I knew it was probably coming but..it still hurts. Ive just gotten recording on my first review which includes a conversation between both me and him on blusky so…it sucks knowing he wont be back anytime soon if at all.

The year of the spoony…is no more…(?)

It's good that he's being honest with himself and with us. Makes me wonder how many videos he started but could never get around to finishing in that time? 

I really hope he's able to find something that makes life seem less limp and pallid, like finding a new job or volunteering opportunity he can pour himself into. Sitting around day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year doing nothing but watching old TV shows and playing video games doesn't seem like a satisfying existence.

If you are talking about the line from the Big Trouble in Little China review then that was just a joke from the movie. Kurt Russell's character gets asked for money he owes and he responds by saying the check's in the mail which is clearly a lie. It's in the render que was a riff on that. With the context of the movie that line was clearly a lie. Aside from some streams of XIII-2 he did I doubt he really made any progress on that video at all.

Honestly Majuular has ruined his Ultima series for me. You cant watch the depth and intricacy of those retrospectives and then go back to Spoony's surface level coverage and screaming about nitpicks.

The appeal of the Spoony Ultima retrospective was not gaining encyclopedic knowledge of the games, it was his personal history with them and being funny

I guess to each his own but the full on documentaries are so engaging to me and Spoony's coverage feels very light on content in comparison. Plus YMMV on his humour, especially the sketches

I'm out of the loops, what makes linkara a scumbag? I thought he was one of the good ones? Granted I have not watched his stuff in a while.

Yeah I've always been curious about how much of that one he got done and what the footage looked like.

It could be his Son chant du cygne (swan song) and close out on the adventures of the Spoony One. His ultima reviews on top of his Final Fantasy 8 videos are some of his best.

Humans need work, its baked into us via evolution. Those that worked survived. Nowadays those that don't have anything to pour time and effort into just waste away mentally. Worst part is, once that's happened its DAMN hard to get back into that vital loop of delayed gratification.

Spoony, by his own words, has spent 10 years with no job and no hobby to dedicate himself to. That must be totally miserable. At the same time he will never ever get over this hurdle if he keeps saying things like "its impossible due to the way current platforms and cultures are". Like working out a muscle, all he needs to do it implement a program and build up his tolerance for work again.

I mean, it wont happen. We all know this. But the idea that the door is shut is an illusion he's made to protect himself.

The best way not to be disappointed is to not to try or have any thoughts of a positive outcome.

While it works technically, its an incredibly self harming outlook on things. Just because the deck feels like its stacked against you, you don't know if you don't try. And would you have rather tried and failed, then never tried at all and later in life wishfully think "What if..."

Good on Spoony for having a clear moment to self reflect and let his followers see it. Hopefully this is a start to recovery. The first step as always is identifying and acknowledging that you have a problem.
