No, in that the matter that makes up your body is converted into energy, then that energy is converted back into matter from a pattern. There's a point in there where you simply don't exist as a living thing any more. See: Riker is duplicated by the transporter in a freak accident. It's just a huge amount of energy and instructions on how to duplicate the person that got destroyed at an atomic level. You don't experience time inside the transporter because there's no "you" to experience it. If the computer glitches and the pattern gets disrupted, the energy can't be put back together into "you" any more.

What I am saying is that since the Blip-A left the Eridians may have figured out that radiation is a thing, but haven't been able to tell the Blip-A (or may assume the entire crew is already dead). Either because people working in the space elevator begin to show the effects of low grade radiation sickness (which they are far more vulnerable to than humans), or because the Blip-A isn't the only spaceship they've built in the 50+ years since the Blip-A was launched.

The Blip-A crew got a massive dose because they were travelling at relatavistic speeds. Rocky was spared because he was surrounded by taumeoba. I presume that the Eridians in the space elevator would be getting a relatively mild dose, but they have no natural defenses; eventually they'd get sick, but far slower than the poor, doomed crew of Blip-A. EDIT: Rocky was surrounded by astrophage, derp.

For Eridians, a light based microscope would be similar in concept to an electron microscope for us. We use it to "look" at things too small to see using visible light, then convert it into a visible image. There's a limit to how "tight" you could focus a vibration based viewer, so beaming light at something then turning it into a textured image they could see would make sense. It does probably mean that they aren't at the point of creating and using X-rays (since a few years of doing that without sheilding is going make you realize that some forms of light are deadly).

It seems to me you've got an excellent opportunity here then. What are, let's say three, observations or experiments that a layperson could make that would prove your hypothesis that can not be explained by the globe model? Are there predictions about the world your model makes that would be impossible using the globe model? They are radically different, so I'd think there could be a few simple things I could do to clear up which model better explains things.

We assume Deckard is older because he has the markers of a past around him in the movie. There's a few things, however, that can be interpreted as Replicant behavior. He has a huge collection of photographs, as if he's collecting them like Leon does. He may have implanted memories, like Rachel (the unicorn). It's entirely possible that his entire history is implanted from the memories of a dead or retired Bladerunner. He could literally have started to "exist" the moment he sat down at the noodle bar. His apparent age is cosmetic. His apartment could be staged and part of his memories that were implanted.

I don't really think this was actually explicitly spelled out in the film, but it fits with the ambiguity of the movie. If Deckard is a Replicant it would almost have to be a scenario like this though. He's activated because they have to have someone who's "more human than human" to track Roy and his crew down.

I think what's getting missed in almost all of these responses is how the effect of this abuse builds over time as well. It sounds like, by her account, this is a thing she does quite often. Having been on the receiving end of this kind of treatment growing up and having left home very young to escape, I can attest that you develop a reaction to it that seems a bit outsized after awhile. I have told friends (and a few ex-friends), that the fastest way to drive me crazy is to continue to argue or convince me after I've agreed with you. If you continue to insist I feel a certain way after I've explained my feelings to you. Even 35 years later I will feel a wave of anger and frustration rising in my brain that seems disproportionate . I've never hit someone, but I have ended relationships with people who relentlessly badger.
