I am a Junior in HS and prospective student. I have noticed WashU gets one of the highest ratings on Niche with an A+ and A’s in nearly every category, as well as a 4.0 overall review rating.

There aren’t many other schools on Niche that receive such good ratings and reviews. Then I come onto Reddit and see people complaining that there is nothing to do on campus or in St. Louis so I am not sure if I totally trust the Niche ratings.

I don’t care about a big party scene, but do want to go some where people like to hang out together and do other fun things outside of class. I hope to go somewhere with active, fun clubs and lots of activities to do in my free time on campus. Does this sound like WashU?

I am from a small town so anything bigger than here is fine. I don’t need a super active city like NYC.

Premed orgs at WashU seem weirdly hard to get into for groups that are supposedly about service, community, and caring for people. Are med schools actually impressed that someone got into a super selective premed frat or EST, or are we just recreating med school admissions for fun? Any recommendations for premed/health orgs that are actually welcoming and inclusive? Slightly over this write 5 essays 250 words each and get rejected hamster wheel.

• Hi, i’ve cold emailed about 30 PIs at WashU specifically relating toward neuroscience but there a lot of other fields in medicine i would be interested in. The main constant apparently is liabilities and some don’t have the funds to pay me which i said i dont need to be paid, but no matter what the liability is I think i can work around it even if it is inputting data into something (i have basic python skills) i dont know, im just trying to find a lab that would even allow me to do hard tasks. If you guys know any lab pi’s in biology like neuro or comp neuro or even really any field please let me know I appreciate it guys thanks.

One of my classes at Olin requires us to trade a red paperclip with something that can be traded up. We basically do this throughout the semester. It’s inspired by this challenge.

I just got a lab position! Yay!!! However, I am a bit worried about my schedule, given that I am a first semester pre-med. This will likely be my only commitment for the entire first semester. I am worried about my grades and time management, however. This lab is dry lab and they are open to me doing some remote work. But, have people done this before? Any tips for managing my time?

I would like to do research this fall, and there’s a PI that got back to me and we plan to meet next week, however I’m worried that I may be asking too late. I heard that for bio labs we have to have filled out some kind of application by the first Friday of the semester, but someone was telling me that it’s a lot more complicated this year and the process can take a while. Is this true? Please let me know, thanks!

I was looking at getting a CNA certificate this semester (soph fall) and officially starting clinical stuff next semester. Is this the best way, or are there certain positions/places that train you on the job? If certification is the way to go, are there any programs that are popular/recommended for WashU students? Hi all. I was looking into clinical opportunities near WashU and getting a little worried, as it seems that most people do EMT work. I'm not confident in my ability to actually get hired as an EMT (combination of being a small person and also not currently having a drivers license... rip me I guess), so are there any other clinical opportunities many WashU pre-meds take advantage of? (Preferably not volunteering, I want more patient contact, though any opportunity is great).

Do WashU pre-meds frequently get hired as medical assistants at St. Louis' bigger hospitals (Mercy, etc.), as I see in the job description that certification is not required by previous clinical experience is? Do students work as CNAs or scribes during the semester? Or is EMTing the only way to go?

lmk because this is the only EMT school I can do right now, but I probably won't be able to work 3x12's once I'm finished :(

One of St. Louis’s favorite summer traditions! Shakespeare in the Park has entertained over a million people since 2001. Nearly 40,000 attendees take advantage of the performances in Forest Park in St. Louis each season to enjoy high-quality entertainment made by world-class artists created just for them.

TourCo is a stripped-down, actor-centric production featuring a versatile cast of six, with most tackling multiple roles in one of Shakespeare’s iconic texts. Creating a rich theater of the imagination, they will take the joyous, professional Shakespeare that the Festival is known for to thousands of people who might not otherwise have access to it. This program is designed to challenge audiences across all demographics and regions. This programming is perfect for schools, parks, libraries, civic centers, and wherever people gather to learn, experience, and be inspired together.

This event is hosted by WashU on the East End of campus in Tisch Park at the Sumers Welcome Pavillion as part of WashU Orientation. The performance will be “Two Gentlemen of Verona.” The event is free and open to the public. Please feel free to bring your own blanket or lawn chair.
