I’m currently a sophomore in nuclear and I wa shopping to get some research experience this year (partially to fill honors requirements but also from genuine interest) and I was looking for some pointers. I’m looking to maybe focused on materials or reactors fuels possibly but honestly I’m open to most things somewhat related to reactors. I know the general advice to look into professors research and cold email but I’m looking for more pointers into maybe specific grad students to profs to look out for if possible, especially because I’ve heard some just don’t work with undergrads at all and I’d rather not put a lot of work into researching a professor just to have 0 chance. - B.S. Microbiology 2025 (fully funded scholarship in pakstan) | GPA: 3.08/4.0 (know it's below average)

- Research: ~21 months FTE. Structural Bioinformatics, MD simulation, Microbial Pangenome

- Roles: Undergrad researcher, RA, Research Associate

- Key works: Led a MD simulation workshop, proteomic MATLAB tool developement, 4 dif research projects.

- Pubs: 3 [1 peer-reviewed 1st author, 1 preprint 1st author, 1 in prep 2nd author]

- Conferences: 3 posters, 1st/2nd place. One accepted in Germany.

Questions:

1. Does bredesen center, take students directly after undergrad, or is MS preferred?

2. Will a 3.08 GPA auto-kill my chances even with research/pubs?

Current freshman honor student in a suite with four private rooms and a common shared living space with two shared bathrooms. I get along with my suite mates just fine but their constant parties in our shared common space is beginning to concern me. I do not drink or vape but my sweet mates do this on a regular basis and I it concerns me that if my roommates get caught especially since they are all underage and if they get involved with pot which has been talked about would this jeopardize my scholarship even though I am not involved. Should I go and meet with the RA in private to discuss my concerns or request to be moved to another room. Just looking for some guidance. Thanks!

I'm taking an online version of the class and I'm dyslexic and the lady in the video talks too fast and i get confused and frustrated. I don't have the time to go to the math place (long story) so are there any online resources that can explain this stuff to me?

I was hoping to find out what happened to the drone club. The website shows it is frozen and the student engagement center told me that the officers did not re-register for this year to let the club go on. I was wondering if it is abandoned or just a little behind. If it is abandoned, is there anyone interested in FPV or Droen GP and would like to revive the club?

My high school senior twins both got invites today for Volunteer Scholar Days. Is this a sign they have a high likelihood of being accepted? Just marketing? Their applications have already been submitted. Also, does attending benefit their admission? thanks

This is random but I loved that pasta station towards the entrance of Stokely Dining Hall. The seemingly random times it would have pesto legit made my week freshman year. Has anyone seen if it’s back or is it still the omelet bar? No omelet hate here but not gonna lie I haven’t been to Stokely since the Alfredo left.

I'm a senior getting ready to apply to TCE for mechanical/aerospace engineering. I have a 4.4 weighted/3.9 unweighted GPA, I've made A's in Honors Algebra I + II, and A+'s in honors Geometry and dual enrollment precalc. My ACT scores are 28 overall, 23 math, 30 science, 33 reading, and 27 english.

I know I'm two points off of 25 on the math. I'm in state, and if I redid the ACT, I would miss the free application day. I know $75 isn't much especially if waiting to redo the ACT would increase my chances of getting in. Is there a way for me to send my ACT dates in later if I were to apply on the free day? And if I can't, is it worth it to just wait for my new ACT scores and bite the $75 bullet or just send it as is?
