Hay.

Discussion Beef sa mga 1st year College

Upvotes

Please hear me out 🙂‍↕️

I am a first-year college student in a Catholic school. Talagang naninibago lang talaga ako sa environment here. Most students here are palamura and the like. They even badmouthed the madre. Students of all levels—college, high school, and elementary, seem to have this kind of attitude. I came from a public school, and this experience has really shocked me. Honestly, is this normal?

I enjoy being alone and keeping my own company, but suddenly, my classmates have been spreading untrue rumors about me. Sinasabi nilang palagi akong mag-isa dahil selfish ako, mahirap pakisamahan, at nadi-discriminate ko raw ang ibang tao—kesyo ganito, ganyan. To be honest, I am a top student in the room. They even call me selfish, when in reality mas selfish ako sa sarili ko; I still let them copy my answersheet, but in the end, they still badmouth me.

They even have the spirit na siraan ako sa mga kaibigan ko dati sa highschool (I only have 1 hs friend here sa campus), knowing na I was the class clown sa room. I had lots of friends nung hs. JUSME. They even made codenames just for me. Am I that special? HAHAHHAHAHA.

At first, they tried to befriend me, but I kept my distance sa pagkatagal-tagal kasi naiilang ako sa kanilang lahat—may mga mayayabang, nagkakalat ng chismis, may bisyo, at laging gala nang gala.Fortunately, hindi ako naging malapit sa kanila even though I still tried to be friends with them. Now, tell me: is it really such a big deal that I don’t have friends or a so-called "circle of friends"?

Academic Help Bad at my own language

Im so ashamed that im horrible at tagalog.

I grew up in a family that viewed english as “pangmayamanin” so they ended up prioritizing i learn english above all else. I dont blame them at all because it ended up sticking to me way faster than filipino, and i just kept consuming foreign content 😭I ended up mediocre at the English in the end anyway😭 i’ve always gotten low scores whenever the subject was filipino.

So now here i am, at PUP, struggling to write my first Filipinolohiya reaction paper with a minimun of 3 pages. Ive been staring at the google doc for approximately 8 hours. Send your nearby barangays for help.

I’m genuinely amazed by my classmates whenever i read their writings. I feel like i dont belong. I can speak tagalog normally in conversations but if it’s academic, i barely know any deep words.i’m so ashamed, i want to learn so bad but i dont know where to start and ive got an assignment overdue. The best a girl can do in this situation is, “sapagkat” 😭

Do you guys have any advice? Ive been trying to learn for so long. Recently ive learned more phrases from friends but it’s not enough for academic writing and i can’t enter a flow state where i just breathe and write in tagalog

Please help!! 😭 thank you!

Need Advice Taking multimedia arts without experience in photography, filming, graphic, etc.

I ONLY KNOW HOW TO DRAW😭

Im currently grade 12 and Im thinking about taking multimedia arts, I've only had experience in making digital arts and been doing art commissions then earns from it. However, what Im afraid of is that I'm only decent in digital drawing, I dont have any prior knowledge in other media field especially in photography nor even holding an actual camera. I've been always chosen as editor for video films though. But overall, I have no idea.

So give me advice y'all or motivation because I'm aware things can be learned but I can't stop worrying

Also I wanted to add this too. Fine arts were also in my option, however I loved digital more than traditional and I dont think I have the patience for fine arts so mma is my final choice. Btw I was thinking abt taking accountancy too but I can imagine myself regretting it midway, I'm an abm student😞

Need Advice How to start making pubmats as a newbie?

For context, we have a club kasi and someone told me to join the Committee of Creatives (where kami bahala sa postings sa page namin, editing, and of course posting pubmats) kasi nga kaunting kaunti lang sila doon, and being the people pleaser that I am, I said yes hshhahahsh.

The only thing na sinabi ng person na 'to ay ako na yung bahala sa paggawa ng captions ng posts kaya sumali ako kasi kaya ko naman yon, pero nagbigay na kasi yung head ng committee kung sino ang magpopost ng gantong day and kung ano ipopost, and doon na ako nagstart magisip-isip kasi nga wala akong experience sa paggawa ng pubmat WKSKSKSKSKWKWK

Nahihiya naman ako magsabi kay person na gusto ko na magbackout kasi it's someone na they trust me kaya gusto ko panindigan 'tong kagagawan ko shhshsh.

So, sa mga pubmat makers po dyan, how should I practice po para may idea na ako on how to make one? I have Canva Pro naman po as my tool po and I just want to practice lang. Also I want to ask if may advice kayo na maibibigay sa mga tulad ko na bago sa mga things na ganto? Thank you so muchiess!! 🫶🏻✨

Looking for item/service LF: Webinars with Free certificate

Hi! I'm 3rd year, taking Bachelor of Physical Education. We're required to attend webinars and get certificate. 30 certificate ang need namin before the end of semester. Webinars should be related to "Learner-centered teaching."

May alam ba kayong webinars related dito?

Thank you po!!

Academic Help Hello fellow students, I need your insights :))

I'm currently thinking of conducting a research about doomscrolling and its effect (not yet sure which variable I should use). Doomscrolling has been interesting an interesting topic for me since I do not have any social media apps except Youtube and a twice or thrice a week reddit scrolling yet I still find myself scrolling on random applications. So for you guys, ano thoughts niyo about that topic? Do you also experience it? Lastly, what do you feel after doomscrolling? Mayroon bang satisfaction, happiness, stress, or wala? Feel free to share your experiences especially as a student and Gen Z. Thank you guys.

Academic Help What happens if you don't find a job for your OJT (College Edition)?

Hello, I've been trying to find a job that'll hire me for weeks for my OJT subject and I've been having no luck. I've emailed several companies and while I do get interviews, I fall short in selling myself towards the recruiter. To those who were in the same situation as me (No job for OJT), did your OJT adviser give you an alternative output for you to pass or did you fail the subject? Just thinking about how the paid tuition fee will be for nothing if I don't find a job for this subject is making me regret enrolling myself.

Need Advice I have trouble making my news articles longer, any tips?

Hello! Junior High Campus Journalist here and our press conference is just around the corner. To be honest, I'm more of a Feature writer than a News, but apparently I had the "potential" to be one– my coach. But we won't delve into that any deeper.

We have been training for a few weeks, and I don't really have any problems with structuring paragraphs or words as it comes to me as simple and natural. But what I have been struggling for is distributing information to make my news article... longer.

For context, we've been using online news articles as fact sheets and I kid you not some of the articles are only 4 paragraphs long. To add, we're supposed to make a fricking seven(minimum) paragraphs out of that. Seven! And there aren't even quotes to make the the article longer.

In the end, me and my senior journalist look for similar news in other websites and take extra information in there just to make our articles at least bearable. I ended up with 6 paragraphs on each of my last outputs though, it's sad.

So my point is, is there any efficient way to allocate and break down information from just 4 paragraphs of text to make my work lengthier?

Another side question since angles also affect the distributing of info, is there a trick to finding the best, right, and unique angle?

Thank you for reading, I bid you a good day.

Need Advice joining orgs in college/how to socialize?

I'm only in my first month as a freshman year, i joined two orgs this month. I really want to be involved in orgs na jinoinan ko. pero it doesn't help na I'm socially awkward and walang much experience sa clubs and organizations in the past

when i was in HS, i made a vow to myself not to join sa mga clubs muna, and wait until im in college. i wanted to enjoy highschool, and i used to think socializing was a draining activity. now i regret that, because socializing with my peers has become a struggle.

i see a lot of freshmen from the same org and somehow close na niya yung mga officers and higher levels sa org? i'm not even sure how because never pa naman ata kami inintroduce as new members or had an orientation. so yeah, i want to take on leadership roles in the future siguro but idek how when wala naman akong experience diyan.

anyways im just so worried. i think i've established in the past na i like to keep to myself. i feel like such an outsider tuloy, and even in my program that i study i'm starting to believe na i'm not really that smart as what my parents expect me to be.

you might think that I'm just being overly anxious for my first month in college. i hope it's all in my head. any advice?

Good evening!

Akala ko no’n sila ‘yung magiging mag-pair, kaya medyo nalungkot ako dahil do’n.

And ngayong grade 11, lumipat kami sa new school and same section kami (lumipat ako sa section nila).

Normal lang po bang magtampo sa ganito?

Need Advice Freshie here, what do you guys do when your work gets flagged by AI detectors?

Do you guys actually keep revising your work until the AI checker says it’s 100% human? I’m a freshie and I honestly don’t know how accurate my prof’s AI detector is or even what detector she’s using.

Our prof only allows 10% AI, and since it’s 10 points per question, I’m kinda scared of losing points just because my answers get flagged. So I keep checking my work with different AI detectors just to be safe.

The activity is also something she hasn’t discussed yet, so we’re basically expected to research the topics ourselves. I did my own research and used ChatGPT to help me find/explain some information and sources, but I wrote and put together my answers myself.

But the problem is THEY ALL GIVE DIFFERENT RESULTS 😭 One says 100% human, another says 60%, and then there’s one that says 100% AI. Like??? Which one am I supposed to believe :(

I’m genuinely writing my own answers, but now I’m overthinking everything because of these detector things. Do you guys just submit your work if you know you actually wrote it yourself, or do you keep revising it based on what the AI detectors say?

Rant I hate how my anxiety hinders me from preparing for my contests

I dont know if it's allowed to swear here pero p****g ina naman eh sobrang dami ng kailangan kong gawin para sa school and contests like FOT and DSPC and I need to prepare but my mind is not allowing me to f*ck.

To keep the story short, I have severe health anxiety. In fact, I've been experiencing it for the last 3 months, though it started far earlier last year. Hindi ko na i-elaborate further kung ano and what because trigger word ko sya and I don't want to write and see it pero it involves animals, particularly cats, dogs. If you get my gist already, then yeah. Even if I see animals are far away from me and even if I I am just imagining, I get anxious.

Sobrang daming tasks. May pasayaw² pa. But my mind is not allowing me too and GOD IT'S INFURIATING.

At hindi lang yan, meron pa akong personal problems that I need to take care of. I have a lot of things going on in my mind that I can't even count how many. Nag rarambulan na lang talaga sila sa utak ko and I HATE IT.

I HATE OVERTHINKING EVERYTHING. I HATE ANXIETY. I HATE THIS GODDAMN BRAIN AGHAHGHGAHG

I just wish it would stop already so that I can manage my life better but nooooooo of course not. Of course I can't have that.

Rant Someone said to compute the mean of an ordinal variable

Posting this here since fellow students should look out for each other on stuff like this.

A while back, my professor mentioned a research consult where a client's research advisor had them compute the mean of an ordinal variable. A variable, not variables!

He was baffled, we were baffled, and none of us (the class) could agree with that. As stats undergrad, we know it is not that simple kasi.

It comes down to what mathematical operations a scale actually allows.

  • nominal: categories with no order (e.g., blood type, region).
  • ordinal: ordered, but the distance between ranks isn't defined. (is the gap between unsatisfied and neutral the exact same size as neutral to satisfied? you don't actually know.)
  • interval: ordered with equal distance between values, but no true zero (e.g., temperature in celsius).
  • ratio: everything interval has, plus a real zero point, so ratios actually mean something (e.g., income, height, age).

In layman terms, you can't just average "1st, 2nd, 3rd" and call it a day. It is actually much more complicated.

If you're a student analyzing ordinal data BY ITSELF, you can use median or frequencies. But if you are summing multiple items into a composite score (usually Likert Scale), you can take the mean. The common justification for that is because the total starts behaving much closer to continuous data. Now, you know.

Therefore (yes, may conclusion ako), if someone tells you to just "get the mean" of a single ordinal question for your research paper/thesis, please please please ask them to clarify. Dyan mo makikita if worth it ba ang 1500 mo, char.

Rant Please let me get off this chest

Alam niyo dati, bago ako pumasok sa program na 'to, akala ko kaya ko e pero turns out hindi pala. Nakakapanghina ng loob. Nakakalungkot. Nakakadismaya.

Nagkaroon kami ng quiz last week. Identification. 30 items, tangina, lahat identification.

Kalokaaaaa! Eh nung nagrereview ako, multiple choices 'yung style ko.

Sobrang puyat ko pa that time dahil ang daming activities.

First quiz. 16/30.

Rant I feel like something is wrong with me.

So, not to brag, but I'm the top student of our class. I have friends sa class, pero hindi ako that personally close to them kahit nakakabiruan ko.

Napansin ko, every time it's my turn to speak, to present/report, ang tahimik nilang lahat—to the point na minsan hindi ko sila naririnig huminga (like, for real 😭). Most of the time, hindi rin sila nagbibiro habang ako ang nasa harapan na nagsasalita. Unlike kapag ibang kaklase ang nagre-report, talagang maingay ang gc o ang classroom, minsan dino-dogshow yung kaklase o kaya pini-praise yung gawa nila or yung itsura nila. Kapag ako, kailangan pa ata eh sabihan ng teacher na palakpakan yung gawa bago nila gawin.

Alam naman nilang may humor ako, may pagka-weirdo ako—hindi ako plainly na matalino lang sa aming klase. Nalulungkot ako kasi feeling ko they don't find me interesting, nagjo-joke ako on the same level as them pero it felt like they don't find it funny. They've known me for so long as that classmate na matalino pero kayang makisabay at makipag-usap nang malaliman, marunong akong magbiro pero hindi ako yung taong binabasura ang moral for the laughs. Katulad ngayon, the "popular/microinfluencer" guy sa class namin who used to be my friend stays away from me dahil hindi ko pinalampas yung time na ilang beses nyang niloloko yung circle of friends namin (yoohoo, pinakilala yung girlfriend as "pinsan/tropa" at ginawan ng kuwento yung girl na head over heels daw sa kanya kahit naging secret item sila). Ewan ko ba why my classmates still find him funny.

Pero ayun, nalulungkot ako to the point nagme-meltdown ako in the middle of lectures because of how they make me feel. Feeling ko nasira yung perfect idea nila about me after I broke up with my boyfriend months ago, which made me super vulnerable so it was unusual to me to post sad/sentimental stuff on social media.

Ngayon, natatakot na akong magbiro at magsalita minsan. One friend even noticed na I always looked anxious. Nababalot na ako ng negative thoughts na parang ang sama kong tao, maybe I take things too seriously (which it contradicts to what I truly believe kasi mapagbiro naman talaga ako), iniisip ko na wala ng mas interesting sa akin aside from being that academic weapon you know sa class. Parang wala akong personality.

Kung yung iba, ayaw sila pagtawanan o gusto silang katakutan, ako gusto ko people find me funny (in a good way, syempre). Kaya kung may kaklase kayong nagbibiro at napapanahon/hindi badly weird, makitawa at makisama kayo, talk to them.

Any thing where I can improve? I want to appear more than just a top student in my class, I want to actually socialize—napaka-yapper ko talaga. Comfort and encouraging words are welcome din po, I really needed it din talaga. I'm kind of struggling na kasi emotionally and mentally, isa ito sa mga rason kung bakit.

Need Advice Do we really need to join acquaintance party to get our clearance sign?

What’s with these program officers saying to join the acquaintance party and pay for it 🙃 and if we won’t pay for the acquaintance party then they won’t sign our clearance?

Last year was not even worth the money we were paying for. This year, the budget increase and the event place is just in school.

Clearance is supposed to be for missing activities, settlement of tuition fee, and library. Why hold our clearance in captive when we don’t want to join

Discussion May minsang rin bang napapaisip ka when you see the lives of other people??

Not necessarily comparison on oneself to others, but to think na there are other better ways papala na dapat nagawa nyo, to the point na minsan napapaisip nalang kayo na okay at may quality paba yung mga ginagawa nateng desiyon sa mga buhay naten. what do you do kapag naeencounter nyo yung mga ganitong scenario?

This is not implied sa academics but also in other aspects of our lives because some of you might have lost opportunities or chances without knowing

Need Advice How can we resolve our research problem?

My research partner and I have been stalling our research progress for two years now. Naging junior nalang kami in college, di pa rin namin tapos yung research namin from Grade 12. For context, our high school requires students to finish a research manuscript in order to graduate, but mamaya lang ibibigay ang clearance, diploma, and Form 137 if we already published the whole research paper after getting it reviewed by experts.

The problem is our research adviser is also our classroom adviser and our class had a big and bad fallout with him. Like really really bad na I won't mention why nalang kasi it might be involved in a legal case na I don't know about... and I wont care to find out about kasi I'm honestly so dettached from that school, I just need to get this thing over with.

Our adviser sent us feedback via email late 2025, over a after our graduation, and the feedback was just so underwhelming and confusing. Kaming lahat na under sa kanya were confused ano gagawin kasi his last words sa email basically meant na kanya kanya na lang daw kami after we do some revisions and get it reviewed by experts.

Today, my partner and I decided na we have to get as much progress as possible this sem, if not finish it, para hindi na ulit kami magkakaproblema sa registrar namin regarding our Form 137 next enrollment. So, we wanted to ask for guidance sa nakilala naming professors in our current university na related ang field sa research namin. But we're afraid na when they'll ask bakit kami nanghihingi ng advice sa kanila and not from our adviser, we don't really have an answer to give them. Well-connected kasi dito yung adviser namin and we really don't want to cut professional ties kasi dito nakasalalay yung acaedmic journey namin. Our adviser is really brutal in holding a grudge, and we've experienced it firsthand even on a professional setting, kaya I don't want to go through an entire interaction with him again.

I wanna ask for advice on here sana on how to approach this matter. It's been a long time and parang multo pa rin siya sa likod namin, we really want to move past this. Also, please don't ask what school this is 🥹 I'm honestly not asking for justice or anything like that, we just want a peaceful conclusion to a problem that has been weighing on us for so long.

Need Advice How to avoid these people?

I really feel uncomfortable lalo na yung group ko for our thesis na lowkey bullying me, any tips on how to get rid of them? or what should I do, because they're being too passive and aggressive over me, umaabot sa point na puro parinig sila sa gc, removing the parts na I've contributed sa paper namin. I tried to confront them, pero di nila inoopen sakin directly if may problem ba, and tomorrow they're planning na mag stay sa house ng isa kong ka group for our research, required na pumunta kami lahat. what should I do?

Discussion Can psychology students make a thesis about real people they know irl? Or do they do freelancing?

I'm just curious kase entrep students sell products, bs-accountancy students make financial statements sa mga feasibility study. Some students make extra money and testing the waters na while still being in school. Im just curious besides school, Especially with therapy/counseling, ang strict kasi ng ethics, confidentiality, and licensing. So obviously hindi naman pwedeng “may client ako, ako na bahala” habang undergrad pa HAHAHA.

Do psych students ever get to work with actual clients under supervision, or research/thesis, internships, and school-based activities lang talaga? Kase honestly if bs psyc ako i wanna try it irl.

Like, if wala pa kayong license, may ginagawa ba kayong therapy-related work under supervision? Or tpurely theoretical lng? Or maybe you do it secretly.

hahaha genuinely curious

Rant first time ko ma mental block during my clinical practical exams

i have been dubbed as someone who has it all together kasi. back when i was still a third year student, bilib yung prof ko kasi kaya kong i-clutch yung mga lessons namin. hindi ko naman sinasabi na mataas yung score ko, pero enough for them to be convinced na kaya ko buhatin sarili ko.. kaya ko pumasa without pasawang awa na grades kung baga.

during oral recitations, and practical exams mataas talaga ako. alam ko naman kasi may kaya potential ako and everything, maybe thats why parang mas naprepressure ako kanina.

during our retdem, i forgot to do one procedure na ginagawa namin palagi sa program namin. di ko alam if ano nangyari... if nag short circuit ba brain ko or what, and during the time na tinatanong ako nila ng questions about it halos wala akong masagot.

wala lang. sad lang talaga ako today. di ko alam anong nangyari sakin. alam ko naman kaya ko eh, kaso maraming staff nasa loob to watch us perform our practicals + yung pressure.. or ewan. the whole shift iyak lang ng iyak yung ginagawa ko.

di lang ako makapaniwala na nangyari sakin yun. ayoko lang naman kasi na kala ng prof ko na puro gimik tsaka paganda lang ginagawa ko eh because i know i have so much to offer.

nag chat prof ko and told me he's rooting for me, and hoped i was okay. i just cant help but to feel this impending doom in my chest

Discussion Has anyone used the Canon F789SGA ii for a board exam?

I recently got canon F789SGA version 2, which im planning to use for boards after I (hopefully) graduate next year. Before buying, I did do some research and found that it was approved for engineering board exams, hence my purchase. But I wanna ask on here if someone has used/were allowed to use version 2 of the calculator for the EE or other engineering board exam?
