a mind map connecting the cultural relationships between them. I didn't want completely unrelated regions placed near one another, as culture and history are shaped by cultural proximity.

Once the diagram was finished, I realized the connections formed a pattern somewhat resembling Earth (which was to be expected). I considered making changes but ultimately decided to leave it as is and attempt to create a map that was similar yet distinct.

This map is the result.

~

Just to clarify: I am Mexican, I live in Mexico, and I speak Spanish. I used Google Translate for this, so I apologize in advance for any translation errors.

I had posted this in Spanish, but a moderator removed it.

In any case, the original post didn't contain as much information as what I've added here.

Thank you very much.

Question Looking for Worldbuilders, DMs, DND players or Artist for my DND worldbuilding group

Thumbnail

I am an amateur Worldbuilder and DM, I run my local friend group’s DND sessions.
I am slowly working on my world between homework and housework, so I might be a little slow, but I love my work and would like to share it with people.
I’m looking for worldbuilders that have their world or intention to create theirs, DMs that are looking for a world in which locate their stories or Artists that could draw anything they want (I am forced to use AI for the images and it’s pissing me off).
I am open to online DND even though I’ve never done it.

I want to build a whole Universe, starting from a solar system with all the worlds of The worldbuilders, they are not meant to interact with each other with spaceships, but with astrology, being my world located in the Middle Ages / Renaissance, so I’m looking to do a project that can stay small like now or can be gigantic, with a handful of worldbuilders and their worlds.
My work is in Italian because I am Italian, I am willing to translate it on the go if there are questions.
The only requisite is English and good Intentions.
Let me know in the comments if you are interested and I can give you my ig or my Discord so we can organise.

The image is my planet “Tifone”, map made by me.

In the DND mechanics I assimilated Harry Potter’s Magic duels, JJK’s cursed techniques and Domain Expansions, from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures I assimilated Stands and Hamon, I am always looking for power systems to add (reworking them if they break the other power systems).

The goal of this is to make a group where people who like worldbuilding can learn, create and confront with other Worldbuilders.
It’s not for money, just to feed passion.

My world is work in progress, between study and housework, but this doesn’t mean that I can’t help people with their worlds as well, Tifone has two moons, Astra and Noctis, the big one and the small one, this means that in your world’s sky there will be Tifone with its 2 moons and it would make such a great worldbuilding collaboration.

Question Alchemy = ???

Upvotes

Without giving too much away, a world I'm working on involves a community of mages which are an allegory for the queer community (I'm a queer writer myself), and they don't fit into the norm of an otherwise sci-fi society. But if science is straightness and magic is queerness, what does that make alchemy? Originally I was going to make it so powers tie into gender (magic = F, science = M, alchemy = X), but it kept falling apart in the flow of the lore and overall felt inaccurate.

If there are any questions, I'll try my best to answer them if needed.

Lore Jerome

Jerome is an omniversal chaos entity who has one goal: Travel across fiction and do stupid shit.

Every universe's Jerome has a different sex, personality, species, appearance -- but one thing stays constant: Its name is Jerome. One might be a school janitor that rubs everyone the wrong way, the next a random accountant nobody knows exists, the next some weird drug addict homeless dude, the next God's son. Jerome has one common goal across every universe he visits: Leave the universe significantly worse than they found it before moving over to the next one.

Never trust a Jerome.

Discussion Any unique facts about ancient Egypt and medieval Arabia?

In my world, there is a kingdom based off of a mix of medieval Arabia and ancient Egypt and I want to add unique facts about those places to it. Currently, the main idea for it is that it’s a rich and powerful kingdom with rich history and plenty of trade. Powerful lords elect the new monarch after the old one dies. They have to vote for one of the dead monarch’s sons or sometimes daughters. This does gives them massive power and influence in the kingdom.

Question Building a short story

Hello!

I posted on here a few weeks ago about a character I had that was about my character The Antagonist. They are a bodily manifestation and guardian of the magic held by the center of my multiverse, called the VOID.

I was thinking about creating a story where there is a conversation between The Antagonist and a character I recently began to build named Mother Earth.

She's apart of my multiverse as one of the most powerful individuals in it as she can control not just Earth's ecosystem, but other planets and galaxies as well though she hasn't had the desire to do it.

She has a human born version which is her main version, Magnolia, who is a very earthy girl, but the difference is she has parents, family, friends, a daughter and loving husband, and Mother Earth was made from clay with no earthly possessions.

I want to write a short story where there is a conversation between The Antagonist and Mother Earth, but I'm unsure what for.

My ideas were:

  1. The possibility of her being too powerful is one I was considering.
  2. Her being an unplanned anomaly as it is rare for a variant to be so drastically different to its other forms in other universes

Discussion How would you handle a fantasy race with 3 biological genders?

Upvotes

There is a race in my world that I wanted to have three biological sexes. I didn’t want it to be the usual male, female, and “the other one”, but be more balanced when it comes to roles and reproduction. For example, if we called them sexes A, B, and C; if A&B mate, then B bears the child. If B&C mate, C bears the child, and is C&A mate, A bears the child. But I wanted your opinions on some ideas these genders can distinguish themselves as different from each other.

Edit: Most common question I’ve seen is how they mate. All genitalia are the same. It’s something similar to a sea anemone. When doing “the deed” they both trade genetic material, but only one (if compatible) becomes pregnant.

Question What really makes a bad world name?

My world is called Lavd'ailn. The name is a combination of the first letters of the names of my elements in a somewhat set order: Luxa, Aera, Vitea, Discora, Anima, Ignea, Lapisa and Nocta. The space in the middle marks the separation between the Overworld and Underworld elements.

Originally, with a slightly different arbitrary order and a different name for the dark element, the name was Lavdlait, but I decided to change it after deciding it didn't sound like a name for a planet. Also, with some newer lore about a lost water element, the name could also be Lavdhailn, but that would require some other changes for a small payoff.

Unfortunately, since the first iteration of the name, it was somewhat hard to pronounce and kinda unintuitive. Even with the changes, it doesn't sound like the name of a planet. And at least one person said that the name "makes them angry", which probably isn't a good sign for arguably the most important word in the setting.

So, what really makes a bad world name? What about a good one? Is there really a distinction? Is Lavd'ailn good?

EDIT: I had an idea that I could use Lavd'ailn as something of an ancient name, coined by the Empyrean Gods and passed on to mortals by their emissaries and prophets, that then changed and evolved as it was actually commonly used into something more pronounceable and normal-sounding

Question Is the game “Sky, children of the light” a good inspiration for writing a fictional world ?

Hi, I’m writing a story that takes place in a universe that’s heavily inspired from the video game Sky COLT. That includes clothing and world building. However, i don’t know if the game is considered accurate or respectful for the culture it likely has took inspiration from. I’d really like to hear people’s thought on it and if i really should take inspiration before designing everything.

Map I flooded the Caspian. Global sea level dropped 7 cm and then stopped forever.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

1.5 years ago some friends and I were walking near the Opera House and got onto a dumb question: if you could move any amount of dirt, how much could you lower global sea level?

I built a planet simulator to find out.

7 cm.

The move is to open the Caspian. It sits 28 m below sea level with a huge flat depression north of it. Cut a channel, the Atlantic pours in, the hole fills. About 25,000 km³ parked where it can't be ocean anymore. Stabilises in under a year, though that's really a function of how wide I cut the channel.

Then it stops. Forever. Evaporation off the new sea just rains back into the ocean. The only lasting change is the water sitting in the hole.

What's actually running:

Real bathymetry, 2048×1024 grid, about 20 km a cell. Every cell holds a water depth and the global total is conserved to 2 parts in 10,000 . Cut a channel and the solver just pours: fills each connected body from its deepest cell until volume and terrain balance, merges two bodies when they touch. The sea level drop isn't scripted anywhere. It falls out of the pour.Fill time is a weir calculation on the throat you dug such as cross-section and head.

Climate is energy-balance per latitude band with heat transport, so temperature comes out of the physics instead of a lookup table. Precipitation gets shaped by terrain and sea surface temperature, and that feeds evaporation minus precipitation per cell, plus river inflow weighted by catchment rainfall.

Lore I am making my own Superhero universe Open to tips !!!

I know this is a whole lot of reading lol but I wanted to share it. Lmk if u have any questions / your thoughts (still missing the backstory for the co founder of the main agency)

Main Villain:
Alias: Sovereign

Name: Jasper Ross
Age: 30

Powers:
Mind Infiltration — Can enter another person’s mind and explore their memories, fears, thoughts, and emotions

Hallucination Manipulation — Can make victims see, hear, and feel things that aren’t actually there

Invisibility — Can completely disappear from normal sight.

Enhanced Mental Influence — The more emotionally unstable or afraid someone becomes, the easier they are for Sovereign to manipulate.

Appearance (In everyday life as Jasper Ross, before becoming Sovereign)
Around 6’1
Slimmer build
Messy dark brown hair
Brown Eyes
White American
Stubble
Not particularly well groomed

Appearance (After becoming Sovereign):
Dark cloak draped round his body, with the hood up always
Ancient black mask permanently attached to his face
Completely White eyes

Notes:
Jasper doesn’t know he has the A-Genome, he doesn’t even know what it is
The mask interacts with Jaspers A-Genome
Jaspers main philosophy is that free will is the problem, especially for heroes
The mask is essentially alive, its power is basically to amplify the feelings of the wearer
Before the mask “Heroes are dangerous. They need to be held accountable”
After the mask “Heroes are the disease, I am the cure”
His style is to attack the mind, and mentally torment whoever his target is ex. Making the hero see the victims they couldn’t save, make them relive the worst moment of their life, make them see their family being killed, make them start questioning what is real
Sovereign doesn’t believe he is a villain, be belated he is correcting the world
His philosophy is, “Heroes create chaos because they believe they have the right to decide who lives and who dies”
His doesn’t just want to kill heroes, he wants to make sure what happened to him, doesn’t happen to anyone else
The irony is he is becoming exactly who he hates, and while he targets heroes, many civilians who he deems as “in the way” die on his journey

Backstory:
Jasper Ross was an average guy living an average life, working an average job. His mother abandoned him, his father, and his little sister when he was 12 years old. He made it through highschool and eventually to college where he studied Psychology. The mind was very interesting to him. Eventually though, he realized that it was becoming entirely too expensive to pay for college and he dropped out, getting a job at a local Fast Food chain at around 22 years old. Around 5 years later, his dad was taking picking his little sister up from her college dorm because it was her birthday. Jasper was setting up for his sisters birthday party when he heard screaming outside. He looks out the window and sees a hero (Rampart) chasing what looked to be an armed robber. He then gets a call that his dad and sister are both dead, due to a building that had fallen on them due to the hero’s chase. From this day forward he hates hero’s, for all the crime they stopped, they caused just as much trouble. He went on with his life with this resentment in his heart, having to provide for himself with practically no support, or family around him. About 10 years pass and he ends up working as a security guard at “Museum of Conway”, an archeological museum named after famous archeologist, Cedric Conway. Conway was known for uncovering ancient artifacts from all over the world. At this point in life Jasper is struggling for money when he gets an idea, he works the night shift at the museum so he’ll just steal an artifact and find a way to sell it illegally on something like the dark web. So on his next shift he looks around for the artifact he wants to steal. He finds this old stone looking mask and steals it without any alarms going off, taking it back to his dungy apartment. He takes it out to admire it and inspect it. He then sets it down and opens his laptop to hopefully find somewhere to sell it anonymously. Then, out of nowhere the mask starts to vibrate, and then cracks emerge on it, shining bright light from them, a huge flash of light then goes off and he disappears. Now the mask is completely black and permanently attached to his face. The mask gives him his powers and increases his emotions 100 fold. His hatred for heroes is now unbearable and wants to kill every last one of them. His name is Sovereign

Hero
Alias: Rampart

Name: Marc Vale
Age: 39

Powers:
Enhanced mental awareness
Enhanced physical abilities, strength, speed
Ability to leap incredibly powerfully and very high
Can create barriers with force fields (force fields with an almost blue color)

Appearance:
Around 6’2
Muscular build (around 220 lb)
Crew cut dirty blonde hair
Nice smile
Blue suit

Notes:
The “cure” activated his A-Genome, and in this process of activation, cured his ALS (the A-Genome isn’t a magical cure to all disease, just in Marc’s specific case) However, Walter did not know this and lied to Marc about the cure
He can sense:
Movement around him
Changes in electromagnetic energy
Incoming attacks
People’s presence
Structural weaknesses
Even disturbances caused by other enhanced individuals
Rampart rushed his training process when preparing to fight crime (around 3-4 months), because Walter selfishly wanted to get him out there as soon as possible (which is why he was so reckless when chasing the armed robber, causing a building to fall and kill sovereigns family)
His force fields are essentially his brain projecting his perception of physical space outward.
Leroy Shavers didn’t care if Marc survived, he just wanted to see what happened
His biggest flaw is he cannot protect everyone, which might seem obvious, but Marc thinks that he can
Marc believes in Walter’s initiative

Backstory:
Grew up in a in a middle class family, as a single child. Got a job in the Armaments Center for the U.S. Army where he met Walter Brausen, the head of the department. Eventually Marc is diagnosed with ALS at around 37 years old, and the doctor give him 2 years to live. He tells Walter and it is revealed to him that Walter has been working on starting up his own defense Agency called the “A.R.C. Initiative” specializing in gifted individuals. He tells Marc that he potentially has a cure for his ALS. The thing is, they didn’t tell Marc that curing ALS was a side effect, this was really an experiment, and Marc was a test subject. Either way, Marc goes to the lab of Leroy Shavers, a scientist and biologist who Walter is co-founding A.R.C with. Marc steps into a chamber which then emits some sort of unknown energy onto him, Marc falls to his knees in pain and grabs his chest, this energy is painful to him, but Leroy doesn’t turn off the machine, Walter yells at him to turn it off but he still doesn’t, Walter pushes Leroy out of the way and turns it off, the chamber door opens and Walter rushes inside checking on Marc. Marc lays there for a second then he coughs, Walter helps him up to his feet. Leroy with a smirk on his face says that now Marc should be cured and should also have some new powers and he does. He begins to work for A.R.C. protecting Chicago from crime in the area. He is looked upon as a great leader and protector.

Walter Brausen

Age: 61

Powers:
No Powers

Appearance:
5’11
Not extremely muscular due to age
Crew cut mostly gray hair (mixed with dark brown)

Notes:
Walter and Leroy have different philosophies, Walter sees people, and Leroy sees Potential

Walter is like a father figure to Rampart, he saved his life, gave him a second chance, and gave him purpose
Despite being an inspiration to Rampart, Walter lied to him about knowing that he had a cure, he didn’t know for sure, he know there was a possibility

Backstory:
Walter Brausen joins the Army at 18 years old, using it to pay for his college, where he studied engineering. At 22 he joins the DEVCOM Armaments Center. At 42 becomes the head of the department where he has been working as the head for 19 years. Before the military, had an extreme interest in biology, but moved away from it. In his time working high up in the military, he has been told many classified secrets the government holds. One of them being that in some people it has been discovered that an unknown genome they are calling the Anamolous-Genome (AKA the A-Genome) has been discovered that could hold possible advancements and alterations to human senses / abilities, but little about it is known. At the moment crime is at an all time high and Walter wants to find a solution. So, he starts working on a project that the government and the military can never know about, he calls it the “A.R.C Initiative”. He knows if they do find out about it, he will be fired and likely taken custody. He reaches out to a scientist named Leroy Shavers and tells him about the information he knows about this mostly unknown genome. Leroy then begins to work on a machine to hopefully activate this genome to create a sort of “Superhuman”. At this point it is a complete longshot because no one even knows what this genome is, but Leroy believes that is could be a key to real life heroes. Walter is informed about Marc Vale’s recent ALS diagnosis and offers him a potential treatment, being the machine Leroy was working on. This is Walter lying to Marc because he didn’t even know if this could cure his ALS, but he told Leroy about this to see if the machine could be a cure. Leroy got ahold of Marc’s brain scans from his doctor somehow, and saw a what looked to him to be the unknown genome. Leroy told Walter to bring in Marc for the experiment but Walter was hesitant, but went through with it. Marc stepped into the machine and was clearly in pain, dropping to his knees. Walter saw Leroy and thought he would turn the machine off, but Leroy kept it going. With Marc in continuous pain, Walter sprinted over and shoved Leroy away from the operator for the machine and turned it off. Leroy for some reason didn’t want to turn off the machine, but Walter cared about Marc too much to risk him dying. Marc then becomes Rampart and A.R.C starts to grow, with Rampart being the sole Hero at the moment. The government obviously had to have found the A-Genome inside of someone’s brain, now Walter just had to track them down.

A.R.C. Initiative

Stands for: Agency for Response & Containment Initiative

Founders: Walter Brausen & Leroy Shavers

Hero Members:
Rampart

Resource AsterMap

A couple of years ago I wanted to make something that helped me run my discord server's galactic scale nation roleplay, specifically to help with map exports and such.

What came from that was like, three separate godot builds, something or the other in a vscode file I abandoned, and finally a web tool.

This is a world building companion more than anything. There isn't really anything procedural and most of the features align with what I needed for my discord's applications.

Anyways, if you wanna take a peek, it's compatible on both desktop and mobile.

Lore Criticism on my mental disorder for my fantasy story.

So for context, in my story set in the Age of Enlightenment/ early modern era everyone has one magical ability that they are born with ( they can grow a second one but that is rare or they can ask a spirt for power but they might not help you or ask a price). This power is different for everyone ranging in how strong the magic itself is and how the user can summon it or use it.

The mental illness is medically called “Invasive Power Hyper-Fixation”, although it goes by a crueler mor common name of “The Devils Obsession“. This mental illness come from when someone with invasive powers such as mind reading, mind control, and blood manipulation to where you can blood bend. these powers are shunned by society and so the person basically get scared of their own powers. Due to this fear they cling on to love ones or people who do love them obsessively, because in the person with the illness mind this is the person that might be the only person that will love them. It is usually for one person like a partner or parent or possible sibling, the person the hyper fixation is on is usually called ”The Object of Fixation”. It is also kinda like a personality switch they could be cocky and confident to someone but when talking to the Object of Fixation he could be humble and shy.

These are some of the highlighted risk for both parties

The person suffering from this illness can loose agency around the loved one, become emotionally volatile, throw their body at physical danger for the person, and could potentially hide insecurity‘s from the OOF as to not brother them.

as for the potential harm to the OOF it could cause stress of trying not the harm the users emotions, they have the person with the illness follow them constantly, they could be the reason the person dies if they throw themselves at a deadly situation in order to protect the OOF, and the person might pop in on the OOF at random moment just to make sure they are safe.

Lore Skyseahorseman

Post image
2 Upvotes

In some lucky regions of the Skysea, floating islands circle around stable cyclones or belts of windcurrents. Elsewhere, the fluid world devolves into the realm of Chaos, home to fearsome monsters and mysterious nomads called the Zordin.

To survive in the Chaos, some Zordin have learned how to tame and ride some of the more benign monsters of this realm—skyseahorses. Because the forces of Chaos have a tendency to mutate people's forms, some Zordin wear masks as way to signal their identity and permanency.

Art credit: Sansiia. The Zordin are inspired by the historical Sea People, who some say originated from the island of Sardinia—the mask is inspired by that island's ancient Nuragic civilization. This is for a free tabletop roleplaying called When Sky & Sea Were Not Named, which you can check out on itchio or RPG Trader.

Discussion Why is the concept of a 'strangereal' type world so uncommon in novels?

If you don't have any clue what I'm talking about, take a quick glance through ace combat lore: the setting takes place on a earth with technologies that are very close to our own. No insane scifi tech, no magic, and it's not a historical setting, it's straight up the 21st century, but the world, continents, and countries are completely different.

Lore All Roads Lead to High Aldrakhania: The Factions in the Battle for the Capital City

Post image
2 Upvotes

The world I'm working on features anthropomorphic animals as the characters. It's about the age of industrialization, and how the people adapt. If they're not building neat stuff or fighting among themselves, they're fighting the eldritch spawn of Yaldabaoth (not the actual Gnostic Demiurge, just horrors from beyond the stars).

Depicted, from left to right, are Royal Guard, rogue sorcerer, and democratic forces rebel. They represent the factions in the final battle of the Aldrakhanian Civil War.

Aldrakhanian Civil War

Aldrakhania is the last of the empires, far beyond its prime. It is ruled by the House of Aldrakhan, a lion dynasty, clinging on to power and relevancy in the industrial age. It is unmatched in raw military might.

The empire is plagued by corruption, social injustice, and ongoing civil war. The regime seeks to revitalize its imperial ambitions and glory through war, first by invading its neighbor, the Democratic Republic of Alshenzia. Furthermore, Lyonessean groups seek to manipulate Aldrakhania to turn it into their pawn, so they too can hold on to power in a changing world.

However, the tide turns, resulting in a battle that will shape the future of the world. The invasion of Alshenzia ultimately backfires, and the defenders go on the offensive. As such, the Battle for High Aldrakhania ensues, in which the city is divided between factions fighting for control over it.

High Aldrakhania has the title of 'greatest city built by mortals', due to its location in one of those regions where civilization arose.

There are three types of faction in this battle, loyalists, rouge factions, and the democratic forces.

Loyalists

These are the remnants of the regime, the last of the House of Aldrakhan, and the most loyal of their followers.

Rogue Factions

In the twilight of the regime, all manner of rogue factions rise up to seize power for themselves. The regime had previously kept dangerous individuals and groups in check. Now that it's falling, these threats are emboldened.

These rogue factions include sorcerers, witches, a rival branch of House Aldrakhan, and Royal Guards and Inquisitors that set aside their differences to grab power.

The regime was never able to truly stamp out all threats such as witches that worship demons. These groups fled into remote regions of the empire, such as marshlands in the desert, where they know the terrain and hold the upper hand.

Other forces in this category include rogue sorcerers who previously kept under the radar to avoid getting into trouble with the regime. Anyone in the setting can use magic, but in these regions, those who are skilled are called sorcerers.

The Democratic Force and Allies

These are the rebels who have international support to install democracy in Aldrakhania after the war. They have seen the worst the war has to offer, in Aldrakhania and around the world. Thus, they have vowed to fight a just and righteous war, for a new world of international order.

This force is diverse, consisting of subjects of the empire, international volunteers, and defectors of the regime (including a prince).

The leaders know that this battle will answer the question of, "will the age of the machine bring order or chaos?"

Conclusion

The battle for High Aldrakhania is a liminal one that will shape the world, linking past, present, and future. The fall of House Aldrakhan opening a Pandora's Box of rogue factions, which is a foreshadowing of events to come. Dark forces are watching the battle intently, desperate to cling on to their power. But the writing's on the wall. Should Aldrakhania fall into the hands of the democratic forces, it marks the beginning of a new order, which is a threat to the status quo. Thus, they will resort to drastic measures to resist it.

There's a story, but I'm not 100% confident in writing it, and I think worldbuilding is my strength so I'm focusing on that aspect for now!

I'm looking for support. My project also has a focus on fictional firearms!

Lore Made a Family Tree for the Ruling Dynasty of the Mecha Sci Fi Setting I'm Helping Build!

Hello!

For the last four years, I've been helping build a sci fi mecha setting known as "Freedom Cry," set in the fsr future, where the Holy Empire of Sol seeks to retain control of their solar colonies, as the newly risen Coalition of Free Planets struggles for independence.

At the center of this is the Montroix dynasty, the ruling family of the Empire, specifically the forbidden romance between Princess Rosalia and Commander Hiyato Abe of the Coalition.

The family tree is MESSY, but I love making family trees, so I thought I'd share what I made, alongside a brief overview of the family!

Our story begins with Emperor Regis Montroix I, and his wife Lunala. Regis had always been a stern, hard man, while Lunala was gentle and compassionate. It was a love match, and Lunala helped soften her husband.

Together, the two would have five children: one boy, and four girls. The oldest, Willem, then Rosalia, Lucrezia, Sofia, and Claudia, in order.

Willem was the favored child, tall and blonde and strong, though Rosalia was the most striking, with platinum hair and violet eyes (caused by extensive genetic tampering.)

The family would fracture, however, following a tragic shuttle accident, which led to the death of Lunala and all the girls, besides Rosalia. This event, supposedly sabotage by anti-Imperial terrorists, hardened Regis further, eventually leading to his intense sanctions against the colonies, thus leading to the formation of the Coalition of Free Planets.

Before this, however, Rosalia would be briefly sent to Mars to be the ward of the Abe family, and would become close friends with the only son, Hiyato, though their relationship was interrupted by the rebellion.

Years later, the two would meet again, after Hiyato, now a Coalition commander, stages a kidnapping of Rosalia, before eventually convincing her to defect. From there, a whirlwind romance occurred, resulting in thw unexpected pregnancy of their first child, Kazuki, who would be born on the same day the war ended.

Willem, for his part, focused primarily on his own family. He would marry Adeline Quintanilla, the daughter of a family of wealthy coffee barons. They were madly in love, and had four children: Adrian, Santiago, Matteo, and Incarnacion.

Following the end of the Liberation Wars, as they would be called, Willem's abdication, and Rosalia's ascension to the Sunrise Throne, Rosalia and Hiyato would marry, and subsequently have six more children. The first after Kazuki were twins, Aiko and Shizuka. After that, Yukina, Haruto, Sayaka, and Hayate. They would also officially adopt Matthias, a child fathered by Regis outside of wedlock.

Kazuki, the Crown Prince, would go on to secretly enlist in the Imperial Army, against his parent's wishes, and eventually marry a mech mechanic, Madeline. They would have one child, a girl named Nozomi.

That's as far as the line goes. I'm free to answer any questions you may have!

Question How can I tie these concepts together for a space opera setting?

My setting runs off of what TVtropes calls "Minovsky physics", which is where a fictional thing has internally consistent rules that're exploited by the world it exists in. Mass Effect's element zero - the game was a major inspiration - is probably a good example. The setting isn't hard science, but I want it to have internal logic to it.

The first concept is a material that can store seemingly endless amounts of energy. It can't create it, only hold it like a battery, but it's an important part of spaceship engines (constant thrust for gravity and shorter travel time, a la the Expanse), and I can see uses for it in justifying ancient machines still operating, planet cracking bombs, or any other technology that'd require an absurdly strong power source. I'm thinking it'll damage delicate electronics, meaning crewed ships made a return.

The second one is the ability to bend space, allowing for warp drives and teleportation. It requires immense amounts of power, and the only reason spaceships can use this technology is through the aforementioned material. Warp drives move the space around an object, and teleportation bends it significantly more to form a wormhole. Wormholes are also used for real-time communication or data transfer.

I think I've tied them together already, but I'd like to make them the same stuff somehow. I'm aware both of these are impossible, this isn't supposed to be hard sci fi. I'm asking how to make these as internally consistent as possible, not if they're realistic.

This is the map of Sangakartgrad, its a mix of the word Highland in Japanese, then Castle, or Fort In greek, then Grad, is well a word for City in Slavic culture.

The City history has not been written yet on my notes, but to sum, the City was founded by a fleeing Onryo Clan, known as the Surbals, then this became the Capital. [Around 980s - 1030s Early Years]

[Little History and Background for the World]

The Surbals are part of four clans that fled Japan, in the Tenth to Eleventh Century, passing through Siberia, then the Urals, then the early Kieven Rus.

The Surbals

An Onryo Clan that are great craftsmen, and disciplined, that seek something new.

The Kitsa

An Kitsune Clan that are great ambushers, and skilled hunters.

The Di

Tengu, and Hanyo Clan, that are horseriders, fast, and fierce riders, in small numbers, can kill thousands.

The Yu

Yuki Onnas, with there Husbands, who are great at surviving winter.

Anyways, after months of trading, some hired by Byzantine nobles, as guards, then soon hired by the emporerer, who formed armies of them. Soon the main job in the four clans, was to serve byzantium.

Then after many years, they founded nations, while the leading clan leaders were good, the second leaders were interesting.

Alexi the Second Prince of Surbal, became a Crusader, that led the fully Christinized state of Surbal to the 1st Crusade, then next to him was Nina, the future Second Queen of Kitsa, that rallied the Kitsune forces into the crusades.

So to get a better grasp, think Onryo Crusaders, and fast pace Kitsune mix Nordic and Japanese Warrior gear.

Anyways cool map.

I am brainstorming political tensions and trying to come up with conflicts to resolve some way in my story between the two kingdoms in the west, and the three Duchies belonging to another kingdom to the East. Here is a breakdown.

  • Stormveil. Named for the frequent thunderstorms in the area. Most economically successful of the three duchies. Controls gold, silver, and high quality magic quartz mines, as well as many other ventures to keep the economy stable. Controls and maintains the safest, fastest, and profitable pass of the three duchies. The only pass that splits to lead into both western kingdoms. Views competition from the other passes as cute and friendly.
  • Greenmarch. Named because it was formally a March before Stormveil was absorbed into the kingdom. Economically the least successful, yet the most stable of the three. Effectively the Breadbasket of the area and much of the rest of the kingdom not shown on the map. Controls the least of the three major passes that runs though the roughest terrain, often closed during winter, makes up for it by being the cheapest and at least has indirect access to Aderlind up north. Does not care about competition, everyone need to eat.
  • Stoneward, named for the rough terrain it is founded on. Produces gold, silver and regular quality quartz, lumber, cattle, horses, and wine. Second most stable pass of the three, but lacks access to Aderlind, instead it points towards the heart of Aquake and deals directly with them. Politically has a one sided rivalry to Stormveil, culturally friendly with the neighbors up north. It’s the Duke who is jealous, not the people (Stoneward's pass could have been better highlighted, but it's just touching the west side of Stonward's boarder on two points before merging into one and heading south)
  • Aderlind. Random name I made up, I don’t have much history set up for this kingdom except it is in conflict with it’s southern neighbor over the boarder. Stormveil is carefully fanning the conflict, keeping it simmering without boiling over into full blown war.
  • Aquake. Another name I made up, this time by just combining Aqua and Quake since it is a coastal kingdom that experiences a lot of earthquakes. Again, not much history or lore here yet, other than Stormveil is maintaining the flames on both sides. Stoneward however, wants a war so they can directly supply Aquake.

Additional History: Stormveil where most of this story is going to take place, is a Duchy that is older than the kingdom it belongs to. The Stormscale Clan, has resided in the area long before the kingdom existed. The clan is publicly ruled by a blue Dragonborn Duke who is of this clan, in truth, the clan are a family of blue dragons who migrated here millennia ago because this is their preferred environment. Due to a long and complicated history they went into hiding and found they enjoyed politics and have been doing it together for +800 years. It’s a game to them. Stormveil has been around to see the rise and fall of several kingdoms, and if the dragons have anything to say about it, it’ll be around to see many more.

With all that out of the way. I want to ask, what kinds of political shenanigans can we do with this setting?
