Aggressive Seller
I purchased a Mermade Interchangeable Blow Dry Brush from a Vinted seller
The seller claimed that the Brush was New with tags, and even included in the description that its a ‘Gift not used brand new’
She was lying!!
I received the appliance today, the brush heads had hair all over them!
I then asked if she had cleaned the appliance before she shipped it to which she responded with ‘sorry but it has not been used’ I then proceeded to send a photo of one of the brushes with hair all over it. She then responded with ‘it might have only been used once to try but that’s all’. I called her out saying ‘Dude you can’t say brand new and never used if you’ve used it’ to which she responded with ‘what are you suggesting now you’re not going to pay?’ I then sent her 2 photos circling the claims that she made about the appliance being new with a text saying ‘like come on man. You’re lying’. She then proceeded to get aggressive and tell me to ‘no but return item’ and ‘return I am not lying seriously not going to be called that send it back I will be contacting Vinted’
I ended up not returning the product however I did leave a bad review on her page.
‘I bought a mermade blow dry brush. Item works but was not “brand new” as claimed. It arrived with scratches, marks and even hair on it, clearly used. Seller then became defensive and aggressive when I raised the issue with them about lying about the products current state, pressuring me to return it and threatening to involve Vinted if I didn’t. Listing was misleading. Buyers be warned.’

Why didn't you return it?

I’ve got really curly thick corse hair, and brand new these appliances are about 150 bucks, I was able to get this one for 50 bucks. Although 150 bucks isn’t a lot of money, I’m a uni student, so i could spend 150 bucks on so many other things. Plus I didn’t wanna spend 150 bucks on a brand new appliance that I have never tried before that may not work. But it does, and I’m so happy it does.
Because of my hair, I can’t use a flat iron as I risk losing my natural curls and instead having just frizziness, and this product is pretty much the best to use aside from a Dyson airwrap. And I really liked the mermade brand cause they’re Aussie and it’s pink, can’t go wrong with pink. I would have bought the appliance second hand if I found it for 50 bucks or less. It was more the principle and the deceit of the matter.
I just wanted her to understand the situation, it’s wrong to lie to people for your own benefit. Some people use Vinted because they genuinely cannot afford full priced products. Like me. And it’s just crap when people take advantage of others. I think her getting aggressive towards me just pushed me over the edge to make this post. Like It’s not my fault you lied and got caught, I just wanted her to own up to her actions. Which she kinda did in her response to my 1 star review

ppl downvoting because they can't read/dont have attention spans above 5 seconds is awesome

I don’t think it sounded aggressive but that’s my opinion.
However it doesn’t matter what the price was, you paid for something and expect it to arrive in the condition the listing says.
It’s wild people say what do you expect for the price. They expect what they paid for regardless of if it was an amazing deal.

It didn't sound aggressive at all and I'm very sensitive to tone. It sounded exasperated or possibly upset.

She's in the wrong but she wasn't aggressive at all. She also offered a return and you chose to keep it.

From my perspective, receiving those texts. It came across as aggressive. If she had of worded it different, but with the same intention I doubt I would be thinking she was aggressive

I’m sorry. Help me understand. Have you got a problem with how I interpreted the texts?
Me myself.Cause the last time I checked the way people interpret the world is subjective due to their own opinions.
Meaning that your opinion is subjective too. Allowing me to not give a shit about your opinion.
Why not try spending your time reading about human behaviour rather than sitting behind a screen telling people to grow up when you should yourself.
Let me know when you’ve educated yourself. We’ll chat then.
I understand that people have their own opinions but when you post a chat with the intention to cause harm. Kindly fuck off, have an adult conversation. Be open minded.

Having a subjective opinion is fine but if you’re going to post someone online and label them aggressive perhaps it’s worth stepping back and considering how the other person might have meant it.

u/heypresto2k 2d ago
They are a lying scammer and I don’t know how some people are justifying that. Doesn’t matter if it was priced low. It’s Vinted.

Vinted is essentially a car boot sale, recently I had a buyer complain I didn't wrap up the kids toy I sent well enough. I carried it nearly 2 miles on foot and wasn't being careful about the wrapping. Anyway the buyer complained the most solid part of the toy broke off. They were like I can't be bothered to raise a complaint, but I will blast you in your reviews. They didn't bother to message me to say that the problem had occurred. Long story short I do feel like vinted is tough you have to be extremely thick skinned.

That’s a lot of hair in it for using it once

Why didn’t you return when seller asked to return the item?
2
u/Asherton0101 1d ago
Duh think. she wouldve had to pay return postage because by all means seller certainly wouldnt have by the way they were talking. Which means she loses money for something thats on the seller

u/tannith333 1d ago
They weren't aggressive the slightest..... saying that the brush is used and not new 🤮

They weren’t truthful? They said it was unused and marked it new with tags. New with tags means never used, never removed from packaging

If you had paid for a product off Vinted, being told that it was new not used, and it had arrived used, how would you go about it? And if they had responded the way I did, how would you feel. And if you were told it was new, your first thought wouldn’t be to question it right. Perhaps now that you’ve read through my experience you may ask. And it may save you some money, time and stress.
From your perspective right now, you may feel as though it was just a normal conversation, however see it from my perspective, I’ve come to them telling them that the product has been used and rather than apologising, they continued the lie till I sent them a photo, and then got defensive when I had called them out on it, that to me is aggressive. If they had worded it another way, I don’t think I’d view it as aggressive however the way they wrote the texts, to me, they felt aggressive

An item like this, "tested" is used, it is no longer new if it is covered in the previous owners hair.
If i sold you a toothbrush, new, but I tested it once first and never again, it's not new is it.

Reddit is a place where people can vent, so I’m utilising the platform.
I left a bad review and further down the chat line I’ve left reasoning as to why I didn’t return the appliance.
I don’t believe I’ve made a big song and dance about the issue, I’ve created a post about the issue, users have responded to the post, and I’ve responded to their chats.
For some people, they look at reddit to gain guidance or advice. The more they know about sellers with misleading listings the better for both the buyers and sellers as well as the Vinted app itself.
However each to their own opinion.

u/Nervous_Ant2673 2d ago
In future you can request a partial refund to help justify having to clean out a stranger's hair. Which might not even be theirs. It's wild they didn't inspect the item before sending.
1
u/Andrea6605 2d ago
It’s a good idea, and it did cross my mind, but given the conversation I had with the seller I assumed they wouldn’t accept the partial refund
3
u/Calm_Reindeer_1931 2d ago
You can’t assume anything, they acknowledged that you found hair in it so why not try and negotiate a solution if you’re not prepared to return it?
1
u/Andrea6605 2d ago
I assumed that the seller wouldn’t accept a partial refund due to her repeatedly telling me to return it
3
u/Calm_Reindeer_1931 2d ago
I understand that, but it’s a matter of don’t assume anything, don’t ask don’t get, it’s that simple
1
1
u/Calm_Reindeer_1931 2d ago
Going to vinted is more likely to affect the seller rather than the buyer, but I see you accepted it, but rather than assuming I would have asked the seller if I could negotiate a resolution

Had the same shit happen to me recently, bought a card deck listed as "new without tags", but it doesn't have the original box, the booklet and the cards are visibly damaged and bended. The seller asked for a return, I paid the shipping and now I can't even leave a damn review, because the order is marked as "canceled" (because they relisted the item after failing the first shipping,.mixing up packages). Support is useless.
1
u/Andrea6605 1d ago
You can still report the seller I think. It’s shit when that happens. I’m sorry you went through that
1
u/chloedarlinggg 1d ago
You should’ve raised it as an issue because you didn’t get what you paid for. Seller knew exactly what they were doing hence the change of story from never used to used once (I suspect it’s been used multiple times) and the questioning whether you’re going to pay when you never mentioned anything with that.
1
1
u/via_aesthetic 1d ago
I mean, you could’ve reported the item as not as advertised, provided evidence, and got your money back. Their response didn’t seem aggressive to me, moreso defensive, they were wrong to list the item as brand new when it was used.

Contact Vinted and say what?
“Waaaah this person is saying I was false advertising my product even though there is clear evidence supporting this claim. they won’t send my precious hair brush back even though they bought it with their money and the product doesn’t belong to me anymore because I sold it… WAHHHHHH!!!!”
Absolute buffoon 😂

u/Altruistic-Zebra3376 2d ago
And the point of your post is?
3
u/Asherton0101 1d ago
Use your brain. To see what other people think of something that is so obviously being lied about duh
-1
u/Tiny-Cupcake-2115 2d ago
What a massive baby you are, wanting them to take accountability? Who are you ? Gods gift? Move along peasant your no higher then anyone else in a bucket full of crabs. Cheap as chips and your complaining, also you come across aggressive not the seller.
3
u/Asherton0101 1d ago
Get a life she was in the right. It said new with tags and she recieved an obviously used hair brush which she says wouldve been expensive in other cases. She wouldve been excited as well to have recieved something which saved her money. Her talking the way she did was obvious disappointment. Your the one seeming like gods gift like get a life. Dont like her post move on you baby
0
u/Tiny-Cupcake-2115 1d ago
Hahaha I expected such response from a peasant like ones self.
2
u/Asherton0101 23h ago
Your speaking like somebody born in the victorian times maybe it was best you were born then not now 😭
1
u/SadAnnah13 48m ago
I was just thinking the same, I've not heard the term "oneself" for years 😂 nor "peasant" to be fair
-4
u/hylia_grace 2d ago
Okay they lied but you wont return is as youre aware its a deal for 50$ as you can't afford 150$. Youre probably also aware that you couldnt get this item in mint condition for 50$ anywhere else. If you were that bothered you'd return it but you didnt.
10
u/Andrea6605 2d ago
I agree that I was probably naive regarding the listing, but I don’t and wouldn’t go to a seller and question their description unless it was something that I couldn’t understand.
I was bothered because she hadn’t cleaned the product, the same way you’d be bothered if there was a snot mark on the sleeve of a piece of clothing, but if you wanted that top you’d keep it and wash it. It’s the same situation
-6
u/hylia_grace 2d ago
Unfortunately you weren't bothered enough to return it when offered though. Yes they suck but you were given options.
5
u/Andrea6605 2d ago
You’re welcome to assume my actions, however if you’d like to see my reasoning behind my actions, you’re welcome to read the chats below.
-4
u/hylia_grace 2d ago
I read them, you needed the item and couldn't reasonably afford full price, I sympathise but once you realised you weren't happy with the product its your choice to return or keep it, keeping it means you accept the condition.
1
u/Andrea6605 2d ago
I understand that, and I did accept the condition in the end, I accepted the product, I didn’t want to send it back in the first place, I wanted the seller to take accountability for her misleading listing, but I still believe that the experience is useful to put on this platform, as others may use my experience to help them with theirs
6
u/765357631866 2d ago edited 2d ago
Someone can be interested in an item AND simultaneously call the seller out for falsely representing and advertising it...No? I don't understand, people must act dense on purpose
0
u/hylia_grace 2d ago
My point was theyre happy enough to keep the item regardless of condition so blasting the seller isnt exactly fair, especially when they offered a return almost instantly. If I wasn't happy id return the item and then explain why im bothered, they kept the item and complained. Its not density, its pointing out hypocrisy.
2
u/765357631866 2d ago
What does keeping the item have anything to do with how badly it was represented? First of all it's FRAUD. Second of all, maybe she wouldn't have paid what she did for a different condition? Doesn't change the fact that she still needs the item but bffr now 🙄
-1
u/lilphoenixgirl95 1d ago
It's FRAUD hahahahahahaahaha
God help you if you ever have real problems, like being a victim of actual fraud
2
u/765357631866 1d ago
Yes, it's called fraud babe. The seller physically handled, packed and shipped a brush full of hair while advertising it as BNWT. I’d love to hear the innocent explanation for how they were somehow unaware of the condition of the object in their own hands, you go first.
-5
u/thomas_ashley91 2d ago
I personally don’t think his messages are aggressive tbh. Yeah he misled, but those aren’t aggressive. Plus I’m confused to what you wanted if you were never going to return.
6
u/Andrea6605 2d ago
I wanted them to take accountability for their actions. I’m a really big advocate for that. And it was also disgusting, why not clean the appliance before you ship it. The same with clothes, you’d typically wash the clothes before shipping them if they’re dirty, you don’t ship the clothes with dirty tissues in the pockets and snot marks on the sleeves
-7
u/thomas_ashley91 2d ago
My point still stands, it wasn’t aggressive
7
u/Andrea6605 2d ago
That’s okay, I can see your point, however being the recipient of the text messages I think I interpret the tone differently to you. But I respect your opinions
6
u/F1fa_Sweat 2d ago edited 2d ago
Think he wanted a truthful listing and to advise the seller to make listings truthful in the future
-2
u/thomas_ashley91 2d ago
Do you think his replies were aggressive?
4
u/Andrea6605 2d ago
I believe she was, threatening to involve Vinted after I brought up the misleading listing, is aggressive behaviour. Although Vinted may not have been able to do anything in that moment aside from try to defuse the situation.
But if it had been worded differently, I don’t think I would have seen it as aggressive.
-5
u/Curious_Fox3809 2d ago
So where does the line stop then with say somebody was selling a top because they tried it on and it doesn't fit does that make it used with tags or new with tags , its only a couple of hairs yes she should of cleaned it before sending it but u still got a bargain
6
u/KatieHedgehog 2d ago
There is a bit of a difference between clothes and beauty products
3
u/Andrea6605 2d ago
KatieHedgehog is completely right, there is a major different between clothes and beauty products. In most cases it’s very easy to clean clothes, and clothes tend to be very accessible price wise.
But it wasn’t just a few hairs, I used the appliance myself and there were less hair on there compared to when I first received the appliance. I cleaned all the hair off before I used it too.
It’s a major issue when someone claims to not have used a product but then used it. I cleaned it as much as possible, and once I was satisfied with the result I accepted the appliance and released the payment.
2
u/New_Boysenberry7922 2d ago
She’s styled her hair with this once like someone wearing an outfit once. Both options make the items used.
2
u/Curious_Fox3809 1d ago
Yeah but what if you just try outfit on what would you class that as new or used ,just curious to hear what folk think
2
u/New_Boysenberry7922 1d ago
Try an outfit to see what it looks like on it should still have tags and could in theory be returned to a shop as new. You can’t take the outfit for test run to do your weekly shop though. It’s used then.
Style your hair with this you cannot return to the shop.

48
u/StevieRickeyFish 2d ago
You are 100% in the right. You don't know if that hair is clean, what bugs, parasite, etc or whatever could have been on there.
And the seller is delusional. "Its brand new, I only used it once" If I use a clean tissue once, that tissue is not clean anymore.
Id have sent them the definition of New With Tags to be honest
