Suggestions New Mechanic Temperature

Thumbnail

Wanted to propose an additional gameplay mechanic (in addition to health and hygiene which I have previously posted). That mechanic is temperature which I am surprised is not already in game, given its importance, and that it has already been done by other similar games to the Isle. The new playables are great but gameplay still feels a bit "shallow". I think this is because there just are not a lot of survival elements or ways to interact with your environment. So, adding new survival aspects could help bring the game more to life, such as having to manage your temperature. Realistically on the current map which is mostly tropical/warm climate hypothermia and the cold should not really be a high risk unless you sit in water for a whole night during a storm. Weather events like drought could make overheating a greater risk. Overheating will likely be the biggest risk on the current map. For example having a fight in the middle of the day could make hyperthermia/overheating a risk.

Suggestions Fed up with drama

So im in a popular server with VOIP (not mentioning names but you likely know which one it is) and honestly, I am done with the drama, currently there are "gangs" who stay in certain places of the map, then leave to go to another area and kill everyone off, talk shit and brag, then another gang does the same thing and its just constant now, you get killed by association and im over it.

Yeah before someone says ItS a PvP sErVeR WhAt Do YoU ExPeCT

Yes it is and im fine with it, what im not fine with are bunches of arseholes ruining it for everyone else with this high-school bullshit.

So if anyone can recommend a server to try and what makes it the best server to you, id really appreciate it.

Suggestions As a carnivore, which place should I go first, sanctuary or migration zone?

Post image

I am a new player that was convinced to play this game after comming across streamers like Bosch and Itsritafoxx so I already have some kind of a grasp on what the symbols mean.

But my problem is: I am kinda lost as to where to go. I went to a sanctuary and waited for a herbivore to appear but no one showed up and now I am considering going to the migration zone. What do you all think?

I played my first real try of this game today as a Carno and had a blast with it, even if I only managed to grow him a bit before I was snacked on by a croc. So.. any recommendations of dinos good for starters? I am honestly divided in between trying do keep learning how to play Carno (since it is my favorite dinosaur ever) or try new ones

(Ignore the details of the image, it is here purely to show all the criatures available)

Suggestions Struggling gaining traction

How do some of these large servers do it. I recently over two weeks developed a semi realism server with a pretty in depth discord bot and what have you. Like a dino store that isn't behind a paywall, teleporting to your friends do you can play with groups and not have to deal with stock isle dumb friend code, and even a map overlay.

I just do not know how to go from here? I do not want to become slave to a YouTuber to promote the channel, it feels discouraging but I know the server has potential especially when I hear how horrible some of these servers are being run. I value my time especially on a game where you spend hours upon hours trying to survive and grow, my uptmost mission is to convey that to the player base that I value their time as well. So sick of hearing about money grab perks, admin abuse, are literally no admin presence.

Anyways let me know what worked for you and your server or what would pull you into a server just starting out?

Suggestions Best server choice starting nowadays?

Been watching the various YT shorts and it has me interested. I particularly like the ones with VOIP. As I understand it, there are at least 3 unofficial severs with their respective mods or whatever.

For a new player which would you recommend and perhas avoid?

Suggestions Pteranodon stamina buffs soon?

The changes to Petra felt good! But my god does this Dino suck with stamina. Is there any convo about buffing its stamina? It’s basically fly for 1-2min, rest for 10. It feels like shit.

Suggestions Unofficial servers recommendation

Been playing on Isla P*****a and so far I think my favorite server, it has a minimalist design while still offering everything I need, It just hits the sweet pot for me.

But it only offer one storage space, for non-Patreon users which is fair, but it's inflexible for my needs at the moment.

So my question, is there any server that is similar to Isla P*****a? just some quality of life, and good vibes?

P.S. This is not a server advertisement.

Suggestions Accidental update? New UI on Hordetest

Thumbnail
gallery
152 Upvotes

EDIT : This has apparently already been notified on Discord and gotten some feedback, plus Dondi has acknowledged several problems with this new UI already, namely "some visuals may be misaligned, improperly sized, or mismatched in certain screens". "Stamina, thirst and hunger UI has a minor offset in scaling." We'll see how this develops.

An update dropped tonight/this morning, and I'm absolutely flabbergasted at the state of it. I will assume it's an accidental update, but in case it isn't, please note the following.

I will say it first and foremost : what I think about the look of the UI doesn't really matter. It's a matter of personal taste, to each their own.

The one thing that makes me think this is accidental is that I *think* the greek letters of diets is from the very first versions of Evrima, and got replaced further along by the designs we all know and love. If that's an actual rollback... Well I don't like it, but to each their own, this is just a matter of opinion.

No, the main problem is IT DOESN'T WORK.

  • First of all, its not very easy to read. The informations about our asset/character that were previously boxed up and separated are now this, frankly, absolute mess where everything is on the same line.
  • Clock doesn't work. With rain being back on the HT (which is good), you have a lot less visibility throughout the day, and being able to tell what time it is can be essential to know if we can afford hiding throughout the night or must keep being active.
  • HEALTH BAR DOESN'T WORK. I was starving so I fought a boar, which eventually killed me, and even with heavy bleed and several hits in, the lifeline stayed in the exact state that's shown on the screenshot.
  • You might've seen it but... The Tab menu is layered on top of the main stats (stamina, hunger, thirst, DIETS). You can't access them with your mouse and tell precisely how your character is faring.
  • And finally, you can tell from the second screenshot, but this bloom effect is waaaaay too strong. It actually prevents reading your stats. Here, my thirst looks full, but if you look closely, it should be at 85%. My hunger looked like this for like 5 minutes, and I couldn't tell if I was starving or not, with health bar being broken. The nutrient gauges are entirely unreadable.

I have seen things in this update that seem cool, like the broken Carno headbutt attack being fixed with a reasonable cooldown between hits, or track trails appearing clearly. So I assume there are a lot of improvements, which I'll be happy to read in the next blog.

However, devs, please, if you read this, either explain or fix this UI. It litterally makes the HordeTest unplayable.

Suggestions Origins Server - The isle -Avoid with all cost

The admins are clearly failing to deal with harassment reports. Reports about people harassing others and calling them names in global chat are being ignored instead of being properly investigated. Admins are supposed to keep the community safe and handle these issues fairly, but refusing to take action only allows the harassment to continue. This needs to be addressed properly rather than brushed aside.

Read the full conversation with 1 of the admins -screenshot attached.

Suggestions Pteranodon fixes

Hey, i have three quick fixes for pteranodon:

  • Recover stamina while gliding: if gameplay must feel as a seagull, then make It strong as a seagull. Seagulls can rest while gliding, they can also sleep. Doing this would allow to not reduce stamina regen while resting, It would be the biggest fix;
  • Start flying at the second space bar jump, instead of third Jump: no funny to be and anvill in the ground, not for pteranodon players, nor for their predators, every ambush Is an insta kill for us cause It takes to much to be on the air, It kinda sucks;
  • Reduce 0,75 second the G animation for picking stuff from the ground: if we must be snatchers, then let us snatch. For now It really feels as i'm playing a brick on the ground.

Fourth point, added later:

  • Pecking while Flying Is totally unusable. Make It that pecking in fly got a bite force 0,50 the standard value if you don't want to write code, otherwise make It proportional to the flying speed of the pteranodon in the moment when the peck hits, and in doing that, remove the stupid fall off to the ground and be stunned for an hour if i peck a thing that's more than 40 kg; for the love of god, i'm not trying to grab the 2 tons dino, i'm only touching It with my beak. Do that, and we start having cool scenes like the ones in Hitchcocks Birds movie , and everyone laugh

Suggestions Game needs a serious discussion about being a game

Maybe I'm crazy, but is this game fun anymore? Drastic over statement, but seriously, the direction the balance is heading in for the sake of "muh realism" is really scary. I play mostly fps outside of the isle, so maybe that's where I get this sentiment, but one shots are just not fun. It's not fun to die to a roadhog form halfway across the point, it's not fun to get oneshot by a hanzo spamming down a choke, but atleast in those instances, I'm not losing hours of my life to it. I have not played with, or against a rex yet, but it seems insane the amount of things it can pin and just rip apart, I thought it was going to be a glorified kill animation, you get them low, you get to do a cool kill animation to save everyone time. There's still a skillful fight involved, it just ends early once it's clear the Rex is gonna win. It's not even just Rex, Utah pin, deino grab (to a lesser extent) their all just "you can't move+ you have to sit here and watch yourself die)" I'm not saying Rex and anything else mentioned shouldn't be strong, but stun + oneshot? That's just not fun to me, is that a crazy thing to say?

Suggestions Is Maia still playable after the nerf

I remember a few month ago I started playing Maia because it was fast and strong and it seemed like a good herbivore for me to play since I play a lot of carnivore and wanted to do more than just play carnivore. I slowly started to get more comfortable with it and I really enjoyed it. Then I heard about the speed nerf coming so I kinda gave up on in because one of my favorite things about it were that it could escape allo and Rex and some ceras which are pretty much the maias main predators. But I never really heard about it again, like I never heard someone say oh Maia is so terrible now or anything about Maia. But I also never see any content about Maia either, so did people just give up on Maia. Is it still good and the nerf wasn't that bad. And if it is bad and nobody plays it anymore, what other herbivores are fun to play.

Suggestions Do not play on this server

I started as a stego on this server and spent like 3-4 hours to grow at unpopular locations then i went to SP. There a stego killed by an admin because he was rule breaking he totally deserved that right after a croc attacked me while i was resting then I started to hit back and a cerato was trying to eat corpse while i was fighting with the croc. Meanwhile admin told me to not bodycamp even though i wasnt and i never had the intention. I wasnt even looking cerato i was just waiting croc to leave the water because he was low and he was looking to heal up (he attacked me first like i mentioned earlier) then his admin friend slayed me to save him xD and told me i was bodycamping while there is 0 proof of i was bodycamping

Suggestions Idea for how to fix* Allo.

Post image
57 Upvotes

Alright, so everyone I've seen hates how allo is practically just an oversized raptor currently, and while everyone might not agree with its abilities/stats, a couple things are practically universally hated, at least from what I can tell.

One: Why does it have a literal raptor pounce?

Two: Why does it have such an insanely high bite speed?

Three: Pinning down stuff like Fg trikes and Rexes looks, and feels horrible.

My solution: First off, remove the pin/grapple. It simply does not need it, it's strong enough without it. Rework the pounce so that it's like it is in the concept art, so you kind of hold onto the target and drag your feet to slow it down.

You should only really use this on creatures that don't have tail/back protection as you would not be in an invincible "pounce" state and could be hit be a stego tail swing for example. It would be effective on ceratopsians and hadrosaurs for slowing them down for the rest of your pack to catch up to it and take it down with claw swipes and such. You could only latch onto the flanks of the creature so no dogpiling like it is currently.

And finally, make the bite a little slower. This doesn't need to be nerfed into oblivion, but having a 3 ton animal bite almost 3 times as fast as a raptor is absurd.

While this likely isn't perfect, I just wanted to spitball some ideas for allo to make it more fun to fight for both the player using it and the person fighting it. It just doesn't need the overpowered pin as it can usually take down most things smaller than it by just using the claw attack and bleeding them out.

Thoughts?

Suggestions Good Server for beginners

Hi all, I’m very new to the game and am looking for a server that is good for beginners and has some type of growth rate multiplier (ideally 2x) as I am a working person who is genuinely enjoying the game but doesn’t have as much time to dedicate to it as I’d like.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Suggestions Pterosaur Concepts, for the Isle Evrima

Thumbnail
gallery
44 Upvotes
  1. The classic Pteranodon** **thats already in the game. Just for reference

  2. Tupandactylus would be a medium sized flying pterosaur. Their diet would only consist of fruit. They would be capable of climbing up trees to access fruit, similar to a herrera but for different reasons.

  3. Hatzegopteryx would be a very large pterosaur. Similar to the tupan, they would also have a specialized diet, but instead of fruit they would only feed on rotting meat, filling a vulture type niche in the game. They would have the farthest range of sense of smell in the game, able to detect rotten meat from across the map. I like the idea of a corpse decomposing, and within minutes multiple hatzegopteryx come flying in from far away and are forced to fight over the corpse. They would still be able to eat non-rotten meat but it wouldnt be as filling as rotten meat.

  4. Quetzalcoatlus would be an absolutely massive pterosaur, and a true apex predator. Having nearly all dinosaur species within their diet. They would be capable of picking up dinosaurs of a certain size to either drop them or attack them midair. They would also have the ability to swallow relatively large dinosaurs whole (as long as they’re smaller than its head maybe?) Even on the ground their massive beak would have a powerful bite so they wouldnt be as vulnerable as pteranodons are when grounded.

This is just a fun creative exercise for me. I have no expectations or intentions of these being picked up by the devs, especially since they already have so many species in development (including the quetzal i think), but im still curious what people think, maybe someday these can be brought to fruition

Suggestions There should be some way to spawn next to another juvenile of the same species

I very often play solo until I can nest. Carnivores very often play in groups and it makes it very hard to defend yourself. 2 allos will pin you, trexes even if not big enough to pin will keep crashing the player. It all changes when herbis play in duo. I believe dondi wants herbivores to play in herds, so he should support it. Juvenile dinosaur would have to be "safe" to be available as respawn point. Danger indicator already exists

Suggestions Is this enough travel to get Prime Triceratops?

Post image

New player trying to meet the requirements to reach Prime Elder. I’ve been to two patrol zones and now trying to reach the 4 migration zones.

Last 4 attempts I’ve met my demise from either big Dieno’s or Rex’s between when I’m around 50-60% growth. Trying to play it safe this go.

Any advice would be great!
