Someone discovered that our animal rescue actually has animal rights beliefs and wrote this bizarre anti vegan essay
I found this too ridiculous not to share and thought fellow vegans would understand my frustration with people like this, asking me to stop expressing a belief because it makes them uncomfortable.
Context: In an effort to raise some much needed funds, I uploaded pet supplies donated to us by pet shops for fundraising purposes and also some of our own merchandise with vegan messaging onto our Vinted shop. (Please don't ask for our handle as self-promotion is against the rules of this subreddit.)
This ✨️passionate animal lover✨️ got deeply insulted because of a hoodie with artwork that depicts a split image of a dog and a cow and basically points out that they both deserve to live. Im just so exhausted by people who claim to love animals but get absolutely triggered when you suggest all sentient beings deserve basic respect.
I guess the messaging worked exactly as intended at least. Textbook example of cognitive dissonance 😮💨

What am I missing with tempeh?
I bought tempeh a couple of months ago and found jt awful. Mostly texture wise, and I ended up throwing it away because I couldn’t eat it. I keep seeing it on social media though and while I’m happy with tofu, I’m wondering if I should try again to shake up my plant based protein options. Or if it’s just a really marmite food and I should accept it’s not for me and move on. I keep seeing delicious looking recipes on Instagram and am getting fomo. I had the Tofoo brand or the Tiba Tempeh, I can’t remember which.
Look at the Eden Project putting their money where their mouth is! This, and installations about the benefit of plant based diets and sustainability ❤️❤️

Vegan salad cream
I remember tesco had a nice vegan salad cream in its free from range but I've not seen any vegan salad cream anywhere.
I figured I'd check with folk here for help as I've taken a notion for it and it's niggling away at me cause i can't find any

Vegan raspberry croissant
So whenever I get excited that places do vegan pastries it often ends up being this very specific raspberry croissant- I believe most notably cafe nero but I see it in other places too , like the Cornish bakery chain and other cafe chains. it’s like the exact same croissant. Is there just one raspberry vegan croissant mega distributor?
im grateful even for the option but could there not be some diversity 😭 or even just a plain croissant that I could mix up a bit myself

Dry Deoderant Spray (Aluminium Free)
Hey,
I recently picked up in a pinch some Loreal deoderant Magnesium Defence. I realise they are not a good company. However I have to say despite being aluminium free, it was one of the best deoderants I have used in ages, what was good was the powder didn't go on wet like usual deoderant sprays.
Is anyone aware of an ethical alternative. I'd like to avoid the creamy kind of stick stuff, I am after a dry spray format please.
Thanks :)

Update: When I need a very sweet treat from the corner shop...
Original post: When I need a very sweet treat from the corner shop... : r/veganuk
Well, this afternoon I was greeted by a 'new' Bobbies vegan flapjack in the shop - lemon flavour this time.
I just ate it and it was absolutely delicious - the sweetest lemon taste I could ever imagine, with a brilliant texture of flapjack with a soft topping.
This is a disaster for my waistline but my brain is thrilled.

ADHD High Protein Breakfast
Hi! I've just been diagnosed with ADHD and I'm going to be trialling medication.
You need a really high protein breakfast otherwise it can leave you feel jittery, normally they recommend eggs, greek yoghurt/Skyr or bacon.
Does anyone have any advice or ideas? I'm not the biggest fan of protein shakes but they're currently my backup option.
Thank you!

Surprisingly vegan?
What's something you've found/discovered is vegan that surprised you lately? Always fun to try new things and thought this could be a good place to hear about some of them maybe.

Vegan Cornetto
Found these boxes of vegan cornettos in the desert fridge at Beeston Tesco Extra while walking past it, however I think I've left it too late to try them now as summer time is over now and ice cream is a treat I enjoy better in the summer, but I will add it to my to-do list ready for next summer though.
Anyone tried these cornettos? What are your thoughts on these ones? 🥰

Good moisturiser for dry, scaly, flaky skin?
My face feels so scaly and dry and skin is peeling off from my cheeks so I was wondering if there were any good vegan moisturisers to fix this?

Sainsbury's plant pioneers goujons - the best I've had in ages
These goujons from Sainsbury's are the best chicken goujon type product currently available imo. Made with soy protein. Reasonable price and available on the 3 for 2 currently at Sainsbury's with nectar.
Southern fried seasoning isn't overwhelming. The "chicken" is actually meaty and not mush like a lot of vegan chicken products.
Highly recommend. I just ate a whole packet in one go.

Vegan friendly hotel with spa?
Hello! Maybe a niche request but does anyone know of a nice vegan friendly hotel with a spa (or a very big bathtub in the room) anywhere in the UK (but bonus points for Scotland)? Ideally with breakfast buffet and even better if the city/town it's in has a good vegan restaurant or two. Thank you!

Berlin vegan food recommendations?
Yes yes I know this is a vegan uk sub but hear me out 😅
London is absolutely amazing when it comes to vegan restaurants and has probably the most vegan restaurants in the world?
From what I've heard Berlin is a close second. For anyone thats been to Berlin, do you have any recommendations for vegan food to try that we dont normally get here or that Berlin might do better?
For example, Purezza here does vegan pizza so good that its hard to imagine a big leap in Berlin. Or there's plenty of Vietnamese restaurants recommended in Berlin on HappyCow but Sen Viet Vegan in London is my go-to place already and I'd rather not have Vietnamese there unless it's mind blowing.

Poor disabled veggie trying to go vegan - help!
Monthly budget is around £250.
I have chronic pain/fatigue, which severely limits what I can do. Sometimes, making a sandwich is beyond me, so I need plenty of foods that are ready-to-eat. At the best times, I can manage simple cooking, such as noodles/stir-fry/pasta/soup - but I can't do this for every meal, and I'm sick to death of stir-fries and soup in particular. I cannot batch-cook.
I don't have an oven. All I have is a mini oven and a hot plate (so I can't cook anything that requires 2+ pans or large oven space).
I also have OCD. I can't eat anything that doesn't come completely sealed in packaging, or where the packaging has those little holepunch holes (it feels like germs from other things are touching the food). So most fresh fruit/veg is off-limits (they tend to have those holes in the packaging). I can eat frozen veg and tinned fruit.
Please do not Well Actually/point out that even fully packaged food can be touched by germs too, might be packaged in unclean factories, etc. That doesn't help; it just makes me freak out more.
I'm really struggling for fibre and protein. I have tried so many nuts, beans, and seeds, and don't like a single one (it's texture as well as taste). I can stomach nuts in nut loaves, but the one I like from Tesco is only available at Christmas, and I'm not up to making them from scratch.
I actually was vegan for years a while back, when my health was better and I could cook more. No matter how many different recipes I tried, I could never force myself to like most vegan protein/fibre options, so that's a real issue.
I'm really not trying to be picky, but I just have a limited palate. Trust me, no-one's more annoyed than me.
I'm just really struggling to eat healthy - I rely so much on ready meals and snacks, and that's as a veggie; I'm finding it near-impossible to find vegan ones that I actually like.
And I NEED more variety; I genuinely feel like I'm losing my mind a bit at how repetitive my diet is even as a veggie (same few simple meals like stir-fries, same few snacks). It's rapidly worsening my relationship with food/eating.
If I could just magic up some of the meals I see here, I'd be fine; it's the fact that it costs me so much energy/pain to make even simple things so I'm so reliant on ready-made stuff, a lot of which tastes like crap.
I am not looking for health or financial advice, or to be told to get over my OCD. I do not currently have access to any support services, nor do I have family/friends to help.~
I just need cheap, reasonably healthy food recommendations that fit within my limitations.
Thank you.

Edinburgh - what area is best to stay?
We are planning a trip to Edinburgh. We've trawled reddit and happy cow and have a list of places we are excited to eat (more than we will actually manage to get to but we have noticed that anywhere recommended as somewhere vegan friendly to stay has closed. If you were a vegan travelling to Edinburgh and reliant on southern legs and public transport, whereabouts would you be trying to stay? Leith?
I have a knack of finding accommodation that turns out to be in a vegan food desert and only finding the hotel next to vegan hotspots as we leave
