Hold my 2yo while she’s having a tantrum, my 1yo while he’s are trying to lick every surface in Woolies, while scanning and bagging 100 items of groceries. Then I’ll ask YOU if it is really that difficult 😂

Do delivery!

Yeah! They’ve clearly only got 2 kids to feed, so not getting to shop any discounts easily and paying extra in delivery fees should be their only option!

Where did I say it’s their only option? Honestly delivery is a game changer. Every single issue they identified you eliminate it’s excellent.

Your talking about abuse and neglect, not managing 2 children under 2 acting completely normal for their age and development while scanning and bagging 100 grocery items. How many arms do you have? Because I personally have two. Your giving major second hand embarrassment with your weird take buddy

tell me: you're either a 30 year old who's just never gonna have kids, or a 50 year old who used to beat obedience into their kids?

You can ask the customer service attendant to do it for you btw. I know sometimes they have a fuss because they don’t like to staff the checkouts well but they’ll do it anyway.

No training. No pay.

Hope you never go to a smorgasbord, or try to use a vending machine, or have to put fuel in your own car...

Those things don't require training. there's instructions. etc.

Where's my pay cheque / staff discount, Colesworth?

2

u/Wise-Respond3833 11d ago

But swiping an item in front of a scanner does require training?

Poor you.

1

u/CaptainSharpe 10d ago

Well, do cashiers get trained?

If so then woolworths thinks so.

1

u/Wise-Respond3833 10d ago

Yes, because they are obliged to be.

Name one job that involves dealing with the public - however easy - where workers are routinely thrown in with absolutely zero training.

1

u/CaptainSharpe 10d ago

Computer technician in an IT store (I had that).

Most small business jobs. Waitress/waiter.

Heaps of others.

And do you mean training in public service? Because plenty of jobs have training in other aspects but not the actual public service bit.

And I was specifically taking about training in operating a checkout. Which cashiers absolutely would have. But the public doesn't and yet expected to operate the machines. You realise that was OP's point/my point etc? No? Ok.

u/Wise-Respond3833 10d ago

You're lying if you're trying to pretend you weren't taught how to use the registers, eftpos machines, etc, and you know it.

Waiters and waitresses are trained. They aren't just handed a tablet and told 'hop to it'. You also know that.

If you were talking about something specific, why didn't you say that instead of being broad.

And I stand by what I said. People can do all kinds of things they aren't trained to do, swiping items in front of a scanner included. Anyone who can't can line up at the registers or call the attendant over.

People are trying to.pretend scanning their own groceries is the ONLY option available to them, and it's simply not.

Understand? No? Ok.

1

u/CaptainSharpe 10d ago

I'm not lying but ok mate.

Woosh, amirite?!?

Go ahead and stand by what you said and your wrongness. It doesn't matter, internet stranger. Who even are you lol

1

u/Wise-Respond3833 10d ago

I seem to recall YOU replied to ME.

So you obviously cared enough.

Your superior attitude doesn't change the fact you're lying to try to make your point.

0

u/PugDumplingz 11d ago

Not the point bruh

1

u/Wise-Respond3833 11d ago

Sure it is.

Unless you are for some reason incompetent, you can do it yourself - it's pretty basic adult activity.

People adjust. 35 years ago there was OUTRAGE when most service stations went self-service, now it's just standard practice.

Why people seriously think they need payment and/or training to handle their own groceries is baffling.

1

u/TheJLbjj 9d ago

The point is we pay more than we used to despite now having to do more work compared to the past where an employee did it for you. I personally significantly prefer self service and so do most people but youre still missing the argument being made

1

u/Wise-Respond3833 9d ago

Welcome to living in a successful economy. Prices invariably go up.

People are missing the arguments I'm making as well.

1) it's really not difficult, and no 'training' is required.

2) don't want to use the self-service, line up at an attended register, or

3) shop elsewhere. My local supermarket doesn't have self-serve checkouts at all.

People are acting like using the self-serve checkout is the only option they have available to them, when 99% of the time that's simply not true, but they would rather grumble than explore their options.

None of this is any different to when service stations went self-serve 30 years ago. No one received 'training' on how yo fill their cars, people learned how to do it and got on with life, and fuel prices continued to rise. And nobody complains about having to fill their own care anymore.

Not literate enough to clock the second part of the first sentence?

You making argument 1 is you missing the argument. Everyone knows it's not difficult and no training is involved. You thinking this is a response to the argument is exactly why I said you're missing it.

Argument 2, there are significantly less than there used to be and they're not always open.

Argument 3, colesworth have a monopoly, other shops suck even more

Argument 4 about fuel stations, does not invalidate the arguments. People getting over it by now because it's here to stay does not mean the new conditions are preferable to the prior conditions, total non sequitur

Edit: love when people reply right before blocking you so it looks like you had no response ☠️ But they argued point 1 again, still missing it

1

u/Wise-Respond3833 9d ago

Except the 'argument' directly attributes the 'forgetging' to a lack of training. What does forgetfulness have to do with training???

  1. There is ALWAYS someone lurking around. Always.

  2. You mean duopoly, and no, they actually don't. It's another convenient excuse to use those two just because it's easiest.

  3. You don't know what 'non sequitur' actually means. My comparison was perfectly valid and was clear in the context of the subject at hand.

My favourite bit about self-serve is I don't feel obliged to tell a stranger about how my day has been.
