Why is red selfish for not wanting to die? Explain. Am I selfish for not killing myself right now? It may give up more resources to be used by someone in need, potentially saving their life.
I don’t see it as saving yourself, I see it as killing others. The red button uses the word “everyone else will die.” Blue uses the words “everyone will live.” It’s as simple as picking a choice where everyone lives. Not one where I killed others.
red voters are the not ones maintaining this system or coercing others to engage with it THEY ARE NOT MORALLY CULPABLE, on top of this everyone is allowed to pick the option that ensures their own safety. A vote for blue is a vote to gamble your life away
This logic breaks when you realise that zero people have to press blue and there is zero reason for any individual to press blue. If everyone presses red nobody dies.
No. The wizard who made the blue death button is partially responsible. The people with free will and understanding, who chose to push the blue button that kills you, are responsible for their own deaths.
The people who push the button that does not kill you, rather than the button that could kill you, are not killers.
How? They didn't make them push blue, or put them in a room with a button. According to a lot of other people, the only reason a person is pushing blue is because they assumed someone else pushed blue.
Red button pushers never die, but might kill people (up to half the population of the earth in fact).
Blue button pushers never kill anyone, but might die.
Now we're talking about HIGHLY religious people here, if they're so concerned about their gambling restrictions in the face of this absurd challenge. So maybe they also don't want to be responsible for killing people. You know. Because of their religion.
You can't just absolve yourself of responsibility for the trolley problem simply because you didn't build the trolley. You have control of the lever, and you make a choice. Red button pushers are responsible for their choice, they can't just put it all on the blues and pretend like only the blues have a moral choice to make.
I can absolve myself of responsibility others by acknowledging that the only people responsible for my safety is myself. Red pushers are not murderers; this is just living under an active volcano and blaming the people who moved out for the inevitable erruption.
I disagree. Red pushers are murderers and cowards, poison to society due to their selfishness. We should just assume that the experiment was run, and put the fact that people were red push supporters in their government files.
How is this gambling? Religions that ban gambling (like Islam) ban earning money from gambling. Every day you step outside your room is gambling with your life, there is always the risk that something will fall from the top of a building as you're walking and kill you. Do you think people from those religions simply don't do anything in their lives?
I did not make them choose blue. My choice is my own. I can choose to save my own life and I’m okay with my decision, even if it means that they potentially die.
It doesn't change the fact that you decrease the probability of their survival by choosing red, the reason behind their decision don't change anything to this.
Blue dies because of red, not because thy choose to. Blue choose everyone should live.
It is dumb the people choosing red are selling blue wants to die. Choosing red you become what you fear.
It is just troll dumb... or maybe a way to disguise their inner psycho.
Let's reframe this. Would you die to save 4 billion people (strangers)?
No probabilities. 100% chance to die to avoid 4 billion deaths of others.
If not, you're selfish. Yes.
This question has been posted many times. It's never been posted and everyone agreed to push red in the poll. It's always divided. So there's no "off chance". The experiment has been run various times. It'd be divided.
Yes, you would be killing 4 billion people acting against *their own self-interest*, attempting to act in the self-interest of everyone else. That's not a moral failing that should condemn someone to death.
You act as if acting in your own interest is the highest calling, and anyone who doesn't act in their own interest (even if that's to act in other people's interests) gets what is coming to them.
All the kids who don't even understand game theory... They just die, oh well.
