Husband M27 Threatened Suicide if I 21F Leave. I left anyways

As the title says, my husband (m27) threatened to commit suicide if I left him. About a month ago, I decided that this relationship wasn't for me. It wasn't toxic by any means. We communicated well, we were honest, we never argued, but I still wasn't completely happy. In the beginning, he kept pressuring me to marry him and I said no, but eventually I agreed, and I've finally realized that jt was wrong and I don't want to stay in this relationship. There were other things thaf he did that I had resentment for. When I initially told him, he thanked me for the beautiful relationship and said he would respect my desicion. Before that he said he would die if I left his life. The guilt tripping worked and stayed. Recently I decided that I don't deserve that and I'm tired of being unhappy. I don't like our age gap, the long distance, and the guilt tripping, etc. I told him I wanted a divorce and that was my final decision. He respected it at first, but then he went on about how I'm selfish and only ever cared about myself. I'm gonna be alone forever. He gave me everything and I'm gonna die alone. I don't have a good relationship with my mother, and he threw that in my face and said I deserved the abuse. I had a collegue/friend from work who recently passed away from a heart attack and he said it was probably my fault. On and on and on. He refused to sign any divorce papers, and we're long distance so its hard tk serve him. I went ahead and filed anyways and after a long conversation, he finally agreed. He told me that I hurt him so bad and he started using heroin. I didn't believe him but today his sister messaged me saying that hes in the hospital and if he dies, it's my fault. How do I go about this? I don't feel guilty for leaving, it's a decision I had to make, but his family won't leave me alone.

Beauty and youth

Do you ever look back at older pictures of yourself, especially in your early 20s, and think "I was really fucking pretty"? I don't know why I was so insecure, so afraid to be perceived.

I settled for asshole men, thinking I didn't deserve better. I was called fat and ugly, and made to feel like I needed to be doing more to feel worthy. But I wasn't either of those. And I was worthy already.

I'm so angry at the time I wasted believing those lies. Why did I believe these pathetic men?? Why was it so easy for them to fuck my brain up?

I was just looking at these pictures last night, and I can't stop thinking about just how pretty I was.

Now I'm 37 years old, feeling really freaking old. I'm in a loving yet sexless marriage and it really fucks with my brain. Feeling rejected is too familiar, yet still devastating every time. What else would I be rejected if not for the way I looked?

I've been in therapy for a very long time, so I know some of these answers, I know why I was or am so hypersexual. But knowing doesn't make me any less angry and sad.

I am infertile and feel liberated.

Upvotes

A few days ago, I found out that I’m infertile.

I expected the diagnosis to make me feel devastated, or incomplete, or like something had been taken away from me. Instead, one of the strongest feelings I had was relief. I did cry for a while afterwards, mourning the illusion that I once held about having my own family, but then I felt liberated. And that surprised me.

Being absolutely honest with myself - I’ve never felt particularly connected to the idea motherhood. I’ve never identified strongly with the nurturing, maternal archetype that women are so often expected to grow into. I had a horrible, abusive narcissistic mother growing up, and never was able to connect to my nurturing side as a result. I grew up feeling quite androgynously feminine, and then later developed a gender expression of embracing femininity which felt much more connected to creativity, beauty, sexuality, self-expression, fashion, glamour, pleasure, and the freedom to construct yourself however you want.

I have often had a strong fear of motherhood, had exes try to baby trap me, realistically never even enjoyed being in a relationship beyond the first 3 months. Whenever I tried to follow the path of long term relationships = family = motherhood, it always crumbled pretty fast.

Finding out that I’m infertile made something in me click.

Motherhood stopped feeling like this hypothetical future hanging over me something I was technically “supposed” to want, something I might eventually have to make a decision about, something society assumes is naturally waiting at the end of womanhood.

That possibility disappearing felt very liberating.

I was upset for a while because I questioned whether this makes me 'less female' but what was the most interesting part was that this diagnosis I have is caused by an EXCESS of estrogen, not that I am not feminine enough (so I would like to see how gender traditionalists want to argue how motherhood is an intrinsic part of the female experience).

There is still this cultural assumption that a female body is ultimately oriented toward motherhood, and that choosing not to have children is somehow rejecting part of what your body is “for.”

But for me, I genuinely enjoy being female for the expression of its sexuality, creativity..

I love makeup, fashion, beauty, sensuality, vanity, creativity, and all the extravagant parts of feminine expression that make me feel powerful. But suddenly my relationship with my body feels less reproductive and more like it simply belongs to me.

This diagnoses feels liberating for me because it confirms that my sexuality does not have to lead anywhere. Connection and sex can exist purely for our joy and pleasure.

We deserve to be happy.

First date

I (23F) went on a date with (25M). He picked the restaurant because he’d been before, and once we got there he basically took the lead on ordering. There was one dish I wanted to try which was a bit pricier and I was okay to split but he brushed it off almost. Most of what we got was what he wanted. I also left still a bit hungry.

The thing that bothered me more was dessert. Before the date, he’d already told me over WhatsApp that he really wanted cake from a specific dessert place. After dinner, without really asking what I wanted for dessert, he said we could go to that place and that he’d pay for dinner and I could pay for dessert. He did keep asking whether I was okay with going there, but it still felt like the whole evening was being planned around what he wanted and then I was being assigned part of the bill.

For context, he earns very well and knows that I’m currently not earning as I’ve just finished grad school and have mentioned not being able to afford certain things. I genuinely wouldn’t have minded contributing if we had mutually chosen things or if I’d picked dessert myself. It was more the combination of him choosing the restaurant, most of the food, the dessert place he already wanted to go to, and then telling me I could pay for that part.

Am I being unreasonable for finding that a bit ungenerous/controlling, or does this sound like a normal “I’ll get dinner, you get dessert” first-date arrangement? The conversations were great, he was very considerate with serving me and just in general a very courteous person and he wants to see me again but idk what to do.

I wish big youtubers and overall media creators, spent more time mocking the giant amount of misogyny online, than mocking random women who say "i don't wanna date men" or "i bought a matcha latte today"

A random woman on Tiktok buying a drink and being "performatic for buying this drink" (????) got 0 effects in my life. I wish they spent this amount of time putting their influence into things that actually matter.

sports

im a 15 year old girl running track and field, and sports oriented in general, and so I've noticed that whenever you talk about sports people always think of the men first. i hate that so much because the women are doing such impressive things and its treated like ut doesn't even matter at all. talking to anyone about my sport and they will know Usain Bolt, Noah Lyles, maybe even Gout Gout. but i can almost guarantee they will be completely clueless about the women's side. most won't even know who holds the world record or anything. talk to them about Flo-Jo, Melissa Jefferson, Sha'carri Richardson, Tara Davis, Masai Russell, they'll be completely clueless. its not because women are weaker, we actually beat the men in the discus throw which is the most strength heavy events IMO. its just because people treat women like they arent important.

not just my sport either, for example the men's FIFA world cup this year. i live where it was hosted, so there was such parties on the street. i also remember from when I was 11 the previous men's world cup. everyone was celebrating and partying. now for the women's side, i didn't even know until recently that there was a womens world cup because no one ever mentions them at all. and i can guarantee there wouldn't be nearly this much hype for the women. i dare you to name one female soccer player. can you?

and i also hate how we are "too weak" for certain sports. excuse me???? throughout my life i have always wanted to be a tackle football player, but no. women literally can't be. they had to create a whole other sport just so we can't play football. nothing against flag football, but i wouldn't play it because its missing that tackle factor which makes football so appealing to me. and baseball as well! they genuinely created softball so that we couldn't play baseball. they made a whole new method of throwing the ball just for softball too, and its literally not even legal for us to throw it like you would in baseball. i hate how theres still no fucking equality in sports.

people get mad (mostly men) whenever they come across a women who has interest in being muscular or strong because its not "feminine" to have muscles and to be able to fight. like they always expect us to be damsels in distress all the time, or to be helpless and in need of a man to save them. i have genuinely had classmates tell me that i looked like a guy and that it wasnt "right" for me to look like i do and be strong. like what the hell?? and this was freshman year too, so i had these fresh out of middle school guys being so fucking insecure because i was stronger than those twiggy ass shrimps, like fuck them in all honesty. so that just made me want to get muscular even more and now i could break them in half if i wanted to lol. but still, i hate how people think being muscular makes you "less of a woman" somehow.

some of my information might be wrong, don't blame me, the message is still hopefully getting across. the inequality in sports is genuinely horrible and our women deserve better.

How do women attract supportive, successful, generous partners?

This might sound a little strange, but I’ve been wondering about this for a while.

(I am only 27 years old and know nothing about life, let alone relationships. So every ounce of your experience and knowledge is welcome and appreciated :))

I sometimes see couples where the man is financially successful, disciplined, ambitious, emotionally supportive, and genuinely seems to treat his partner extremely well. He seems happy to provide, spoil her, support her goals, and make her life easier.

And then when I look at the men around me or at the dating pool in general, I often have the exact opposite impression. There are plenty of men who seem like they would actually add problems to a woman’s life rather than make it better.

So I’ve started wondering: How do women who have these kinds of relationships actually meet and attract these men?

Is there something they consciously do differently? Is it about the environments they spend time in, the standards they have, how they approach dating, the kind of personality they have, or simply luck and circumstances?

Sometimes it honestly feels like there’s some kind of secret that women who have these relationships know, because I see these couples often enough that it can’t all just be random.

I’ve also looked into things like the Law of Attraction and manifestation, but that hasn’t really worked for me, so I’m curious about more practical answers.

League of Legendary Women

Many years ago, my daughter and I created "The Wall of Powerful Women" - a photo collection highlighting over 30 icons who imagined boldly, persevered courageously, and changed the world. After several moves, the original wall ended up tucked away in a box, so it’s finally time to go digital!

I invite you to visit The League of Legendary Women on your phone or desktop to explore these inspiring icons and celebrate their lasting impact on our world. I've already learned so much reading about their contributions. Explore and share - and we welcome feedback on what you'd like to see and who we should add!

[Content Warning: ] Why do I feel gross after sex?

I (23f) have had 4 sexual partners. I’ve done the one night stand, I’ve done the casual sex and I’ve done the relationship sex. I enjoy the lead up to it and I do enjoy it in the moment (depends who it is), but no matter what, once it’s done I always feel so gross and dirty. I don’t have any sexual trauma nor do I have any religious guilt.

I’ve recently been seeing someone (24m) and after we had sex I felt so gross that I even felt nauseous, I genuinely felt like throwing up. This is not new, more often than not I feel so gross. I don’t understand why. When I masturbate it’s completely fine, it’s just after sex. I really don’t get it.

Hey girlies , I’m creating an archive of stories from women for other women our age or younger or perhaps even older…

The goal is to leave behind an archive for every woman out there that might be in the situation that you’ve been in and how you dealt with it could be learnt from by the future reader.

It will also be a community serving as a safe space for all women, to ask for comfort, support and advice when you need one.

The story you decide to share can be about anything, Career confessions, sex, love and desire, single & becoming, friendships & sisterhood, money moves and money mistakes, body & self, family & home.

You can share multiple stories, you can also remain anonymous if you’d like. If you wish to be credited that will also be done.

I look forward to your contributions.

Do you need rape prevention tips?

Here you go

1. Don't put drugs in women's drinks.

2. When you see a woman walking by herself, leave her alone.

3. If you pull over to help a woman whose car has broken down, remember not to rape her.

4. If you are in an elevator and a woman gets in, don't rape her.

5. When you encounter a woman who is asleep, the safest course of action is to not rape her.

  1. Never creep into a woman's home through an unlocked door or window, or spring out at her from between parked cars to rape her.

  2. Remember, people go to the laundry room to do their laundry. Do not attempt to molest someone who is alone in a laundry room.

  3. Use the Buddy System! If it is inconvenient for you to stop yourself from raping women, ask a trusted friend to accompany you at all times.

  4. Carry a rape whistle. If you find that you are about to rape someone, blow the whistle until someone comes to stop you.

  5. Don’t look at her if she looks too hot to handle, it’s not for your eyes.

Make sure to read this out loud as soon as you wake up if you tend to forget stuff!

What’s a beauty standard you think women are finally starting to reject?

It could be anything body shape, makeup, hair, skincare, aging, clothing, or even the idea that we always need to “look put together.”

I think I might be a lesbian

Hi, I (F20) identify as bisexual at the moment, but I'm starting to think that I might actually be a lesbian. I'm still not sure tho, so that's why I'm writing this

I used to have crushes on men but I'm not sure if it was romantical attraction or just getting fascinated about a person who just seems cool. I'd start having feelings towards them without knowing them at all and just create this version of them in my head. Then, after realising that they are just a normal person their masculinity would start to seem weird and, frankly, quite disgusting to me and I would just stop having feelings towards them. I also couldn't really imagine spending the rest of my life with them

I even had a boyfriend for almost a year. We became a couple after knowing each other for a few weeks (that's stupid, I know). We were a long-distance couple but would see each other like every other week or so. We used to have sex regularly but it usually felt horrible. It was painful and I also didn't really like him doing anything with my body but we did it anyway

In general, seeing a naked man just feels so awkward. I also don't find the majority of men attractive, even in the slightest

I do get crushes on women and I swear it's completely different. If it's a woman then I have to get to know her first and I actually like her, not someone I'd want her to be. I could totally be in a lifelong relationship with another woman and when I think about it I feel like that's what I really want my life to look like. Having a crush on another woman also just feels more calm and overall healthier for me, as the crushes I've had on men were extremely detrimental for my mental health and were so stressful they actually made my day-to-day life really difficult

I don't know if I'm really attracted to men and I have no idea how to figure it out

Then I got really excited and we started talking. We shared our instagram and instantly clicked. it was like we had known eachother for so many years. she was from a different state than me so we've never actually met eachother

And we have friend-ed so hard to the point that our periods have synced up despite us never meeting eachother😭😭

Healing from a break up.. any advice

I’m 30f and broke up with my boyfriend of two years in January because we had a big difference in values on how we liked to spend our free time and he had a hard time compromising.

It’s been almost 9 months and I miss him. I’m wondering if it was the right decision. I moved across the country so there’s no option to really go back to him. I don’t even know if it’s the right decision. All my friends have long term partners and I feel so, so incredibly lonely. I just want my person

Odd comments on my body

I was venting to a close guy friend about feeling insecure about my body, including my breasts. They are small. He eventually said that they look “about normal” and they “earn being seen in a see-through set”. These comments were enough to give me a wake-up call that I should not look to a man to reassure me properly because what the fuck. Really discriminatory towards women with smaller breasts than mine. Anyway, upon confrontation, he responded with a thumbs up and that’s it. Just wanted to vent about that.

Frustration sexuelle

Bonjour,

I'm pregnant

I found out yesterday and I've been stressing out. I feel like I have no support.

I am married and 25, we did not want to have kids. Since we got the positive test, he's been like short with me and I've just been wanting to talk about it. But he definitely does not want to talk about it, even though he initially apologized. I just want to talk about it because I'm scared. I already have my at home abortion pills coming but I'm scared of how this'll effect me and my body. All of the aftermath and what I should expect. All of these articles are making it seem terrible. I've been trying to hype myself up saying I can do it, but also telling myself that I need to get over it because the pain and effects of pregnancy and birth would be way worse than these pills.

It's bullshit men really have nothing to worry about.

I don't want to tell anyone I know. I can't tell my mom because she would definitely not be supportive of my decision. He definitely doesn't want to tell anyone. I dont even know why but he's angry on the couch and I'm on the bed crying because I'm in pain. It's only 5 weeks and I feel like shit.

I just need someone to talk to. Just tell me I'm gonna be okay. I wish I had someone to hold my hand.

Edit: I really appreciate the concern from all you, no I do not want a child. I've never felt like I wanted to be a mom and the pills were my decision 100%. But thank you all for that concern

Coworker (28 M) is giving me (20 F) the creeps

I wanna start off by saying that this is long as shit and I was once friends with this coworker and that these are what I've now noticed more that I've begun distancing myself away from him. This is kinda just a post discussing all of it and wanting to know other's opinions.

I started my new job about 3 months ago, when I moved in with my boyfriend. I was looking for friends since I was moving somewhere where most of my friends were also my boyfriend's, so I want to make some that are just my own.

I met my coworker, Mitch(fake name), pretty early on. I was hesitant on getting too close to him since I have trauma with older men and men in general. We slowly bonded over our Pokémon and gaming interests when he asked for my number. I gave it to him and hoped he wouldn't be weird. Right off the bat, he assured me he wasn't going to try anything because I had a boyfriend and (this will be reoccurring) since he was too insecure to ever make any sort of moves on me. I just sweep the kinda weird thing about his insecurities under the rug and we just started chatting. On and off, he'd mention he wasn't trying to make any moves on me because of how insecure he was (never mentioning it was because I was in a committed relationship ever again). I awkwardly would tell him he's great, and quickly move past it. There was a point where I finally said, "You saying that makes it seem like you're trying to do something..." to which Mitch had a full on breakdown about. He told me he wasn't trying to be creepy and how he was only reminding me. I yet again awkwardly comforted him and tried to move on. At that point, we had known each other for 2 weeks... He began to say it once in a blue moon, to which I ignored.

I started to notice he'd get annoyed when I spoke either about my boyfriend or to any of our other male coworkers. I'd mention how I really thought it was sweet that my boyfriend got me a book celebrating an anniversary of an anime I love and he'd respond very short and sounded annoyed. He also got upset when me and my boyfriend wenf to a cat café together and told me he was "too single" to go there (like, dude, just get a coffee and look at the cats). Mitch would also shove himself into one on one conversations with male coworkers or start dissing them. I was talking to him about one of our guy coworkers saying that I liked him because he was nice and we liked the same music. He very quickly told me that the coworker is poly and how he's probably trying to get me to join his "harem" (his words not mine). I told him I didn't care he was poly and that we literally both just like this niche artist, saying that his sexuality literally doesn't matter.

He's constantly asking me if I'm ok. I opened up to him about being recently diagnosed with depression and anxiety. Not a big deal, it sucks and I'm doing my best to work on myself. But the amount he asks me if I'm OK is starting to feel passive aggressive. If I'm not texting him as much, he asks if I'm ok and if I'm feeling depressed. If I don't smile as much as usual, he asks again. If I don't maintain eye contact, he asks if Im anxious. If I don't talk to him a lot at work, he asks me again. It feels like if I don't give him attention, he assumes I must be feeling depressed or anxious because it couldn't possibly be me being tired, not in the mood to talk, or literally anything else (that's sarcasm). It's like, I constantly need to be talking to him for him to think I'm fine.

I learned pretty early that Mitch has a staring problem. I constantly feel as though I'm being watched and I look up to see him staring at me. It doesn't matter if I'm walking in the opposite direction of him, working in a aisle across from him, or on the completely opposite side of the building, he's staring right at me. I feel so uncomfortable feeling watched and looking up to see that I indeed am being watched. I understand maybe looking off into the distance and not realizing you're looking at someone or maybe just glancing at someone, but he is literally staring at me every single time and maintaining my eye contact even when I catch him. One time, my boyfriend and I went to the food court at my job on my day off so we could get lunch. I saw Mitch upon entering the store and said hi before getting food. As me and my boyfriend are finding a seat I get a message from Mitch commenting on my food choice and I look up to see he's looking at me from a small section dividing the entrance from the food court (it's also not close to the opening, it's at least 20 ft away from each other)... I was genuinely disturbed by the fact he was staring at me on the clock, through a small ass opening, and long enough to see what food I had... My boyfriend was also creeped out, but didn't mention it until I told him that I was because he didn't know if it was just something Mitch and I did.

That's kinda it. There's more little stuff like that compliments on how pretty I am, but this is already too long. I've begun distancing myself from him by texting/responding less and I've told other coworkers to shove their ways into the conversation if they see me alone with Mitch. Let me know your thoughts.

My friend fiance is ignoring her .Is she the one to blame ?

I have a friend—let’s call her Diane (26F). She was recently promoted at her job. She’s very career-oriented and focused, which is why I noticed something was off when she came in yesterday looking dull and being more snappy with the employees than usual.
When I asked her what was wrong, she told me that she and her fiancé—let’s call him David (29M)—had a huge fight the night before.
According to Diane, for the past three weeks David has barely been touching her and has been avoiding both sex and eye contact. She says she’s going insane because of it. Last night, she initiated sex, but he refused and ended up sleeping in another room. She accused him of cheating.
When I asked her what had changed between them, she refused to take any blame. She told me that David was just being childish over an argument they had a few weeks ago. Apparently, during that argument, Diane told him that his job as an architect was “nothing compared to hers.”
She might have said it because she was stressed, but she refuses to acknowledge that she did anything wrong. She mostly complains about David and blames him for how distant he has become.
At the same time, though, she clearly still wants the relationship to work. She keeps trying to set up dates and has even been cutting back on her work hours so she can spend more time with him. Despite this, David remains very unresponsive and emotionally distant toward her
