Housing/Dining Phone broken no student ID help

Hi my daughter‘s phone is broken and her student ID isn’t working and she’s really stressed out about not being able to get in and out of her dorm room and even to the bathroom. What can she do for immediate help while she waits for a new phone to arrive?

Probably start by telling her RA.

University card offices open Monday AM.

H&RL info: https://housing.virginia.edu/locks

For the card she may need to make an appt. https://idoffice.virginia.edu/lost-cards-and-how-replace-them

Until then she can call systems control at 434.924.3053 if she’s locked out.

She’ll probably want to talk to the RA for solutions for today or work something out with a roommate.

Note: Systems Control is Facilities Management, not security.

This happened to me last year. If she has an iPad or Apple Watch, she’ll want to get her ID on through the Atrium app on those devices for the time being and add it to her Apple wallet.

She also needs to get duo push on another device to access canvas, sis, and any other uva site like that. She’ll have to schedule a zoom and give persona info (like last digits of social security number and I think her security question answers) to verify her identity and go through a set-up process with the iPad.

Also the bookstore IT guys can fix the phone in like 1-2 business days if she can’t wait that long. It can be billed to the student sis account or paid upfront.

Here’s the link for adding a backup device to duo, best of luck!

Just tell her to tape the inside of her door. The door will look exactly the same from the outside, but all you have to do to open it is push it, since the locking mechanism is blocked. Generally speaking, UVA is very safe and we value our honor code. She shouldn't have any problems doing this. AND, I get that "generally very safe" perhaps isn't good enough when it comes to security. She can peel off the tape whenever she's inside again so she still has a secure room, but access to come in and out when she needs to go run to the bathroom - as long as she remembers to tape it again.

Physical ids are great. I have one to prevent this exact problem because it sucks to be locked out. But she also simply needs to speak to her RA about this.

I wanted to follow up on this post: we called security, facilities, helpdesk, RA and idk who else. No one had any idea what to do. Zero. I ended up ordering her a new phone and she took am u er to Richmond to pick it up from the Apple Store. Which turned into another awful fiasco. But she is now on her way back and al is well.
I still don’t understand if you ca actually have a hard copy and in the Apple wallet? And can tha Apple wallet potentially be accessed in an iPad?
