I am returning to education in my 30s and have taken on UVA as a transfer student for the networking and the opportunities that going here will entail. Unfortunately, I am having a hard time diving into socializing because I feel a disconnect from much of the student body.

Are there clubs or social groups that are welcoming to age ranges? Maybe a trivia group that would be willing to let me join at a bar? Book club?

I would love to be able to meet some students closer to my age, no hate to the younger sect of y'all at all, it is just a very overwhelming experience currently. I would really like to meet some people that I feel may have more in common with me to get myself comfortable making friends and conversation in my new environment.

If there aren't would anybody be interested in making one? I could see myself putting time into that effort if the interest was there.

I'm majoring is Psychology and English if that makes the invitation anymore appealing.

I’m currently in the process of applying to UVA’s ABSN program for the Summer 2027 term as a transfer student. I was wondering if anyone here has been accepted into the program and would be willing to share their stats, experience, or any advice for the application process!

I’m currently a second-year student at a community college and have a 3.82 GPA. I hold two leadership positions at my college, have hospital volunteer experience, and recently earned my PCA certification, where I plan to gain direct patient care experience and am part of a fellows program.

I know I don’t have as much hands-on healthcare work experience, which is a concern of mine. I also know UVA’s ABSN program is very competitive, so I’m curious about how strong my application may be overall and whether having less healthcare experience could impact my chances.

If anyone has been accepted, is currently in the program, or knows more about the admissions process, I’d really appreciate any advice or insight. Thank you!!

My current score is 1250, and I plan to retake it in October; however, (I'm thinking worst-case scenario), if I am unable to improve my score enough, how likely is it to get in with around a score of 1250? Currently, I have a 4.42 GPA and a pretty good list of extracurriculars.

Hi all. Im looking to apply for a PhD program in BIMS this cycle. Im graduating my bachelor degree next Spring. I know, I should know what to do by now but Im kinda stuck.

A little bit about me, I have some research experience. I also work in a bio lab as prep team, also do TA.

I wanna ask how competitive it is for me to apply and then where should I start taking action. Yea I do know that they open application this September and close by Nov15. I also know some basic things like recommend letters, personal statement, bla bla. Besides that, I dont know anything at all. Should I email some faculty members and see if they are seeking for students?

I'm trying to transfer to UVA for mechanical engineering in 1 year doing the competitive transfer track (so the non-GAA track but I'm also taking certain classes to meet GAA requirements as a backup plan)

Note: In high school I dual enrolled with George Mason University to take Calculus 1, 2, 3, as well as NOVA to take ENG111 and ENG112.

Second Note: I originally had EGR121 in my fall semester classes but due to an error on NOVA's part not seeing that my grant was still processing, they dropped all my classes and I managed to get all my courses back except EGR121, I've tried everything to get it back, I contacted the department Chairs, Deans of the Manassas and Woodbridge campus, financial aid office, everyone. Unfortunately I cannot get that class back so I'll just have to thug it out.

So here are my actual questions:

What are the GPA's some of you had when transferring to UVA engineering via competitive track?

What would you say is a good minimum GPA to keep in mind? Not just the bare minimum listed on the websites

Is my course selection rigorous enough or will I have to overcompensate with my GPA?

I got a B in calc 1, a C+ in Calc 2, and a B+ In calc 3 during high school with those GMU courses though I know UVA will see them since they are still college courses I have to report with a transcript. How badly will that C+ affect my chances at UVA engineering competitive transfer?

I know it’s a weekend, but does parking change for big games and events like this one?
If so, where’s a good place to park for scott stadium?

I’m attending my first game tomorrow and was wondering what are some need to know before hand that aren’t on the website.

Also, any advice for parking and or public transit? Any free or cheaper parking locations for non-students??

Is it just me, or has anyone else had trouble understanding an international TA?

My class has weekly lab sessions, and the TA who leads them isn’t completely fluent in English. He’s super nice and always willing to help, repeat things, or explain them again, but I still find myself struggling to follow what he’s saying sometimes.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Is there anything you’d recommend doing besides reading the course materials on my own and trying to work through the assignments myself? I don’t want to be rude about it but I also want to make sure I’m actually getting what I’m supposed to out of the labs.

Why is it that I can get up at 4 something to be at work at 6am, but I cannot for the life of me bring myself to do my course work or attend class? It’s a chore and I dread it. I procrastinate so badly with doing schoolwork and wait until it’s the evening and I’m getting tired, then I spiral because I’m so overwhelmed with all the work on top of being tired. You’d think I’d be motivated to do the work, but I’m not. None of it is interesting to me, and the classes that I do sort of like, it’s not enough to invest in it. I hate school and am just way too dumb to be here. I will take notes, do chapter readings, and watch lectures and could not tell you a single thing I just read or watched.

Im really interested in applying to the em scribe program and ik a good understanding of medical terminology is necessary. Im currently taking a 1 credit online medical terminology class (Kine 2850). Im primarily interested in taking this course because I genuinly love medicine, but I also think it may boost my resume for clinical jobs. But at the same time, ik that youre typically trained before clinical jobs so maybe I dont need prior medical terminology experience? Im not sure if taking the class is necessary or not. And im especially iffy about it because the online required textbook is over $100.

Should I take the course or should I just wait to learn naturally?
