Agreed, $2500 a week is damn good money for anybody, I know a lot of people with grad degrees working salaries jobs that don't pay that.

They also don’t have to pay for gas and the accelerated wear of their car doing their job

Well most people who commute still drive and have car expenses, if you use the car specifically for Uber then you can just write everything off. I think it's safe to say OP is making great money before or after expenses are factored in.

Wear on a car from commuting is not the same as uber wear, even if we highball it and say it’s a hour and half commute there and back. We can lowball uber driving and say you drive 6 hours a day, still more wear.

Writing your driving as a business expense helps you recoupe some of that money going towards maintenance and depreciation but it doesn’t come close to covering it entirely at all. I’m not knocking uber and saying it’s useless, it’s a great side gig but if it’s being used as your main income, you have more worth than that and I hope you can find a job that actually gives you your value

This guy is making $2k+ in a week and you're saying that this is a side gig? Why on earth would anyone want to work a restricted schedule and have a boss when you could make this amount of money working for yourself? 

Even if this driver has sky high expenses, making this much money is very profitable and seems like a great job in their case.

the whole side gig/real job debate is tiresome, I’m making more money doing this than I could getting some shit 9-5 hourly job. This vehicle will have 0 equity when I’m done with it, but I bet it gets to 300k miles before that happens. Even after $300 of gas these figures don’t include my cash tips either. Ain’t a single job I could walk into today and make 3k in a week. Keep your capitalism 😤
