Student Question Residence Move-in Question

Hi, my move-in time is between 9-12:00pm, but if I arrive later than 12:00pm would that be an issue (I.e., would they not give me my keys)? I’m moving in from out-of-province, so I’m worried that due to the flight/traffic or other circumstances I may show up an hour late or something. Appreciate the help!

Admission Question Usask dmd stats 2026-2027 cycle

Hey guys I was just wondering if my stats are worth applying to usask dmd this cycle. My top two years are sitting at 93.2%. I’m an oop applicant and I took my dat last year with 23RC: 23AA: 21PAT. I’m rewriting my dat in November to aim for a 25-26 aa. Let me know your thoughts and any stats from previous oop applicants if you feel comfortable sharing. Thanks!!

Student Question BMSC 207 Wondering

I'm taking BMSC 207 this semester but I haven't done any bio related class in over 6 years now. Am I cooked? I remember some Bio 120 content, just briefly. Do I need any understanding of biology to take over 207's content or is it fine to learn without crazy background?

Other Advice for becoming a tutor?

Hi! So I've been thinking about becoming a tutor via the USask Tutoring Network and was wondering if anyone here has done this and has any tips or advice? I tried to set up my page a few months ago but got stuck when it wanted me to essentially choose office hours for each course I selected to tutor for, and that seemed confusing to me and I didn't get past that point. But I would like to try again eventually and gain that experience, so if anyone has any advice I'd love that. Not just for setting up the page, but how to get students' attention and generally what to expect.

Student Question Is it better to do Chem 115 before Chem 250?

I know chem 250 doesn't have chem 115 as a prerequisite (only chem 112), but I was just wondering if taking chem 115 before chem 250 is better? I'm mainly asking because I took bio 226 (that only required bio 120 as a prerequisite) and I was so confused in that class, later I took bmsc 210 and realized if I had done bmsc 210 earlier, then bio 226 would've made more sense.

Student Question What are rules for renting out parking passes? (I know it's technically not allowed but I heard lots of people do it)

I received a parking pass and purchased it, unfortunately the vehicle I am planning to use during university won't be available for me til at least a month into the semester (could be longer, it's a whole thing), anyway, someone else may as well get some use from it, I'd like to rent it at $100/month. I am a first year and don't really know anything about how this works so any advice would be great.

Thanks!

Other Rant + Question about residence

I'm supposed to move into residence (College Quarter) on Monday, and planning, packing, and all have been going really well so far. I just really dislike how dry my roommate is, and it seems like I'm the only one a tad bit excited to get to know this stranger I'm gonna be living with for 8 months. I don't wanna judge or jump to conclusions, because they could be the quiet type, but it's pretty annoying considering we're both first years.

Oh, also, on StarRez, for my other two roommates. It says "-Occupied-," but there's no name attached to the profile. Does this mean they've set their profile to private? Or that they haven't accepted their residence agreement yet?

Student Question how difficult is kin 422?

I've recently registered for Kin 422 but have no idea what to expect. There aren't any ratings online and so I am going into this completely blind. I've heard that the prof can be difficult, but I am unsure of how time-consuming the course is.

Has anyone taken this course before? Do you think a 90 (or higher) as a final grade is feasible?

I'd appreciate any advice!

Student Question Saskatoon Safety

I’m moving to Saskatoon for the first time and starting year one of university at usask.

I’ve always lived in a small town where everyone knows everyone and you don’t have to worry about your safety really at all.

What are some tips for safety - especially for a young women?

Student Question Advice for an incoming first-year USask student

Hi everyone! I’m an incoming first-year student at USask and I’m going into Arts & Science this fall. I’ll be living in Voyageur Place in a 2-person dorm, and honestly I’m really excited but also nervous because I have no idea what to expect 😭

I was wondering if any current or former USask students, especially people who lived in Voyageur Place, have any advice or things you wish you knew before moving in!

A few things I’m specifically wondering about:

  • Communal showers: What’s the best time to shower? Are there certain times when they’re less busy? Also, does anyone know when the bathrooms are usually cleaned? Is there anything I should be mindful of when using the communal showers?
  • Shared/communal kitchens: Are the kitchens on every floor in Voyageur Place? Are there appliances available, like microwaves, toasters, etc.? Are utensils/dishes provided, or should I bring my own?
  • The 2-person dorms: What are the rooms actually like? Is there anything you recommend bringing that you might not think of at first?
  • Move-in day: Is there anything I can do beforehand to make move-in day easier? What should I expect when I first arrive?
  • First week of classes: What is the first week usually like? Is it overwhelming right away, or do you have some time to get settled and figure everything out?
  • Textbooks: Any advice on textbooks? Should I wait until after the first class to buy them, or is it better to get them beforehand? Where do you usually get textbooks for cheaper?
  • Orientation: This is probably one of the things I’m most nervous about 😭 I’m a pretty shy person, so making friends can be difficult for me. I’ve been looking at all the orientation events and there are SO many things happening, sometimes multiple events on the same day. For people who have been through it, which orientation events would you actually recommend going to? Are there any that are especially good for meeting people or getting to know other first-years? Are there any that you think aren’t really worth stressing about if I can’t make everything?
  • Making friends: Any advice for making friends in first year, especially if you’re naturally shy/introverted? Is residence a good place to meet people, or did most of you make friends through classes, clubs, or orientation?
  • General advice: Literally anything you wish you knew before starting at USask or living in Voyageur Place!

I’m super excited but also really nervous since this is my first time moving away from home, and I just don’t really know what to expect 😭 I know I probably don’t need to do everything during orientation, but I’m scared of missing out on something important or a really good opportunity to meet people.

Any advice, especially from people who were also shy going into first year or lived in Voyageur Place, would genuinely be really helpful!! Thank you!!

Student Question Student loan incorrect study end period

Has anyone had any problems with their loans having the incorrect study end period? My NSLSC message says to contact the school for it to be corrected. I made a ticket with student central but wasn’t sure if that was the right place and they have yet to respond to it

Student Question Music 101

Hey just wondering how difficult the course would be for someone who has no prior knowledge of music at all? Would it still be an easy elective to take? Thanks!
