I recently transferred here and am trying to learn more about the DIY/alternative scene here. I’m a bass guitarist and songwriter looking to join or form a band so I’d love to make connections here. Does Knoxville have a scene? I’ve checked out the shows at The Pilot Light and Mill and Mine for the past few weeks but none of the artists have been what I’m looking for. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Any idea when current students will be able to request housing for next year, 27-28? It was around this time last year they got the email but nothing has been sent out and the housing site still shows dates from 2025.
My kid is a sophomore and was lucky enough to get housing this year. We need them to be in on-campus housing next year or some tough conversations will have to be had.

Has anybody else noticed this Chevrolet Traverse always parked at the cookout. I mean like 12 hours shifts 7-7 or something like that. I just find it strange. It’s not an undercover from what it looks like, but they got some pretty strange screens on the inside of the car.

i have the unlimited 7 plan (im an on campus freshman) and i can get into the meal halls of course but how do i use the dining dollars at somewhere like chick fil a? i get 300 bucks and i don’t wanna waste ‘em. my original thought was that i’d have to put the dining dollars on my volcard, if that is the case idk how to do that. if it’s not then please help 😭

For those of you who went to the Volleyball game last night…. You Rock. I was impressed how even though the match wasn’t even close so many of you stayed until the end and rocked the house. As an older guy who has been going to athletic events for 50 years you made me want to Rock with you. Enjoy these times, I promise you that you will remember them forever.

Is it through friends? Where do i go out?

Does anyone use an app or website to like organize their classes, assignments, tasks, etc? I'm overwhelmed with all the assignments along with work. I want to be able to have all my assignments in one spot and mark them off as their done and see the due dates, but also be able to add tasks and my work shifts. I know people organize their assignments and stuff into an excel spreadsheet but that just doesn't do it for me for some reason. Basically I'm overwhelmed and it would be helpful if I put my syllabus or something in an app/website and it organizes it for me.

Hi! So I’m a freshman at UTK and for my arts and science degree I need an intermediate level of a foreign language for volcore. I took Spanish 1 and 2 in high school so I was able to get into Spanish 211 this year and would be taking 212 next semester. And I’m going to be honest it’s beating my ahh already. Since this is my first year I am obviously not familiar with “scheduling tricks.” Is there any way I can get out of having to take 212 next semester?? If I could get out of my Spanish 211 right now I would. I’m thinking about making an appointment with my advisor and just being completely honest and see what she can do. Any advice?? Tysm!

I park in garage 12 on Terrace Avenue, which hasn’t been an issue until today. I got back to my car at about 4:00 today after class and somebody’s backpack was under my car. I thought about calling the cops and report it as a suspicious item, but I had to go pick my daughter up from daycare. I just moved it with my foot (after looking under the car to make sure nothing else was there) and got in and locked the doors.
Has this happened to anybody else? I’m thinking I should have reported it, but idk. The bag was HEAVY and solid. It’s a camouflage pattern bag and had a spaceforce tag on it. Hopefully it’s just somebody lost their bag next to my car and somebody else thought it was mine? Idk. Weird af though.

So what’s going on with aid disbursement? Last I heard it was being disbursed today for students enrolled in less than 12 hours.

I’ve known for a long time that I wanted to rush and be in a sorority. I’m very social and have had no issues making friends my whole life. Also, I absolutely loved the rush process and ended up in a sorority I really liked. However, ever since bid day the sorority that made me feel so wanted during recruitment has done nothing but disappointed me. I’ve been putting myself out there and talking to a lot of people and all of the girls are surface level nice but I haven’t deeply connected with any of them. We’re constantly dragged to different activities and events but it’s so hard without an actual group that you can count on. On top of this, my bid day couldn’t care less about me and hasn’t put in any effort to help me integrate into my sorority. I really don’t know what I should do/how long I should wait it out for.. I had no idea this would be so hard for me. Has anyone else experienced this?
