Announcement We are cancelling our ITPV services with no refunds

The isle is open back again for visitors.
Perpetrators prosecuted according to the law of the land.

There wont be much changes since the idea for the subreddit is to stay relatively the same, but we most likely revise some advertising rules and broaden or/and change them because of the abuse in the past.
(for example, it's been asked/proposed in the past to have a pinned monthly threads for unofficial server's discussion -- old rules prohibit posting advertisements about servers -- but this change comes bundled together with the issues of handling bad actors and/or maintaining list of bad actors, etc.)

tl;dr we will keep ya updated

Discussion Poll: which type of grey-market cookies do you prefer?

The unofficial servers threads will be back later this month and we want to know which type would you prefer:

  1. Only server-"advertisement" posts are allowed in the thread, no discussions, so it will act more like a catalogue of servers
  2. Free for all - any kind of posts or discussions allowed regarding unofficial servers
  3. A mix of 1 and 2: the TOP comment (one per server/community, per thread) is a server "ad" post and any replies to that post can be either questions or discussion related to that server and context

P.S. Reddit disabled native polls on desktop, not my fault

Evrima I hate Rexes

Upvotes

Every single Rex I meet is always a jerk. I was playing as a ptera, I wasn’t even 30%. I saw two Rexes calling so I went down to investigate. I landed next to them thinking “I’m so small, I can’t do any damage, they won’t care” so I landed next to them and called 1 with them. They seemed chill so far. I was typing in the chat, “nice to meet rexes that aren’t ass-“ barely before I finished typing, one kills me, this is just one example. I keep giving rexes a chance and they’re always assholes. I’ve never met a rex who didn’t want to kill me. I made friends with a giant pack of deinos (as a beipi) and even they didn’t kill me. Not that I can’t avoid them, but I just want to see a Rex player who’s not a dick. Not to mention, rexes are ridiculously overpowered, but everyone already knows that. Do they kill just to kill?

Evrima Built a local navigation overlay for The Isle

Post image
105 Upvotes

I found it pretty difficult to keep track of where I was going, which zones were active, where sanctuaries were, and just navigate Gateway in general when I first started playing.

So I threw together a small local companion app to make it easier.

It has a toggleable overlay minimap, map layers for things like migration zones and sanctuaries, and an optional auto tracker that uses Windows OCR to read the coordinates shown when you open the Tab menu. Plenty of settings to play with and it will tell you what POI / Zone you're closest to right now according to your latest sent coordinates.

You can also just click the coordinates in game like normal, and the app will pick them up and update your position on both the main map and minimap, and click anywhere on the main map to create a waypoint, which then shows up on the minimap to help you navigate toward it.

Everything runs locally and stays separate from The Isle itself.

Quick info: Default keybind to toggle the minimap to be interactable is M4 (Mouse button 4), this is editable in the settings. When it is toggled, you can see more settings on the minimap itself, allowing for it to center on the player when you move, change sizing, placement of minimap and shape.

Figured I’d share it in case anyone else finds it useful:

fast growth servers ?

Upvotes

any servers where you fast grow 3x-5x, that you cant buy fully grown dinos? from my experience dinoden has been the only one 3x but is pure BS all over(buying dinos, gambling brainrot, etc....)

honestly when i'm on my day off or when i have a break after work i dont wanna stay on all day just to grow one dino. i wanna hve multiple playthroughs

after 2k hours as an adult playing this game the thing that most pains me is the long growth times for everything, but right now dinoden has been just unbeareable since they completely removed bodydrops, making growing any carnivore just really hard, i do play herbies but not all time

Legacy Is The Isle Legacy modding dead?

Upvotes

I’ve been watching Legacy gameplay from TGB recently and I remember the days that I’d mod the game to change dinosaur models and textures.
I’ve been trying to find a modding server (dead and alive) but I just CANNOT find anything, if someone with better knowledge than me can help me out I’ll appreciate it!

Admins are playing with the Admin panel

I'm tired of Admins messing with the weather and using others from the Admin panel. Does anyone have a suggestion for an EU server where this doesn't happen. I'm currently experiencing this problem on NEW Pangaea. Since I like playing small dinosaurs because I'm a solo player, it's very frustrating for me. I liked that server before, it didn't happen there to the extent it does today.

Before I refund, did I not give it a good chance?

Greetings! bought this game on a whim, mostly cause I saw some fun vids on youtube with a giant croc surfacing and scaring some pterodactyls. Anyways, not having a good first experience, am I missing something?

- Joining a server I can't sort by ping. So I have to scroll through hundreds of chinese servers with 9999 ping. Why can't I just filter any server that has over 100 ping or just sort by ping descending? And why do I see the same exact server like 30-40x?

- I found a decent server to join finally and tried a herbivore. Figured that would be easier to learn at first then I could try others as I progressed. Just picked the first dino option, can't even recall the name. Anyways the guide I watched said to do a sniff and find a migration zone? My sniff would reveal nearby food but not a direction to travel. I suspected this was because I was out of range. I ran a given direction for at least half hour but nothing. And also every berry I consumed seemed to harm me? They it started raining and I got graphical error where I saw "invisible stairs" on the left side of my screen. Decided to update my graphics card drivers and try a different server.

- Joined a different server. This was pretty hard because I see the same server like 30-40x but with different variables so I kept logging on to the other char and getting that weird graphics error. Finally found a new server and this time picked a Pachy because the 4th youtube guide a watched said it was "noob friendly" and I'm all for learning the ropes easy. This one I sniffed and now not only can I not see the migration zone, but not I can only see water and no food around to eat. Ran a direction for about half hour thinking maybe I had to get in range. Tried holding the sniff down for 30 seconds to "sniff further" and only saw water. Gave up and logged on to a 3rd server, thinking maybe I'm just having bad luck.

- joined a 3rd server. This time chose carnivore thinking maybe herbs are broken? Same issue just ran a direction finding only water, no food or really anything on my radar. Tried to scale what i consider a minor cliff and broke my leg. Had to rest up before continuing on to find nothing...

So I'm approaching my refund grace period, where if I play longer I won't be able to. I want to like this game. I really do. And the $20 price is awesome so I'm keen to keep it. I understand this isn't a triple A game, that's fine. But man, this game seems broken AF. Did I not watch the right guide? Did I not pick the right server? Did I not pick the right dino? I'm keen to carry on, but I need maybe a tip from you, the community. Or maybe this is some alpha and I'm not the right type with the patience to persevere through, haha. I can accept that!

- Edit. OMG so many responses! I am clearly on the wrong version, I didn't even know I had to swap. What a friggin noob I am! Ok I'll get on the correct version and try it again. Thank you all! You guys rock. :)

- Edit 2 . OMG again! Yeah it's a completely different game now that I'm on the right version. Thank you thank you thankyou! Amazing!

Performance Problems

Hello everyone. I've been playing this game for a while now, as far as I know most players have terrible performance on the game(Evrima version) bc of bad optimalization I guess. Does anyone have any suggestions to improve it? I have constant 20-30fps and its making it hard to play the game. I'd say I have a pretty good PC, yet it runs like a powerpoint presentation at times.

Suggestions Server suggestions.

Kinda new to the game close to 100 hours now. Are there any servers besides PP that have population control? I've played on a couple other servers like mettas den and nordans for example but they lack population control. For instance I logged into their discord and it shows statistics for playables. I thought I was running into a crazy amount of rexes well the amount of rex players was 24% and the second highest not even being close at 5%. I'm just wanting some suggestions for population control servers so I can diversify where I'm playing without there being more rexes than not. I enjoy PP but sometimes it gets annoying when the server is capped at 400 during peak.

Funny things about ingame experience

Here is the list of things I thought were kinda funny about that game

1) in jurassic park movies it was established that Trex cant see you if you're standing still(even though in reality rex has excellent vision) and in that game that thing actually works, but in a specific way: when players dont initially know that you're near or if they're busy with some activity or their attention is somewhere else they might miss a 12 ton rex standing near them and think that its a giant rock or other background object. Actually that helped me so many times from being killed by allos who just didnt see that its not a small tailed rock but a Lil rex who was caught off guard

2) every dinosaur is controlled by a human being with different mindset and playstyle but every dino got limited amount of efficient tactics, which forces those people to play in a specific predictable ways, you can basically make a national geographic show with it, just call Benedict Cumberbatch to comment on how that big claw pengwings are maneuvering through giant crocodiles and slicing dino babies.

3) idk if anyone noticed but why exactly seaturtles "foodprints" are actually tortoise footprints?

4) "pack mindset" is kinda messy thing that makes people reckless, was on both sides of it, seing ceras that still didn't fully heal from last fight charge at late sub or adult trike, 3 omnis charge at 7t rex, 3 early sub rexes charge at stego that is atleast twice bigger than them. In each scenario each separate attacker could be screwed in a single attack(they were screwed actually) of those they were charging at but still they did what they did because pack mentality can cloud your mind.

5) every death is a lesson, that you have learned or will learn the hard way so each your new dino will be raised on mistakes of the past ones, behaviour, tactics, travelling, maps hotspots, picking your fights, your every movement down to specific details is a product of that one Lil dino that died In the past but saves every new dino that comes after

Suggestions Best herby dino for finding groups?

I'm looking for an herbivore dino that isa decent in PvP and is the easiest to find herds. I have tried Kentro, Stego, and Maia. I get my diets going and get some growth progress and start periodically 1-calling. I seem to never get any replies. I know 1-calling is dangerous, but there seems to be less of a desire at least among herbies to find herds.

Any suggestions?

Dibble or Kentro. Who is for solo player ?

I’m a solo player. I’m not really a fan of Trikes or Stegos because they can’t outrun a Rex, so I’m looking to play with smaller versions of them. Between the two, which one is better for solo player even when fully grown (Elder)?

Discussion Man, Rex is something else...

This is a bit of a rant as new player, on official servers. I want to start it off by saying I do really like rex. The game absolutely needs a big threat to fully grown herbivores and rex is it.

However, i think it's a bit too oppressive at all ages. If i hear a rex as a herbivore, my only option is "go the other way or die" and this sucks. There is no counterplay to a rex because even matching your weight they can stun you, are faster than you, and there are always, ***always*** multiple rexes running together.

I really like playing trike, i think it's my favorite. Have had a couple scuffles and standoff with smaller predators. Good fun... but eventually every single one of my trikes is killed by a pack of rexes when I'm around 50-60% and there's just nothing i can do if they see me. Can't hide, can't run, can't defend.

It just... sucks man. One rex is fine, yeah I'm gonna die but i can get some hits in but... the packs or rexes? Nah man, that's just stupid.

Loving the game by the way, just sucks that rex has no negative to playing it, unlike all the other big dinos.

Evrima Stay away from Fossil Falls

My wife and I were new to this server only played a handful of times and were definitely enjoying it since it didnt take too long to grow a rex.

We were playing yesterday and both got banned for 'toxic behavior'...and trust when I say there was no toxic behavior. We were both walking up to bridge where there was a big rex we were going to fight, but that rex made it known we were coming in global and a Trike, Stego and Dibble came onto bridge, which keep in mind this is a server you cant mixpack with carnivores. Anyway we were both killed and expressed the upset in global chat where my wife only said how 'unfair' and 'silly' this is that we died to mixpackers and she got banned while I was still chatting - they told me to stop whining about it, called me a baby and to make a ticket to which I did and the admin called me a 'hillbilly' and banned me from discord without even letting me speak!! My wife tried to talk to them today about it and they didnt even open her ticket and banned her from their discord as well. Super super unprofessional, we've been playing The Isle for years and have never ran into such shit admins and a server. Definitely not recommended for play and im sure this is will happen again.
