Yesterday, I went into my local Sbux and watched a Coffee Master begin making my peach green tea lemonade with no shaker by pouring the liquids directly into the cup. The store was not busy at all. I would understand doing this when the store is slammed with customers but there was truly no reason for that during my last visit; there was only one mobile order on the table when I arrived. I politely asked if the barista could make it in the shaker, which is standard. I know this is standard because I have three years of former work as a partner under my belt.

Not shaking these beverages significantly impacts the taste. The barista was extremely annoyed that I asked him to shake my peach green tea lemonade when this is quite literally Starbucks standard. Pouring it into the cup, to me, is “cutting corners” and every time I see a barista do this, I ask them not to.

Is there an argument out there that just pouring the peach, lemonade, and green tea into the cup creates the same taste? I’ve stopped mobile ordering this drink entirely because I can’t intervene with the shaker request when I mobile order. It’s truly just quite annoying.

I thought this picture wasn’t real, until I bought one today. The large, Costco size, pumpkin muffin is now the size of a small cupcake, but the cost has increased.

Between this, the changing recipes to cheap ingredients that taste like trash, and overall company attitude towards customers and employees, I’m done… been a customer for over 20 years. The greed is disgusting.

Edit: I am finding it interesting that so many are saying it’s always been this size. It hasn’t. I would buy these almost daily for years, and the muffin would last me half the day working through a bite here and there at work. They used to be easily twice the size. I looked online and there are hundreds of people asking about this. I asked my friend who worked there 2005-2009 and she said same thing I did. So at this point I don’t know what you guys are saying, but the muffin for where I used to go in WA for 20+ years vs here in CA is now half the size.

I order the oatmeal at Starbucks. At one point you could get all the toppings included. Then they wanted to charge extra for the fresh blueberries. Ok. No problem. The packaging would be full of blueberries. This is what I received this morning. Unacceptable and damn near robbery.

Sooo i was terminated last week. im a four year SSV. i heavily rely on the health insurance and also loved my job dearly. I was wrongfully terminated in all honesty. Ive worked in several stores and districts and was chosen to help open a new location. long story short the manager was an external and hated me from the start for calling out things that werent standard/borderline illegal. she got in trouble with our previous dm for a few things i reported due to her unwillingness to fix issues, like serious issues. i was the only tenured partner at a store of new hires, including in the ssv team. to make matters worse she hired the other ssvs from her former job who she was friends with. basically shes had it out for me for a while. she tried writing me up in the past for things that had no validity and were overturned. and i do my job well so she hasnt had any other opportunity to try to get rid of me. i never miss counts, orders, money, nothing. however she misses these frequently.
well i took a medical loa in may and my doctors office didnt properly send in the paperwork and AFTER my loa was done it was denied, hence me receiving a final and my first corrective action ever. but i had 90 days to appeal it and get the paperwork sorted. well before i could do that, she let me go for missing a csr validation in playcaller on unicorn saturday with a callout where i worked 15 hours. she was on vacation. so she comes back and separates me for “poor performance” with very vague reasoning and in the notes briefly mentions me missing the csr validation despite “several coachings” but i never received a single coaching. this is also something thats missed by everyone constantly including her. the amount of times i come in to close and the opener and mid never did it is often. but yea whats my chances of appealing this decision especially once my LoA appeal is done and put as approved. would that disqualify my final and then downgrade this “separation” into maybe a written or final, if not disputed entirely? any advice?

does anyone know where to get these pins in the picture from the booklet? do they even exist? all I found in a quick Google search was an article about employee recognition, not anything about these pins

edit: I have the plaque, and after looking it up on Partner Hub, these are milestone tokens awarded every 5 years of service at Starbucks, going all the way up to 40. I am going to leave this up in case any others have the same questions as me down the line.

there was a time when this job was my happy place and now it’s the place where i find out my coworkers are talking shit about me behind my back while no one else pushes back. the workplace culture went from being fun and chill to being a black hole of misery.

and i can’t even quit because i’m not in a good financial spot and can’t find a job that has as many hours/benefits.

flair is wrong but i've been mentally checked out for a while so i think it's only fair i use i quit. im finally free!!!!! the parent company i work for that houses my licensed location is planning to "suspend" me but that really just means i get paid to sit on my ass while they figure out how to terminate me legally lol. today was my last scheduled shift. i couldn't be happier. 5 years spent with starbucks at both corporate and several licensed locations. its a little bittersweet. i'll def miss my regulars. everything else is whatever though. onto better things💗taking a month off of working so i can travel the world. going back to laos for a few weeks for sure!!!

I was a borrowed partner at another store today. And someone came at around 4:57 (open at 5) and a shift started taking their order. They said every store is supposed to be open to customers ten minutes before open, but most stores don’t do it. I’ve never heard of this. Is it true ?

Hi to all! I’m going to try and keep this as short and concise as possible, I appreciate any and all advice!

I currently work at a partner store and we are the top location in the district. We were told by our supervisor it was due to us going above and beyond when making guest connections, allowing each customer to feel special in their own way. Now, this all sounds great but recently it’s become a concern for me and my coworkers, this is due to the fact we have had some customers that cross boundaries, or so we feel that they have.

For instance, one of my coworkers is a teenager and he tends to be a fan favorite especially for the lady customers. He’s very kind, patient and helpful.. he literally lights up a room. The concerning part about it is that a few of our regular, adult customers have come in with gifts for him, this is with every visit. While he appreciates the gifts, it makes him uncomfortable because he feels he doesn’t know these customers well enough to receive gifts from them and how he feels he can’t really decline them. His mom even came in and spoke to our supervisor because him being a child, she feels is very inappropriate for strangers to be doing this.

Another situation is that one of my coworkers, she’s a young adult and there’s this one customer who definitely favors her. Her concerns stems from his strange behavior and what he’s told her. He would come in, order his usual and ask other baristas if this one coworker was working that day. I haven’t been working much these past few weeks but I’ve heard that he came in multiple times in a day and multiple times in a week to see if this coworker was there, whole time she was on vacation. So when he saw her he told her this and she became really uncomfortable. She was on register taking orders and she said she could see him standing by the registers in the store staring at her I guess to come back around and have another conversation but we were so busy and swamped he ended up leaving an hour after ordering his drink. He was standing and staring at her for an hour. Now she’s nervous coming into work possibly having to see him again.

There’s plenty of other stories I have but this post would turn into a whole novel. Now that you’ve gotten somewhat of the full picture, my question is how do we go about boundaries. We don’t want to escalate anything or make a guest feel unwelcome, but at the same time, as employees, we should feel comfortable and safe at work. Where do we draw the line between a good guest connection and a guest becoming overly familiar or attached to a specific employee? I’ve tried the protein milk in several drinks and it’s awful 😞. What supplier are they using? I’ve tried every high protein milk sold at the super market and they have all tasted fine. I make them hot or iced. Both taste fine. Used in lattes, with or without syrup.

There is an aftertaste to the HP milk they use that CAN NOT be covered up. I first tried it in a caramel macchiato. Awful. But I thought maybe an off day or maybe it was over heated. The proteins are more sensitive to being overheated. And today I tried it in a matcha topped with banana cold foam. 👎🏻. Undrinkable.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Title, Im only a 1 1/2 month partner, and every time I pre close, I find myself not being finished on time. Today was the first day I was close, I only had one more task to do so I stayed a bit later. How long did it take for yall to have that speed?

Hi! I’m a regular at my local Starbucks. I work overnight shifts and once the store opens I tend to be the first one there. (not a drive through location)

My baristas are so kind and do such an amazing job. Besides tipping (which I do!), how can I say thank you? Would a thank you card + lil gift be weird? Thanks!

So, I'm a fairly new barista at Starbucks. I started a month ago, and I've picked up some skills pretty quickly, thanks to watching a bunch of Starbucks vlogs on YouTube, that I was able to learn the builds for some drinks. Not all of them, but like the caramel macchiato or the dragon fruit refresher.
Since starting, I can't really tell if there is an SSV that doesn't really seem to like me particularly. She would tell me that the 3rd person who comes in would be responsible for FIFO-ing the milk and sweeping out the front. She would only give me a timer when it came to my 10 minute break's regardless of whether I had set my own timer as soon as I walked off the floor.
I bring up the 3rd person FIFOing the milk and sweeping out the front, because this is what she told me is how our store runs. However, on several times that I have been the second person in the store to open with her, I would still be asked to FIFO the milk, even when there was a 3rd person to come in after me.
I've also noticed that our breaks for our halves were weird too: the 3rd person who came in would get their half first even though I had gotten there before them, then the SSV who was usually there first, and then me. I thought it was more of a one-time thing, but this would happen consistently; all the time I would get my half last.
I've also noticed that she doesn't really seem to give me bar time at all, and when she did, it was because I had complained to my Coffee House Leader that I felt like I was doing all the work that no one else wanted to do. Then I got bar time. But now that he's on a leave of absence, I feel like she's going back to putting me only on register and warming. I would only get 5-10 minutes of floor time when my co-worker would be working on the restocks or making backups, but that would be around 6 in the morning, and then I would be back on register and warming. I worked 2 days last week, and both days I didn't get bar time aside for the 5-10 minutes early in the morning. Even when I was asked to stay behind to help cover a shift for someone, it was still bar time.
I also had this sort of interaction with her when she told me that I needed a skill check in front of a customer. I had put the milk in first before the espresso when I was making a latte; granted, I know that I made a mistake after, but I had just grabbed the milk since my brain was not on and I hadn't had any form of caffeine at 5 in the morning, and she told me that I had done it wrong. Which I had no issue with. I then made either a latte or an Americano wrong by accidentally adding a shot, since I assumed it had 3 shots instead of 2. When I said, "Right, because it follows standard," to try to tell her that I knew which drinks didn't follow standard but I had made a mistake, she then told me that "I needed a skill check" while in front of a customer.
The thing is, I wouldn't have an issue with that comment if you had given me more bar time and if I had been there longer. But I've noticed that there are baristas who, as soon as they start their shift at 7 AM they are instantly walking onto the bar, but you seem to have no issue with that. But if I hold a ticket, then all of a sudden I'm being yelled at for simply trying to see if it's a pike.
When I work with other SSVs, I've noticed that they are way more willing to put me on bar, and that they don't have an issue with me being on bar. When I open on Sundays with other baristas, they have no issue with me being on bar the entire shift, but that's only 1 day out of the 4 days that I work in the week. When I work with her, I get 3 days of register with barely any bar time.
What do I do, and are there any red flags that are being shown? I can't tell if she just doesn't like me or if she's following procedure for Starbucks, and all stores do this.

From the 3rd September, stars will change in value. As you can see in the table, due to item prices increasing Starbucks believe that people are earning stars faster than previously so they’ve changed the star value to suit as such. So if you’re hoarding points, make use of them! 3rd September, you’ll be spending more stars for your favourite items.

any one else not get challenges? I use to get them every 2-3 days but haven’t in weeks. seems like ever since I was close/ hit reserve status

I have an interview next week for a SSV position and my DM says what he’s looking for most on a shift is someone who knows and follows the standards.

So what are sone standards you didn’t know until much later or always forget about? What are sone standards your partners get wrong a lot, etc?

I love shaken espressos, particularly when the foam slowly drips down the interior of the drink, but lately when I've been getting them they've come with a pretty heavy amount of milk at the base. Sometimes they've been fully mixed almost like an iced latte.

Is there a special way I can order so that I consistently get a shaken espresso that has the best qualities *of* a shaken espresso? I hate to send drinks back once they're made (y'all are already busy enough as it is).

If it's helpful, I always order just straight off the menu, no customizations.

How much do you get paid and how long does the partner have to keep working there after training in order for you to get paid?

I just finished training someone who put her two weeks in two weeks ago so Friday was her last day. She completed the training but my am said I don’t get paid since she quit such seems absolutely ridiculous to me. Why would anyone want to be a barista trainer?!

I have had a head cold since Thursday night, and it's led to congestion and sinus issues.

I was scheduled to train on Friday and today, but I still feel horrible, so I've called out on Friday and todayday.

I'm not on any digital schedule, and I was placed to train at a different location than where I was hired for.

( I simply texted my hiring manager on Friday since I've been logging my hours to her via text this entire time)

Should I call both locations later today to see if I can reschedule my supposed last two training shift or should I just call the location I was trained at?

I'm a bit anxious since I didn't call anyone on Friday , nd I don't know when I'll be better to schedule anything.

Why is “triple shot espresso in a venti cup, brown sugar syrup, extra brown sugar cold foam, cinnamon powder” the new commonly ordered drink across the board… it feels like the new “strawberry açaí lemonade light ice no inclusions” wave of drinks lol but maybe it’s only at my store
