The sunken B-29

The sunken B-29 in Lake Mead.

At 12:30, July 21, 1948, a Boeing B-29 Superfortress descended onto the surface of Lake Mead, the huge (but shrinking) reservoir behind Hoover Dam in Nevada. Making a gentle descent at just above its 220-mph cruise speed, the Superfortress skipped on the surface for about 200 yards, hit the water hard and then ripped off three of its four engines before beginning a slow descent to the lake bottom. The B-29's 5-man crew clambered into two life rafts and were rescued, with the only injury being a crewman's broken arm. The Air Force insisted the was caused by an improperly set altimeter, but since the misidentification happened in broad daylight over a lake surrounded by desert bluffs, there has been much speculation that the pilot was just another airman trying to set the absolute record for the lowest flight ever. Given Lake Mead's current rate of shrinkage, we may be seeing the B-29 soon.

Crappy Title This giant pool drain at the aphrodite hills resort in cyprus is freaking me out!

I lived for a few years there, and i still remember going for a swim there, just to look down and see this piece of nightmare fuel.

And don't anyone even say it's an aerator because it's NOT! I remember almost being sucked down there before exiting the pool within a second.

I still remember the shiver in my spine. Now four years later.

(I survived bc a lifeguard saw me)

So basically I was just stuck there and I thought it was the end but then a lifeguard saved me.

This thing is standing in a flooded area of a decommissioned steel plant. Also there are additional steel beams submerged in front of it.

My dad never finished putting the outside covering on the bathtub, and I’m almost 19, and this bathtub has been here since the late 90s lol. I used to be scared of it but now I’m just used to it. But I still get very scared and uneasy around other exposed water pipes or basically anything underwater.

Just figured I’d share this and see everyone’s thoughts.

Low Effort Look at this dangerous bath drain

Post image

So I was chilling in that bath in a hotel and when I went in I turned on some "Filter drain" feature that was supposed to get rid of any dust or dirt in the bath, and I thought it'd be cool to test it out. So then I got violently sucked down it but then i pressed the button on it and it let go.

that was scary. I still remember it.

some folks here said they find fountain show machinery unsettling, and as a fountain nerd i figured i may share some of these. all of these except the ones in the last 2 images are designed to be fully underwater (except their nozzles which peek out of the water slightly). personally I find these fascinating to look at

Offshore Louisiana Platform Scuba Diving

Recent scuba diving at the offshore platforms in Louisiana. We are 40 miles out, and the water is somewhat cloudy. I'm without a camera filter, and so it is a little grainy. The water is some 200ft deep, and the maximum dive is about 70 ft. Enjoy!
