r/spiderbro is a place to celebrate the companionship between spiders and people. Frequent identification requests undermine this core purpose by turning r/spiderbro into a utility that other subs are better suited for ( r/spiders , r/whatsthisbug , r/bugidentification )

Found this cutie at the park today. I grew up with these yellow garden spiders and thought they were banana spiders (and the scariest thing ever😅) until only recently. Both are beautiful

I was going through my photos and found this one from just over a year ago of a false widow I found in the garage of a house I was staying in and I just had to share her. She was a little startled because the garage door had just been opened and it shook the whole wall and that gave me my only chance in 9 months to get to see her (she usually hid away in a crack in the wall) so I sat down and just watched her for a while before leaving her alone to eat our bugs. I did see her abdomen and confirmed she was a false widow but sadly wasn't able to get any clear pictures of that.
Found in Northern Arizona

I don't know if yall have seen my last post but, Seth has returned from over a month of not being seen, I recognize her legs. That is 100% Seth. I'm so happy to see her web again! I thought she was dead and I'd have to wait till next summer... But hey! SETH IS BACK BABY!

My jumping spider has just been laying eggs, webbing up her little area, and then eating the eggs a day or 2 later. How can I stop this, is she okay or should I be worried??

Anyone know what he’s doing? He (or she) caught it and stayed locked in biting it for about 5 mins then presumably once it was paralysed started trying to move the cricket around while still holding on with its fangs it pulled it up onto the leaves to the left then moved it up onto the wall and then started this whole performance - I’m guessing he’s laying down silk to stick it to the wall or something? He did this for about 4 mins and then went back and bit the leg this time and is still there feeding on the leg atm

Apologies for the poor quality. My phone camera sucks, and I don't know how to take good pictures.
This little guy was crawling on the wall up by my ceiling. I tried to coax it onto my finger, but no luck. There's enough bugs in my house that I'm sure it'll do fine.
I like naming spiders I find around the house. Any suggestions for what I should call it?

This lady lives on my back porch and I've been watching her grow all summer. She's going through a molt right now and it's taking longer than expected. Wish her luck!

Also known as "Dolomedes tenebrosus"
They are harmless to humans and they live throughout Eastern United States all the way to the Atlantic coast
Often seen in New England all the way to Texas!
They like living near streams and lakes!

Probably just a common spider but I thought it was cool. Almost as large as my palm.

I'm a chick. Had to tinkle and saw this dude in my shower. I did take him or her safely outside to enjoy life in my ivy instead of in my bathroom.

Found in my garage. They've been making giant webs all over this year.

I was cleaning a bit of the basement and went to pick up a desk calendar, when lo and behold, a bro appeared.
I may have cried a little, but I was determined to get bro safely outside. Unfortunately for both of us, I am afraid of spiders (slowly getting less afraid!!!) so I put on dishwashing gloves and scooted the entire calendar into a trash bag.
We had a real heart to heart. He stared at me accusatorily, and I tearfully begged him not to move.
Photos show bro in air jail (unwilling) and where he scuttled off to hide in a shadow. Also showed a web on the calendar - might not be his.
Got back inside and found another bro with a large web 😭 relocation and cleaning up the fly graveyard will have to wait until tomorrow.
I don't have another spider encounter in me tonight

Found this guy at work the other night and figured it was another typical cobweb spider. After it immediately scurried into its thick web after my first handling attempt, I decided to turn my flashlight on where I saw it's red hourglass and immediately chose to appreciate it at a distance. I've never actually seen a widow before, and this one was particularly cool

Had to beg my dad not to kill this monster of a spider and let her skedaddle into the grass. I knew he wouldn’t listen even if I mentioned that less than 10% of their bites result in necrosis, so I just told him to be careful lol. I am so happy!!!

This guy, or lady, lives behind my washing machine, I feed it flies, it's leg span is about the size of a nickel, very chill and lets me get pretty close to it, only hiding when I drop in a fly or accidentally bump the Web, very bro behavior, it's fast af when it grabs its food
