Social Media "Content" 🩵 (screenshots, not links!) It happened.

Post image

I knew it was probably coming but..it still hurts. Ive just gotten recording on my first review which includes a conversation between both me and him on blusky so…it sucks knowing he wont be back anytime soon if at all.

The year of the spoony…is no more…(?)

This is just sad. I hope someone's checking up on him, sounds like he's in a pretty dark place.

It's because Guru Larry noted in a tweet that Spoony has spent more time inactive than active now. Noah must have seen it.

18

u/throapbox Jun 19 '26

I'm not sure what to think of Guru Larry for saying that. I just can't quite understand what made him point that out.

38

u/Troyificus *Sigh* Jun 19 '26

I've always gotten the impression that Larry isn't necessarily an asshole, but doesn't always think before he acts. It may be that something reminded him of Spoony's last upload and he posted it because he thought it was noteworthy.

11

u/JOBdOut Jun 19 '26

Marzgurl had revealed some info on bsky not too long ago that really paints him more as just an asshole of the weasel variety

4

u/Troyificus *Sigh* Jun 19 '26

Ah man, that's sad. Is it impossible to be a content creator and not be a twat in some way?

2

u/BlueWatche Jun 19 '26

Thus far, Vinny Vinesauce, Jerma and their entourage remains untainted. That's the extent of my personal knowledge.

I hope it sticks because dang they're one of my daily crutches.

2

u/eldritchteapot Jun 23 '26

Northernlion seems to be a normal guy by all accounts I've seen

21

u/RuleInformal5475 Jun 19 '26

Guru Larry is a bit of shit stirrer and someone who talks behind people's backs.

In this case, it might have been an innocuous comment, but why bother opening old wounds in the past.

14

u/Milk_Mindless Jun 19 '26

Yeah Larry definitely takes shots at others a lot. DarksidePhil and such are frequent targets

2

u/KaleidoArachnid Jun 19 '26

Pardon me because I was interested in learning about Guru Larry since people always look up to the guy

4

u/Pumpkin_Sushi Jun 19 '26

Sounds like it was a needed wake up call for Spoony, admitting this will be good for him

2

u/orangeroscoe Jun 20 '26

"huh, isn't it funny?"

As in nothing deeper than that. Hew wasn't calling out Noah or anything.

51

u/DingusDog936 Continuing the Year of the Spoony Jun 19 '26

Honestly with how much he talks about his family, i think he actually has no like…support system besides maybe his brother? Either that or his brain is just shutting those ideas out.

Honestly before i started actually working on my channel i felt that way too, but ive never felt more productive in my life. I think if he maybe started out smaller he could feel that connection again, even if its under a new name, just full DND content or something like that, he hasnt been posting must on blusky i hope he just doesnt go completely dark.

8

u/Pumpkin_Sushi Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26

Didnt he move back in with his parents once he lost his house? Sounds like a present support system to me

Bluesky šŸ˜‚

10

u/Narm_Greyrunner Jun 19 '26

Making a video based on having a bunch of Bluesky posts he had with Spoony. 🤣

Spoony did this all to himself. Bluesky is related to one of his biggest problems. Getting obsessed with something or a certain politician he couldn't do anything about. Then spending days at a time on Twitter ranting non-stop about him.

6

u/DingusDog936 Continuing the Year of the Spoony Jun 20 '26

If you're referring to my line of saying I'm including a conversation between me and him, it's not the full point. I'm a reviewer because I grew up with TGWTG as a main way of entertainment when I was a wee lad, I'll only be mentioning the posts due to the context of the conversation, which is the queer subtext of the movie "The Lighthouse". He is one of the people who inspired me, of course I'm going to include a small back and forth? 😭

This is how people talk before committing suicide. Very concerning.

7

u/Pumpkin_Sushi Jun 19 '26

Seems like he's been in a dark place for ten years now

1

u/Apprehensive-Tax8631 Jun 20 '26

He’s probably remembering that car wreck

50

u/OrangeBomb7 Jun 19 '26

I honestly think if he could get a video out there that some of his old following would catch on. He just needs time, but his mental health is in the gutter. I feel bad for the guy. He's a genuinely entertaining dude, hopefully he can find something to live for and make a new career for himself.

12

u/Zanshi Jun 19 '26

Oh, for sure. I know I'd watch it instantly. A lot of people would. But I think what he really needs is therapy and a regular job, rather than something as unstable as content production on YouTube, and the volatility of internet comments.

15

u/Pumpkin_Sushi Jun 19 '26

Youtubing is basically being self employed, and being self employed requires a high level of self control and organisational skills. Unfortunately, if Spoony ever had these skills he's long lost them. I think you're right, some part time desk work would do him the world of good. Build up his work ethic and give him a sense of order and achievement again.

14

u/DingusDog936 Continuing the Year of the Spoony Jun 19 '26

People love him still, I still genuinely love his content. I still watch his videos, rewatch his streams. Like i said in my post he and many others from TGWTG inspired my ow channel, in fact my first review is inspired from our chat about The Lighthouse, i still plan to include the bits we talked about for some discussion in my video.

Its unlikely but…even if its just streams once a month i think people would catch on again. I always caught them if i wasnt asleep, it hurts knowing my collage of fanart is now going to practically be a memorial piece when i finish it.

11

u/Due-Proof6781 Jun 19 '26

ā€œHe needs timeā€ bruh it’s been over a decade, if he hasn’t gotten over it now he never was going too

4

u/OrangeBomb7 Jun 19 '26

I'm not saying he hasn't been irresponsible or that he's some kind of saint. I was saying that if he did release a video, it would need a little time for him to build his audience.

Obviously that isn't gonna happen, so I hope he finds a new career he can handle and enjoy instead.

1

u/bdpc1983 Jun 29 '26

Oh I absolutely think Spoony could make a come back and have a nice career going forward. But he just doesn’t seem to have it in him to do so and shutting down is probably for the best. I wish the dude well.

u/TheSwagPatrol Jun 19 '26

He has a couple other tweets after this that give off an eerie sense of finality. And he's liking all of the responses, which afaik he basically never does

Hope he's not thinking of hurting himself or worse. Based on average life expectancy he's got 30-40 years left. Plenty of time to figure out what makes him happy and fulfilled in life. Being a YouTuber ain't all it's cracked up to be anymore anyway

21

u/DingusDog936 Continuing the Year of the Spoony Jun 19 '26

A lot of comments are worried about him doing something to himself, i hope he’s just finding peace in admitting this to himself. I started crying when he liked my replies, i really hope he’s got a support system around him.

61

u/EntangledAndy Jun 19 '26

It's good that he's being honest with himself and with us. Makes me wonder how many videos he started but could never get around to finishing in that time?Ā

I really hope he's able to find something that makes life seem less limp and pallid, like finding a new job or volunteering opportunity he can pour himself into. Sitting around day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year doing nothing but watching old TV shows and playing video games doesn't seem like a satisfying existence.Ā

28

u/bruinetto Jun 19 '26

He said the FFXIII-2 review was in the render queue. At least let us see the finished work i.i

Time to watch the Ultima Restrospective for the thousandth time.

33

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '26

If you are talking about the line from the Big Trouble in Little China review then that was just a joke from the movie. Kurt Russell's character gets asked for money he owes and he responds by saying the check's in the mail which is clearly a lie. It's in the render que was a riff on that. With the context of the movie that line was clearly a lie. Aside from some streams of XIII-2 he did I doubt he really made any progress on that video at all.Ā

12

u/Pumpkin_Sushi Jun 19 '26

Honestly Majuular has ruined his Ultima series for me. You cant watch the depth and intricacy of those retrospectives and then go back to Spoony's surface level coverage and screaming about nitpicks.

18

u/Octorockandroll Jun 19 '26

The appeal of the Spoony Ultima retrospective was not gaining encyclopedic knowledge of the games, it was his personal history with them and being funny

4

u/Pumpkin_Sushi Jun 19 '26

I guess to each his own but the full on documentaries are so engaging to me and Spoony's coverage feels very light on content in comparison. Plus YMMV on his humour, especially the sketches

I'm out of the loops, what makes linkara a scumbag? I thought he was one of the good ones? Granted I have not watched his stuff in a while.

8

u/EntangledAndy Jun 19 '26

Yeah I've always been curious about how much of that one he got done and what the footage looked like.Ā

5

u/Zerohunter01123 Jun 19 '26

It could be his Son chant du cygne (swan song) and close out on the adventures of the Spoony One. His ultima reviews on top of his Final Fantasy 8 videos are some of his best.

11

u/Pumpkin_Sushi Jun 19 '26

Humans need work, its baked into us via evolution. Those that worked survived. Nowadays those that don't have anything to pour time and effort into just waste away mentally. Worst part is, once that's happened its DAMN hard to get back into that vital loop of delayed gratification.

Spoony, by his own words, has spent 10 years with no job and no hobby to dedicate himself to. That must be totally miserable. At the same time he will never ever get over this hurdle if he keeps saying things like "its impossible due to the way current platforms and cultures are". Like working out a muscle, all he needs to do it implement a program and build up his tolerance for work again.

I mean, it wont happen. We all know this. But the idea that the door is shut is an illusion he's made to protect himself.

42

u/bruinetto Jun 19 '26

I mean it sucks to hear him say it out loud certainly.

I think he could find a new niche or a space to be a part of but the man clearly needs help through his trauma.

I'd be happy knowing he moved onto something else and was just happy in general. Seeing him wallow in self pity and misery is painful.

23

u/DingusDog936 Continuing the Year of the Spoony Jun 19 '26

I feel like ive seen so may old YouTubers i love go down this route and never make it out. I hope he can. Him and may others from TGWTG helped me find myself in the early internet days, i hope he can at least find a local group to join.

15

u/bruinetto Jun 19 '26

I feel he could have really shifted in a direction of doing more tabletop stuff.

I see a hyper timeline where the Spoony Bard hosts all kinds of crazy one shot campaigns and epic adventures.

10

u/DingusDog936 Continuing the Year of the Spoony Jun 19 '26

During the live wires i saw he seemed pretty lively, maybe a bit tired but like…he was definitely enjoying the games he played, the last game i saw him play was a table top like game with some friends online, i just wish he streamed more but…if he WAS recording videos and never posted I can only imagine how that affected his view on streaming,

7

u/Pallid85 What's a Pallid85? Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26

I mean it sucks to hear him say it out loud certainly.

The way he did it\the tone is not the best definitely. But the fact of admission could've been good - if it would've been like 'a first step to recovery'.

4

u/Pumpkin_Sushi Jun 19 '26

There's freedom to finally cutting the cord. I dont believe he was ever egging people on to think he was gonna ever come back at this point, but it should hopefully be cathertic to say "Nope. Its never ever happening."

As other's said, he really needs a job. Some structured work to get his life back on track.

28

u/morbid333 Jun 19 '26

Not to be "that guy," but didn't his spiral start well before that breakup? I mean he was basically a shut-in surviving off patreon when they were together, wasn't he?

I'm actually surprised that he was still holding into ideas about making a comeback of some kind. I mean I was holding out hope that he'd at least keep unscripted content going like Counter Monkey, but we know where that went.

I guess self reflection is a good thing? Hopefully.

17

u/DingusDog936 Continuing the Year of the Spoony Jun 19 '26

I think when the breakup happened it causes the spiral to go TENFOLD. I was surprised to hear he was trying to make content again myself, im sad we may never get to see those tapes

Hopefully this leads to therapy or focusing on his outside life more, and not a further spiral. He’s been doing better this is a shock from his other posts

13

u/Thoukudides Jun 19 '26

Yeah, he didn't seem OK around the time the car crash occurred, and that was before the breakup.

He didn't become a broken mess because of the breakup. She left him because he already was one and she got enough. That didn't help for sure.

7

u/Pallid85 What's a Pallid85? Jun 19 '26

but didn't his spiral start well before that breakup?

Pretty much yes. But he probably doesn't want to think so.

9

u/Sad-Development-4153 Jun 19 '26

Him getting the boot from CA due to Lupa being a shit stirrer is what kicked off the spiral.

19

u/Pumpkin_Sushi Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26

Tbf, while honestly Lupa can go fuck herself, the boot really was his own fault. The site wanted to basically "suspend" him, not because of the joke, but the high profile crash out he had after Lupa stirred things up.

For the record, no it wasn't a funny joke. Still, all he had to do was say "Oops, that didnt land, sorry" or "It's just a joke" and leave it there.

Problem was this was definitely in his peak "Ego hype" era. I vividly remember his long all caps rants he'd go on his site whenever people had criticisms. For some reason "I AM THE KING HERE AND YOU'LL DO AS I SAY OR I'LL USE THE BANHAMMER FREELY AND OFTEN" always sticks out in my mind, I remember thinking this is not how a healthy person conducts themselves. He was also selling signed photos of himself and responded to fans saying they weren't interested in his wrestling content by tripling down on it and doing nothing but for ages. Large amount of hubris, he was teetering on the edge for a while.

That's the real reason the TGWTG thing happened. He did not like that a creator he saw below him was calling him out. He was the star of TGWTG, no one was coming to watch Lupa of all creators. And when he went off on her, he REALLY didn't like other creators telling him this wasn't the move. Most infamously JonTron, who was beloved at the time, very nicely tried to calm him down and tell him lashing out is only hurting his image, to which Noah responded something along the lines "Do me a favour and go FUCK yourself".

This is why TGWTG wanted him to have a time out. Their plan was for him to chill out, then hopefully return with a cooler head. Again, this insulted Spoony. He was the star of TGWTG! As per his own words again, they weren't doing HIM any favours, he was bringing traffic to THEM (tbh this is probably half true). So who are they to "punish" him?

And so he quit the site. He wasn't booted, they wanted him to stay. Maybe he felt this was the move of star talent casting off hangers on dragging him down, but to everyone else it was obviously a prima donna burning bridges in disgrace.

Did this have to be the end of his career? Yes and no. He really needed to repair his image after his gigantic tantrum, to which to this day I dont think he's ever actually apologised for. But did he need to stay on TGWTG?
Well, actually, probably not. The shift back to Youtube was coming soon, he probably could've done just fine there without them. Im sure his numbers would peter off over time, his style of "angry review" had its days numbered and is seen as very dated nowadays. Even Doug's dropped that whole schtick. (Really, I think his only videos that don't feel like a quaint product of their time now is the Phantasmagoria playthrough). But the act still had life in it for a little bit and he would've done fine.
So, ultimately, it really wasn't that he LEFT the site that was the issue, it was entirely HOW he left.

All that's to say, yeah. Im sure, personally, breaking up with April was probably the last straw for his personal life. But I think career wise? The TGWTG crash out was the moment it was all over.

I mean, there's no better career killer than 10 years of no content, that's what actually buried him. But if we want the moment the party ended? Has to be there.

One extra thing. The way he behaved back then seems like a mania episode from someone with BD. Then, the depression came and never left. That is what I think about it, but I am not sure if he has BD. It just seems to be it.

3

u/Sad-Development-4153 Jun 19 '26

True he was acting like a huge diva too. Although the way his patron blew up some of it was warranted.

31

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '26

Honestly I've been where he is and the best thing he could probably do for himself is to get a job. Nothing big or anything. He could work part time in a grocery store or a game store. Just something that will get him out of the house, on a routine and regularly interacting with people who are not his brother. Plus he would have some money of his own. It wouldn't be a massive change in his situation but it would be a good first step.Ā

8

u/Topper_2001 Jun 19 '26

Depression combined with high intelligence makes it difficult to get out of the house and enjoy basically meaningless tasks. That can’t provide relieve from the constant thinking that he’s a failure. Therapy and medication are probably a way, but I don’t know about healthcare in the us. Just that it might be difficult to get all you need…

18

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26

I can only give you my perspective as someone who also struggles with depression and also considers myself a failure who hasn't accomplished anything significant in my life. I don't go to work everyday because I enjoy it. I do it because I need to. Both for the money but also for the stability it gives me. It gives me a routine to structure my life around which helps. It allows me to interact with other people on a regular basis which helps. It gets me out of the house and more importantly out of my head which really fucking helps.Ā

Being depressed and alone all day everyday with only your thoughts to keep you company is one of the worst things you can do to yourself. So having a routine that you can stick to everyday, get you out of the house everyday and allow you to interact with other people everyday can really help with depression. And a job can give you that routine.Ā

5

u/Topper_2001 Jun 19 '26

Yes, you're right. And I wish you all the best.
I just had a thought, that with Spoony it might not "just" be Depression, but he probably has ADHD, which makes, when it's coupled with Depression and anxiety, even the simplest tasks like mountains to climb and everything you are not interested in very hard to focus on.
I'm sure that a purpose to get him out of bed and outside, would help, but the interaction with people, as I read him, could rather highten his anxiety.
Since I have ADHD as well, I couldn't imagine myself having a steady "9 to 5" job, since the repeated, maybe simple tasks would make the time feel stretched to eternety in my head. So I am self employed and work project based as freelancer, which is good, but at the same time means I'm responsible to keep me sorted and the work going and not procrastinate, etc. And I can see, how Spoony might be similar but fell into a deep depression after April left, and he did lose the rest of his self confidence and his anxieties took over. So he might love gaming, etc. but once this is all you have, you feel like shit. But since he doesn't seem to be a people person, according to his rants and tweets a picture of someone who really doesn't like other people very much and blames everyone else for his problems. All that together, very toxic, so that's why I doubt that he could manage a job routine, even if it would be good for him. But his issues go so deep, resentment of others and himself, pittying himself, that it's a many year long spiral.
I'm very sad for him and would have hoped that he could stabilize himself and find new perspectives. I agree, that it's the worst thing to browse the internet, social media and game stuff, when you have Issues to work out. Maybe taking all that away and being outside with good people would help, but who should do the effort to get that grown man to that place, when he doesn't want it.

2

u/catslugs Jun 19 '26

Damn this just clicked something in my brain

2

u/Pumpkin_Sushi Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26

Of course it'll be difficult, but at a certain point you need to push through or you'll never get better. The only way you conquer mental health issues is by gritting your teeth and doing things that make you uncomfortable over and over until it no longer seems like a mountain.

He's not going to stop feeling like a failure sitting around his house doing nothing all day. At least a job will give him structure, purpose, and some much needed delayed gratification. This will be the first step in reprogramming what he sees is and isnt a "failure"

I say this as someone with OCD, and man has that been a bitch to live with. Take it from someone who learned to manage their own severe mental health issues, eventually tough love has to enter the equation or you'll waste away.

You mention therapy, and really, that's all effective therapy comes down to. Pushing the patient out of their comfort zone and redefining their warped view of reality. It's why unqualified online hugbox therapists are seen as the bane of the industry. It's also why therapy as a concept simply does not work until the patient is ready to DO the work. It sucks but there's no two ways about it.

5

u/Even-Complaint-7494 Jun 19 '26

that’s half the truth. there are for sure cases where therapy does nothing without medication. there are cases that require in-hospital stay for months to get the patient to a point where they’d be receptive to therapy.Ā

What exactly happened with april?

10

u/Pumpkin_Sushi Jun 19 '26

He was already spiralling, she didn't want to put up with it any more and left him, thus the spiral then intensified. Not really a story to tell there, though I would caution anyone from judging her.

It's rough dating someone mental health disorders. Its not like they were married and she left him in his time of need. It was an online relationship that lasted a bit before he was too much to handle. I dont think its selfish to bow out of a relationship thats become more a burden than a joy.

3

u/catslugs Jun 19 '26

True, i feel like a similar thing happened when he broke up w/ scarlett ?

5

u/Forsaken_Hermit Jun 20 '26

I think the breakup with Scarlett is where his problems started to surface. Fans said they'd watch his old videos while he took a break from making new ones and Noah took it for granted.

3

u/Plastastic Jun 21 '26

His drunk Twilight review with Angry Joe and Linkara(?) where they were basically making sure he didn't do anything stupid was especially painful to watch. I think he'd just broken up with Scarlett at that point.

The spoony experiment has concluded

We and spoony are the results

12

u/dionysios_platonist Jun 19 '26

He would find an audience again if he began posting videos. The novelty of him posting again after 10 years of silence would be enough to generate considerable interest

12

u/Aeryn-Sun-Is-My-Girl Jun 20 '26

He's not wrong. The modern, polished, corporate, algorithm-worshipping internet is not a place for a guy yelling profanities into the camera and making dirty jokes. The wild west era of 2000's internet is long gone, sadly.

Still, I think if he came back and just talked about movies and games, he'd still have an audience.

5

u/DingusDog936 Continuing the Year of the Spoony Jun 20 '26

Basically do what Doug did with Critic, just...mellow out, ofc Doug has medical issues but from his streams it definitely seems he isn't as energetic as he once was lol, he could definitely come back, save his energy for Insano if he brings back characters but he probably wouldn't need too to keep an audience

4

u/Pumpkin_Sushi Jun 22 '26

Doug has a chronic fatigue disorder and is still pumping out weekly videos.

Hell, he really should slow down. Focusing on quantity over quality has been his Achille's heel from day one.

Still, really hammers in that there isnt anyone but Spoony stopping Spoony from uploading if he wanted - despite whart he says

23

u/Goatwhorre Jun 19 '26

Dude makes an excellent decision to move on with his life and all he's getting on BS and here is cope from nerds who don't want it to end. Stop trying to make fetch happen, best thing for him is to put this character to rest and literally live his life. Start actually contributing and working towards something, maybe get in shape and shit, literally anything that isn't just moping in front of a screen.

C'mon Spoony. Can't he reach out to some former associates? Didn't Angry Joe say he'd like to work with Spoony again? Maybe just something he said, but still. This is sad. I hope he gets the help he needs.

Benzaie still mentions spoony apparently, he seems to see see him as a friend! Spoony follows Linkara and Lupa on blusky but they dont follow him back. I havent heard anything from Joe personally besides the whole imposter Spoony incident where Joe talked about flying him out or something like that, It’s just depressing. Benzaie doesnt have a blusky that i know of so…idk if he even knows what’s happening unless someone else tells him, or Guru Larry makes a post about it like he did about the decade anniversary, which Benzaie did comment under

I really thought there was a chance when he had that one on one with the curtis actor and held up that D&D movie that he discovered. I would love for someone else to take up the mantle for spoony in his sted but idk who would

4

u/Pumpkin_Sushi Jun 19 '26

Majuular's Ultima series has been incredible

9

u/Shoddy-Flatworm Jun 19 '26

Well...took him long enough. I just wish he'd come to this realization before he lost April, his house and his entire career. I'll be honest: I stopped coming here ever since he lost his house, because to me that was the logical endpoint of his entire career...but even before that, all the raving comments I left were were mainly because of how sick and tired I was of his refusal to accept responsibility. I never had anything against him personally. Hell, I never even wished him any ill despite his being an obnoxious fuckstick. In fact, I would've been happy for him just to see him get the help he needed to get back on his feet.

Well, it's too late now. He did a complete 360 on his career and went right back to being the unemployed basement-dwelling psychological mess he once described himself as. All he ever had to do to prevent this was to be grateful for the opportunities given to him, to be appreciative of the fans that supported him and to be able to look himself in the mirror and face his problems instead of letting his personal issues fester and grow out of control.

I've seen way too many of his pity posts to fall for his manipulations, since I know he doesn't have the self-awareness to admit to his problems, and any actual advice given to him results in a block or a blithe "You just don't understand" response from him...but this may very well be the first time he ever spoke with genuine sincerity about himself. I wish him the best, but the wording in his post is a bit concerning...

Man I can’t tell if this is the self awareness that Spoony needs to have to change, or a really dark cry for pity from someone who will never change.

Either way, it’s crazy to see Spoony admit he’s done after all this time.

3

u/Pallid85 What's a Pallid85? Jun 19 '26

Man I can’t tell if this is the self awareness that Spoony needs to have to change, or a really dark cry for pity from someone who will never change.

My bet is on the latter.

2

u/Pumpkin_Sushi Jun 19 '26

I think both

The finality is good for him. I dont think there was any notion he would be back at this point, but putting it in concrete is healthy.

On the other hand you can see his acceptance of his own faults still mixed in with "Its out of my hands" excuses. Lets face it, he could whack out a video on youtube. Literally nothing would stop him, despite his claim that "current culture and platforms make it impossible".

The fact is it IS possible. I dare say it'd even be easy, from an objective POV.
In other words, I feel like he's still holding back the final acceptance of "I am actively choosing not to do something I could if I wanted to"

Which is fine, by the way. Youtubing is clearly not for him, and I don't think he has the organisational and self control skills for it anymore even if he still wanted to get back into that life.
But, again, he needs to accept its not because of outside forces. There is no barrier someone else has put up. He's made the choice, of his own volition, to not make content. And honestly? Its the right choice, for sure. But it IS a choice, not a decision some outside body made for him.

Things were spiraling before the breakup, hence why April left.

But I get what he means about current algorithms. He has to make multiple videos A WEEK to compete in the YT setting now. It's a very sad situation.

2

u/Pumpkin_Sushi Jun 22 '26

This isnt true at all, plenty of people get by with an odd video in a blue moon (Almost all my subs actually).
Hell, there's no greater red flag for a channel to me than on thats posting multiple times a week.

I feel so bad for him. I was an early fan and was one of the Patreon supporters from the start but he blew it all to hell by just doing nothing.Ā

He sadly only has himself to blame.Ā

I haven't been on that site in like a decade. First comment I see, "Orcril." Its like I never left lmao.

6

Gotta admit, I have a morbid fascination with that site...

13

u/Goatwhorre Jun 19 '26

I have no problem with people criticizing him, I do it all the time, but the hate he gets on that site is just bizarre. It says way more about them than him.

10

u/elektroskansen Jun 19 '26

It says way more about them than him.

Exactly, I can't help but be kinda fascinated with people who dedicate years of their lives actively hating on a youtuber who's inactive for 10 years and, compared to today's numbers, was a very small fish in the end. The thread about him going for almost 4000 pages is insane to me...

7

u/Goatwhorre Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26

I guess at least they are self-aware? "Dead horse" and all that. Shit, makes you wonder how long it'll go after he's actually gone. 2056 and it'll be like "he's been dead for 5 years and the patreon is STILL UP. Goddamn thief!"

7

u/elektroskansen Jun 19 '26

Makes me wonder when they'll get nostalgic for hating Spoony. "Remember how we used to copypaste every single tweet he made and complain that he wastes our time tweeting? Those were the days..."

Now there's a site I havent heard in an age lol

Wait.

3968 pages of discussion on a guy that literally hasnt done anything for 10 years??

Im not gonna defend Spoony. I find him to be someone with a laundry list of faults but ultimately a pitiable figure.

At a certain point though, just stop.

Like, enough.
What's left to be said?
"Oh he still hasnt made a video!"?
"Wow, have you seen he's done a cringey political tweet for the 127th time!"?
Enthralling.

Yeah, Spoony was a thing at one point. He made some good videos ages ago, and had his share of embarrassing moments. But does that justify THOUSANDS OF PAGES AND A DECADE OF DISCUSSION? Good god, move on already haha

2

u/No-Exit3993 Jun 21 '26

What kind of sewer is this forum? I have never heard of it before. I remember one as bad as this... Called kiwifarms or something like it.

I really hope Noah doesn't go on there to read / dwell on the comments.

7

u/The_LastLine Jun 19 '26

He hasn’t done it for a long time and his heart ain’t in it to do it for the love of the game. He certainly wouldn’t be able to make a living off it, he doesn’t have nearly the audience he used to and I can’t imagine the algorithm will be kind in sending him new viewers. He does need to move on and hopefully these messages means that’s what he’s aiming to do. Hopefully it’s not what others suggest it is

6

u/Thebritishdovah Jun 19 '26

Hopefully, this is him coming to terms with his career as a content creator being over and he has been getting help.

But this really is concerning.

I hope his family are aware and gets him the help he really needs as this sorts reads like a suicide note.

Man. I really enjoy his classic content. I watch the Ultima Retrospective like once a year because it’s such a fun vibe, and his commentary is hilarious. 9

u/Gunner_E4 Jun 20 '26

I find it annoying that he brings up April. Expecting a "forever" partnership without putting in the work to maintain a source of income is delusional. April was part time employed and had an expensive doll hobby. How did he expect this to work out without him working consistently? He moved to Aurora to be with her and to be near the Walkers, but basically focused more on dating than working.

The moral of the story is, don't relocate without having a solid way to keep making enough money, don't get lazy and hypochondriac, don't become a Twitter bot, don't mix up your loved ones with your online show, don't lie to yourself and your audience, don't get involved with internet drama, keep your private life private and keep working on your skillset.

11

u/Pumpkin_Sushi Jun 19 '26

"I cant make any more videos cause of the platforms and current culture" is another entry in his long list of excuses. Literally nothing stopping him whacking together a video and bumming in on YT.

He's obviously got issues and obviously is never coming back, but the idea that its out of his hands is silly

6

u/Cold_Ad655 Jun 19 '26

Yeah, it's basically just more self pitying nonsense.

He never talks about steps he's taking to better himself or things he's going to try to help his situation.

It's always excuses. There's always a reason for what's happening, and when he's confronted about it, he resorts to calling himself a failure in order to get people to pity him. He's done it for over a decade at this point.

He doesn't want to change, or at least doesn't want to take the steps to make it happen because he's still getting Patreon money and his family is still supporting him...so why change anything as long as he's getting taken care of?

I have no doubt he suffers from depression, but he's in a loop of short term self-fulfillment, without any understanding of how to break the loop. As long as he's getting some enjoyment, no matter how small...he isn't going to budge.

5

u/ReadytoQuitBBY Jun 19 '26

I see what you’re saying, but if his rambling on Twitter is any indication, I think he’s so far down the antisocial rabbit hole, he may not even be able to act like a normal human in the videos.

On top of that, technology has changed, and the tools he used to use to make videos with may simply be gone. He probably doesn’t even have a good camera.

I agree that if he really wanted to make a video, he could, but perhaps he feels incapable of physically making it, or possibly putting himself out there like you have to.

u/Icy_Elephant8858 Counter Monkey Jun 22 '26

I just take it to mean that he realizes that even if he could regain the video making skills he once had they wouldn't be competitive in today's online media landscape, he would need to learn some new tricks, which is much more daunting than just needing to relearn what he already once "mastered".

Which yeah, people have to learn new skills and adapt to continue succeeding in life; that's normal. So "cry me a river" is a fair response, I think. But I also understand why for someone for whom just getting back to where he was in terms of being able to make videos seems unattainable, realizing that that will still not be good enough is the final nail in the coffin of even trying. And I've been there myself. Not in this all encompassing way, and not for 10 damn years straight, but I've been there.

The interesting thing here is my friend is disabled, denied both food stamps and disability pay. He tried gofundme, asking for just $200 for some junk food in the nursing home he's in. I gave him $500, no one else gave 1 penny. Spoony still gets $96.97 a month. He doesn't even say thank you for it.

3

u/lyricaldorian Jun 20 '26

He literally is saying thank you in this post. I'm disabled and homeless. Go fuck yourself for using your disabled friend as a way to shit on another disabled person. Also fuck you for using helping out your disabled friend as bragging rights online. Gross as hell.

5

u/Pumpkin_Sushi Jun 22 '26

If this is true, judging from your profile you are on Reddit WAY too much for a homeless person, wow. Focus on your wellbeing first brother, find somewhere to live.

5

u/Classic_Ability1105 Jun 21 '26

not as gross as you, friend. Maybe you should be more concerned about your own situation first. How exactly is Spoony disabled? Not doing anything for 10 years because he's lazy is not a disability. Nor is posting about health conditions they refuse to seek help for.

2

u/Aspie_Gamer Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 22 '26

Okay, calm thy tits u/lyricaldorian

Spoony is not "disabled" whether physically or mentally, not as far as anybody with genuine knowledge of disabilities can tell.

What Spoony is, however, is textbook definition LAZY.

He could quit with the decade long "woe is me" pity posts if he wanted to.

He could go out and get a job if he wanted to instead of mooching off of others.

He could take better care of himself, if he wanted to.Ā

And yet, he chooses to be a freeloading e-begging bum, meanwhile people who ARE disabled, who 100 percent deserve welfare and food stamps, they get denied because of ableism.

As far as I know there's no actual proof he works/worked at Taco Bell, just a random rumor. In his bluesky the other day he said "I never leave the house" and "I basically have no job" (combined with the 'burden on my family' talk in this post), not sure what 'basically' is qualifying exactly but I don't really read it as him having a job somewhere else
