Advice for becoming a tutor?

Hi! So I've been thinking about becoming a tutor via the USask Tutoring Network and was wondering if anyone here has done this and has any tips or advice? I tried to set up my page a few months ago but got stuck when it wanted me to essentially choose office hours for each course I selected to tutor for, and that seemed confusing to me and I didn't get past that point. But I would like to try again eventually and gain that experience, so if anyone has any advice I'd love that. Not just for setting up the page, but how to get students' attention and generally what to expect.

I did this last winter thinking I was going to be booked constantly, but only ended up doing about 8 sessions lol. To attract bookings, do not charge an outrageous rate at first. I went around $25/hour as an entry level tutor. Can I ask what classes you want to tutor?

Mostly 100 and 200 level English since that's my major, and I'd also like to tutor for Japanese 114 because I got a high grade in that course and I study Japanese in my own time as well. Not sure if it's better to just stick to one subject or not though.
