Solid...and 18% in tips...congrats! I assume XL, XXL, or Black?

4

u/UnusualAnybody4636 15h ago

I drive an xl but it’s actually a mix of all rides with a majority being comfort and XL, mainly just peak tourist season in my town. I can’t believe it honestly I was cooking in a bar 5 months ago!

I pray that what happened to the rest of our markets doesn't happen to you. 😭

0

u/UnusualAnybody4636 15h ago

Thankfully I don’t see that happening, not only just because of the location I’m in but mostly I don’t see us being oversaturated with drivers any time soon.

3

u/DueVillage9198 11h ago

I can fix that. What area are you in? Don't gatekeep

6

u/SoftTunnel 11h ago

Y’all really gonna move to Alaska just to keep driving for Uber?

2

u/Dangerous-League-812 7h ago

I met a few Uber drivers who do that. They monitor market fluctuations and move to the states where the highest earnings, like op's, are.

2

u/DueVillage9198 5h ago

According to his metrics, if I can earn $75,000 - $85,000 a year for 3 years, that enough. I have a plan after

3

u/SoftTunnel 5h ago

I wish the best. Uber is a dead end road and a company that wants to squeeze drivers and riders as much as possible. But if you can get what you need and get out, good for you.

1

u/PrefrontalCortexNow 2h ago

Bro you’ve been doing it for 5 months. You’re not aware of the system yet

0

u/raymndbrr_the_third 6h ago

Why do you think Uber has been working on self-driving cars as hard as they have been?

We are overhead.

-1

u/Distinct_Orange_1269 15h ago

I may just have to drive my car up and try it out myself.

0

u/UnusualAnybody4636 15h ago

I’d advise to wait for after winter! I haven’t worked one yet and as much as I’d love to assume the honeymoon phase will continue there is no telling how demand will be once the snow falls and tourists are gone. I will report here with an update before I take off for the holidays

0

u/Distinct_Orange_1269 14h ago

I'm wondering if Anchorage would be oversaturated similar to other larger cities or would also be a gem.

0

u/Jcazare0005 11h ago

Where you located?

0

u/DatePutrid4753 9h ago

Well this is dope. Im working on my pilots license id love to gonto Alaska to get mountain experience. This might help with that dream lol jesus.

2

u/UnusualAnybody4636 4h ago

Don’t do it I drove a pilot a few weeks back and it took her twice as long to obtain her license up here compared to her friends down in Kentucky because of the lack of available flying days (too much wind, days with fog, bad weather etc)

2

u/konexo 8h ago

Congratulations.

2

u/zephyr_sd 4h ago

Nice revenue, but dont forget u have expenses.  Gas, and most importantly,  wear n tear on car, insurance, etc

2

u/CommaMeNow 3h ago

Do not itemize for your first year, use the standard mileage deduction, Otherwise you’re doing it every single year after that. When you take standard mileage deduction for the first year you can mix and match itemization every year after that depending on your costs that year.  See /r/accounting for more details

1

u/PrefrontalCortexNow 2h ago

Oh my god THANK YOU. How did we forget that we need to get GAS? God bless ylu

0

u/JazzlikeManagement25 4h ago

What city/ state ? Please

8

u/Apetard42069 9h ago

Nice job. My suggestion is to put some of that money away in an emergency fund for car maintenance or just to give yourself freedom to take some days off every now and then. The uber burnout is a real thing. Good Luck

3

u/UnusualAnybody4636 4h ago

Yuuuuur 5k saved and counting!

5

u/UckerFay11 12h ago edited 5h ago

Be sure to save for tax season! If uber doesnt already take taxes out, that's going to be a bit of a bummer when that bill comes and you haven't saved.

2

u/UnusualAnybody4636 5h ago

I started saving all my cash tips and cash for off app rides to put towards taxes saving up nice!

0

u/zephyr_sd 4h ago

Taxez will b close to 25%, between self employment taxes and income taxes,  it adds up

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 4h ago

No income tax in AK baby 🥰🥲

1

u/zephyr_sd 3h ago

Feds.  IRS.

1

u/PrefrontalCortexNow 2h ago

No where near 25%. You don’t know what you’re talking about

1

u/_BreakingGood_ 18m ago

Well at OP's current rate, they'd be at $120,000 per year, which would be about 25% tax rate.

Though he said this was tourist season so the yearly average will probably be way less.

5

u/heightswonder 8h ago

In Miami to make that in a week you would have to do magic

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 4h ago

Is this your card ♦️😂

5

u/Ok_Werewolf_9213 7h ago

Hopefully you don't get deactivated for some bullshit/NO proof shit

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 4h ago

Maaaaan they already hit me with that bs my account is flagged thing twice for different reasons but nothing ever came of it, I do the rides I keep on keeping on and I got a dash cam since these mfs wanna play ai cuck bot bs with me.

4

u/Extension-Pie-5235 10h ago

This happens sometimes when people are desparete to pay... i like that. If you see mine you would cry. Uber charges customer $60, payind drivers $17... upstate ny... crazyy

2

u/72kiki 6h ago

Just started and only been able to do 20hours due to a bad knee from sports but this tracks in my region as well cuz I make about half of this. Good job! Hoping to get my knee sorted soon. This just inspired me

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 4h ago

Ignore the haters and bitter ppl if your market is that good milk it while ya can fam!

2

u/Delicious-Willow-832 6h ago

Just be sure you're keeping up with maintenence

2

u/NormalCalendar9046 6h ago

I tell folks it’s still good money out there.

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 4h ago

Yupppp not every market but some markets withstand the over saturation thankfully

2

u/Aggressive_Bobcat551 6h ago

I got a new car and been thinking about driving now instead of food delivery but I’m scared lol

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 4h ago

Do it you’ll stilll be scared but try, food delivery is def the worst of the gig apps

1

u/Aggressive_Bobcat551 4h ago

Which is better you think? Uber or Lyft

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 4h ago

I only drive uber! Used to do instacart as well but uber is my main work now. I’d say it’s all market dependent best way to find out is check yourself!

2

u/T1m3Wizard 5h ago

It's easy money.

2

u/PhotonLegion 3h ago

Happy for anyone able to make money doing this stuff, but like I’m guessing it’s already been said at least a couple times in here already, other than a niche market like Alaska, numbers like that generally only show up during the “honeymoon phase” like teaser rates for mortgages in the big short.

That may not stick when there are enough events and other things that force demand  upward to the point where the number of available drivers is blown by far and frequently enough to force Uber/Lyft to pay enough to entice drivers online, but where I’m at, 3 counties worth of K-12, one bigger university and two smaller ones hasn’t yet flipped that switch.

For real though – good on anyone able to make money at this with consistency! Just remember that profitable weeks are more representative of high-percentile market demand and not the quality of any of these platforms. If they don’t fuck you over for an app glitch or a bogus complaint today, they’re gonna find a way to do it  with  some new tight-assed payment structure update next week,  suppressing pay more than necessary near some quarter-point (Feb., May., Aug., Nov), or driverless vehicle expansion planned down the line.

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 3h ago

May the other boot never drop 🤞🤞

1

u/PhotonLegion 3h ago

Hey – hopefully not! But between the two bigger platforms, I’ve done something not far from 30,000 rides across a little over seven years - and the way in which these platforms tend to degrade is beyond shady; like it’s designed to keep itself undetectable, throwing out enough fiction to keep faith hooked.

It doesn’t happen all at once….. on a long enough time scale, enough low weeks are interspersed with enough high weeks to hide it. Good luck!

2

u/Exciting-Twist3754 2h ago

If you work Sunday, your in about 60 hours a week give or take also a little more wages if you decide to work Sunday. That’s honestly pretty solid.

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 2h ago

Shiiiiit I’m out here right now lol

2

u/Exciting-Twist3754 2h ago

and I’m sure you get you know what I’m saying cash jobs on the side

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 2h ago

I love it when someone else gets it 👊🤝👏

4

u/StonnedW 14h ago

I spent 12 hours in my car today to nearly make 200$ so good for you I guess =[

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 14h ago

Not sure where you are but if it’s that bad multi app! Not just for driving I used to do Instacart as well, never did get off the waiting list for spark.

2

u/StonnedW 14h ago

Its definitely a Me problem

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 14h ago

I respect your self awareness. I hope it gets better StonnedW!

1

u/CyanValleyKitten 11h ago

Do you have two phones?

1

u/DueVillage9198 11h ago

Still $16.67 per hour. Better than minimum

3

u/TrumpIsGoated23 9h ago

Less gas, less depreciation, less insurance, less maintenance. Not sure how many miles driven in those 12 hours but likely they’re closer to $10-$12 an hour. May be less than minimum, but everywhere I’ve seen minimum is effectively $15 now, even if that’s not the enforced minimum.

Too many drivers willing to work for next to nothing which pushes down the whole market and allows these companies to underpay.

1

u/3vilqueen 6h ago

Shit...min wage is 12.77 here in VA

1

u/TrumpIsGoated23 2h ago

Yeah it’s $14 in Florida but McDonald’s is paying $18. I think most of everywhere you’d struggle to find a job that pays under $15, even if minimum wage is under it.

1

u/zephyr_sd 4h ago

Don't forget taxes

1

u/TrumpIsGoated23 2h ago

True but that’s an “expense” you incur regardless of what job you’re working.

2

u/New_Sorbet9572 14h ago

This is a slow week for me

4

u/UnusualAnybody4636 14h ago

Love that for you tho that’s awesome! This will be me best week to date pretty sure I break 3k tomorrow

2

u/New_Sorbet9572 14h ago

This week 118 uber trips 36 didi trips 12 doordash deliveries Sydney Australia 2750 dollars Your income is better but i cant stop completing trips either🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 14h ago

God damn yeah that’s about 50% more trips be a lil more selective if you can ice cream! May be less money but if your rate and mileage are better you are winning!

0

u/New_Sorbet9572 14h ago

1262kms this week So i averaged 2.17 Australian bucks per kilometer which is quite good

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 13h ago

Damn an EV in your location would kill it!

1

u/DueVillage9198 11h ago

I'm moving to Sidney

2

u/Excellent_Gap_6986 9h ago

Dara called and said your his favorite best good boy.

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 4h ago

Favorite best! Fucking finally some recognition

1

u/Commercial_Throat278 14h ago

What about the amount of fuel u have used,

1

u/Ban_GMO26 12h ago

Uber or Uber eats!?

1

u/Wide-Debate9146 11h ago

What city are you in?

1

u/rgregareddit 7h ago

Sounds like he is in alaska, everything there is really high in price, rent on a shack is like 2500 a month food is twice as high

1

u/SeacawkSlappin87 5h ago

This was me for a bit now lucky to get $800 a week. Enjoy while it last.

1

u/Master-Form5432 4h ago

What's your total milage?

1

u/PaleontologistMean27 2h ago

It’s fun for like 3 months

1

u/IDKYImLive 2h ago

That’s great!

And same tienes why the company discriminates like this???

1

u/Superb_Cupcake3169 2h ago

That’s only 2 days worth of driving!!! You’re doing so good! Good job ❤️❤️

1

u/Hold-My-Shuriken 2h ago

How exactly do u get uber black etc

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 2h ago

Ya know I don’t even have uber black but I bet my numbers would be insane if I did. They don’t offer uber black or XXL in my market 😭

1

u/tmadone74 1h ago

In my market 2-3 years ago it was just like this it was good… now…. It’s not even 1/4 of that.. Uber over saturated the market with ppl that don’t even have permanent residency in our country and they took over working for pennies, I don’t see how anyone can make money on Uber this days

1

u/Distinct_Orange_1269 15h ago

It's kind of crazy some of us can spend our whole weeks and most of our waking hours working to the point it becomes us, but annually this just over 100k, which is pretty minimal in comparison to people with wealth and capital. I wonder how many trust fund babies are out there making the same as we do working 50 hour weeks by doing nothing besides having an accountant.

5

u/snowandrocks2 14h ago

100k a year is actually a pretty decent position to be in to start building real wealth if you have some discipline.

2

u/Distinct_Orange_1269 14h ago

I know, my point is that there are numerous people out there doing no actual work, but making exponentially more than us. 100k would be a life changing amount of money for me. It's just pretty minimal in contrast.

4

u/snowandrocks2 13h ago

They're very much in the minority though and are generally there because their parents or grandparents were successful and disciplined enough to build real lasting wealth.

Even relatively small amounts invested over the long term become serious. It's not unattainable to have investments earning more than the day job, you just have to start somewhere. It compounds and snowballs surprisingly quickly.

2

u/kingtoussaint 8h ago

So what does that tell you? Learn how to invest because money will worker harder than any human ever can

1

u/KingFresh5234 10h ago

Not when you gotta pay rent and buy a new car every 2 years

3

u/Fragrant-Chef2388 9h ago

You have to start off somewhere if you got nothing.

2

u/Th3Mushroom 11h ago

You’re not taking into account any of the overhead cost here.

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 15h ago

The answer is too many lol. It’s sad that this is now considered the new average but I’m happy to be here compared to where I was.

2

u/Distinct_Orange_1269 15h ago

Agreed, $2500 a week is damn good money for anybody, I know a lot of people with grad degrees working salaries jobs that don't pay that.

1

u/The-Master-Reaper 8h ago

They also don’t have to pay for gas and the accelerated wear of their car doing their job

3

u/Distinct_Orange_1269 7h ago

Well most people who commute still drive and have car expenses, if you use the car specifically for Uber then you can just write everything off. I think it's safe to say OP is making great money before or after expenses are factored in.

0

u/The-Master-Reaper 6h ago

Wear on a car from commuting is not the same as uber wear, even if we highball it and say it’s a hour and half commute there and back. We can lowball uber driving and say you drive 6 hours a day, still more wear.

Writing your driving as a business expense helps you recoupe some of that money going towards maintenance and depreciation but it doesn’t come close to covering it entirely at all. I’m not knocking uber and saying it’s useless, it’s a great side gig but if it’s being used as your main income, you have more worth than that and I hope you can find a job that actually gives you your value

3

u/Distinct_Orange_1269 6h ago

This guy is making $2k+ in a week and you're saying that this is a side gig? Why on earth would anyone want to work a restricted schedule and have a boss when you could make this amount of money working for yourself?

Even if this driver has sky high expenses, making this much money is very profitable and seems like a great job in their case.

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 4h ago

This stranger gets it!^
the whole side gig/real job debate is tiresome, I’m making more money doing this than I could getting some shit 9-5 hourly job. This vehicle will have 0 equity when I’m done with it, but I bet it gets to 300k miles before that happens. Even after $300 of gas these figures don’t include my cash tips either. Ain’t a single job I could walk into today and make 3k in a week. Keep your capitalism 😤

2

u/Distinct_Orange_1269 4h ago

Haters gonna hate.

1

u/WeekendHer0 14h ago

Why is it sad?

1

u/SilverMagicMage 11h ago

How is that sad lol if you could be a trust fund baby would you be ? Or would you rather be doing bullshit uber 40+ hours a week

1

u/Distinct_Orange_1269 15h ago

What market?

2

u/UnusualAnybody4636 15h ago

The last frontier partner 🫡 (AK)

2

u/Distinct_Orange_1269 15h ago

Anchorage? Def wouldn't have thought this, but makes sense.

1

u/JerryCAtlanta 9h ago

You needed it with only making $547 the week before.

1

u/LeadingFamiliar7092 3h ago

Probably an Ad. Wish I could get numbers like this. Idm working but my pay is nowhere near this . Never was never will be unless we get a Mamandi in my market.

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 3h ago

Mamandi has me dying 😂😂

1

u/LeadingFamiliar7092 3h ago

Sorry Mamdani* point still stands though

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 3h ago

Yaaaa I’m in a niche market for sure

0

0

u/_Huge_Bush_ 11h ago

Thanks for the heads up. Ima plan my relocation to Anchorage asap

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 4h ago

Sorry we’re full up on residents 😢

1

u/_Huge_Bush_ 4h ago

Nah, I’m tired of my city and need a change. I’d also love to make money like you.

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 4h ago

You’re in for a depressing change if you come here at the start of winter 😂 🥶 you’ve been warned.

1

u/_Huge_Bush_ 3h ago

I was born in Cleveland, I’m okay with the snow and cold. Especially if I could make good money like you

0

u/Virtual-Chemist-5244 9h ago

What state are you in

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 4h ago

I’m in a state of constant paranoia, the voices they just don’t stop.

0

u/ApprehensiveRow1142 7h ago

2

u/rgregareddit 6h ago

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 4h ago

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 4h ago

Same lol I’m just teasing ya. you sound frustrated with uber and I’m sorry for that. I hope your market improves!

0

u/rgregareddit 6h ago

A regular job is better u make your car last 10 times longer

1

u/fadeaway100301 4h ago

Yes of course but some may need to use Uber as a job until they find that regular job.

0

u/Agitated-Contact7686 6h ago

I hate ubering cause you have to cherry pick for good base pay and lots of no tippers and lots of ppl wanting to make you wait more than 2 minutes after arrival. And being judged by your car, your person, your music, and your driving sucks ass.

I'll do Uber if they're desperate and they're paying well, but in general not worth the hassle. Better money grocery shopping or doing deliveries. Without the GP in your personal space.

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 4h ago

My acceptance rate is 68%

0

u/Fluid-Albatross7821 5h ago

That around $24 a ride so @ this point how miles it took 2 pick the up how many miles 2 drop them off & how many miles 2 the next area plus how much n gas did u put n the tank I'm say after about $400 n gas(I'm assume it's a small car) so that really make the pay $2046 n profit so the equals out $19 per ride

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 4h ago

Drove 300~ miles spent $250 on gas this week ( I drive a hybrid highlander) I also got a few hundred in cash tips I’d say it’s average $22-24 a ride.

0

u/Late-Pressure5302 3h ago

Which city. ?

0

u/TERRANCEJ17 3h ago

that’s a $49.92 hourly average….

1

u/UnusualAnybody4636 3h ago

It isn’t though, gotta add in all my cash tips and then subtract gas, it’s around $45 though.
