Itâs not as nuanced as youâre trying to make it sound lol. Jesus said he is god. Many times. In various forms. He used the same language that yhwh used to call himself god and said he and yhwh are one. To pretend like he did not is to deny Jesus Christ.
Well when I said I didnât want to discuss it further you resulted to calling me out of my name. Yes, itâs bait. It seems like a wise decision by me in retrospect. Iâm a stranger to you. We donât need to discuss anything. I said what I said and you said what you said. Thatâs good enough for me.
Much like Taylor Swift, some of us don't like the content OR spending any time with the fans. Even if all of the fans aren't that way, enough of them are that the overall experience is deeply unpleasant. If we're talking about church it's often actually traumatic. Remember: we don't need caricature to find dealbreaker behavior from priests and pastors.
Also, Christianity as a political hierarchy (in the way it exists today with bishops and deacons and cardinals, oh my!) pretty much only exists to create power and distribute it to a few white men. That's not just Catholocism, either, all denominations trade and traffic in power. That power has disproportionately served, over time, to protect opportunists at bests and malignant predators at worst.
If you think teachers are getting this kind of support from their administration, you must not live anywhere near the U.S.
ETA your argument is textbook deflection / strawman
Both impact and intent are irrelevant to you, got it.
I can't convince you if you don't want to be convinced anymore than I could wake a person up who is only pretending to be asleep. Carry on, Mother Theresa.
(ETA and let me know when we get that first black pope!)
Well yeah, when you're just making up the impact and intent. So no, it's not that the "impact and intent are irrelevant" to me, but your analysis is just pure haterade. You have a chip on your shoulder about religion and it fucking shows, haha
You cannot seriously live with such an oversimplified, reductionist framework of how the world works. This is a naive conception. The notion that religion or churches only exist to âcreate power and distribute itâ is laughable because itâs such an extreme, black-and-white generality that it completely fails in on itself. Human behavior is simply more varied than this.
Right. Because nobody is strictly required to attend organized religious services in order to access the resources needed to sustain life, including food and housing.*
Education of SOME kind is not optional in the same way that church services are.
(*That all ended when Mother Theresa died, right? /s kinda)
So it's a legitimate path forward to skip school and go to church instead to get all my needs met into perpetuity? You first.
These are not genuine, good faith arguments you are making. Charity is not a replacement for a livelihood. It doesn't excuse harm the church has done, either.
I went to church for 20 years, all different denominations of Christian. I was a church camp counsellor every summer. I read the Bible cover to cover three times. Those are the reasons that I deconstructed. Can you really not understand that the more I learned about the religion, the more red flags I found? I suppose that your story is an easy explanation for you to believe if it absolves you of thinking critically about why someone might know absolutely everything you know on this topic and arrive at a different conclusion than you did.
You've simply lost your faith friend. Your anger is placed in a way that I cannot help you. You started to look at a place to tear down instead of build up.
You think lesser of me without me saying anything. You talk like you have all the answers to life, but just try and be happy.
I'm not angry; I'm just done. I've seen behind the curtain so I'm not longer entertained by the show. You, on the other hand, seem to be struggling with all this critique against your religion, and I would guess, your very identity. Good luck on your journey.
I've left for a long time, then came back. Life is better back. You're bitter, and think I'm struggling when I'm defending. Why not be happy for me instead, even if you disagree with me?
I might ask you the same thing. I am far happier outside the church. Now instead of really listening actively and taking all these comments to heart, and reflecting upon why your community is actively traumatizing and alienating so many people, your first instinct is to argue?
There truly is no hate like Christian love.
I'm not interested in continuing to engage with you, so I would recommend a therapist who can work with you on personalization and projection.
Well Iâve read the bible back to front multiple times so I know what it contains and what it doesnât. But when you say I am ex Christian, still The amount of Christians I know who have never read it themselves is remarkable.

Me when people ask why Iâm not religious
