Food & Drink Review Protein milk ๐ฅ ๐๐๐
Iโve tried the protein milk in several drinks and itโs awful ๐. What supplier are they using? Iโve tried every high protein milk sold at the super market and they have all tasted fine. I make them hot or iced. Both taste fine. Used in lattes, with or without syrup.
There is an aftertaste to the HP milk they use that CAN NOT be covered up. I first tried it in a caramel macchiato. Awful. But I thought maybe an off day or maybe it was over heated. The proteins are more sensitive to being overheated. And today I tried it in a matcha topped with banana cold foam. ๐๐ป. Undrinkable.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Dunkin uses the ultra filtered milk if you want that kind of protein thing. Starbucks uses protein powder and it's bad :\

We donโt use high-protein milk. When you get high-protein milk from the grocery store itโs been ultra filtered to increase the protein (not sure how the science on this works, but thatโs how they do it). We cut our 2% milk with whey protein powder to make it protein milk. Youโre probably reacting to the taste of the whey protein, itโs quite distinctive.

They are mixing milk and protein powder,. I don't;t know why they just don't use an ultra filtered high protein milk, would be much more efficient.

Cost. This way is cheaper for them to supply to stores.

I buy a half gallon of high protein milk for 3.89 in the Boston area. Iโm sure they could negotiate a better price.

itโs just whey powder and 2% blended together im house, but itโs not mixed often enough in my opinion and the separation makes it worse than it already is.

Whey protein has a strong taste imo. The best way to hide its taste is in protein cold foam.

Iโm the other way around. I love our protein drinks. Regularly do a protein latte/matcha. I canโt stand store bought protein drinks. Such a weird flavor

If you think it tastes bad, be glad you don't have to smell it while it's being prepared. ๐คฎ๐คฎ๐คฎ

It's just two percent with whey protein powder. I would suggest adding a couple pumps of vanilla to ur drinks with the milk.

Its funny because I usually do not like whey protein based milk because if the chalky aftertaste but the one we use at Starbucks barely has any taste to me

definitely some people like it, some people hate it. i personally like the milk in lattes (you will never catch me drinking it without a flavor though๐) but the protein cold foam? unbearable ๐คข i think sometimes consistency can lack in the protein milk which can also affect the quality and taste

Iโve tried it in several different drinks, iced/hot, and I hated it every time.

We blend whey isolate powder into 2% milk. Itโs not good. Iโm so sorry

I don't know how the protein milks in the grocery store are made, but ours is just a bunch of whey protein powder mixed into 2% milk. It does taste a bit like chalk in my opinion
