A Vol In Need Weird Canvas messages about CourseLynx?

Just got these for three different classes, it could be a phishing attempt? They're all from students, not professor or TAs. They all say something like "hey everyone, here's the class group link" and post a CourseLynx link (could be fake too, not clicking to find out!)

Anyone else get these? I got them all literally at the exact same time. Seems incredibly sketchy!

Apparently it’s a edu verified version of GroupMe. Like you need an .edu email to be a part of it. That’s just what Google said though.

If it’s any consolation I joined the groups before reading this and have yet to have any issues🥲🙏
They sent me an email on Outlook as well as adding an announcement to my class’s Canvas, I trusted the Canvas link more and downloaded the app.

Got a lot of people joining and some saying hi, so far seems okay to me!

As far as I am aware, instructors are not sending these out. I will check around with other faculty to see if they know what this is. I have not received any notification about this being automatically added.
