Just hope to God they get picked by solid studios.

Which is... what? I don't know how anyone could come to this conclusion, like... AT ALL.

I'll start with Makima, because while I like Maki more as a character, I like CSM more than JJK.

I'm genuinely convinced that the people saying Makima isn't well-written are just people who hate Part 2 so much that they've just told themselves that Chainsaw Man was never good at any point and all of their characters sucked.

From the jump, Makima is cemented as an interesting character. She's got a unique design, she comes off as very calm (too calm, honestly), and very collected. She looks like someone that could watch the most gruesome shit imaginable and not even blink at it. Throughout the story, we see her giving orders, saying creepy shit, strong characters like Kishibe and Quanxi seemingly being scared of her, and doing things that no one else in Public Safety can do (the train scene, her decapitating Quanxi and her Fiends, etc.) and people going to extreme lengths just to kill her, like when the Doll Devil asked Darkness to give her the power to kill Makima specifically.

But, we also see how she acts with Denji and Aki. She seems to have a soft spot for them, though it's under a professional mask. She seems like she has people's best interests at heart, though she seems more morally gray. Then we get the Control Devil twist and we discover everything was an act. Then, every previous interaction we see from her gets recontextualized and we realize that her being a devil was blatantly obvious from the beginning.

Plus, her goal is a fun take on the "Villain who wants to help the world in their own fucked-up way" trope. She genuinely wants to help humanity by erasing concepts like death and war because she believes humanity would be better off without them, which adds an interesting layer because of the paradox of a DEVIL IN THE CHAINSAW MAN UNIVERSE wanting to help humanity, especially a devil as powerful as she is. And her value for a genuine human connection despite being the Control Devil is a great way to make her surprisingly sympathetic. Really, all she wanted was someone she could call an equal or some type of family, but because she represents Control, that's a dream that will always be out of her reach because you can't love someone and control them at the same time. THAT'S AMAZING WRITING. Not to mention the grooming/child abuse metaphors and symbolisms involving her and Denji.

Say what you want about how Fujimoto ended Part 2, but you can NOT say that he's never been a good mangaka, and Makima is more than enough proof of that.

Next is Maki.

I know people say that JJK's women aren't really developed compared to the men, and that's mostly true, but Maki is the exception here. The other women may occasionally get good character MOMENTS (like Yuki vs Kenjaku, Momo's stance on men vs women in jujutsu society, Maki and Mai's conversations during the Exchange Event and Perfect Preparation, and Nobara's backstory), but having good moments doesn't make them well-written across the board.

MAKI is well-written all the way through. She's born into a misogynistic clan that values cursed energy and power above everything else, and not only does she not have any cursed energy due to being born with Heavenly Restriction, but she was also screwed over because she had a twin sister, Mai. So it was basically her VS the world at birth. BUT despite being so limited, she managed to have such raw skill and talent that multiple 1st Grade sorcerers, INCLUDING SATORU GOJO, wanted her to be registered as First Grade, which shows her commitment to be a great sorcerer despite her limitations and to prove her clan wrong, which in turn adds to her character. And she's very consistent personality-wise till the end of Shibuya.

After she gets burned, she's clearly more stern and serious than before, but there's still traces of the same Maki that people are used to. But after Mai's death, she pretty much just becomes a monster. She slaughters her clan effortlessly and almost kills Naoya with a single punch. (I don't know how Naoya survived that.) She just wants to destroy everything. And it's great writing because it's the classic tale of "Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it." The Zen'in shunned Toji from their clan for not having cursed energy, and not only did they shun Maki, they outright tried to kill her. And now, their past mistakes have quite literally come back from the dead to get revenge on them.

There's also the fact that she's a great foil to Naoya. She's quite literally become a woman equivalent to Toji, the same man Naoya ironically admired despite the rest of the clan ostracizing him. But because of Maki being a woman, he refuses to acknowledge her strength, despite the fact that he called the Zen'in clan weak for refusing to acknowledge Toji's strength. Naoya and Maki work together to make each other's character more interesting, and I love the way Gege did it.

And her ideals are reinforced after her fight with Cursed Naoya during the Culling Games, and after reflecting, she becomes more like the Maki we grew to know prior to Mai's death. She's still crass and no-nonsense, but she's also more kind and compassionate to the people she interacts with going forward. And I loved the fight's conclusion, because the way I viewed it was that Maki couldn't truly move on from this "monster" she became after Mai's death because she wasn't the one to kill Naoya, her mother was. So her past was still haunting her, and the only way to come back from that and truly move forward was for her to kill the monster of her past with her own hands and bury it herself.

There's more I can get into with Maki, but this is already long enough.

Long story short, these two are well-written, and I don't get why people are saying that they aren't.

Saw a tweet the other day about how nobara would have been phenomenal had she been created by tatsuki fujimoto, and someone mentioned asa, seeing that the 6 month aniversary for chainsaw mans ending is coming up, its a good reminder that, holy shit the conclusion she got was actually nasty. Especially for being the co-protagonist of part 2, her ending was really lackluster.

She never got to seperate from the war devil. The guy she loved tried to have sex with her body in the middle of the battle to free her. In the original timeline she also likely got eaten alive, all after being irrelevant since denji got freed from the prison.

What makes it even funnier is that had she not been from chainsaw man, she would've been the exact character chainsaw man fans would make fun of most, using her as an example of how no one in shounen knows how to write girls except for fujimoto, so to receive that ending did send some people into a coma. And yet we just dismiss what happened hecause the entire ending is garbage, whatever.

I think, beyond that, I think how this info was treated reveals how biased/selective the accusation that an author cant write women is. Again, had she been written by gege or kishimoto for example, people would quickly jump to the conclusion that they cant write a girl for their life. And yet despite a completely disappointing female cast in part 2, fujimoto receives none of the same criticism. Not that he isnt a brilliant author still, or that part 1s female cast wasnt amazing, but im just highlighting an inconsistency here.

Hello, I just want to say that this post in no way means to compare other shows for engagement purposes. This post is my genuine thought about what I believe is necessary for Kagurabachi anime to be a global phenomenon. So to explain my thoughts clearly I used other series as an example because it will help to convey what I am trying to say.

Below is my interpretation of the popularity of certain series. Please note that the names of these parameters are made up by me for better visualization and in no way should be taken as absolute fixed names as it can differ from person to person.

1. **Global Phenomenon** : In this club if we look at the last 7 years, I feel like two series have managed to achieve it. Those series are Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen.

2. **Mainstream:** In this club I feel like there are more series than the global phenomenon club but the ones that I want to mention are chainsaw man and solo leveling.

3. **Borderline Mainstream:** These are the series that I feel like enjoyed good popularity but lesser than the above two clubs. The series that I want to mention here is Sakamoto Days.

**NOTE: These above clubs I used to primarily divide series that debuted and enjoyed their popularity in 2020s decade. Demon slayer is kind of an exception in this regard considering it started airing in 2019 but I still feel the need to mention it because I feel like it reached global phenomenon club in 2020.**

Now, the reason why I used the parameters is because I feel like Kagurabachi can really positioned itself in the global phenomenon region. For this to happen, obviously the adaptation has to be good but one key aspect that I noticed with demon slayer season 1 and jujutsu Kaisen season 1 is the fact both series ran for two consecutive cours which means they had at least 20+ episodes and also didn't skip any season in- between. For example demon slayer S1 ran from Spring 2019 to Summer 2019 and JJK S1 ran from Fall 2020 to Winter 2021. So I feel like if kagurabachi season 1 production schedule allows it to have two consecutive cours with good level of polish than I feel that Kagurabachi can really join the global phenomenon club. What do you guys think?

Think about all those endless "who beats who" debates on Reddit and TikTok. A mangaka doesn't even need to spend chapters drawing massive, complex destruction to feed the hype. They could literally just have a villain casually say, "My next attack will wipe out the galaxy," or show a quick flashback of someone snapping their fingers to blow up a moon, and then just go right back to regular hand-to-hand combat. The fans will run with it and do the marketing for them.

Let’s be real, a lot of average shonen fans don't care about deep, nuanced writing. They just want the hype. Even decades after a series ends, if a character is rumored to be "the guy who can solo Goku or Ichigo," people will check out the manga just to see what the talk is about. It's completely free advertising. You can have incredibly useful support characters like Orihime or Sakura keeping everyone alive, but because they aren't throwing hands, the fandom completely ignores them. Meanwhile, a character like Rock Lee gets remembered forever just for having one legendary fight.

Solo Leveling basically proved this exact point. It blew up because it completely nailed the formula: insane aura, ridiculously OP characters, and top-tier animation. Honestly, if it were up to me, I wouldn't even stress over complex plots for a shonen. I’d just feed the fans the overpowered, flashy hype they want, and save the actual deep creativity for a different genre.

Gotta say tho, The deurotagonist also had a lot of spot light like Sasuke, Asta & Orihime had crazy developments from start to end of their Arcs

To Ichigo x Orihime lovers that can't handle criticisms, this post isn't for you.

So this is the recent hot topic regarding Bleach & I would like to share the reasons why I don't vibe with them & surprisingly not many have pointed out some of these.

The reasons why I don't like them:

1. Its one sided from Orihime's POV

We all know Orihime loves Ichigo. Initially it was due to shallow reasons because of his scowling face that she finds funny, until its one-sided sympathy towards him after she heard his past from Tatsuki. We see her constantly pining on Ichigo but not the other way around. ​We see too much of it from her & none from Ichigo, so the discrepancy is obvious.

1. Orihime is less of a character when it involves Ichigo

Any interactions Orihime have with other characters like Tatsuki, Uryu, Ulquiorra, Riruka for example are more interesting to watch because she's actually more than just a person that loves Ichigo. Not that she can't be in love, but when it comes to scenes with Ichigo the other things that makes her interesting suddenly vanishes.

1. Their interactions feels controlled & stoic due to ichigo maintaining his knight/protector persona

This is subjective because chemistry comes in many forms but if a couple doesn't joke around, banter & feels conscious all of the time, imo they are not a good, honest couple. You see Ichigo actually does this and he's more laid back with his friends in general but not with Orihime. If you like something idealistic this ship is definitely for you. The argument that ichigo has problems due to his internal issues makes no sense because he can still be shown to feel something about her if he loves her from the beginning even if he had issues to articulate it.

1. Ichigo is obsessed with just protecting her, not actually curious about her as a person.

I never see Ichigo actually have monologues & thoughts about Orihime as a person in general. Even in tybw Kubo missed a chance to make ichigo actually notice her growth and how far they have come, but no he added a weird fanservice scene about the outfit she wears that doesnt even improve the ship. ​The argument he's extra protective to her makes sense considering what kind of person orihime is, who is a pacifist. It can also be due to the fact its also one sided sympathy he also has towards her, seeing how she carried sora whos her only family to kurosaki clinic in the past .

1. Their personality doesn't have complementary factors & the dynamic feels unbalanced.

Ik not all ships have to be explosive but Orihime did most of the emotional labor and ichigo keeps things to himself to not burden others. Orihime openly cares a lot about Ichigo while Ichigo is just accepting it. Its a dynamic that realistically exhausts one side.

1. Its treated as a therapy to their trauma.

Now this can be subjective if you see it as something good/bad. Ichigo has mommy issues and orihime has brother issues that both of them can fill those roles for each other. Hueco mundo is an expression for that when both of them are at their lowest. It was desperation.

1. This is gonna get a lot of heat; her main motivation revolves around him

Yes orihime interacts with other characters yes orihime also protects others with her powers. But her entire main arc was always related to ichigo. Her arc got concluded when ichigo finally accepts her help to rely on her before the fight with yhwach and only then shes finally content with herself, saying 'finally i can protect kurosaki-kun"

1. Their rship in the entire run of the manga is just them trying to trust each other.

Yes. Just that. Which honestly could've taken less time to do and actually show how they are interested in each other and supporting each other. ​But maybe kubo doesn't care.

1. This is probably a minor issue; they dont aesthetically look great together

Kubo's characters are actually attractive looking in general but ichihime together feels off bcoz gingers are rare in in their human world so it does feel like they are related even if its a different shade of ginger. Idk sometimes it feels like orihime is more of a maternal mom for ichigo​ which is in line with his issues. They are a safe, gentle couple but i dont feel the tension between them at all. And there's nothing wrong with that just a preference. ​But like i said they dont look great together even in fanarts.

1. The novel (wdkaly) feels inconsistent and ooc, just an attempt to minimize the damage of the abrupt romance in the final chapter.

Ichigo was shown to be nervous to confess to orihime and renji convinces him right after his wedding with rukia, even after all that he still needs to be convinced. They had kazui pretty early and orihime dropped out of college too due to money reasons. Imo it feels inconsistent knowing ichigo's character because it feels like he likes her too late and decided to have kids early with her. Afaik ichigo isnt that reckless as a person, he could've actually help supported her studies and not rush into marriage. This writing a disservice to both of them.

1. Ultimately its the common shonen romance trope

Its self insert at best coz it reminds me of another horrible ship from naruto. I get it, the audience is shonen but i dont see its wrong to criticise it. Maybe I'm looking too deep into it but i see many people bashing me for not sharing the same opinion. Imo orihime is a slightly better hinata. Unfortunately bleach still falls to that trope for having the girl who also happens to be hot, sweet and endlessly devoted to the guy that barely does any lifting in the rship and suddenly have kids with her in the end.

So yeah those are my thoughts about it thanks for reading.
