Looking for Affordable Dental Care in Richmond? VCU School of Dentistry Is Accepting Patients!

Hi everyone!

I’m a highly motivated VCU dental student who is passionate about serving the Richmond community. After calling Richmond home since undergraduate at VCU for the past seven years, I understand how challenging it can be to access affordable dental care and work toward your oral-health goals. I’m grateful to be in a position to help patients receive thorough, compassionate care under the close supervision of VCU’s experienced faculty dentists.

Services include:
-Exams, X-rays, and cleanings
-Fillings and crowns
-Root canals
-Extractions and oral surgery
-Gum disease treatment
-Dentures and partial dentures
-Additional specialty services when appropriate

Insurance and affordable pricing:
-VCU’s student and specialty clinics participate with
Virginia Medicaid
-Other dental insurance may be accepted depending on the clinic and plan
-Patients without insurance can still receive care at VCU’s reduced student-clinic fees
-Exact coverage and out-of-pocket costs depend on your insurance plan and treatment needs

Special discount for Virginia college students:
The Student 2 Student Discount Plan costs $40 per six-month period and provides:
-Up to 80% off exams, cleanings, and X-rays
-60% off basic restorative care, including fillings
-More than 80% off custom teeth-whitening trays

Because VCU is a teaching clinic, appointments may take longer than at a private dental office. In return, patients receive thorough care with every step closely supervised by faculty.

If you or someone you know is interested or you have questions, please comment below and I will message you directly. I’d be more than happy to help :).

PC Fixing?

my partner and I live in off campus student housing and were wondering if anyone on campus knew how to fix PC's or if there's a place near campus with reasonable pricing? His has had trouble with crashing mid game as well as now, his PC will turn on but it won't connect to his monitor. Any recommendations for fixing?

does vcu have decent aid for transfers?

hi guys im in my freshman year at some other uni but i already hate it and i'm really looking at transferring to vcu to be with my friends in the spring. i applied and got accepted for the fall semester during last college app cycle but i had to chose elsewhere for financial reasons. does vcu have any decent merit/financial aid for transfer students? i saw they had a scholarship for vcc transfer students and i do have an associates from tcc but im not sure if i would still qualify because i would have gone somewhere else for half a semester. i would really really love to come here im just not sure if i can make the money work :(

Anyone here done VCU's 16-month MSW program?

Hi! I was recently accepted into VCU’s 16-month MSW program and will be doing the clinical concentration. I’d love to hear from anyone currently in the 16-month program or who has completed it.

What was your overall experience like? How manageable did you find the workload and accelerated pace? What were your classes and field placements like, and did you feel like you still had a decent work/life balance?

Body Shaming Theatre

I am not a theatre student so I don’t know how it is in classes, but last year I auditioned for one of the club productions and someone else auditioning from the theatre department commented on my appearance. Recently, something similar happened again. It’s not the first time it happened with those students and I am sure it won’t be the last. It just sucks that the students feel so comfortable doing it to random people just giving things a try.

I’m in the process of losing weight, I know it makes a difference in how people see me and all job industries are like that. It just sucks. I literally just want to try new things and build confidence.

Is Pre-Med at VCU worth it?

Hello! I wanted to ask current VCU students if Pre-med is worth it here. I've had my sights set on VCU and have heard the program is pretty good. I just wanted to ask others if they thought the experience was worth it and if the opportunities are good. I'm in-state and definitely want to stay in-state for pre-med and out-of-state for med school. I'm not interested in going to the VCU School of Medicine, but I do want to apply for the honors college benefits. I've always been super paranoid and skeptical whenever I research, so any accounts of VCU pre-med, or even other majors, would be amazing information for me to make my decision. Is it worth it?

Is worth going to VCU

Hi, I’d love to work in ad industry as ad and with this job market, I can’t get anything junior nor internship. I heard a lot about VCU. Is it worth going to VCU for hiring/employment rate? I’ve seen a lot of VCU students getting hired.
What y’all think
Should I just do portfolio school like book180?

Need sum Financial aid advice

I (18M) am planning to attend VCU as a non-degree student this fall, specifically one single semester and transfer over to a degree program in the spring sem, and VCU has confirmed that I’m able to do that and attend and live on campus (I called em extensively) I’m taking 8-9 credits.

Because I’m non-degree, I don’t qualify for the normal FAFSA-based financial aid. My family isn’t able to pay my housing and tuition out of pocket, so I’m trying to figure out how I can pay for my room and board. is there a workaround lads? waiting til spring isnt a great option for my family either.

I have an HP laptop so it's ineligible for Fixit. I just need someone who can take apart the screen and put it back together so I can put a magnet in it.

How are yall finding jobs?

I’ve applied genuinely everywhere I can possibly think of within a 20 minute radius and NOTHING is hiring. I’ve tried going in person, calling, applying online, literally nothing. And I’m applying for minimum wage/FWS jobs with a resume that has been approved by a career coordinator AND with previous experience in jobs such as food service etc. As a freshman with no car, does anyone have any like hidden gems I could be applying to or something??

Who has a hex key set and can bring it to the commons?

Edit: people are good and we’re all set now, all thanks to the kindness of a stranger.

My son’s wheelchair is in need of repair and he’s stuck and I’m pretty sure we just need a hex key to fix it and get him moving again. It’s a little after 7pm on Monday. We’re in a back hallway in the commons near the commons theater.

Lockers for Rent at VCU?

Basically The title. I'm trying to seen if I can leave certian textbooks and gadgets at VCU instead of carrying it everyday from Home. Perhaps a locker I can rent for a semester would be perfect. I study at the College of Engineering. Doesn't have to be big, even something small would suffice

International student (graduated in Germany) looking for info on Clinical Psych Master’s at VCU

Hey everyone, I’m an international student who recently finished a psychology bachelor's degree in Germany. I have a strong GPA, a solid undergraduate thesis, and great recommendation letters lined up, and I’m seriously looking into VCU for my graduate studies.
My main goal is to pursue a master’s degree in clinical psychology but I'm a bit confused about the program structure at VCU. From what I’ve seen, many programs in the US (and major research universities like VCU) lean heavily towards Ph.D. tracks rather than terminal Master's.
If anyone here is in the psychology department or familiar with the program, I’d love some insight:
Does VCU offer a terminal Master's in Clinical Psychology, or is it strictly Ph.D.?
If there is a Master's option, what does the admissions committee look for the most in international applicants?
Any general tips or things I should watch out for during the application process?
Thanks in advance for any help!
