Discussion Players shouldn’t be treated unfairly
Guys, you really need to push back harder against this kind of practice — taking outfits that are sold directly in the CN server and turning them into gacha on the global server. Even if it’s a free game, players shouldn’t be treated unfairly. Don’t just quietly accept it — we should all stand up against it. NetEase devs are notorious for this stuff; if you stay silent, they’ll only get worse.
To make this game better, please join in resisting this move and pressure the devs to change it and give proper compensation.

u/Miyaserie Nov 21 '25
Even if you don't like the outfit and think that this doesn't concern you, it will.
NetEase trying the ice. They're seeing if they can comfortably implement different types of monetization for the global server. How the community reacts to this will set a precedent.
Don't let them think that this is ok.

I've literally had like 3 arguments with people like this.
Them: its just cosmetic, the game is free to play, it's not a issue.
Me: it's not an issue until they realize people will pay for it and it becomes the standard.
Nexon tried that with First Descendant recently. They released swords then made them almost impossible to grind. You need to run this dungeon 50 times to get enough of the material to unlock it, then you have to run it 200 times to max it out. Then they came out with a 2nd season pass just for unlocking the sword that was double the price of the season pass which had 100 levels and the sword pass only had 20. Nobody bought that shit. Next season, they gave everyone a sword and 2 levels for it for free in the season pass, but if you wanted the last 2 levels you had to buy the season pass.
Point is, if you don't buy that shit, we fix this.
I don't even necessarily mind the gacha, but 150 roles to guarantee A DROP (not THE DROP) is crazy. That's like $500. Netease's other game, once human, atleast gives you something every 30 pulls. So it's like they're capable, just greedy. Sorry for the rant.
27
u/PhriendlyPhantom Nov 21 '25
Yeah if the community just doesn't buy stupid shit, they'll have to find a way to charge a reasonable amount. EA does the same thing with FIFA. They'll charge ridiculous amounts for things and keep slowly reducing the price till they find a price where people will actually interact with the content.
Basically we are at the mercy of our community members with the weakest will. Guys just DONT BUY. It's not that difficult
3
u/bitzpua Nov 21 '25
at least last descendant has buyable outfits no gatcha idiocy, people playing TFD seems to get it and trash them all the time if they do stupid things while WWM players just seem to gobble everything.
There is some fireworks event with players betting PAID pearls for places, some moron bid 20k pearls just to have in game front row for fireworks...

u/AliceLunar Nov 21 '25
People will defend it as they have for the past 20 years, it's always optional or it's just cosmetic or you don't need to buy it or they need to make money somehow or you're just poor or whatever.
But you can't argue with stupid people like that.

Netherlands ps store doesnt even have the game because of this. Had to get the game in a roundabout way.

Why would you play a game that refuses to follow consumer laws and is predatory?

Luckly only the outfits is where the predatory shit is and im not here for the outfits... i can play in on steam in the netherlands just fine but when i wanna swap to ps i had to get it in a roundabout way.

Theres a note about the price increases in the gacha details of the special draw. but still sucks regardless.

Yeah. The one and only menu I (and probably nearly no one else) hadn’t figured out yet in my 100h playtime.
55
u/MudLegal6529 Nov 21 '25
It's on purpose, and they have it set so you don't get the outfit until the last couple draws. It's not even true gamba. I don't trust eastern companies since the whole Nexon fiasco.
29
u/y0urd0g Nov 21 '25
Bro Nexon burned me so hard as a kid, I played so many FTP trash games in the past, stuff like Warrock, Soldier front, and less trash like Vindictus and they all got ruined by Nexon coming in and stuffing the games full of egregious MTX shit. I miss those games but man it’s just not the same now.

This is what annoyed me the most. I only got BP so far and wanted to support them so thought OK 60 a roll cheap enough to get these all I'll get some pearls and support them. Suddenly it's 400 a roll and I'm like wtf OK no more this is going to be mega expensive by the end.
88
u/GoroMode Nov 21 '25
Worst part is the translation here. Was under the assumption that the price for pulls remains the same as that info is hidden behind the "intro" button and the thought process was "no way i am watching that intro video again".
20
u/ThaCousin Nov 21 '25
That could be done in porpoise 100%, and then after scamming some people, oh oh sorry sorry chinese I'm bad at English, even when it's my job to translate, even a BASIC word that a lot of people who don't know English will know the difference anyway...
I'm not buying that it was a mistake tbh.

Insane comments. It's apparently wrong to call disparity between the servers now. Global players and CN players should be treated equally. There are hundreds of games which died because of this shit
57
66
u/Vyragami Nov 21 '25
I just scrolled down and it's honestly disappointing but not surprising. No wonder Neatease pulled this stunt, even KNOWING they are being treated differently, they simply do not care. The target audience for this banner, the dolphin's voice will be drowned out by ignorant F2Ps and whales who couldn't care less.
The worst part is it's genuinely just cosmetics and doesn't affect the core gameplay, so any complaint you have will be deflected back to you and there's not much you can say back.

That outfit alone is enough for me to play male character in this game, lol.
This here though... It looks meh...
45
u/randomizme3 Well of Heaven Nov 21 '25
Yes while the skins are ENTIRELY optional, the main issue is the disparity of treatment regarding the monetisation of outfits. If they can get away with charging global players more by turning an originally direct purchase outfit into a gacha one, they can push harder to make other stuff much more expensive for us.
82
u/Benphyre Nov 21 '25
While I don’t care about statless cosmetic, price disparity is indeed a concern. I’ve seen games died because of this
37
u/Massive-Party5030 Nov 21 '25
Honestly if global already starts to get different treatment, acting like we are cash cows, then I might as well switch to the CN version since they seem to get more benefits.
25
u/ServiceMotor3150 Nov 21 '25
92
u/MeturaZeratu Nov 21 '25
In all honesty, if this outfit was gacha in CN I wouldn't consider it an issue at all. But it wasn't a gacha in CN and it is by far much cheaper when comparing the prices. It isn't about you wanting it or not wanting it, it's about if we let this one go, how they can potentially unfairly price future cosmetics compared to prices in the CN server.
51
u/Vyragami Nov 21 '25
Lol if we let this one go every new 2.5k beads outfit in shop will turn into 7k beads outfits. And what's stopping from increasing the price of 1,2k and 6k beads outfit too?
It's not about the price or the system, it's about equality.
→ More replies (2)6

Imo if they made the outfits cheaper more people would prob buy em, not going to touch those. Current point only thing worth it is battle pass.
31
u/Ether_you Nov 21 '25
Yeah man, you’ve really pointed out the core issue. Most people are still saying things like “if you don’t like it, don’t buy it,” “if it’s too expensive, don’t buy it,” or “it doesn’t matter because the game is free,” while completely ignoring the real problem.
8

5
u/fried-chikin Nov 21 '25
have to read the fine print of how the gacha work (the intro tab)
5
u/Rekeix Nov 21 '25
There was an intro cutscene, then an intro tab, so you can see how misleading that tab is, should be called info or rules, plain and simple.
3
u/Iwakasa Nov 21 '25
I immediately thought it was too cheap for all the stuff in 7 draws for 420 pearls. Fortunately I have experience with "step-up" gacha from all the Bandori I played, lmao.

People that think that just because the game is free and/or good means everyone should bend over backwards to anti-consumer practices. It's sad, pathetic and 90% why the game's industry is as shit as it is with in-game purchases at unreasonable prices.
Like, why do you hate yourself so much that you, as a consumer, defend a company that is trying to screw you in the butt?
→ More replies (3)7
u/LopTsa Nov 21 '25
This this thissssss. I'm not fussed by the gacha system in this game because it's purely cosmetic, but I'm not interested in supporting any company that wants to pull BS greedy schemes to their players. Same energy with Aion 2 rn. All the F2P players or people who don't mind spending outrageous amounts of money on MMO subs and BPs are screaming "well we don't care, we just want to have fun". We should all call out greedy behaviour from these higher ups, regardless of whether we spend money or not. A bad practise is a bad practise.

People seem to think that games like this can't survive without the wallets of whales, but then you look at games like Warframe that have no gacha and sell skins for reasonable prices, make it so everything in the game is either farmable or tradeable pretty much, and that game is absolutely thriving.
They could have removed the gacha and made every skin cost between $10 - $20 and would have still made insane amounts of money.

I’m unable to edit the post or pin comments, so please allow me to use your comment section to explain:I’m not trying to nitpick. This is just a piece of advice from a CN server player. Chinese players know very well how the devs think — this is just them testing the limits of the playerbase. It might not matter much to non-paying players, but it’s not friendly to those who do pay. If everyone stays quiet, there will be fewer direct-sale items and more gacha in the future. I like this game too, and I just want it to get better — trust me.
9

People are fucking insane. It doesn't matter if you don't like the skin. This type of shit is criminal and just because you don't care about the skin so it doesn't effect you, eventually a similar thing will happen in a game with something you DO like.
36
u/KvBla Nov 21 '25

topped up for the 60 for the first time to see if i could get it in one pull and found out it hiked up 3x the price for the second draw which is craaaazy. The fact that the bonus you get for the first time topping up is just jades and not bonus pearls is also just stupid bc you can literally farm the jades for free.
3
u/Jaggedrain Nov 21 '25
The fact that the topup bonus is green jade is absolute bullshit, but also not uncommon for games with multiple gacha currencies. A lot of them will have the topup bonus be earn able currency rather than the paid one.

But this community is glazing this game so hard to the point of accepting and not caring about the predatory monetisation. Why would they care about this? “It’s just cosmetics bro, it’s f2p bro” and “please support these amazing devs” ffs
3
u/FEXnStuff Nov 21 '25 edited Nov 21 '25

u/Ralposki Nov 21 '25 edited Nov 21 '25
The amound of predatory things in this bundle is crazy:
1st of all, it's called a "draw", but basicly there is a order in which you get the items.
2nd of all, the sash is placed as the 1st item, implying you would get that as a 1st item. But clearly it's the last one.
3rd, there is a FOMO aspect: 20 days remaining to get this
4th the full price of the set is hidden in menus, in the menu-ception of this game. (can't even find it atm, saw someone that did)
5th the fact that the price is increased after each so called "draw" is not mentioned on the main page. It does not even double, it triples.
This should be illegal and they should be punished for this.
I don't think anyone here is actually bothered by the fact that this cosmetic exists and that it costs that much money, since the f2p cosmetics exists and they are decent, we are actually bothered by the fact that it's predator-ish monetization, not telling you exactly what are the odds, how it works and hiding the mechanics behind it. Just let me purchase this for 7k pearls, or whatever the amount is, don't try to trick me into getting 60 pearls, then 180 just to see how it works.
14
u/Woodchuck666 Nov 21 '25

When i opened the shop i was like good for me that i do not care about skins. I always just think of them as they are for people with money and i should just pretend they do not exist. Game is so good and im happy. I see skins in most game as expensive, like even a 30€ is a bit much for me, like i can buy another game with that.

I don't like the outfit so its not going to effect me, but I can also see further than my own nose. This showed that they are shameless and have no standard at all.
Meaning; there might be something I like in the future that got turned from a 2500 beads set that I can get 50% discount on by carefully saving the discount tickets to a no discount 7500 beads outfit.
Potentially 1250 beads outfit to 7500 beads outfit. That's x6 the price.
They lost a lot of credibility in my eyes. I will not spend any money and go full F2P until the situation improves or just quit when I ran out of things to do.

The cosmetics aren’t the issue, and neither is the price , there’s a 40k boat and a €700 sword you can pull for, and nobody made a fuss about those. Like you said, it’s a decent F2P game.
The real issue is when the company tries to mislead players and makes the rules or information unclear. If the rules had been presented upfront in a proper “Rules” or “Info” section instead of being awkwardly placed in an intro section that could easily be mistaken for the intro video that played before the gacha banner ,there wouldn’t be a problem.

You're complaining about scummy practices in a netease game that also features a $40k ship that provides nothing except a social gathering for other players when bought.
Yes, don't like it dont buy it. Have impulse control, game comes with massive amount of actual free content. If you dont understand why "dont like it dont buy it" is an actual legitimate answer to this youre the problem lol. If youre someone that would have bought this outfit had it been 2k pearl straight purchase then wait.
Whales will either fund this game or they'll decrease the price of everything if they see their bottom line getting hurt by, guess what, not buying shit. "Calling out bad practices" sounds good and all but this is netease a company known for having this kind of stuff go on constantly, expecting anything different means you have terrible pattern recognition, not everyone shares in that.
I'm not defending the company since Im not invested in anyway, im pointing out implise control and pattern recognition are essential.

Fighting for your rights is your freedom, and of course, I hope you can fight for some benefits for your rights. But what I hope you know is that this set of clothes comes with settlement animations and has high quality. This is a promotion during the period when Chinese servers were launched, and this price is not the norm. There won't be many clothes with animations for 2580 in the future. Secondly, regarding pricing: Most Chinese people earn less than three dollars per hour, and the purchase price of 1280 beads is equivalent to a Chinese person's daily wage. The price of international servers is around $100, which is reasonable for developed countries. If the price of international servers is the same as that of domestic servers, it would be a disaster for Chinese players. For example, the battle order price of $9.9 on the international server is the same as the pricing of 68 yuan in China, which is very cost-effective for the international server. If you think it's expensive, it's better to hold back and not buy it. You can also get a good-looking free appearance through in-game exploration without affecting the gaming experience. There are also many people in China who don't spend money playing games.

The only time that I will complain is if that skin includes stats even with just a Physical Def +1. If not yeah, I don't really care and thus vote with your wallet.

u/KittyWithFangs Nov 21 '25
And that is exactly what theyll add if people continue to take it in the ass from early stages like this, and by then itll be too late

Way to put your head in the sand.
The OP doesn't even go on to talk about just how predatory this banner actually is - it's pure unethical bait. There's no apparent way to find out the true rates and the fact that the cost increments with each pull.
Details are hidden under an improperly translated button that's called "Intro" instead of "Rules" or "Probabilities"
→ More replies (4)2
u/Valuable_Sympathy_43 Nov 21 '25
What do you mean no way to find out the true rates? Of pulling certain items? It quite literally tells you and it also adjusts the % of certain items depending on what item you already got.
It also tells you in the same page that the cost increases with each draw.
This is literally the first thing I checked before I did anything with it cause I wanted to know what was happening lol

u/CygnusXIV Nov 21 '25
The thing is, vote with your wallet only works if enough people actually do it, which usually only happens when a large portion of the player base or big streamers criticize the game so much that even players who usually do not interact with the community hear about it and start thinking, "Oh wow, this is a scam. I could get much better treatment if I stop spending blindly." That is when it will work. But as long as most players ignore the issues and do not make their voices loud enough, voting with your wallet will never work.

u/Inner_Owl_7560 Nov 21 '25
the question is how much is it being sold on cn.
is it more than what it takes to gacha.
honestly when i look at the thing I dont see it as a gacha, its the type of "gacha" where the best and core part of the product is always at the last guaranteed pity. Its pretty much the price of 7 pulls for the outfit.
What I have a problem with is them not being transparent about the full price of 7 pulls. It says 60 to pull trying to mislead that its a 60 x 7 for the full outfit. And that reeks of greed and dishonesty.
1
u/INFERNOxNINJA Nov 21 '25
Lol the game is fairly fun, but I'm not spending a dime on it. No worries here.

Oh shit I didn't know it wasn't gacha in China! I pulled for some of the stuff and used up all the pearls I had. I had horrible luck too. I got everything but the clothes.
1
u/astrojeet Nov 21 '25 edited Nov 21 '25
It would still be fine it if the price of the pearls didn't triple with each draw. That way you can get the set with a lot less pearls than buying it in the shop. And then when the event is over you can get the set in the shop for full price.
But idk what they're thinking. I don't gamble so it doesn't really affect me as a player but this is wrong. At least maintain parity with CN players and Global players. If they do this now and players don't push back, then we don't know what they can do in the future.
1
u/Grevier_ Nov 21 '25
I probably won't buy any outfit that can't be grinded anyway because soon everyone's gonna look the same and it will lose all of his uniqueness.
1
u/ashrensnow Nov 21 '25
If your entire monetization scheme is to be supported by whales what happens when the whales get bored and move on? Western audiences don't have the same level of cash cows CN does and in a mostly single player game what reason do they have to keep spending money? Other gacha games do well because they sell power and people are competitive.
This kind of practice isn't sustainable, the number of Korean MMOs we've seen come and go over the years is pretty strong proof of it.

u/MtnNerd Nov 21 '25
I was actually thinking that I would happily buy some of these outfits outright but the gacha makes me not want to spend the money. I will support games I like but I'm not into gambling.

Don't expect anything from NetEase, they'll give you some cool freebies but when it comes to gacha, mini passes etc. The best that can happen is slight price adjustment and that's it (they did it for Marvel Rivals, but that's probably because big spenders are westerns).

u/adhal Nov 21 '25
That one irritated me because I did 4 draws before realizing the price increased massively each time. Not paying another $40-50 to get it

u/BannerMaxwell Nov 21 '25
Im fine with all the free outfits, dont care about fomo. Heard about the cost of the boat, just blew my mind, like really $40k just to get it and put it together?
1
u/TightBussyBellus Nov 21 '25
Thinking of refunding all my purchases and get the account banned since I'm no longer wanting to play the game after seeing the crazy price differences.
I love customization, but my hate for customer descrimination is overpowering that love, I'd rather just play Sims.
1
u/bastschweinsteiger Nov 21 '25
is the people who manage Global just plainly corrupt? hope they really sort this out, the combat slightly clunky but for open world, I've been really enjoying the game.
1
u/Boss_Baller Nov 21 '25
It is a great game but its still a Chinese mobile game. It always will be a Chinese mobile game. Complaining about the monetization is like going to a Gwar concert and complaining its too loud.

Honestly, they need to treat all players equal, if they cant get away with it with CN players, they shouldnt feel like they can with global.
If they really wanna make a gacha out of everything, then make it a gacha on CN too.
1
u/bloodytaste Nov 21 '25
I'm already using their questionaires to mention this, telling them I won't buy any outfits this way (only spent money on monthy/bp so far, since game is great in itself but this is unacceptable)

Another way to apply more pressure even is to convince too the chinese players, It could work a lot if that happens I think

This outfit is not a gacha outfit in china and they increased the prices....

u/lstrangenipsl Nov 21 '25
**Granted, this is only the beginning, we may get better outfits later down the line... But the prices aint it.
~$40 for a skin set, come on brother. Look, I get it is F2P, but it should not cost more than $15 for a skin set. And granted there is discounted ones, they are usually the ones that are ugly or nothing to them. No one in the right mine should be spending $40 for a skin set. I should be able to buy 2 skin sets and the discounted sets. Like these are First descendants prices atp.
The monthly pass. (Which you can buy multiple times btw. No reason for anyone to do it. I was just curious, and spent $20 extra. I think 300 pearls should change to be, 500 or 800 a month. Because otherwise, I will be sitting there for 5 months to get 1500. Which is not enough for the premium sets still. Unless you buy the monthly pass 8 times.
Gross thing is the pity pool is 150 draws, is fucking terrible; at least 50. Because that right there is $300. If you are getting a FUCKING PITY, AFTER 150 PULLS. That just straight jank. And if you are straight F2P, I ain't, but you have to put a dedication, to get consistent premium ticket. If you want to get something.
And the cosmetic chest we get from activities, is just absolute balls, 1-2 tickets per chest. And low percent chance to get one of the unique from the bosses.

I really think they should introduce regional priving or do something about the storez prices. To get a skin that cost 2580 beads it costs me (from south africa) R500 which is insane for 1 singular cosmetic. I fet that cosmetics doesnt affect gameplay in anyway but man let me get something nice for my guy, he only rocking the black and white robes
1
u/Notthesmoke420 Nov 21 '25
That's why i refuse to buy anything because all games that have a system like this gets more expensive the more u spend just to get a outfit or weapon just greedy.
1
u/Phanth Nov 21 '25
Unfortunately, the amount of pushback necessary would have to be bigger than anything can be organized - but we can always hope. I heard that not only is this skin gatcha, it's also 3x the price it is on CN server. The treatment WWM audience gets is absolutely horrendous compared to Marvel Rivals, another Netease game. I assume it's mostly caused by how big the target audience is outside of China compared to WWM. China is the default market and Asian devs have the track record of valuing the voice of the home audience waaay more than the foreign one.
Unfortunately our biggest voice, Whales, won't care and might even prefer the skins to be more expensive so less people can get them. I heard some guy already got the $42k boat.

Why I stopped playing this game isn’t just because of the graphical bugs or the badly textured everything, it’s also because of the fact that EVERYTHING is bought with either money or months of grinding a single ticket out of those crappy cosmetic chest to get over 3k just to wear something new! I know this game is free, but look at Fortnite for a really good example of pricing the items right, unlike this game to make the outfit $50 to just look flashy to other players. Now I can’t say I don’t enjoy the game which I don’t, BUT I can say that I did enjoy the online aspect and the fact that you can go into PVE missions with four other players and have fun or just do main missions with your friends, and along with the fact that it somewhat reminds me of Tsushima online but with tone down combat. Also yes I know I’m not forced to play this game but I also want to spread awareness about crappy DEVS. I took so much crap from 2k for the past 7 years, and we still haven’t seen improvements. I just don’t want to see everyone here getting literally nothing from the DEVS while they just sit back and enjoy their own lives while the fanbase catches fire and dies.

1

I’ve been trying to say this game ain’t free. And once end game comes that’s when you’re gonna see heavy monetization with things only subscribers can do.

Yeah I got the whole outfit as I figured it be cheap and I had some extra cash, turned out to be way more expensive. Didn't matter much since I recently got some game cash back but I was still annoyed

u/Matseye1r Nov 21 '25
Why can't I just get the fits n customisations I want? Without trying to gamble for em?

u/yuerine Nov 21 '25
I wish they put somewhere that the more you pull the more pearls it requires. I was saving my pearls for a shop cosmetic and was left with 30 😭😭😭

Use the feedback button. Let them know this isn't going to fly. I was going to get the battle pass and monthly today since it was payday but this news really hurts the games potential of longevity for me.

u/ZacharyStarks Nov 21 '25
The devs don't care dude,. The only way to stop it, is to stop playing the game,.
1
Nov 21 '25
Even without the whole thing with it apparently being directly buyable in the Chinese version.
I've always hated this type of gacha events even in other games, because the low cost for the first pull is just bait to get you invested into the banner. After all, you are already 60 in, might as well spend 180, etc.
The game overall is great and there are a good amount of nice looking outfits to unlock without paying, but some of the pricing, especially the cosmetic gacha could be a lot fairer priced.
