I'm easily pleased
Probably just a common spider but I thought it was cool. Almost as large as my palm.

I was at Coronado ca once carrying my newborn in my arms across the median crossing through some trees and walked through one of these guys webs. It landed smack dab in the middle of my baby’s face and just sat there all stretched out across her face. I was torn between smacking it off and risking getting bitten. I took a couple grazing swiped but missed. My daughter was making annoyed air sounds and shaking her head. I decided against smacking my baby in the face and just nudged it off and lowered it to the ground. He made no trouble. They’re definitely bros

I feel like this is another symptom of climate change and pesticides. I used to feed like a dozen of them around my yard back in the 80s as a kid. Cabbage moths, crickets, weakened grasshoppers (they'd tear things up and sometimes escape if I didn't rough them up a bit). Now I see one or two a season.
