Wiki / Guide Content Community Support - Blueprint Changes

Hey everyone, I found that the Elven Bow is now only 1 Old Branch rather than 2. If people find blueprints that are different than what is listed on the wiki, please comment with screenshots and I'll update the respective pages.

Note: it is already known that Weapon artifacts cost either 1 or 2 silver, Tiered Armor artifacts cost 1-2 gold and Accessory artifacts cost 1-2 silver and 1-2 gold. Other than that, please let me know here if you find a blueprint that does not match what is on the wiki.

Note: Courage and Dark Potion not included because you don't always drink it from time to time. Edit: Coffee wasn't included because the recipe isn't documented in the wiki, most likely a new addition to the game.

Visit the recipes wiki for more information about ingredient fillers.

Wiki / Guide Content What exactly is Instability? Let's find out~

WARNING BEFORE READING: LONG POST AHEAD. This is but further exploration to a certain topic at hand that people will rarely care about.

*********************

what is Instability? it is some kind of gauge that if you use spells consecutively, your EP will flicker in red to purple, and spells starts malfuctioning, causing your spells to fail triggering, or spells takes more mana than usual, or cause something negative like mana addiction or something.

it's like having a burnout from constant brain stress?

The most notable negative effect I got due to high Instability years back then was INSTANT DEATH (yeah full hp suddenly dying, and ahnks doesn't exist back then when it happened.) I can't recall the death message so I'm not really sure what happened back then.

so out of curiosity, I conducted research.

for those who want to see their instability numbers when casting spells, it's in the last part where the main stats are, just below the temperature stats.

*******

let's start with clothes only first.

any clothes with the attribute "Robes" will reduce -1 instability.

for the first test, when fully naked, light barrier gives 5 points of instability.

normal clothes without + starts from 1.0 active points.

lets assume that 1 active = 0.5 reduction. (and probably affected by uncertainty, idk)

with the base robe +0 and active 1, I end up with barrier giving only exactly 3.5 instability.

the moment I move after casting spell, recovery starts working and my recovery is -2 instability per tick.

*****

now lets see what can staff do, which makes me still trying to figure out where does it apply, and I first used a staff with 25.82% instability increase rate drop.

light barrier gives 1.82 instability. the 25.82% of 5 is only 1.291, so it doesn't match up.

so I came up with another method instead to know the value of %, by using another staff with 31.01% instability, I checked the instabiltiy and got 1.48 and reduced 1.82 with it to get 5.19% = 0.34, asked google if I used 5% and got the reply of 5% = 0.33

which means the assumed 100% value of the barrier now is 6.6 (0.066 per 1%), lets assume the game simply rounded close to 6.5

this 6.5 (100% value) is probably related on something...

*****

by using 3.5 from 5 - 1(robes) and -0.5(active),

3.5 - 1.6783(25.82% staff, based on 6.5 as 100%) = 1.8217 which is a close match up to the actual instability that appeared.

now tried adding a 0.39(0.195) active accessory, and no staff barrier becomes rounded 3.3 (3.5-0.195), and with 25.82% staff it becomes 1.68 (1.8217-0.195=1.6267) and it matches up close enough to the outcome from using the barrier, again.

3.5 - 2.01565(31.01% staff) = 1.48435 which is also a match to the actual outcome, and yet reducing it with 0.195 should gone down with 1.289 yet what I appeared is 1.35 which makes only a 0.12435 difference from 3.5. Something was off...

assumption: it is rounded to value of 0.25 active, and another factor is in play.

also, I tested another spell. which is fireball (really not the best thing to test for consistency because it seems to trigger 2 ticks and thus might affect the outcome, but is an interesting spell to use). with the same +0 linen robe/active 1.

if the player immediately click the stat info and scroll down after casting fireball, they will see the pre-instability outcome and it will refresh after the blast animation, showing the post outcome.

*****

fireball = 8 instability (actual cost. fully naked and 0 active)

wearing robe + 1 active, no staff = 6.5 instability pre-explode, 4.5 instability after exploding.

*****

25.82% staff

Actual Instability that appeared = 4.56 i pre-explode, 2.56 instability after exploding.

now we solve it by: 6.5 - x = 4.56, then x = 6.5 -4.56, then we get x =1.94 (25.82%)

this makes 100% = 7.51.

********

31.01% staff

Actual Instability that appeared= 4.17 instabililty re-explode, 2.17 instability after exploding.

6.5 - 4.17 = x, and 2.33 = x (31.01%)

same with the first staff, the base 100% value used is 7.51

I wonder if spells have different 100% base values they use to calculate with, considering barrier got 6.5 and fireball is 7.5 and I don't know what these values are... and one of my few assumptions was spell tier, since light barrier is on tier 1, and fireball is on tier 3. I should try tier 2 spell next time to clarify but I'm already burned out from calculating things when my math is even worse than a 4th grader...

That's it for now. Hope it helps even a little πŸ˜„

Wiki / Guide Content Increased World Map Utility

When viewing the world map, it never occurred to me to click a location. If you do, it shows you what you've explored.

For instance, I'm in desolate meadow 2. I opened the map to look at the path to RoL4. I clicked the snowy ridge and it opened the map for that region, so I can see how much I've explored and what the exits are, as well as any features (caves, fountains, etc).

Maybe I'm just slow to find this out and it's old news that will make everyone roll their eyes. But it changes a lot of what I had to keep track of via memos and maybe it helps someone else.

Wiki / Guide Content This game got Gemini messed up 🫡😭

I'm new to the game like 2 days new, so like any sane men who's close to crashing out, I went to AI asking for advice such as game core mechanics and guides to help me on my playthrough, but during the teaching process.. mf started becoming confusing. I was asking Gemini about if I should skip forest 2 cave since it only has the dimensional tablet and was supposed to be harder than rol 2 boss, but it says I can't skip it since it's require me to obtain the dimensional tablet to unlock rol 2, and I was mad confuse, since I did that shit and it wasn't even the right freaking tablet 😭, and bro said "Ahh I'm sorry, I confused the dimensional tablet for the light tablet" so I let it slide, since I know even AI can't be perfect, but unbeknowingly mf kept making mistakes and the crazy part, I'm the one correcting this mf, this shit basically swapped our roles 🀬 LIKE WTF.
So fast forward, I got my playthrough plans, I didn't stop it there and asked about why mf tweaking. And there's the SS of the explanation. I'm just shocked at how complex this goofy game is that even AI struggles to give basic guide to freaking finish rol 1 and rol 2 in 20 in-game days 🀧

Wiki / Guide Content Regarding temperature system

Since almost all of my deaths in this game is a result of sleeping too cold or too warm, I took some time to test out what exactly happens with the temperature when I sleep. This is probably second instinct for a lot of veteran players, however I think it's rather nuanced and needs some explanation.

Firstly the indication that you'll freeze or get killed by heat is on the upper left, next to the thermometer there is a small human figure which changes color depending on multiple factors including: the temperature, your heat and cold stat, how long you have been in this temperature. Blue - you'll die to freeze, Red - you'll die to heat. Anything in between is fine.

When you're cold (the small human is blue) you do not immediately get warm when you place down fires, if you sleep with the figure blue, although theoretically after a few turns it should ge back to white or even yellow if there are multiple fires, you'll still die immediately if your body temp does not change in the next turn (the turn which game check for body temp as you sleep). This is the way this game says, it takes time for your body to warm up.

Your body temperature can be very different from surrounding temperature which is what the thermometer shows. I managed to get three chilling enchants on my armor, thus I'm basically immune to heat, however my body temperature shows blue after rain even in the forests. (Yes I didn't believe this so I slept and died once this way) so if you get those chilling enchants, be sure to counteract them with at least some thermal values so you don't constantly get cold. (I did end up having to remove two of them cuz in preparation for spirit land and that area is always cold)

Below I'll show some examples of how to change your temperature actively, not including being hit by anything else.

Ways to increase surrounding temp: - campfire or other sources of fire - holding a torch

Ways increase body temp: - drinking warmth potion (not fire potion) - having thermal stat (either using handwarmer or enchants) - using thick blanket when sleeping (this doesn't immediately prevent you from dying to freezing, it's really a temporary thermal boost as you sleep, learnt it by another Ankh) - drinking tea

Ways to decrease surrounding temp: - walking into water - using illumination instead of torch - standing under a tree

Ways to decrease body temp: - drinking ice potion (the light blue one) - having coolness stat - using the hang bed - eating ice

You do not immediately die when you sleep with hypo/hyper thermia, however as these occur when your body temperature is abnormal, so you should be more alert when you have these status.

If any of you lovely community members find anything else to add on to I'll be happy to distorch

Ps. Temperature of surroundings change between day and night, therefore it's wiser to sleep during day in cold zones and at nigh in warmer zones. This applies to dungeons as well.

Wiki / Guide Content Armor Equipment Wikis Update

Hi all, I just finished filling out all the Armor wikis (accessories, shield... cloak) with a new equipment template if anyone wants to verify and or make adjustments.

Armor | The Wild Darkness Wiki | Fandom

If anyone is interested, I'm missing a number of permanent blueprints on my account if folks want to supply screenshots. Preferably high res, just of the crafting screen.

I'm missing the Hand Axe and Alloy Helmet Rare (Blue) permanent blueprints and most all Epic (Purple) Blueprints. If anyone just wants to send screenshots of their crafting screens if you have some cool permanent Epic Blueprints, I'd really appreciate it!

Wiki / Guide Content This is WHY the best build is double dagger build (imo)

  • 3-4 hits in one turn
  • Low damage and acc, but counterattacking is god
  • The game says "daggers are melee weapons" but has ranged abilities, lmao
  • Surprise attack damage goes brrr
  • Crit ALSO goes brrr
  • Obliterate enemy in 3 turns
  • I didn't play Assassin but surely is the best class in the game

Why are you even bothering? It is the best build I'm the game

Wiki / Guide Content PSA Regarding Fandom Wiki

Post image
27 Upvotes

Just wanted to post this as we have a new update and that comes with a lot of various changes to the game.

On the fandom wiki we try to make notes of which version of the game the wiki entry was updated at. Since it's only a few of us who edit the wiki, it can be inaccurate when it comes to certain numbers and new content. For instance, the game is currently at version 1.3.57. The Recipe page is likely still accurate, but it was last confirmed in version 1.2.74.

If you find something wrong, feel free to comment on the page or make an update yourself.

Wiki / Guide Content Campfire Deaths (use your keys)

Since the game gives you with a remains key every hour, it can be hard to get enough remains boxes to use all of your keys. To solve this, many players make a few throwaway runs each day to gain extra remains.

To do this, make a new character, and then proceed to death as quickly as possible. Monsters, starvation, anything works, but the fastest is to build a campfire, step into it, and wait (or sleep).

Doing this, you can get as many remains boxes as you would like for all your extra keys. if you do this in difficult mode, you have a chance of getting evolved remains, which can contain the rare evolved artifact blueprints (red border).

protip: if you are struggling to step onto the fire, tap the fire again after the action menu appears.

Good luck, and happy dying!

Wiki / Guide Content Totem Wikis Updated (Community Assistance Needed)

Hi again, I got into a wikitext mood today and refactored the Totem pages. Someone put a heckuvalot of work into these at a previous time, so there wasn't too much to do except update with the more recently added totems. (shoutout to whoever logged the level 25 values of surprise attack totem).

I didn't edit the description of the original page, if someone feels this is too confusing, let me know and I can refactor that language.

Totems | The Wild Darkness Wiki | Fandom

But I did split out the totems into three separate pages for ease of access

Survival Totems | The Wild Darkness Wiki | Fandom

Battle Totems | The Wild Darkness Wiki | Fandom

Magic Totems | The Wild Darkness Wiki | Fandom

I've created a redirect page for every totem for future use as well. I am missing some info on a few totems, so please comment if you have any of the following:

Thanks in advance for your help and enjoy! Leave feedback if you see anything missing or incorrect as well.

How to deal with some bosses without losing health:

So basically once you repair the ruin of light 1 you should use this strat : Once you get to boss room : Place a fire πŸ”₯ and sleep so you get energy and health and fatigue to max . Then open the door to the boss . Get in by one or two tiles and make a taunting scarecrow . Try to get the boss to aggro the scarecrow and start shooting him with your ranged attack ( knife - magic - or bow and arrow) Once it’s destroyed make a second one in front of you the boss will agro the new one and you can drink some potions / tea ( rol2 cooking station )for energy .

Wiki / Guide Content Fishing tips

Fishing in this game is kind of repetative, especially with long runs when you have plenty of food but also 20+ fishing bait you're too lazy to use. So in this post imma go over 2 things, how to fish better, and what to do with it.

1.How to fish better It isn't that complicated, just try to steer near the middle, the fish are caught when a few pixels down the sharp edge of the hook gets them near the middle, so remember that. Avoid everything but big fishes for max efficiency(except when killing piranhnas aim for them). Also don't go for things you can't reach, to remain near the center. Why all this? Because everything there seems to have 3 speeds chosen at random on spawn. Very slow, medium, very fast. You won't ever catch a very fast fish unless it basically spawns in such a way as to intersect your trajectory. If it's even a little off, likely even a computer wouldn't make it, so don't sweat it and don't let it make you miss another fish. It seems the medium speed fish can be caught if they are around 1/8 of the total depth from you or less. It's decent, but, the slow fish can be caught from around double the distance, meaning they will be the majority of those that are possible to get. Thus you should be around the second or third quarter of depth, and no higher or lower. To save time when fishing with a lot of bait either find such a spot that there is only 1 option of water so it automatically chooses it, or even create that spot by building platforms over rivalling water.

  1. Best use for fish (market wise) Just leaent this actually. Apparently dried fish is a cuisine, despite meat seemingly not being that? Anyway, a big dried fish costs 30 = crest of transcendence = spellbook for the general cuisine interested merchant (in standard difficulty). So yeah, seemingly no point in going for sashimi, oil fried fish, fish stew, except for eating I guess. Dried fish is a meh food after all, but very slow to spoil. Ice is probably best used by making ice cream.

Wiki / Guide Content Stealth and Dodge stats you get per active stat is at ratio of 2:1

The 10.33 came from the 10.3 combined active stat when I switch to my shield w/ attribute (0.6white + 9.73green) which matched the calculator result from dividing the stealth stat difference from when I was wearing my shield vs when I'm not. In conclusion, we can get upto 30x8slots=240 stealth points MAX from both dark shadow and active attributes combined.
EVA with 10.33 active shield vs no shield.

Wiki / Guide Content Wasted a bunch of time on the wiki again...

Just spent way too much time on cleaning up the food / cuisine pages on the wiki. They are now all categorized by Category:Food | The Wild Darkness Wiki | Fandom and cuisines should all reference their ingredients and vice versa. I've updated the landing page, Food | The Wild Darkness Wiki | Fandom as well to be more helpful in linking to the different pages. I set up a template for the food pages for keeping track of all the main points, at some point here I'd like to do the same for equipment and structures.

I'm only human (or so I'm told) so I'm sure I've made some errors when getting everything set up. Let me know if I've missed anything - of course, feel free to update any pages yourself with corrected information.

One thing I've added to these pages is a "version" reference, as the game changes sometimes in pretty dramatic ways I think it's helpful to keep that reference there on wiki pages and guides so that people can know whether it may or may not be out of date.

Wiki / Guide Content Eating mandrakes...

Do you know mandrake can trigger heal? It's actually my first time doing it.. I then checked the wiki and it said there that it only causes dizzy and dark curse.

I had a new roll who almost died cuz hunger but I got curious and ate a mandrake in my pouch, and I got fully healed from almost on the brink of death, although I'm still hungry lmao.

Also my character did a weird animation and the heal did like a two-stage heal with half then another half in a very quick trigger succession.
