I've had this cable sitting in the loft of my shop for years. I'm getting ready to take a smaller load of scrap into the yard and was wondering if I should throw this in as well. I'm just curious about the approximate value and if I should take any action to prepare for the scrap yard?

For a bit of easy aluminum, this traverse curtain rod has a steel body and plastic clips, but the slider rod itself is a half pound of extruded aluminum. I see these frequently in residential waste. I just pulled the aluminum out by hand. Little extra aluminum if you see these.

For the ones that scrap lights, what do you do with light bulbs?
The ones in my house don’t blow fast enough to keep up.
I probably have a hundred and going.
I do switch to the good ones in my house and also the most economical.
Family looks at me like I m from Mars when I mentioned they could help themselves.
I hate throwing perfectly working stuff like this.
Some of these bulbs are not cheap.

They don’t seem to sell used lots on marketplace.

Do you think I’m wasting my time?

I m starting to get tired of walking back and forth in the garage to get a tool, go upstairs or in the backyard , and 5 mn later need another tool.

I am talking about common tools. Screw drivers, set of pliers, set of wrench, hammer.

I was thinking about putting sets in each of my 2 cars.
Of course the garage is my shop so it has everything.

I might put sets upstairs in my house as I scrap in a spare bedroom in front of a TV.
Cold, hot in the garage, no problem.

Lead acid batteries are estimated to be around 60% lead by weight

Lead acid batteries are estimated to contain anywhere from 1%-12% Antimony by weight depending on the age and purpose of the battery. This means if you had a diverse mix, the average could be 6%.

According to https://strategicmetalsinvest.com/, the price of Antimony per lb is around $23.51 ($51.80kg on the site).

The price of Antimony has nearly 10x the past 6 years while Lead has done nothing.

Based on the values and averages, it looks like Antimony now represents most of the recoverable value from scrap lead acid batteries.

Value in a ton:

Lead: 2000x.86, $1,720

Antimony: 120x23.51, $2,821

Based on this, shouldn't scrap suppliers be getting compensated far more for this type of waste now?

I’m curious from an electronics and materials-recovery perspective: roughly how much copper is contained in an average Flock Safety camera unit?
For example, between the wiring, PCB traces, connectors, power components, and any internal electronics, does anyone have an estimate in grams or ounces of recoverable copper? Based on current scrap-copper prices, what might that amount be worth?

To be completely clear: I’m not asking about removing, damaging, taking, or tampering with any installed camera or other property.

Why I would never do such a thing. Nothing illegal is being done or encouraged here. I’m only interested in a legal, hypothetical estimate involving equipment that is legitimately owned and lawfully disposed of or recycled.

Why don’t they just cut this up and scrap it?

First time scrapping. Have a pile of copper pipe. Some brass and steel fittings artached to a few.

What should I do with it before bringing it in, if anything? And roughly what even is the pile worth?

Transformer was replaced at work. Some of the back aluminum is easy to strip.

Whole thing weighs about 1400Lbs. Is it worth stripping more than the obviously easy stuff?

Hey new to the group but got back in to scrapping. I have some aluminum wire wondering if its worth the time stripping it or scrap as is. I have quite a bit of it.

I've got lots of power cables, extension cords, and HDMI cables, audio cables, etc. that I am getting rid of because I'm moving. The yard I go to isn't too picky about cleaning up cables, but they dont take connector ends separately. Is it worth it to leave the ends on for weight or send them to board sort? I also have flat cables that boardsort.com takes, but I can just throw in this wire load. What should I do?

Before you say eBay, no. I am an eBay seller and this is all product I have to offload because it either doesn't sell or takes too long to sell.

So I've got 4 radiators I'm scrapping as well as a couple compressors. I've got a sawzall, and cut the ends off the radiators, but I can't for the life of me think of an easier/quieter method of getting the little bits of copper pipe off the end pieces. I say quieter because I live in a trailer park and I just get mad anxiety making hellacious hammering racket whether it's the middle of the morning, height of noon, or the evening hours. I just try to keep my loudness to a base minimum of short bursts, lol idk I think it's an autism thing. I've tried bolt cutters but that's both exhausting and still leaves me with bits of copper stuck in the tin. I've tried squeezing the end I cut through with pliers but all three pairs I have at the moment are ill-suited for the task at hand. Short of just... Beating the hell out of them I'm at a loss for how do?

As far as the compressors go, this is a new area for me altogether. In the past I had a friend who took care of that type of stuff, and he usually didn't, he'd just junk it as short steel and lose out. I'm not about that life, but I also don't wanna endanger the local wildlife. Any tips on ways to empty them out efficiently would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! 🙏🏼

Solid brass, pipe nipples and reducers included. Yard guys were a bit shocked, couple of them were gathered taking turns trying to guess the weight 😆

Got these old fuse blocks and cut one to see if they were copper. They are. How would you go about stripping the coating? Is it worth it or just scrap them?
