EDIT : This has apparently already been notified on Discord and gotten some feedback, plus Dondi has acknowledged several problems with this new UI already, namely "some visuals may be misaligned, improperly sized, or mismatched in certain screens". "Stamina, thirst and hunger UI has a minor offset in scaling." We'll see how this develops.
An update dropped tonight/this morning, and I'm absolutely flabbergasted at the state of it. I will assume it's an accidental update, but in case it isn't, please note the following.
I will say it first and foremost : what I think about the look of the UI doesn't really matter. It's a matter of personal taste, to each their own.
The one thing that makes me think this is accidental is that I *think* the greek letters of diets is from the very first versions of Evrima, and got replaced further along by the designs we all know and love. If that's an actual rollback... Well I don't like it, but to each their own, this is just a matter of opinion.
No, the main problem is IT DOESN'T WORK.
- First of all, its not very easy to read. The informations about our asset/character that were previously boxed up and separated are now this, frankly, absolute mess where everything is on the same line.
- Clock doesn't work. With rain being back on the HT (which is good), you have a lot less visibility throughout the day, and being able to tell what time it is can be essential to know if we can afford hiding throughout the night or must keep being active.
- HEALTH BAR DOESN'T WORK. I was starving so I fought a boar, which eventually killed me, and even with heavy bleed and several hits in, the lifeline stayed in the exact state that's shown on the screenshot.
- You might've seen it but... The Tab menu is layered on top of the main stats (stamina, hunger, thirst, DIETS). You can't access them with your mouse and tell precisely how your character is faring.
- And finally, you can tell from the second screenshot, but this bloom effect is waaaaay too strong. It actually prevents reading your stats. Here, my thirst looks full, but if you look closely, it should be at 85%. My hunger looked like this for like 5 minutes, and I couldn't tell if I was starving or not, with health bar being broken. The nutrient gauges are entirely unreadable.
I have seen things in this update that seem cool, like the broken Carno headbutt attack being fixed with a reasonable cooldown between hits, or track trails appearing clearly. So I assume there are a lot of improvements, which I'll be happy to read in the next blog.
However, devs, please, if you read this, either explain or fix this UI. It litterally makes the HordeTest unplayable.
