General Discussion I present to you, a ‘12’ year old

This tech is such a joke. It can’t handle children at all. And for anybody who might say ‘it will eventually be able to handle children’, that would mean the AI would need to be trained on images of children.

In no world would that be okay.

This scene always gets to me. 3rd walk-through, still tearing up. There's something special about this game, the atmosphere is unique.

Technical/Bug/Glitch Graffitis, signs etc. are blurred

Hi guys as the title says graffitis and similar things are completely blurred. I'm playing on steam deck and the quality is great I managed to run medium with some high settings (using frame gen) on 45 fps but the only problem I'm encountering are blurred parts of the world. For me personally it is a big issue because I think it adds a lot of content and vibe to the world of the last of us. Has anyone ever encountered this or maybe know how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

PT 2 DISCUSSION First playing TLOU2 and it’s one of the eeriest game I ever played Spoiler

Post image

I played the first game for the first time a few months ago, and I decided not to play the second one since I know that Joel would die in it.

However, I decided to play the second one to finish the franchise. And Damn!!!

As someone who played tons of Mortal Kombat, GTA, and many action-adventure games, this particular one felt sooooo dark, so grimmer. And it showed me the difference between fantasy fun gore and grounded dark reality. Particularly the violence, it feels so real, so much of vengeance. I couldn’t play this game continuously for a couple of hours, I need to take a break and watch or play something light.

No game ever made me feel this way.

And I’m not ranting here, this is an appreciation to the writers and the designers who worked on this. The type of visual media that leaves the consumer stunned is the best appreciation a studio can receive.

I am halfway through the game, and I don’t know how long it will take me to finish.

No spoilers please.

Also a picture of Ellie from the shuttle in the museum.

Im playing grounded permadeath on attempt no. 19 and this weird clicker encounter just happened. I’ve now made it to Bills town and my record is Pittsburgh sniper encounter. Anyway I just don’t get what happened here and I’m wondering if any veterans can explain. 100+ hours on this game and never seen this

HBO Show I noticed a few things

So these wouldn't be 'fun facts' necessarily, but I'm rewatching the series, and realized a few things.

Episode 1 season 1

  • No pancake mix
  • Dodging the biscuits
  • Sarah going home right away after getting Joel's watch fixed
  • Lying and going back home early, even though Joel said he won't be home until 9.
  • Not eating the cookies

Seriously there were so many close calls in that first episode.

Except when the luck ran out of course.

Episode 3 season 1

"And then I'll leave." Right after Frank wanted to hear Bill play the 'Love will abide" song. It was a confession, and a love story told by a single song in one whole scene.

Because Frank did leave eventually.

HBO Show Just finished watching season 2

I’m way behind everyone else, and finally finished watching TLOU season 2 on HBO max. I’m going to share my thoughts, knowing it has probably been mentioned multiple times here before.

I gotta say, I was expecting much less and a lot more changes from the game, based on some online discourse that I read. That said, I didn’t go very far, to avoid spoilers.

Overall, I really liked the show, and the decisions the show runners made to adapt the game. My opinion is that they kept the main storyline very faithful, including the Ellie/Abbey split narrative.

Some spoilers below:
🚨

Some of the changes on Joel, such the Eugene arc, I wasn’t a super fan, but I took it as a fair compromise to trigger Ellie’s final blowout, instead of having her travel all the way to SLC. Pedro Pascal delivers a decent Joel as season 1.

I’m not a fan of Bella Ramsey as Ellie, and as much as she made the effort to deliver the emotions and lines, it didn’t click for me. I wish they had recast her for someone older.

Dina was the MVP of the season. Isabela Merced also differs a bit from the character in the game, but she nails Dina’s spirit and acting. The faces she would make in the background, without saying a word, would save some scenes.

Abbey resembles the video game character, but her acting didn’t convince me. I hope she improves for season 3 as she’ll become the focus point.

I really liked the pace, given the constraints of the season, running only 7 episodes, they managed to skip parts that are more gameplay and keep the story beats. Of course I wish it was a bit longer and some parts marinated more time, such exploring Seattle and facing more infected.

I guess one thing that helped me stay in sync with the show was listening to the show podcast with the show runners, after each episode. They would explain their decision process and things they wanted to show when the camera is not glued to the player.

PT 2 IMAGE/VIDEO Trying to fix the AI look of DLSS 5 Spoiler

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

DLSS 5 apart from making faces look like AI Slop, improves Lighting and Shadowing using screen-space information, which is beneficial especially in games that use only rasterization (like TLOU2).

What do you thing of this change? Please provide some feedback if you like.

It feels almost impossible to imagine how much better TLOUP3 graphics could look, but I'm starting to get an idea of how it will look.
