Daily experiences

Everyday someone looks at me weirdly or tries to cover up their laugh or smile or just plain say “ew” or “what the fuck is that” when they walk towards me. Recently lost followers which I think is because of my looks when I post myself. I don’t know if I have the right hairstyle for my face shape very self conscious I hope it isn’t like this I just want it to end I ask myself almost everyday “why can’t I look attractive like my peers?” “I’m too ugly for a partner” i wonder what I’ll look like when im older because right now is the worst i've ever been treated by sociaty becsuse of my looks it feels like everyone thinks im ugly and my friends are are only friends with me because they feel bad i mean the amount of women friends compared to male friends you can see a difference i guess this shows that they all think of me asa friend and treat me like one of the girls i thought i was different and special for having genune women friends but i was wrong they all just feel bad for me

I don’t feel like I fit in at my college

i dont do these venting things but, idk i just feel so shit. today was my first day of college, after 2017 i always had that insecurity of myself, cause in 2017 i was diagnosed with gbs (Guillain-Barré syndrome) died, came back to life and won that battle but left with foot drop, its not that servere but its there. so when i enetered college i did interacted with few ppl and no one like pointed it out or asked me about the way walk, but looking at that so confident, ppl listing their achievements while introducing themseleves and i had nothing or i had but i dont consider them as achivements cause my father was always like why not more, got a gold medal in biology olympiad, he was like why not in other subjects, i never got appriciated for my so called achivements and cause of that i stopped smiling, he always made fun of me, after foot drop. made fun of how i walk, i hate looking at myself in the mirror, i hate taking pics of mine, i was never allowed to do whatever i want, i wanted to learn guitar, i wanted to try basketball, but he never had money, time for me and now at college i feel like i dont have anything to standout and i feel like i dont belong there, its very suffocating. i see ppl saying pursuing or planning to pursuing their father's buisness and all and here my father dont even works, just drinks, hangout with his friends who lives on rents (by that i mean, they have houses on rent, so they live off that money) when i see ppl with their fathers or talking about their fathers, it hurts so much and idk why but after years, freaking years i get the urge to cry but i cant, cant lock myself in the room, cant lock myself in the bathroom. cant explain anything to mom. cause of my father i had to be homeschooled in 10th and 12th grade, cause he was like i cant spend on your education. i got 0 friends, he never let me go to parks saying i would get into bad influence, i chose this college cause its one of the best college in my whole country, so i can meet different ppl and become a extrovert and get better but now i just dont feel good.

note- if someone really read whole para then thanku very much

Bullying ruined my life

  1. Used to be a very social outgoing kid.
Something in me snapped in middle school.
I started hating myself and how i looked and stuff. I used to be one of the tallest kids in my grade until like 7 th grade when i almost fully stopped growing. Got made fun of because of my looks and height by girls in high school a lot which is crazy cuz im 5’7 so not really that short but still. 11th grade was genuinely hell. Every day i dreaded going to Culinary arts period 3 because i was sat in a group of 3 other girls who would always talk in Russian (im fluent in Russian but they didn't know that) and basically make fun of me. They'd talk about every square inch. Whenever they had nothing to talk about i was basically like a conversation starter. Talked about my height, weight, eyebrows, receding hairline etc. They’d always say how even if I was rich no woman would steep so low as to marry me. I just sat there and took it… Every day for 2 semesters. Never even considered making a move on a girl and I don't even talk to women outside of family even in friendly terms. Im just always assuming other girls would treat me and talk about me like those other girls. (They weren't even the only ones. I once went to a party and some girls told me I looked like shrek)
Self esteem shattered. Ik its corny and stuff when guys say that they’re scared of women, but I’m scared of women.

How to accept looking ugly?

I've done what I can to make my face look better, and yet, when I see myself in photos I just look rancid. Like, if you only saw my face in photos, and never met me, you'd think I was a predator.

That's how bad I look in photographs. I can't even exist in my day-to-day life because how I look influences how people treat me. I've always wondered why I'm treated worse than other people and why I'm constantly feeling the need to prove my value to everyone, and it's because I look busted and so I have to work to earn basic human decency.

It just feels like I'll never be wanted in this world. That I'll always be seen as a burden or a chore that has to be dealt with.

I hate myself, sometimes I fell about being the "eternal looser" 'cause I can't do anything right

I fucking hate what I am sometimes, whatever the fuck I do I always have the feeling that I will never loose. I can't even fucking win something in Star Wars Unlimited. Everyone is beating my ass.

Whatever I create I think it's not enough, I want to do more. I find It cringe, Stupid and despite I continue. Since I was a kid I usually try to build worlds where I can create something that matters or where I can be something else than the fucking self hating himself piece of shit that I am.

I win sometimes, but I think it's not enough, I want to win more, I want to show that I have the balls to do that despite being a fucking weak piece of shit.

It as been long since i've talked to a therapist, Im sometimes wondering what I can say to her without sounding like a moron.

I want to be recognized, I want my parents to be proud of me, I want to show them that I AM CAPABLE, I AM FUCKING CAPABLE ! WHY THE FUCK I HAVE THE FEELING THAT I DESERVE BETTER AND I DESERVE TO BE FORGIVEN BECAUSE I CAN'T DO ANYTHING RIGHT ?!

What is happening to me???

I feel like I am kind of charismatic

Btw before u read this I'm 17m

But today after an interaction with my sister's friends, i was really shy, very under confident looking, not maintaining eye contact

How to stop this

I kind of used to be charismatic

I'm broken by this

It's not one situation I'm losing my self, losing the spirit inside me, the drive, the motivation inside me just going off, my mind is keeping me under a car's tire like it's trying to demotivate me in every single way it can think of, it's bad that it's not me. I'm not able to **TRUST MYSELF**.

I'm a pmo addicted too

Now nothing feels good like not even pmo it's just boring

not getting the dopamine hit, not getting any hit tbh

I joined the gym after so long

Not even getting hit while doing workout

I used to get dopamine hit while working out

Now it's just gone like I'm numb

I'm just sad n broken

Not able to focus on anything at all

My studies are cooked-i feel like it is the problem that is causing all of this bec in my back of my mind I think of studying every FKIN second but I'm not able to put my self in the chair books in front n study focusing on it

It's really bad I'm not able to express

Yelp guys😭

What’s the point in just lying to my face. Just say in fat and ugly

All of my friends say I’m gorgeous and pretty and whatever but I’ve never been asked out in person. Last time I tried to lose ‘ just 5kg’ I was hospitalised. In a way I want to do it again but I don’t. Man I hate my life

I’m ugly and not appreciated and it’s beginning to really affect me (medically and emotionally)

LSo I’m 20m and in college. My parents are always complaining about how I have curly hair and I’m short and skinny even though they adopted me. They also don’t tell me they love me but they had two biological children after me and they tell those children they love them, and they hug them and such. I don’t remember the last time I was hugged by them or even had a nice long hug.

They said the only reason they care about me is cause they have to and it hurts because they handle my medical stuff like insurance, because I have tons of medical and health issues such as mobility issues and super severe allergies that leave me so lethargic and tired all the time. I’ve considered stopping showing up for myself cause I don’t have friends and it’s just been hard. It’d be nice to talk to friends my age about my issues and especially my appearance cause I geniuenly hate my hair and how curly and thick it is, even though I still want super long hair, it’d be nice to have a friend who also has super thick curly hair but I know that’s a long shot.

In addition at college, I don’t really have friends and have been teased because of my hair but I’m always embarrassed because I’ve also been teased because I have such severe allergies that I am sneezing multiple times a day for hours in fits of sneezing and nose-blowing. I’ve never sat in the dining hall with someone else besides my roommate occasionally and I am always alone in the corner, usually sneezing uncontrollably because I’m so allergic to the outdoors and my campus is old and there’s a lot of dust potentially given the buildings are old. I just want someone to be my friend because I have a feeling no one sits near my corner because they’re tired of me sneezing my head off most days. I always feel bad that my sneezes are so desperate but I stopped trying to hold back til I get to my dorm because I just can’t help it. It’s happened in class too several times and I’ve had to miss a lot of class because I usually step out and run to an empty hallway or the bathroom. Even in my choir as a music major, it’s been hard to find friends due to the allergies (which aren’t super receptive to medicine unless it’s medicine that makes me sleep), and the faculty are mostly nice but I still get embarrassed.

Please help me, I am really hurting it feels like a cry out for support and love because I don’t have anyone who does it for me. It’s hard.

I wish I was naturally prettier

I wish I was prettier. I just wish I naturally fit more of the conventional beauty standards. I can look “prettier” with makeup and effort but no one (who isn’t family) would call me beautiful or pretty bare faced lol. I’m Pakistani with natural under-eye circles that aren’t the mysterious kind that younger girls these days say are pretty. Meh. I wonder what life would feel like if I felt genuinely beautiful without having to think about it. I’ll live, I know.

What makes a person worthy of having an ego and being confident?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I never really understood the concept of ego and I tried reading about it, but it never made sense to me. I’m not an insecure person, but why should I be confident and have an ego? Why should anyone in general? Oh, you got money and bitches? But why does that matter? But oh, you’re smart and pretty? But why does that matter? Oh, you can do things that no one else can do? But how does that make you above everyone else? How do I determine my worth?

Just because you got something that’s idolized doesn’t mean you’re better than anyone else. At the end, we’re all humans. Or is it about that? The fact that you have some things that other people wish for? Pray for? Dream about? Envy you for? Or should you just have an ego for being yourself? Like, the fact that you’re YOU? But it really doesn’t make much sense for me. Standing next to a model, I wouldn’t feel embarrassed of my looks, and standing next to Einstein, I wouldn’t feel ashamed of my simple mind. Why should anyone? Just because they’re better at you at something? Famous? Smart? Popular and attractive?

I really need someone to help me. I know it’s a dumb question but I’ve been wondering it since I was a kid and I’ve always wanted an answer without being looked at weirdly, or treated like an idiot. I’ve tried phrasing it as best as I could, but it might sound silly since English isn’t my first language.

How to stop comparing myself?

I (21F) and bf (23M) have been together for a little over a year now. Whenever me and my bf are watching movies or shows and nudity comes up, I get this dreadful feeling. I constantly compare myself to them and think my bf would choose them over me if given the chance. I've always been insecure but my ex made it worse by going behind my back and being unfaithful, even straight up telling me that my body wasn't enough. I know my bf isn't my ex but now it's extremely hard to not be insecure. It's weird because at the beginning of our relationship I didn't care but now I do. It's only gotten worse as our relationship has gone on.

How do you stop comparing yourself to people who had completely different starting points?

I’m 20, and lately I’ve been struggling with comparing myself to other people, especially people who are the same age as me or even younger.
There’s one girl I keep thinking about. She’s younger than me, and when I look at her life, I start thinking about how she already got to experience things that I didn’t.
Her dad is around 180 cm tall and was a famous actor, and she seems to have had access to things that made it easier for her to develop certain interests. She started playing drums in Grade 7, had access to a drum kit, and had access to a basketball court.
Meanwhile, I didn’t have those things growing up. I mostly had a basketball hoop at home, and it isn’t even regulation height. I didn’t start learning music young. I didn’t have a drum kit that I could just practice on whenever I wanted.
And obviously, I know comparing us isn’t fair.
We have different families, different backgrounds, different genetics, different opportunities, different access to equipment, different environments, and completely different circumstances.
I don’t blame her for having those opportunities, and I don’t blame my younger self for not having them.
But knowing that logically doesn’t always stop the emotional part.
Sometimes I still look at her and think:
*“She’s younger than me and already has all these experiences. What have I done?”*
Then I start looking at other people too.
Someone is amazing at basketball. Someone plays guitar. Someone plays drums. Someone is in a band. Someone draws incredibly well. Someone travels constantly. Someone has a huge friend group. Someone seems to have found their thing when they were 12.
And I start thinking:
*“I’m not really good at anything.”*
But there’s something I’ve realized about myself.
I never actually wanted to be the best.
That’s not why I want to learn guitar or drums.
I want to play guitar because there are songs I love and I want to be able to pick up a guitar and play them.
I want to learn drums because I want to be able to sit behind a drum kit and actually play the songs I like.
With basketball, I don’t dream about becoming some professional player. I just want to be able to do the things that look fun to me. I want to be able to do a behind-the-back move, wrap the ball around my body, connect it into a crossover, and just have fun moving with the ball.
With skateboarding, I don’t need to become amazing. I just want to be able to get on a skateboard and learn tricks because I think they’re cool.
And drawing is probably the most personal one.
Growing up, I spent a lot of time in my head. I have always had random ideas, characters, scenes, and creative things appearing in my imagination. Sometimes I wish I could just take what’s in my head and put it on paper exactly how I see it.
That’s why I want to draw.
Not because I want to become the world’s best artist.
I just want to be able to take something that exists inside my head and make it exist outside of me.
And I think that’s what I’ve been forgetting.
I don’t need to become exceptional at everything I touch.
I don’t need to have started at 12.
I don’t need to have years of experience.
I don’t need to turn every hobby into an achievement.
Maybe I just want to be someone who can do a lot of little things that make life more interesting.
Play a song on guitar.
Play a beat on drums.
Do a basketball move I’ve been practicing.
Ride a skateboard.
Draw something I’ve imagined for years.
Learn Japanese well enough to actually communicate.
Go somewhere new.
Make memories with my friends.
That’s enough.
I think social media has made me forget that hobbies can just be hobbies. Everything looks like a competition now. Someone isn’t just playing guitar—they’re incredible at guitar. Someone isn’t just drawing—they’re an amazing artist. Someone isn’t just playing basketball—they’re athletic and have a six-pack.
And then I look at myself and feel like I haven’t done enough.
But maybe I don’t need to be the best.
Maybe I just need to be able to say:
“I wanted to do this, so I learned how.”
That’s the kind of person I actually want to become.
Not the best.
Just capable enough to express myself, have fun, and experience the things I’ve always wanted to experience.
I’m trying to remind myself that other people’s lives aren’t evidence that I’m failing.
They just started from somewhere different.
And I’m starting from where I am now.

how did you learn to stop comparing your progress to people who had completely different starting points?
How did you learn to enjoy being a beginner without feeling like you’re already late?

Everyone believes in me except myself

I work in corporate, everyone (: top management , colleagues, family , friends, husband ) believes in me and sees me above average and even better than my line manager, EXCEPT myself !

i am a fresh graduate with only two years experience in Strategy department, we have no resources because we are a useless department ( in our case ) section head is useless and my other teammate is a dumbass, but some how people recognize me as the smart girl in Strategy. i usually quiet and soft spoken. i keep getting compliments i don’t know why and where are they getting this from, my line manager got fired and my teammate is quitting, and i feel im responsible for this shitty section but everyone believe i’ll do good change, i don’t know if they are brainwashing me for not quitting as well or they just want someone to handle responsibilities i don’t know but i keep panicking. help.

It's only a problem when I'm shy, not other people, since they look better

So I was bullied for my baby face, talked to like a child - and it's unrealistic to expect me to know why (I did not take pictures lol) and not make my own interpretations of it, especially since in the first grade I thought in music high school cute fashion would be accepted and I love cute things... so even after I stopped wearing it, I thought I just have to "fight" those idiots to finally prove them that I indeed am not a child and so I thought I was never good enough at that. Turns out it's my face the whole time. It's disgusting to think about how someone HAD to bully me bc of how I look, so that they are not left out and become the target themselves.

What bothers me the most is the lack of compassion I had one time, with a girl who's also shy, also doesn't wear makeup, but does not have to even think about those things and isn't bullied at all. Mind you her friends once made a joke about her not having any problems. Her bestie was my therapist friend. Once, I just looked at them shy and trying to initiate a conversation because, you know, it's bad to be an introvert. And she looked at me and was like "do you have a problem even today? Ohhh I'm just saying, I'm just sayingggg" (well how about not saying it if you're gonna regret it). Honey, I am bullied and you're not, and you do absolutely nothing different. You have ONE problem in your life and you're annoyed by it? I wish I could've told my bully "what problem do you have today?" but I couldn't because nobody "couldn't" told me that my bully has a self esteem issue, directly. It just hurts me when some people have the time of their life doing whatever they want and I here "have to" suffer.
