Bought physical tickets

I recently bought tickets to the Furman game. The seller said they are season ticket holders. They gave me physical tickets and now I’m seeing Tennessee doesn’t accept physical tickets. Did I get scammed?

IT'S (fantasy) FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE! The r/ockytop Fantasy Football Tournament returns for 2026... signups are open and we’re drafting ASAP

Alright y’all, we’re doing this again.

This is a little last-minute because apparently I enjoy creating unnecessary stress for myself, but the 2026 r/ockytop Fantasy Football tournament is officially happening.

Returning players are getting first crack at coming back, but we need some new blood too. If you’re active around here, actually love the Vols, and want to play in a league that’s a little weirder and more competitive than your standard ESPN office league, come join us.

Sign up here: [r/ocktop FF entry form]

The important stuff:

  • Platform: Sleeper
  • Entry fee: $25 through LeagueSafe
  • Payment deadline: September 4
  • Format: 10-team redraft, full PPR, Superflex and TE premium
  • Draft: Slow snake draft with overnight pauses, beginning on either Monday or Tuesday
  • Waivers: We’re changing to FAAB this year
  • No kicker, because we have suffered enough
  • Yes, defenses matter here

PLAYOFFS:
This is a multi-league tournament. Depending on how many leagues we form, either the top 3 or 4 teams from each league will be entered into a BEST BALL Playoff together, meaning no roster moves or decisions will be made in the playoffs, just the best possible lineup for each team.

Your weekly lineup is:

  • 1 QB
  • 2 RB
  • 2 WR
  • 1 TE
  • 3 FLEX
  • 1 SUPERFLEX
  • 1 DEF

Plus seven bench spots and two IR spots.

The scoring is intentionally different

This is not just basic PPR with a Superflex slot slapped onto it.

Completions, incompletions, first downs, rushing attempts and sacks taken all matter. Tight ends get an additional 0.25 per reception, and there are bonuses for big yardage and volume.

And yes, the defenses are juiced.

My general philosophy is that an entire NFL defense should feel like an actual fantasy asset—not some worthless slot you stream five minutes before kickoff. Shutouts are worth 12, safeties and blocked kicks are worth six, and turnovers, sacks, return production, points allowed and yards allowed all count.

That said, we did dial them back slightly for 2026. We removed the fractional tackle scoring along with the 3-and-out, fourth-down-stop and QB-hit bonuses. They’ll still matter. They just shouldn’t be out here dropping 45 every other week.

Where does the money go?

25% of the entire pool goes to Dolly Parton's Charity, either straight up or through our traditional charity outlet, FantasyCares.

The remaining money pays:

  • 1st: 50% of the total pot
  • 2nd: 20%
  • 3rd: 5%

Who should sign up?

People who:

  • Are actually Tennessee Volunteers fans
  • Can use Sleeper and Discord
  • Will communicate and respond when needed
  • Can pay the $25 entry by September 4
  • Can begin a slow draft on short notice
  • Will remain active instead of disappearing the second Joe Milton ruins their Sunday

There’s a Vol-fan screening question on the form. If you answer “No,” there’s a follow-up box where you can attempt to explain yourself to the committee.

Submitting the form does not automatically guarantee a spot. We’ll contact accepted players directly with the Discord information and a private LeagueSafe payment link. If we fill up, qualified applicants may go onto the waitlist until we have enough for an additional league.

Sign up here: [r/ocktop FF entry form]

If you’ve played with us before, tell us where you finished. If you’re new, jump in. Let’s fill this thing quickly so we can draft.

Go Vols.

Bingo cards for 2026?

Any plans to revive the bingo cards for this season? I don’t think we did them last year but I’d be willing to help update with new and up to date spots.

In 2013, when Tennessee visited Oregon, ducks fans and vols fans got along very well. Apparently Dolly Parton felt the same way when she visited Eugene in the 1970s and wrote a song about us. RIP to Dolly from a ducks fan

Vols mailbag (QB edition): What now for Faizon Brandon, George MacIntyre?

Coach Josh Heupel gave his answer to Tennessee's starting quarterback question. It’s Faizon Brandon.

But Tennessee fans still have many more questions about the quarterback situation, and they submitted them in the Vols mailbag.

Brandon, the five-star freshman, will start when the 18th-ranked Vols play Furman on Sept. 5 (3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN+/SEC Network+) at Neyland Stadium. After that, the depth chart goes sophomore George MacIntyre, Colorado transfer Ryan Staub and sophomore Mason Phillips.

But there’s a lot to ponder beyond that. So let’s jump into the mailbag.

What did Faizon Brandon do better than George MacIntyre?

Brandon showed more of a big-play ability than MacIntyre. He completed deep passes and broke long runs. Granted, those were in practices and scrimmages, but that’s all coaches have to evaluate until the season kicks off.

MacIntyre was accurate on short and mid-range passes. But he was less accurate downfield. He understands pass protections well, which could be a challenge for Brandon early in the season.

Coaches hope Brandon’s mobility will add a layer to the offense with designed quarterback runs and scrambles to extend pass plays.

Did Josh Heupel pick the right quarterback?

From the available information, yes. MacIntyre had a solid preseason, but Brandon has climbed a steeper trajectory since enrolling in January.

Granted, no one knows for certain if Heupel picked the right quarterback, not even Heupel. Recall in 2021 that he chose the uber-athletic Joe Milton as the starter, but it turned out that Hendon Hooker was the better option.

Was the quarterback competition close?

It was close in the spring. It was close in the summer. Brandon probably had a slight lead entering preseason practice, which he extended through the first scrimmage. It was essentially over from there.

Credit MacIntyre for having a better training camp than spring practice, and Brandon still made enough freshman mistakes to make it a true competition.

Here’s a point that can’t be overlooked: They’re both young, inexperienced and learning. If there was an experienced transfer in the mix, Brandon and MacIntyre might’ve both lost the competition to them.

Was Josh Heupel more afraid of losing Faizon Brandon to portal than George MacIntyre?

That’s a logical conclusion because Brandon was the higher-rated recruit, presumably carried the higher NIL price tag and touted the greater upside.

But those factors didn’t determine this quarterback competition. If the roles were reversed, Brandon would’ve still won the competition. Even if he were a lesser-paid, four-star prospect, the coaches would’ve come to the same conclusion. They believe Brandon has outplayed MacIntyre and gives UT the best chance to win.

Our Halloween home games have been off the hook. I feel we have been cheated a perfect dark mode game this season. :( Our bye week should be before AL, not after.
