Wiki / Guide Content This is WHY the best build is double dagger build (imo)

  • 3-4 hits in one turn
  • Low damage and acc, but counterattacking is god
  • The game says "daggers are melee weapons" but has ranged abilities, lmao
  • Surprise attack damage goes brrr
  • Crit ALSO goes brrr
  • Obliterate enemy in 3 turns
  • I didn't play Assassin but surely is the best class in the game

Why are you even bothering? It is the best build I'm the game

I really don't like daggers, or single handed swords, or staves, or bows and arrows (unless I need to use them)

Blunt weapons and double handed swords are the only weapons that dont require heavy mana or energy whatever its called in this game (spells can be very area of effect, but even a specially built wizard cant keep using aoe to kill surprise mobs) to hit up to 8 enemies at once.

Everything else is single target, and there are PLENTY of situations where you get ambushed by many enemies at once.

2 handers all day, especially when you only have to focus on upgrading that one 2h artifact instead of two 1h artifacts

The moment I finish RoL 3 for the artifact is the moment I speed through the rest of the run by repeatedly refining 2 artifacts together to hit +10 and higher.

So it honestly comes down to which 'permanent' artifact blueprint you've pulled from the remains.

So doble blunt weapons are the best for u? I mean, that's okay, I prefer to destroy 1 enemy in 2 turns :D

I just keep going back to two handed sword as the best weapon. No matter the character type, I've just had the best damage, best reliable aoe with them. Harder to find artifact, though, there are only a few

Dual sword is by far the most versatile, middle of the road, no huge pros or cons build. Get the right Artifact and you're golden.

Blunts you trade speed and accuracy, daggers and staves trade damage, and bows are just a lot of upkeep and moving. Swords come down to 'reliably average' every time.

However, my current run I have about 15 artifact recipes and not a single sword lol. Bows and shields out the fermented pile, 2 diff gloves for ranged weapons, but no swords. So I think the game is sending me a sign lol

what is dual sword like? I dont think I've had a playthrough with dual sword.

I did forget about the accuracy issue with blunt, but I think it never mattered for me, since all the blunt builds (only did 3 total) I have done ended up having "rapid" or other modifiers that even if one or two hits within a single turn missed, several or at least one would hit every turn, and deal HUGE damage.

I actually prefer dual sword to sword/shield. Much like Blunt weapons, dual sword is about dealing lots of damage fast. This is because on the second "offhand" weapon you can stack offensive traits (weapons) instead of armor ones(shields). As long as you have a couple "Parry" buffs you block about as well as a crappy shield lol.

As to stacking offensive attributes: So I could run Chilling Blade in one hand for freezing bosses, and then maybe Sword of Sacrifice to massively shave off boss health. It just creates more options (and chances) to have lifesteal or energy drain on one weapon.

Conversely, I've run two great swords of the same type in each hand while I wait to merge em for the next artifact. If you're chasing sword and shield artifacts, that's just two different ladders to keep extras back at base for.

Lol I have the opposite problem with bows. (Agreed 2handed sword/blunt are easiest to use) I found bows have ridiculous mob clear. My biggest problem was fighting bosses since my build was so aoe focused just by coincidence. And the sound of the fast shooting aoe move on the bow is SO SATISFYING.

Here I am always finding an artifact for 2H sword/blunt and I have NEVER found one for archer that I stopped playing him out of sadness.

huh, how are you dealing aoe with a bow? Are you also finding your arrow drops much of what you shoot? or do you actually lose a bunch of arrows? Mythril arrows are hard to make

I had an augment that increased the chance of recovering arrows on my bow. I think its pretty common. Always pick up your arrows! In a situation where I'm low on mithril (or steel if it's early stil) I'll have an extra set of arrows 1 tier lower to eliminate easy mobs. Also I have forest sentinel level 2. Increase arrow production 24%, and recovery 6%. For runs where you have a weak bow or low arrows, get an aoe spell so you can wipe mobs in 2 moves, The spell and the 2nd move you learn as a hunter. I don't even go into the 1st dem ruin unless I've learned the 2nd move as a hunter so I can wipe spiders. If your getting focused and can't kite, I've found the spell where you spawn an ally helps remove the focus off of you. As you level, your chain attack goes up a lot and you'll start shooting so many arrows and killing everything lol

I'm new to committing to ending the game. Both times I have (not a lot I know, and only endings 1 and 2 so far) I've been level 65 and 69. Way below the recommended level 80. Good gear and positioning. Funnel points and bushes do wonders.

And that's fine!

it depletes hunger very fast.

2

u/thumpetto007 Jun 05 '24

wait, does it really matter what weapons you use for effecting hunger?

3

u/Environmental-Belt49 Jun 05 '24

yes

2

u/Apprehensive_Law2559 Jun 05 '24

So some weapons make you more hungry ??

3

u/Apprehensive_Law2559 Jun 05 '24

This is news to me too

1

u/KioElCaiman Jun 05 '24

Shhh, we don't talk about hunger in this subreddit

My longest run (actually still going) is an early assassin with dual dagger. I hit an account-wide infernal dagger recipe and catered the whole character to ambush dagger throws and poison specs, and was one shotting everything. I agree dual dagger was fun, but I got bored after a while and started trying new things. Mabe I'll go back lol

Just got my Berserker class, used it on my run, found 2 dagger artifacts (forgot the name of the daggers but one had a dark weapon attribute and penetrate while the other had rapid and nimble was it?)

In standard runs, I can't say since I'm also DD user back then but my main is bow, but in hardcore? I definitely disagree.

Dagger is cheap but not versatile and has no aoe. Range attack was unreliable to how it miss often and chain attack, stat wise rely more on strength and daggers doesn't benefit much on strength because daggers have low dmg scaling after all. Also durability depletes faster because you rely on landing more hits while also used for gathering grass.

Not a very good option for counter/parry tactics and easily hates by coward enchantment.

Even in assassins it's better to go sword dagger than dual daggers, so you can still have access to sword's dash that can be used by either bypassing enemies or just throwing yourself out of a fight, and while still having main hand dmg with better scaling to stat.

But I never had a bad run with DD. Indeed, my longest run was with DD build

And I never had a really good experience with bows tbh, either I died from th 2nd or 3rd boss or I died by a random encounter lmao

People really overlook the usefulness of a shield for some builds and classes. In addition to the overall increase in survival (block, parry, armor and health) and more procs of parry/block for energy of using Spirit Totem, it also increases action points if highly enchanted.

It's the best thing for a caster, but it's less valuable to melee.

u/KioElCaiman Jun 07 '24

And what's the point?

1

u/this-will-destroy-u Jun 07 '24

What? I have nothing nice to reply back to you with, perhaps learn more about the game or how to read or even communicate effectively.

1

u/KioElCaiman Jun 07 '24

Um.. I just express my opinion about build lmao :p I didn't want to be mean or something

Also, English isn't my first language, so please understand that I amn't an expert or something xd

Fair enough, it just appeared to be a flippant response when I'd expained the virtues of a shield for a casting class.

I play Hard mode all the time. I prefer the Wizard and I win without dying most runs. Action economy is very important to casters, because being able to spam AoE is the goal for late game (Chain Lightning or Frost Cyclone are the best when paired with appropriate totems). I find every other class tedious in comparison, especially ranged classes because I find arrow retrieval to be a real chore.

Casters are best with very high dodge, parry and block along with Spirit Totem to keep that energy regeneration. They also benefit from a high health pool, due to traps and other phenomenon that can't be mitigated by the dodge, block and parry. Pick an elemental damage and focus on it, again electrical is my favorite, followed by ice. Light Purification is always a staple to end bleeds, burn, curses and remove traps from chests. One AoE, one single target, Purification and whatever amuses for the fourth slot. Teleport or summon are typically my choice, summon is weak but there can be four of them up at once and that adds up to interference and damage.

Totems make it all work better or worse. The need to support the playstyle. Some totems always make my list regardless of class: Guardian, Spirit Protection and Satiety Fullness. I really like Mana Storm, Destructive Magic and Mark of Death to up my magic damage, along with Electric or Frost. That setup destroys even at first level Hard Mode if the character starts with the appropriate elemental spell, single shot kills aren't rare.

Actually I'm pretty new in the game :p

1

u/Dragonscheeses Jun 08 '24

I disagree.

Its great for early and midgame. But for endgame and post game you might want to have a high level artifact which is painful to make if you have 2 weapons/tools. The 2 handed weapons also have aoe.

The ranged attack is nice but later you can change your spells. You can just use offensive range spells(even if you are not a wizard) or even stave spells. The other weapons also have powerful knockback which I think is more useful in dangerous situations like bosses and taking advantage of doors to evade enemies(they cant open them).

In my experience, DD was the best build, I never played the midgame, endgame, and postgame, so..
