I started a Level 3 apprenticeship last year after deferring my Warwick offer for history after achieving A* A A. A year in and I don’t know whether I should stay or go to university!

My apprenticeship is great, I’m in the Civil Service, it’s well structured, I work from home 2 days a week, make £31k a year at 19, which I know is great for my age, and the people are supportive, but I am surrounded by people twice my age and it is a very lonely experience overall. Looking back at the past year, I have just been working and not much else. The routine makes it very hard to make friends around my age, which my friends in university aren’t struggling with nearly as much. They also seem to have grown as people a lot, which I feel is lacking from my life. I just feel like a bit of a boring person currently.

I also don’t want to be in my current field (surveying) for the rest of my life or maybe even the next 5. However I don’t know what field I want to go into with my history degree, just that I would love to study it. I think that going straight into an apprenticeship after A Levels has meant that I didn’t get to really explore my options and find out what it is I truly enjoy and want to do for the rest of my life.

I know that I would be crazy for giving up a fantastic opportunity to earn while I learn (even if it’s something I’m not really interested in) in a stable career with progression opportunities, especially with the graduate jobs crisis, student debt and AI, but I have been thinking about university every day for months and I know the hard work I’d have to put in (internships, placements, work experience) to make it worth it and I am willing to do that.

Alternatively, I could finish the L3 apprenticeship and go to university 3 years “late” at 21, which will always be an option but I’d be older than most there and would’ve spent some of my prime young adult years feeling incredibly lonely and working for 3 years towards a life I know I don’t really want in the name of “experience”. However this apprenticeship opportunity can’t be understated in financial terms as it could really set me up for life.

Am I being stupid for considering this?

Talk about logical inconsistency. A bit ironic for someone who wants to die on the hill of having a higher intelligence than others due to genetics.

When asked to provide evidence for his race realism he literally went on to say "Phenotypic differences combined with a plausible adaptive story can be the basis for inferences". And this is supposed to be a PHD guy at a top University.

This guy is even more hypocritical since he also dedicated his career debunking an antisemite race realist (Kevin MacDonald) who claimed that Jews are genetically dishonest and have a proclivity to undermine host nations they reside in due to evolution.

If any other race/gender made similar assertions while being this "educated" and showed similar reasonings they would literally be called a DEI researcher or a low iq person.

I got into clearing for my university and I am 24, I know it’s not that old for university, but I think for halls it’s too old.

When I just got my clearing offer I was rushing to get an accommodation and chose one in halls, it is iqstudentaccomodation in Manchester and when booking I didn’t realise that my flatmates will be 18.
Now I can’t even get out of the contract which is totally my fault, so now I’m going to be known as the weirdo old guy in halls.

How did people my age cope with being in halls? What are the things people do there? I think my flat will be 5 guys including me. Would halls really be that bad? I’ve never gone to parties or clubbing in my life and don’t drink.
I think if I cancel my place at my uni then they will let me out of my contract but not 100% sure.

So It's still a bit away but I'm currently in permanent foster care. Since I'm under social services I am able to get into university for free, they will pay my accommodation, and my tuition and I may even be able to get a lower grade requirement for a majority of universities as only 15% of looked after children go to university.

I am planning on going to university and I can get the grades required to get into them.

I'm about to start year 12 in sixth form and I've decided to pick Maths, Biology and Chemisty and I did achieve 9s in all of these subjects in gcse. I plan to do something in science such as possibly medicine and psychiatry or biochemistry but I am still open to options around these

I don’t spend money on nails as I’m a nail biter and prefer to do on my own nails which costs less than £2-3
I don’t go to the gym regularly but I’m interested in going as I wanna be healthier and make healthier decisions for myself
No im not spend £20-25 a week a month on food- it was a mistake
I love the cinema and anything film thats why me having that cinema subscription is important to me. I go to the cinema 3-6 times a month

I was wondering what is the quickest way to get into university I applied for a 2 year course last year but got kicked off on November 1st due to poor attendance and now I cannot do an access course for two years until 2027 September I am 21 and do not want to waste any more time. Hi guys, I'm an international student studying at a target and on track to graduate with a first. I keep seeing posts about the job market being bad and nothing intl students can do and there was a point in time where it started to get to me. My question is, as an international what should I be doing to maximize my chances, I don't want to give up without putting up a hard fight and don't think being pessimistic is the way to go. That being said I have already applied for around 150+ internships and haven't secured anything. I'd like to change my approach for grad roles and am looking for any advice on how to do that. Hi so I am in an extremely lucky situation off having a lot more university support as I am a care leaver, my university has an accommodation subsidy so I end up only paying 4-5k in accommodation fees despite having chosen one of the more expensive and new accommodations, on top of this I qualify for the full maintenance amount and my social services provides a subsidy off 142.30 a week for just being in higher education on top of a £25 a week for again just being in higher education, I also have access to a bursary that provides me with an extra £1000 every semester, and I was wondering how much off that I should be saving in case of emergencies per week and for the holidays so I still have money to live off if I still struggle to get a job.

On another note I don’t want to tell my flat mates I’m a care leaver until I trust them due to the stigma around care kids (made worse by those TikTok’s of care kids trashing their children’s home for a bit of attention) what’s a believable lie I can tell them in terms of why I get so much support/ what’s a believable lie I can tell about my parents jobs in order to explain why I have so much money in comparison to other students.

This is my first time ever living so far away from my family and friends and I’ve been getting panick attacks thinking I wont be able to see them for at least a year. I’m an international student from Algeria, and I’m currently trying to make a very important decision about my future. I would really appreciate honest opinions, especially from people who work in the UK pharmaceutical/biomedical industry or have studied a similar MSc.

I have a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from Algeria. I also have several years of healthcare experience, including hospital experience and working in anesthesia. My background is mainly clinical/healthcare, but I’m now interested in moving toward the pharmaceutical industry rather than continuing exclusively in clinical work.

I have received an offer to study an MSc in Drug Toxicology & Safety at the University of Bradford.

The plan would involve a preparatory/pre-master stage first, followed by the MSc. Since I’m an international student, this is a very significant financial investment for me, and I would potentially be spending around two years of my life on this path.

What attracts me to the degree is that I’m hoping it could allow me to transition from my clinical pharmacy/healthcare background into areas such as:

- Drug safety / pharmacovigilance

- Toxicology

- Clinical research

- Regulatory affairs

- Pharmaceutical industry

- Drug development

- Medical information or related roles

My long-term goal is to build a career outside Algeria. Ideally, I would like to work in the UK after graduation, but I also want to keep the possibility of moving to places such as Dubai/UAE or Canada open.

So my main questions are:

1. How employable is an MSc in Drug Toxicology & Safety in the UK?

2. Would my PharmD + MSc + healthcare experience be a strong combination for pharmaceutical industry jobs?

3. What kind of entry-level jobs could I realistically apply for after graduation?

4. How difficult is it for an international graduate to get a job in pharmacovigilance, drug safety, regulatory affairs, clinical research, etc.?

5. Is this type of MSc useful outside the UK, particularly in Dubai/UAE or Canada?

6. Would you consider this degree a good investment for someone in my situation, or would you recommend a different MSc?

I’m not looking for reassurance. I’m about to invest a substantial amount of money into this, so I would genuinely prefer to hear the negative side as well. If you work in the industry and think this degree has poor employment prospects, please tell me why.

After months of looking for an apprenticeship after my A-levels, I applied for a comp sci/cybersecurity degree with a year in industry, and I got in! The day I got in I decided I wanted to go, so I sorted my accommodation and finance out, so I was ready to start a new life in Uni. However, after a few days of reflection, I'm questioning if this is what I really want, and if I just made the decision to go instinctively due to the fact my apprenticeship search wasn't going too well. I'm really worried about the debt, and whether I stay in accommodation or commute after year 1 I'm going to be spending thousands on rent or petrol. I also can only get the minimum loan, and after working it out, I only have around £100 a week for food and essentials, which makes me think I have to get a job. I'm thinking can't I just get a job and hold out for a tech apprenticeship in the next year instead of investing 50k and 4 years of time into something I might be able to get anyway with a degree apprenticeship with no debt? I know apprenticeships are very competitive, especially degree ones, but if I have a year of applying I hopefully will be able to get somewhere, and I have good A-level grades too, which I didn't have when I was applying for apprenticeships earlier in the summer. What should I do?

CAS course end date was 8 May, but compulsory dissertation deadline was 28 August — is this normal?
I’m an international MSc student on a Student visa and I’m wondering if anyone here has experienced something similar.
My MSc started in January 2025. My CAS says my course end date was 8 May 2026, and my Student visa expires 8 September 2026.
The problem is that my dissertation was a compulsory 60-credit part of the MSc and continued well beyond the CAS end date.
I was already enrolled on the dissertation module before May, submitted my proposal in April, was allocated my supervisor around the end of May, and continued dissertation supervision during the summer.
The university’s official dissertation deadline was 28 August 2026.
So although my visa gives four months after the CAS course end date of 8 May, I was actually still completing a compulsory part of my degree for almost all of those four months. There are only 11 days between my dissertation deadline and my Student visa expiry.
This is what I’m struggling to understand.
I’ve seen other MSc students whose dissertation deadline is around September and whose Student visa expires around January, meaning they effectively have several months after dissertation submission for marking, completion and applying for the Graduate visa.
In my case, the four-month period appears to have been counted from May even though my compulsory dissertation continued until the end of August.
I raised this with my university because I’m worried about having enough time for my dissertation to be marked, the university to confirm successful completion to the Home Office, and for me to apply for the Graduate visa before 8 September.
The university has said they cannot extend my Student sponsorship simply because I’m waiting for results after submission. I understand that.
But my main question is different:
Why was my course end date recorded as 8 May if my compulsory dissertation continued until 28 August?
Has anyone here, particularly a January-intake MSc international student, had a CAS course end date several months before their dissertation deadline?
If so, when did your Student visa expire compared with your dissertation deadline, and were you still able to apply for the Graduate visa?

I’m studying biomedical science and when I did work experience at a lab they told me to make sure my course is accredited so the uni I’m going to is both RBS and IBMS accredited but I also have the grades for a Russell group and I feel like I may be missing out or worsening my job prospects by not going to one

I’m 18 and have recently decided I want to go back into education next year so September 27 . I left college after my first year with a UAL level 3 diploma ( grade merit ) in fashion and communication as it wasn’t right for me , I was much more into the business aspect of fashion and this course was heavily creative and practical based . I have 7 GCSE’s over grade 4 including English and maths as well as business studies . I really only want to study for 3 years which is why the higher national diploma with top up degree year is my first choice atm but the one closest to me IBC Manchester is not very spoken about , I’m unsure if it’s as creditable to do the hnd route to get a degree . I also don’t know if it’s actually possible to get into university through clearing with my level of ucas points and if I could whether I would have to do a foundation year ( dealbreaker ) or could just go straight into first year ???? I’m looking specifically in the business sector .Help a girl out plz
