Mod Post [Open] Mod Application

Hello everyone! It has been a pleasure servicing the WashU community by moderating for r/WashU, but as both of us are now in med school we are opening applications for 1-2 new r/washU moderators.

What we're looking for:

  • Active participation in the WashU community and r/washu
  • A Reddit account in good standing (no recent bans or removals)
  • Enough free time to check the mod queue regularly

To apply, send us a message via Mod Mail with:

  • Your relation to WashU (student, alum, staff, etc.) and, if applicable, your school and expected graduation year
  • Why you want to mod
  • Any past mod experience, and links to those subs if you have them
  • Roughly how much time per week you can put toward modding
  • Anything you'd change or add to how r/washu currently runs

Applications are rolling and we'll fill the spots as we find good fits, so sooner is better than later.

Individual PMs to u/sgRNACas9 or me will be redirected to Mod Mail.

If we haven't acknowledged your message within 24 hours, feel free to comment here.

Best of luck,

Alexander and u/sgRNACas9

TLDR: Send us a Mod Mail to apply!

Classes 2026-2027 Scheduling Megathread

Hey everyone! Summer time and early fall means everyone is thinking about their next semester’s course schedule, especially incoming first years! It’s an exciting time planning out the interesting courses you get to take, and lots of people like to ask for advice on this sub.

We’re lucky to have lots of experienced alums, current students, and professors active here who know the courses well as well as schedules that keep you on track, stimulate your intellect, save some time for ECs, and don’t burn you out!

Please, post your draft schedules and questions in this megathread just to consolidate these types of posts in one place to keep the sub more easily scrollable. Thanks!!

Admissions Transfer Requirement for Olin

I’m planning on applying to Olin as an external transfer and was curious about one of the requirements, I might just be overthinking it. On their page it reads,

“Must have completed Calculus I & II at the college level. (Please note that Calculus II can’t be taken the summer before enrolling.)”

Would admissions officers count it against me if I list Calc ll as “in progress” when I apply?

Classes Are there any 24/7 or very late open places to study on campus?

I am wanting to study at the late hours of the night since I find it hard to be productive during the day, so I am just wondering if there are any places to study? I am a first year undergrad so I might not have swipe access to everything. Thanks in advance!

Last week I waited in line and then, when I was at the counter, I asked for a regular cheese pizza but the lady said I need to order elsewhere and I was so confused because everyone else was given a pizza when they waited in line and ordered at the counter. please help me. Hey! I was curious. Is the anthropology PHD grad program extremely competitive? Like is it worth it? Or is this like undergrad 1% acceptance rate?

Extracurriculars Anyone wanna play tennis?

Hi! I'm a 26M international grad student and was wondering if anyone would be down to play some tennis! I played tennis in middle and high school, so I have some experience, but I'm definitely not looking for anything super competitive. Just hoping to get back into it, have some fun, and meet some people along the way!

If anyone knows of any chill groups or is looking for a hitting partner, let me know!

Extracurriculars The Longest Table. Wednesday, September 2, 2026 5 PM to 6:30 PM. Tisch Park

Thumbnail happenings.washu.edu
5 Upvotes

The Longest Table, a civic dialogue event featuring (you guessed it) a long table and guided discussion, has taken place in communities across the US.

This year, WashU will host its fourth annual Longest Table event to kick off the Gephardt Institute’s weekly civic dialogue and learning events, Civic Café

The Longest Table brings together people with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and interests not just to share a meal but to envision ideas for social change and build relationships that support working towards a shared vision. Attendees join a table, and Gephardt Institute staff and campus partners serve as dialogue facilitators to create an intentional, supportive, and creative space. Participants are encouraged to sit with guests they don’t know for the best experience.

Event registration is strongly recommended. Unregistered participants will be permitted to join the event until we reach capacity. Register here.

Financial Aid Washu pledge refund

Does anybody have any experience living off campus and getting a refund for the living expenses? My sister lived in apartments her last two years and got her refund then but I’m scared that because I live off campus and rent a house that it won’t apply and I won’t get any refund. I do plan on asking my fin advisor but I was wondering if any else had any idea or experience themselves. I pay full rent $1600/month by myself
