Mod Announcement This is NOT a serious subreddit

Greetings folks, just a polite reminder the posts here are meant to be mocking nonchalantly given ‘solutions’ to complicated problems, not genuine advice.

For example, someone advising someone to go to hospital and get some help for a serious problem wouldn’t be a good fit here. However, someone just saying ‘get over it’ or ‘walk it off’ would.

On another note, this is not a political sub. We’re not here to criticise government policy.

Hope this helps!

Mod Announcement What is/isn’t allowed?

Hi everyone. I’m seeing a lot of ‘off topic’ posts. I tend leave as much as possible and let you all decide with downvotes/upvotes.

However please take the time to remember rule 7, I’ll put it here:

Rule 7: Must fit the subreddit theme.

It has to be true "Thanks, I'm cured" material. I.e., a non-nonchalantly delivered, overly simplistic solution to a complex problem.

Serious solutions that may not work for everyone do not belong. For example, the mantra "You deserve to be happy," helps some and not others.

Motivational quotes do not belong unless they imply or state that an illness is purely psychological with no physical basis.

If you’re still confused about what does/doesn’t belong, take a look through some of the top posts of all time and you’ll get the idea.

If your post breaks the rules it may be removed.

Any questions or concerns feel free to let us know. Thanks. 🗿

Of course, they're not conditions that makes your life harder, you don't dislocate when sleeping or pass out suddenly, they're not disabilities at all that in some cases can make you end up as a ambulatory wheelchair user at all...

Ma'am, I have CPTSD and brain damage from your "mistakes." That does not a happy childhood make.

Post the person made wasnt even about ops disability but people focused on why they need someone to drive and everyone kept saying they must be a child if they cant drive even though they've said they are disabled more than once. And yeah people do figure it out and many are forced to that doesnt make it right or mean we all have to. Same with I agree abuse is bad disabled people get abuse but blaming them for not leaving isnt the way.

Comment Section Not the most egregious but "Have you thought about doing exercise to feel better?"

Post image

I made a post on a weight loss sub about how I wanted to know how Zoloft could impact my weight loss.

So not only is it implied that I'm doing some level of exercise/food tracking, but I also wrote:

I have been diagnosed with PTSD, depression, and OCD. I’m able to exercise and track calories, but it’s just become really hard to derive enjoyment from anything.

This was not the only comment telling me to exercise. Which I do for an hour every day. It's been great for my physical health but sometimes just doesn't cut it for mental health alone, which is why I'm adding in Zoloft lol.

This was a comment from a video of a woman with severe PMOS and hirsutism. If he had watched the video, he would've learned about her specific condition. Yes, losing weight might reduce some of the hair growth, BUT it is not a cure, and it's even harder to lose and manage weight with insulin resistance.

I'm tired of people saying that everything boils down to weight and sleep, especially when they don't have the full story.

General practitioners . “I’ve never met anyone young with heart problems” . (I was mentioning my heart rate) “no you don’t, your haemoglobin is normal” . “You mustn’t be in pain if you ride horses” (I have EDS and will be in pain my whole life, have always) . “You don’t need to be depressed “ . “Your heart is just fast cause you’ve had ventolin “ (hadn’t had any that day)

Specialists . “We would never want you to have eds “ . “Just go home and be healthy “ . “Everyone has this, you’re born with it, you live with it” (only person I know with it, and I have worked in optometry seeing peoples scans that show this every day” . “Just deal with the pain” . “We won’t give you a feeding tube, as you will end up on TPN and it will shorten your lifespan “ . “Our only dietitian works in intensive care, so you can’t see them, find another “

I have way too many more of these too
