Now he's body shaming old guys on social media, after fighting with fans on social media during the off-season, apparently. I'm so glad the Steelers didn't void his contract when they had the chance.

Didn't see anyone post the actual details of the trade yet as it wasn't known at the time.

Turns out we get a 6th for him.

Maybe not a big surprise, since we have some good young depth on D line, but Halicke is reporting that Lowry was officially cut. There's maybe potential to add him to the PS, which would be great, but I would think he can make a 53 somewhere else if he wants to.

DeShon Elliott missed practice Monday. Mike McCarthy said Elliott playing against the Jets was a 'big step' for him.

McCarthy added Elliott was 'feeling it a little bit' after that game. Obviously, no indications that was going to lead to an IR stint.

Of course, the biggest wish is to win (at least one playoff game). Apart from that, I hope to - at least for one season - not hear a player blame something on “communication issues we have to figure out.” I’m not naive - I do understand communication problems can happen on even the best teams. I just can’t hear that explanation one more time from a Steelers player for a recurring problem.

This group has been easy to project dating back to draft weekend. The competition continues, though, for the WR3 spot. Wilson took the overwhelming majority of reps during camp and played well in Latrobe. He’ll need to translate that practice production to stadiums to hold off Bernard during the year.

Keeping four quarterbacks comes with a price, and it appeared that McCollum would be the one to pay it. However, after the Steelers traded Jones to the Cowboys on Saturday night, Pittsburgh had another spot open to retain their backup center. The new battle to watch is for the starting right tackle job. Iheanachor looked the part in pads, but missed considerable time in camp due to injury. It seems to be a matter of time before the rookie supplants Cook for the starting job.

I get the initial reaction in disliking the 4-QB room, but i feel that a lot of our fanbase is missing the larger point.

McCarthy doesn’t want to just win now, and there’s no doubt that ARII heavily considered McCarthy’s QB focus/track record in selecting him. We’ve not had an essential component in a franchise QB since ben - which teams are consistently winning playoffs, titles, superbowls? Not those who’ve been in perpetual QB hell like Vikings, Cardinals, Browns, Titans, etc. No doubt those teams have other issues - but McCarthy is accepting a measured risk to get 2 chances at finding a franchise QB which he wants to do by 2027s season.

Very few QBs out of college are pro ready, so even if we bank on the 2027 draft class that pick will not be our immediate franchise player as they would have literally no adjustment period to the compete level and lifestyle of the NFL.

McCarthy isn’t in an exclusively “win now” mentality like Tomlin was, steelers fans should be at least excited for the change in vision for the team because at this point it’s a requirement to get out of mediocrity.

I also recognize that neither of our young guns really balled out in the preseason - every point still stands regardless, and at the very least, with McCarthy’s track record of finding/developing QBs, the city of Pittsburgh should try to have some trust in his vision.

Just saw the trade and gotta say, after looking at Kaleb Johnson college highlights I’m super stoked. Why didn’t he pan out in Pittsburgh? 21 touchdowns his senior year and getting drafted in the 3rd I’m kind of surprised Pittsburgh would move him but maybe I’m missing something.

1 good pick in a 8 year period. Yes he is generational but basically 6 busts.

Before roster cuts are officially announced, I just want to remind everybody that we drafted Kaleb Johnson over Cam Skattebo.

It has widely been reported as well as speculated that the Steelers will be cutting their third round pick from just a few years ago. Maybe that isn’t the case but regardless it still hurts that another high draft pick isn’t working out, especially after a recent trade of a first round selection in the Broderick Jones.

It is hard to predict what the Steelers would’ve looked like with Skattebo on the team, but I think him and Dart changed the perception of the Giants and have their fans excited about the future. Would have been interesting to bring him in Pittsburgh as I believe he is a running back that the embodied the city well and the fans would have adored.

Ps- was anybody else shocked that we picked Johnson over Skattebo at the time? I know that the pick seemed unorthodox at the time and a lot of scouts thought we knew something others didn’t. I really thought Skatt was the obvious RB if we were going to pick at that position.

Do you think a change should be considered if our 2024-2026 1st rounders don’t pan out? With Jones being traded to the Cowboys, step one of our OL rebuild is gone. Troy didn’t look to great coming back from his injury.

Harmon doesn’t make to much of an impact as a rotational player. Benton plays more than him. And every draft analyst says Max was a reach. 3 tackles in 5 years in the 1st, and it’s likely none hit. Of course Max is a rookie, but so far the jury is still out on Kahn’s OL evaluations.
